This episode goes in depth of the lyrics of $uicideboy$ and how they say they influenced SoundCloud rap and other artists. I’ll take a look at how their music is alternative or in some form and how it is compared.
This episode will detail the American rock band Panic! At the Disco’s musical evolution from their 2005 debut album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, to their most recent body of work, Pray for the Wicked, released in 2018. I’ll be exploring the change in the genre of music as well as the change in executive and creative control within the group (i.e., Brendon Urie being the sole member since 2015 - how has that changed the musical direction from the band’s original roots?).
This episode will explore the albums Good News for People Who Love Bad News (2004) by Modest Mouse and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (1998) by Neutral Milk Hotel, mainly by examining their uses of instruments and recording techniques which are not traditionally used in the rock genre. We will discuss how these unconventional arrangements can set their music apart as “alternative.”
