We spoke last week about the concept that we can learn about God's Kingdom from the kingdoms of this world. We used the example of airborne propaganda- in the wars of the world down here, they drop propaganda from airplanes and that affects the war. We spoke about how we can drop Emunah and Bitachon related propaganda, so that we can fight the war against Amalek. I'd like to use another concept that we can learn from this world's wars. In seventh grade, I did two book reports, one on Harry Houdini (we'll talk about him another time) and one about Lucky Luciano, who got the name “ Lucky ,” because he was once riding in a car in a parade when someone tried to shoot him, and he got away. He was a mobster who killed a lot of people, but there is a lesson here for us. He was imprisoned for his crimes. Then, during World War II, believe it or not, the mafia, who ran the docks, helped the US government find Nazi spies who were at the docks. Lucky and his family were very helpful in the war effort, so in appreciation of that, the American government let him out of jail and sent him back to his hometown of Sicily, where spent the rest of his life. What lesson do we learned from this? The lesson is that you might be a mobster, you might have killed many people, but if the government needs you, they will keep you going, and they will appreciate what you do for them. Of course, crime doesn't pay and ideally you shouldn't do this, but after the fact, that's the way the government works. And similarly with God- a person may have done things wrong, but if we need him for the war effort, he will continue surviving (Of course, this is a mashal for us). Last week, when we spoke about the airborne propaganda, we spoke about people that helped sponsor Bet Halevis books, Daily Dose of Bitachon, lessons on USBs, and all kinds of airborne propaganda. I needed to raise $25,000 and I was a little short, so I called my dear friend, Michael Safdie, who has a wonderful Bitachon chat with 12,000 people on it. Michael said, “No problem,” and within about 24 hours, we raised $15,000 from his chats. I called him and said, “ Michael, I might be supplying the bombs, but you are the pilot who’s dropping them, and they're reaching worldwide.” Michael is a worldwide bomber. I even got a call from South Africa, where a man asked for some USBs. I told him it would cost too much in postage to mail them, but that we’d email him the files, and he could buy the USBs in South Africa. And that's what he's doing. So Michael is an expert pilot and he's dropping a lot of bombs. Hashem should bless him. But it's not just Michael. Anyone can do it. Everyone is capable of spreading propaganda. As another example, some of us have a little booklet called a Hashgacha Pratit journal . We spoke in the past, about how Rav Yaakov Kaminetsky and Rav Feinstein wrote a letter in 1984, discussing the importance of documenting stories of Hashgacha Pratit that happened to you. The Sultan family, in memory of Charlie Sultan, printed up the booklet and gave out thousands of them.
