We all have doubts from time to time, that’s a normal part of living the life
of faith. What Jesus longs for in this post-resurrection encounter with
Thomas is that we all might believe in him by handing over our hearts and
our hopes and placing our trust in him. That’s what living an Easter life is
all about. That’s what Thomas wanted, he just needed to see it, touch it,
experience it before he was willing to risk relationship again.

There was something about Jesus that was winsome. There was something about the person He was and the way that He lived that drew people in and forced them to ask questions. Could it be that as followers of Jesus we too have the potential to live our lives in such a compelling, countercultural way that those around us can’t help but take notice?

In the midst of the increasingly speedy expectations of our day, one aspect of the humanity of Jesus, that almost feels counter-cultural to us, is his perfect patience. No one even comes close to his ability to handle us with care, even when we stray as far away from him as we could possibly

Jesus was full of truth and full of grace, and in His life He showed us the power of the two together. While truth without grace leads to condemnation and grace without truth leads to chaos, truth and grace together lead to life. Truth and grace is God’s posture towards us, and it’s how He calls His followers to posture themselves towards others.

The humility of Jesus is a central aspect of his character and teachings, and it serves as a model for how Christians should live their lives. In the life of Jesus we see clearly that, in the midst of the miraculous, people felt that He genuinely cared for them. Jesus showed compassion to the sick, the hungry, and the hurting, and yet beyond any day-to-day needs, Jesus was most deeply compassionate towards those who were lost spiritually. Today Jesus now invites His followers to share and show the same compassion that He has for the lost, but if we’re honest, it can sometimes be difficult for us to feel compassion, let alone show compassion. So as followers of Jesus, how do we become more compassionate for those who are lost and need to know Him?

Have you every thought about what it would have been like to walk with
Jesus? I mean literally... walk from town to town with Jesus... one foot in
front of the other... to chat about your plans for the day over
breakfast... just the regular mundane things of everyday life.... Being
sweaty and dirty and tired after a long days journey... jumping in the river
to cool off... building a fire to keep you warm at night... laughing
together... crying together... what would it have been like to be a disciple
of Jesus?

No one can deny that we live in a world of worry. Worry is a favourite
pastime for a lot of people occupying their thinking for large parts of the
day.
Worry is the equivalent of saying, "
God... I know you mean well by what you say, but I'm just not sure You
can pull it off." One author said, Worry is the sin of distrusting the
promise and the providence of God, But we do it all the time.

Jesus knew we would experience trouble in life and that we would face things everyday that would cause us to fear, and yet before returning to heaven He made it clear that it would be possible for His followers to experience peace no matter what comes our way. Though we have an enemy committed to feeding us a soundtrack of lies to stir up fear, the Holy Spirit wants to bring us peace through a soundtrack of truth that stirs up faith.

The Parable of the Hidden Treasure
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
The most common way to interpret this parable is that Jesus is trying to help us understand the great value and treasure that is the kingdom of God. That above anything else that we could treasure in this life, the kingdom of God holds the most value.

For all of the nuance that a conversation about hearing God's voice requires, at the end of the day hearing God boils down to four words: Listen and follow Jesus. Through His Word and through His whisper God is speaking, the question we need to ask ourselves is: are we listening?

So far everything we have talked about has focused on learning how to
hear God’s voice for ourselves... through the person of Jesus... through
reading and praying through scripture with our head and our heart... but
prophesy is more about hearing his voice for other people.

We hate delays... we avoid delays... we’ll even switch lanes at the grocery
store multiple times just to avoid it.

There is no question that suffering is something none of us want to experience. Trials... troubles... rejection... its awful but learning to use it to help others... that is where joy can be found. That is where God can redeem our pain... where life can come out of horrific loss and your trail can have purpose.

From the depths of our souls we all long for belonging and acceptance. So when we experience rejection it cuts us deep, leaves us vulnerable, and can do a lot of damage to how we view ourselves. That's not how God wants us to live. We can build resilience through rejection.
