Join your host Andrew Tisser and guest Bestselling Author Bob Burg as they speak about the value of providing genuine, unadulterated care to people, the perception of prosperity, and the five laws of stratospheric success. In this episode, Bob also explains an excerpt from Daniel Kahneman’s bestselling book “Thinking, Fast and Slow” and how its application tells us something about success. On value, Bob believes that giving and receiving is never a topic about whether it’s the one or the other; it’s both, wherein giving always comes first.

In this episode you will learn:

· The Five Laws of Stratospheric Success.

· Being a giver is not congruent to being a doormat.

· What determines your influence?

· The most valuable gift you can offer, and how its absence negates excellent skills.

· “That which we’re exposed to the most we tend to believe is most prevalent.”

About Bob Burg:

Bob Burg shares how a subtle shift in focus is not only a more uplifting and fulfilling way of conducting business but the most financially profitable way, as well. For 30 years, he’s helped companies, sales leaders, and their teams to more effectively communicate their value, sell at higher prices with less resistance, and grow their businesses based on Endless Referrals.

Bob regularly addresses audiences ranging in size from 50 to 16,000 — sharing the platform with notables, including today’s top thought leaders, broadcast personalities, Olympic athletes, and political leaders, including a former United States President.

Although for years he was best known for his book Endless Referrals, over the past few years, it’s his business parable, The Go-Giver (coauthored with John David Mann), that has captured the imagination of his readers.

The Go-Giver, a Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek Bestseller, has sold over 975,000 copies. Since its release, it has consistently stayed in the Top 25 on Porchlight’s (formerly 800-CEO-READ) Business Book Bestsellers List. The book has been translated into 29 languages. It was rated #10 on Inc. Magazine’s list of the Most Motivational Books Ever Written and was on HubSpot’s 20 Most Highly-Rated Sales Books of All Time.

Bob is the author of several books on sales, marketing, and influence, with total book sales approaching two million copies.

The American Management Association named Bob one of the 30 Most Influential Leaders, and he was named one of the Top 200 Most Influential Authors in the World by Richtopia.

Bob is an advocate, supporter, and defender of the Free Enterprise system, believing that the amount of money one makes is directly proportional to how many people they serve.

He is also an unapologetic animal fanatic and served on the Board of Directors of Furry Friends Adoption and Clinic in his town of Jupiter, Florida.

Join Andrew Tisser with Dr. Hala Sabry as they discuss being a mom, a doctor and a leader!

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Hala's own struggles with infertility.
  • Challenges unique to female physicians and strategies Hala has used to overcome them.
  • Why Hala almost walked away from the community that she built.

~

Dr. Hala Sabry is a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician, the founder of Physician Moms Group (PMG), and a super mom of five- with two sets of twins!

Being a mother of five has given Hala a unique expertise and skill set to help other parents in the medical field. After years of infertility, she found that balancing motherhood and a career in medicine was challenging. She frequently fought through fear, negative self-talk, and a recurring desire to quit her job in medicine, and she knew other mothers and physicians must have experienced the same struggles. She attributes having a solid support system (PMG) and life coaching in helping her manage her thoughts and reaffirm her “why.”

She created PMG six years ago to offer emotional availability and support to women like her. Although it has become the largest online support network for women physician mothers, with over 115,000 members, Hala is expanding her purpose and outreach to coaching individuals and businesses. She offers high performance coaching to professional women in male dominated professions in quest to fulfill their professional goals and discover the legacy they want to create. In addition, Hala works with health organizations to improve their recruitment and engagement practices to include more women.

Hala is a tenacious advocate for ending sexism and promoting gender and racial equality in the medical field. She believes that as a community leader, she has a responsibility to forge a path for other women and to elevate her fellow physician mothers. She’s collaborated with leading Fortune 500 companies and international organizations to further her work advocating for women physicians, patients, and children.

Dr. Hala Sabry attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she completed a dual degree program (D.O./M.B.A.). She now lives in Washington State with her family, where she encourages and empowers her sisters in medicine to embrace joy, vulnerability, and abundance. She is passionate about creating her legacy to pass on to her children and community.

~

Dr. Harry Karydes is an emergency physician, medical toxicologist and medical director who practices in the Chicagoland area. He understands the issues that physicians face every day. Stress, lack of motivation, and mental fatigue have become commonplace in medicine.

For years, he struggled to keep things balanced while growing at work and thriving at home, and his success came at the expense of his health and family.

