It can be easy to assume that God "doing a new thing" requires an abandonment of the old.

"New year, new me."

"Out with the old, in with the new."

Sound familiar?

But perhaps the Lord is doing a new thing, not by entirely removing all that is old, but by redeeming and restoring the old.
