Jesus knew that He had come to “take up His cross” and follow the will of His Heavenly Father. It was absolutely necessary that He must go to Jerusalem; suffer unjustly at the hands of wicked, hateful men; die a cruel death on the cross and three days later be raised again to life by the power of Almighty God. By doing so, He took on my sins and yours, and through this forgiveness restored our relationship with the Father.
Just as He did for us, so He calls us to “take up our cross” and follow Him. His disciples are called to a life of absolute surrender. The things of this world cannot compare to the riches that we have in Christ. A disciple is ready and willing to suffer persecution, even death for the sake of the Gospel of Christ. Just as they persecuted Him, they will persecute you and me. Those who seek to save their lives will lose it, but whoever loses his live for Christ's sake will save it.
There are a lot of voices in this world. Everyone has an opinion of how we should live our lives and what we should be doing. If you want to know God's will for your life, listen to Jesus. He is the Son of the living God, the Christ who died on the cross for your sin and rose victoriously from the grave! He loves you and will never forsake you. He offers salvation freely to anyone who will believe. Believe on Him today!
