(Johnny) REŸES is a DJ, producer, and composer with two decades of work bringing sounds to the people. Beginning from the vinyl era in San Francisco cultivating his DJ skills in warehouses and underground parties beginning in 1999. From the SF rave scene, emerging in Santa Barbara then to Hollywood, Miami, Coachella, Robot Heart & Burning Man. Living in the jungles of Tulum since Jan 2020, REŸES has entered a new era of collaboration in his cultivation of music.
REŸES infuses culture traditional instruments with deep techno, emotion merged into melodic organic synths, driving afro-house rhythms, with a touch of vintage music from the vinyl era, world music and tribal chants, all meshed into musical celebrations designed to elevate your vibration.
More than just a performer, REŸES inspires the feeling that we are all GIANTS in creating a better world for ourselves. Through his music and dedication to human expression, we can heal, change, grow and expand to a place where anything in life is possible. In this episode entitled “From the Ashes,” I share my set from the man burn at Burning Man 2018. It’s been a transformative year for me and a lot of people I know. So, let’s celebrate the beauty of being reborn!!
This unexpected set at the man burn turned out to be my favorite of the week, as it is with a lot of unexpected things that happen in life. Along with a man burning, I was able to express the gratitude and love I feel for having such an amazing family at Camp Epic and such an amazing platform with Sparky, the beautiful art car (bus) I have the pleasure of managing and curating every year.
