Asbjørn joins us live from Denmark to talk about the first single from his upcoming (as yet untitled) album. We discuss the importance of his continuing work talking to teenagers in high schools about sexuality and identity freedom. Annie Louey and Mohammed Magdi join us in the studio to talk about their new Melbourne International Comedy Festival show, ‘Too Haram to Handle’. They share the origins of the show and their other MICF recommendations, and Annie and Ando reminisce about their time in radio together.

Annie Louey and Mohammed Magdi are comedians dating across continents. Annie is Chinese-Australian living in Melbourne. Mohammed is Egyptian but has lived in China for 11 years. Annie is still getting used to learning about her own Chinese culture through an Arab.
They first met on Love Island, aka Hong Kong. Annie returned to Australia with a long-distance relationship, a massive medical bill and 25 minutes of new material.
Meanwhile Mo stayed back in his Bachelor pad, crying into his bubble tea and scheming about how they could see each other again. And so, this show was born.
Umbra Moon joins us to share their newly released single, ‘Army of Me‘, and shares their love of busking in Melbourne’s CBD.
Heath Thorpe joins us from his training camp from Belgium. Heath is in intense training for his Olympic qualification trials and has still managed to make some time for ballroom training and catching up with Tom Daley.

DisGraceland sees The Huxleys on a wild road trip across rural Victoria for a lurid fever dream capturing the story of two queer alien Elvis’s trying to make it home. The Huxleys embrace the camp, unorthodox presence of how Elvis would have first appeared in small-town USA in the 1950s. Rewriting the history of rock ’n’ roll as a gay love story, The Huxleys have interpreted this in their own queer cosmic fashion. The duo created these photographs and costumes to speak to their continuing interest in escapism and otherworldly glamour.
Kyriakos joins us to talk about their recent appointment to the board of the Sydney Mardi Gras. We reminisce about the joys of the Sydney Harbour Bridge Pride March walk and reflect on the importance of community and showing up.

Filmmaker Naomi Ball joins us in the studio with Aether - the star of her latest short film "Who I Am".
"Who I Am" is a 23-minute documentary following a transgender teen who is also Autistic.
After being bullied at school, 14-year-old Charlie (pronouns he/him/it) finally comes out to his mum, setting him on a path of navigating the first steps of his transition – the social transition – and ultimately settling into his identity with a new name Aether. Meanwhile his mum Anthea goes on her own journey to embracing her child for all that he is.
The story is told through observational moments, intimate reflections from the whole family, and Aether’s own original animated characters, The Fallens, coming to life.

2020 was a pretty bad year for everyone. But, Michael Shafar probably had it worse than most, having to face death for the second time when he had a testicular cancer relapse, which forced him to undergo high-dose chemotherapy during Melbourne’s second lockdown. He says ‘worse than most’ because some people had to homeschool their kids, which is objectively worse than dealing with cancer.
Back in remission, Shafar returned to the Melbourne Comedy Festival earlier this year with his darkest and funniest show yet, receiving critical acclaim for his cutting observations about the dangers of cancel culture, the hypocrisy of racists and, most importantly, the unknown perils of skinny jeans.

Melbourne band The Engagement are back with a timely single ‘Heaven So Close’, an uplifting anthem about enduring and overcoming obstacles during hard times. Triple J called it "a poppy sugar hit to meet your cravings."
In collaboration with NYC based producer Brent Kolatalo – who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry – the band have managed to capture all the qualities of the catchy and meaningful electro-pop that has allowed their previous singles to garner close to a million streams on Spotify.
‘Heaven So Close’ is now available worldwide on all streaming platforms followed by a debut EP in 2022.
Triple J say “They can clearly put together the hooks and glitz.” Fox FM labelled them “a cool 80s/retro sound” and Triple M called them “fantastic.” The Engagement deliver independent music with a stadium sound drawing influence from the likes of Imagine Dragons, Coldplay and Bastille.
Their songs combine earnest storytelling and big hooky melodies to create their own brand of electro-pop that has gained them close to a million streams on Spotify. They've performed to audiences in Melbourne and across Australia, including shows at St Kilda's Oktoberfest, and residencies at Luna Park.
With a number of independent singles under their belts (In The End, Another Year and Heaven So Close), they continue to evolve their sound and engage with a growing fanbase both online and at shows.
The band are excited to showcase new material to Melbourne and regional Victoria in 2021.

Two years ago, before our lives changed forever, The Production Company staged its last production. Ragtime, an Australian premiere, was the company’s final show after twenty-one years of presenting musicals in the State Theatre at Arts Centre Melbourne.
Founded by Jeanne Pratt AC in 1998, the company produced sixty-five musicals in more than five hundred performances between 1999 and 2019, selling more than a million tickets, presenting no fewer than ten Australian premieres and creating thousands of jobs and major career development for artists and creatives.

Originally from Ballarat, Tobias worked for ten years as a dancer, touring Australia and New Zealand with musicals such as Mary Poppins, CATS, Singin’ in the Rain and Guys and Dolls. He now lives in Sydney with his husband, Daniel, and their Cavoodle, Ollie.
In 2019, Tobias edited and published Underdog: #LoveOzYA Short Stories, which featured his first published work, ‘Variation’. He also co-wrote the cabaret show Siblingship, which played to sold-out audiences in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
Tobias is a passionate member of the #LoveOzYA and LGBTQ+ communities, and he currently works full time for a major independent publishing company.
