As Paul was writing his letter to the church in Ephesus, civil unrest was a common part of life. Roman occupation had challenged the jewish way of life and resources. The city was ethnically, spiritually, and economically, diverse. In spite of all these differences, Paul makes it clear that the death of Jesus was for all to experience an opportunity to enter into the family of God. Not only was this true then, but also for us today. Ephesians two makes it clear, if the power of the cross could reconcile our relationship to God, it certainly has the power to reconcile our relationships with each other.
