We continue in our special mini series of Pesukim of Rosh Hashanah Musaf prayers. We're in Pasuk number eight ) Ovadia 1,21) וְעָל֤וּ מֽוֹשִׁעִים֙ בְּהַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹן לִשְׁפֹּ֖ט אֶת־הַ֣ר עֵשָׂ֑ו וְהָיְתָ֥ה לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃ / The saviors will go up to Mount Zion to judge the mountain of Esav, And then there will be for Hashem the Kingdom. What does it mean that they're going to judge Esav ? The commentaries explain that Esav is the impediment right now of Mashiach coming. We are in what's called Galut Edom, as the Ramban tells us in Shemot 17,9. And when they become overtaken and weakened, then we will be redeemed forever. That's what the pasuk is saying. We're waiting for the destruction of Esav. Esav symbolizes western civilization, what we're all so proud of. But as time goes on, it becomes clear from the Ivy League colleges and the like, what Esav is really like, he shows his real face and we see what he's done to us over the generations. And when Esav falls, we will come to our full state. And that is V'Hiytah LHashem, Hameluchah / And then Hashem's kingdom will come about. Who are these Moshi'im / saviors that we'll bring about Hashem's kingdom? The Radak says, these are the seven shepherds and the eight princes as the pasuk in Micha 5,4 says, וַהֲקֵמֹ֤נוּ עָלָיו֙ שִׁבְעָ֣ה רֹעִ֔ים וּשְׁמֹנָ֖ה נְסִיכֵ֥י אָדָֽם / And I will set upon you, the seven shepherds and the eight princes. So it's a pasuk in Micha that there will be 15 men that will come at the time of Mashiach. Who are they? The Gemara in Masechet, Sukah, 52B, says the shepherds are David Hamelech in the middle, with Shet (Adam HaRishon's third son), Chanoch and Mitushelach on his right, and Abraham, Yaakov and Moshe on his left. Rashi says they knew this with tradition, but he doesn't know where they expounded it from. Besides them are eight princes: Yishai, Shaul, Shmuel, Amo, Sephaniah, Chizkiyah, Eliyahu HaNavi and Mashiach. These 15 men are called the Moshi'im / saviors because they're going to come (imagine seeing these great people!) and tell us a lot about history. The Bet Elohim in Shaar Yesodot , 59th perek , describes how these men are going to come -we're going to recognize them and they're going to recognize us-and they'll tell us the stories that they witnessed and our Emunah will become supercharged. That is what their purpose is. They're going to come and say, " Yes, that happened. I was there!" Shet will tell the story and they'll tell us all the things that we read about and say, " Yes, that's exactly what the Midrash said. That's exactly what happened." Our Emunah is going to become stronger through these seven shepherds, because that's the job of theor job. Shepherds cause the flock to follow in the proper direction, says the Shem Mi Shemuel on Parashat Miketz on Hanukah. He says they're called princes . Princes give a person a certain pride, a certain royalty. They're going to bring the royalty back to the jewish people. And that's וְהָיְתָ֥ה לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה הַמְּלוּכָֽה The kingdom is going to be the kingdom of God, and we are going to be the royalty. This is one of the Pesukim that we read of Hashem's kingdom. We're supposed to put this pasuk into our minds. וְעָל֤וּ מֽוֹשִׁעִים֙ בְּהַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹן לִשְׁפֹּ֖ט אֶת־הַ֣ר עֵשָׂ֑ו וְהָיְתָ֥ה לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה הַמְּלוּכָֽה Interestingly, many of these Pesukim, are in our daily prayers. In Az Yashir, we say, Hashem Yimloch M'Olam Vaed .That was the first pasuk of the ten Pesukim . The revelation of God's kingdom at the splitting of the sea. And then we say, Ki va Sus Paroah . Then we say, Ki LHashem HaMelucha UMoshel BaGoyim:Hashem is the King, the Dictator of the goyim. Then we say, every single day, V'Alu Moshi'im B'Har Sion L'Shpot Et Har Esav V'Hiytah Hashem Hamelucha And we end with V'Hayah Hashem L'Melech Al Kol HaAretz BYom HaHu Hashem Echad U'Shmo Echad Hashem will be the King, Hashem will be One. His name will be One . So these pesukim are so important that not only do they show up once a year on Rosh Hashanah, but they're part of our daily prayers. The Marahal has a Sefer Netzach Yisrael , which means the Jewish people are forever. Netzach / we will last forever. The eternal Jewish people. He says that the goal of this book is that the Jewish people will last forever and we will survive these difficult exiles. Just like God is forever, we are forever. And that's the וְעָל֤וּ מֽוֹשִׁעִים֙ בְּהַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹ In the end, we will be there at Har Sion, Mount Zion. We will judge the people of Esav. And in the end, וְהָיְתָ֥ה לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה הַמְּלוּכָֽה the Kingdom will be Hashem's This is our belief. We have to strengthen this belief in the future, in Mashiach and God's Kingdom every day, but especially on Rosh Hashanah.
