The BDC Operator and popular Internet personality was called a “notorious internet fraudster” in a Sunday September 12th article on all the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) platforms. The article was extremely libelous as Mompha has not even been convicted of being an internet fraudster let alone “notorious” Mompha’s case was postponed several times amid a nationwide court strike and there has been no judgement or sentence handed out yet in his section of the case. In ethical Journalistic standards this should have had non affirmative words inserted like “alleged” “suspected” internet fraudster but in this case the article has been seen globally and seriously damaged his reputation. He fled to Dubai to work with a bigger alleged scammer Hushpuppi. Olalekan Ponle is facing internet fraud charges of $15.2M and is being held in US federal prison in Chicago since June 2020.