He realized that he was beginning to experience burnout. He also saw colleagues and friends endure with this silent struggle.

Something needed to change.

Much has been written on the strides we have made toward patient well-being and quality of life. Yet, there is little written on physician wellness. And there are even fewer resources for the struggling physician.

Dr. Karydes has crafted habits that focus on reaching personal and professional goals without sacrificing one for the other.

As a writer and national speaker who has a passion for physician wellness, he helps overwhelmed physicians, residents, and medical students to live a life of focus and balance.

His mission is to give you the courage and the tools to learn, grow, and thrive in the important areas of your life.

About Dr. Una:

I am the founder of a Ivy League Pediatrics, a multi-site pediatric practice in Georgia. In 8 years, it has become very successful and has been voted ‘Best of Gwinnett’ four years in a row and has been rated 5 stars by more than 200 parents in Georgia. While building this, I developed a love for entrepreneurship and have since built other thriving businesses as well.

I started off scared, ignorant and feeling like an imposter because I am a doctor not a businesswomen. Over the years, I learned that the two do not have to be mutually exclusive and I embraced the business world. Now I am a better doctor and I have a greater impact on the healthcare industry because I am an entrepreneur. Also, I am able to practice medicine on my own terms, develop my other interests and best of all, not miss time with my family.

Now, I use my depth of experience and wealth of knowledge to help other physicians. I do this through speaking, coaching and writing. Over the past 4 years, I have helped physicians all over the world build businesses and develop multiple streams of income so they can love their careers and position themselves to leave a legacy…so you are absolutely in the right place!

About the Humanitarian Physicians Empowerment Community:

In this impending digital health era physicians need an easy way to organize in a digital space while also maintaining sovereign independence from centralized hierarchy and control.

Physicians took the Hippocratic Oath, and especially in this ever-advancing digital age, our duty to our patients extends to their protected health information, which includes the information we document in electronic health records.

As physicians our digital documentation and sharing of the patient’s information with third parties needs to end in order to preserve the sanctity and the privacy of the physician patient relationship.

Patients should have control over their health records. It is the physicians who create these records, so it is the physicians who need to build and provide access to the solutions to allow them to do that.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

· The different strategies and loopholes to take advantage of PSLF

· How important is PSLF to you depending on your savings rate

· Private refinancing and the PSLF

· The importance of setting up for financial independence

~

About Travis Hornsby:

I’m Travis Hornsby, and I’m the chief student loan planner around here.

I started Student Loan Planner in October 2016 after helping my wife and her friends figure out their six figure student loans.

I used to be a bond trader, so I took my excel heavy skill set and built models for how to save money paying back student debt.

When my wife and I tackled her debt from med school, there were not a lot of resources out there for professionals like her. Most of the sites that did exist just wanted us to refinance so they could earn a commission.

All of our team members either hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designations.

We all have a passion for conquering debt's hold on your life and mental energy.

Join Andrew Tisser (Talk2MeDoc Podcast) with Jim Dahle (The White Coat Investor) as they talk about finances for doctors. Jim is a self-taught expert on financing and investing who aims to help other physicians like himself to learn about managing their wealth. He reveals his strategy to pay off student debt in a few years and gives tips for long-time doctors who still might be struggling with their student debt. They also get into the significance of getting disability insurance during residency and other financial aspects that resident physicians need to be aware of.

By the end of the episode, you will learn to keep your spending down, be able to adapt to changes, and take a break from time to time. Enjoy!

~

About James Dahle:

"My name is Jim Dahle. I am a practicing board-certified emergency physician 12 years out of residency. Although I’ve always been interested in personal finance and investing, I really started diving into the field mid-way through residency when I finally got sick of financial professionals ripping me off. You can read the “origin story” for this blog if you want the gory details.

Bottom line, I’m apparently a slow learner, but I finally realized that if I didn’t acquire at least a basic understanding of personal finance and investing that I would continue to be the target of unethical financial professionals for the rest of my life, and perhaps never reach my financial goals. So I embarked on a lengthy, self-taught process to learn personal finance and investing, particularly as it applied to physicians and other high income professionals like myself. After a few years of reading books and blogs and participating on internet forums, I realized I was doing a lot more teaching than learning and that nobody was teaching this stuff to doctors. Not in medical school. Not in residency. And not to busy attending docs. I couldn’t find a single active financial blog out there that was directed at physicians. So I started it myself to provide the resource that I wish had been available to me. "
