After graduating high school, TJ began pre-licensing to be a loan officer, and despite only being 23 has already been in the industry for years.
TJ wishes that people weren’t so scared to start the process of homeownership. For him, he doesn’t care if clients are planning on buying tomorrow or five years from now--just start the process. She was so excited to be at the house that she and her family slept on the living room floor the first night they stayed in their new home. This is the primary reason Cassandra decided to get into the real estate industry as an agent. “That emotion that you feel when you help people close on a home, I want to help other people feel that emotion.”
We’re talking with Adam Griffee and Ryan Briggs, Principal and Associate Broker of Time Real Estate, founded in 1998. At Time Real Estate, Adam and Ryan believe that time equals money, and as agents, they value saving their clients time. Should Clients Worry About the Real Estate Market? Adam and Ryan believe that the primary reason why people get nervous about the real estate market is from a lack of good information. One thing that people forget is that when you’re in the real estate market, regardless of whether it’s a buyers’ or sellers’ market, you’re often being both. The market is going to fluctuate, they say. It always does. Listeners have likely heard the term, “When’s the best time to buy? Five years ago.” The second best time is as soon as possible. Even if potential buyers or sellers are nervous, they recommend finding the right team and getting started.

Lauren shares that her first experience with owning property was less-than-glamorous. At the end of the experience, Lauren and her husband agreed that their idea may not have been executed well. But, with all the equity they had from their first project, they were excited to try again.

Having a less-than-optimal view of real estate agents, Chris never considered one until he met Cody. “Chatting with Cody and finding out that Cody’s attitude was one of building Salt Lake City into the city I want to build it into really resonated with me.”

Taylor Wright a loan officer with SecurityNational Mortgage Company joins us! Taylor is a local Utah resident and started at the age of 22 as a loan officer while studying at UVU. He gives his expertise and advice on efficiently running through the home loan process when purchasing a new home.
“I think people get really scared of walking into a bank and being sold on a house.” Taylor takes the educational approach with his clients and can teach them what to expect as a homeowner, and he suggests looking for a local expert that knows the area well when securing a home loan.
“Many people get caught up in a pipeline process and I like to step back and take time to teach them about the loan. Although this takes more time for the loan officer, I feel like you can create a smoother process, not just for the client, but for the entire transaction.” When the customer understands the costs and next steps, the process is less scary and more fluid.

We have Sicilee Williams, a loan officer at Intercap Lending with us today. Sicilee specializes in working with self-employed clients looking to secure a loan for their homes. She feels that entrepreneurs are passionate and hard-working individuals and enjoys working with them. Although there’s a bit more planning to get a home loan when you’re self-employed, Sicilee has resources for her clients to prepare all the documents they need to apply for a home loan.
She recommends that consumers educate themselves on the home buying process. Many times self-employed business owners will reduce their net income to pay fewer taxes. However, this reduces their overall income, which puts them at a disadvantage for a home loan.
