We're back! Last year was a bit more challenging as children were born, illness took over, and we just lost the rhythm of the workflow to create these episodes, but we're back with a new year and a new book: The New Testament!

We're back! After a brief hiatus due to holidays and illness and getting out of the habit of recording, this week Daniel and Fili discuss the similarities between the Children of Israel and the Lamanites & Nephites of the Book of Mormon and their tendencies to follow an ongoing cycle of humility and repentance, progress and success, then pride, and an inevitable fall. They also discuss the story of Gideon and how his experience can be applied to out lives today. Finally, they discuss Samson and the many interesting situations he finds himself in and what we can take away and learn from those stories.

This year begins with...the beginning...like the literal creation! In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss the many lessons about the Plan of Happiness that can be learned from the visions of the Prophets Moses and Abraham as outlined in the Pearl of Great Price and how God established the foundation of His plan since before the creation of the Earth and has carried it on throughout all time until our day.

They also briefly discuss the history of polygamy in the church, what purposes it served, and the important doctrinal truths found in Section 132 that still fully apply today in a post-polygamy church.

In this lesson, Daniel and Fili discuss what the Lord means when he tells the early saints to "confound" their enemies and what how we should approach those that belittle, refute, or attack our faith today. They also discuss how the Lord does not want one's finances to be a barrier to access the blessings of the gospel and like William E. McLellin, even if we have moments of weakness, the Lord can still use our help to spread the gospel. They talk about infant baptism, the age of accountability, and what it means to us to have and know the consequences of our decisions.
This week Daniel and Fili discuss the fears that hold us back and the faith the Lord requires of us. They discuss the topic of bishopric and the literal descendants of Aaron, the responsibility of parents to teach their children the doctrine of repentance and to be good examples to them of a Zion people. Finally, they talk about the importance of both spiritual and temporal needs in this mortal life and how the church and the priesthood are set up to account for both.
This week Daniel and Fili discuss the actions involved in forgiveness, trust, and restitution. They discuss the Lord's charge to "be not weary in well-doing" and the effort that it takes to stay in the mindset to choose the right. They also discuss what is meant by the Lord wanting our hearts and willing minds.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the pattern of God as outlined in these sections, as well as the use of "recommends" for teaching the gospel and how they may apply to us today. They also discuss the faithful example of the early saints in following the Lord and His Prophet in the efforts to become a Zion people.
This week Daniel and Fili discuss the lessons and principles that can be learned from the interactions with those of the Shaker faith in 1831, including the example of Leman Copley and the rebuke by Parley P. Pratt. They also discuss the challenges of identifying true revelation and the counterfeits of the adversary as described in Section 50. They discuss the unnecessary and misaligned actions of the saints in the early church and how we must be vigilant to not fall victim to many of the same tendencies today.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the commandment of God to "stand in holy places," the nature of Jesus Christ as our Advocate with Heavenly Father, and the advice and warnings given in Section 45 about the Second Coming, especially through the lens of the parable of the 10 Virgins as found in the Gospel of Matthew.
In this week's episode Daniel and Fili discuss the foundational laws given to the members of the early Restored Church by with they should govern themselves and the actions of the organization. Other "utopian" type organizations of the time are briefly discussed in order to illustrate the difference between a group governed by the influence and philosophies of men, and a group governed by the principles of the Gospel. They discuss the complexities of unifying the members of the church and how the laws the Lord gave them are still very much applicable and relevant today.

In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss the needs for the early members to become more united and how that also applies to us today. They discuss the effects of the pandemic on church attendance and what lessons can be learned from this global trial. They discuss the cautionary tale of James Covel and how each of us must be vigilant to not miss out on blessings and opportunities because we are overly concerned about the things of the world.
After the Easter General Conference break, Daniel and Fili discuss the Lord's revelations to call several new converts to be missionaries and preach the Gospel to various groups. They discuss how this applies to members of the church today and how the phrase "Every Member a Missionary" is more than just a nice slogan, but also a call to action.
This week Daniel and Fili discuss the importance of the Plan of Salvation to understanding the purpose of this life, the events of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in the context of the Plan of Salvation, the fact that every commandment given by God has a spiritual foundation, and that the gathering of Israel begins with the proclamation of the Gospel to the whole world.
In this lesson, Daniel and Fili discuss the principles of the sacrament as well as what it means to put on the armor of God as outlined in Section 27. They also address the personal revelation and the corrections made by the Lord in Section 28 to Hiram Page as we began to claim to receive revelations for the whole Church.
This week Daniel and Fili discuss the need for contributions from every member to strengthen the church, the opposition that Joseph and Emma Smith experienced and how that echos through time for all disciples of Christ and the fact that if we wish to be treated with respect and tolerance, we must afford others that those same sentiments, the calling of Emma as an "Elect Lady" and the importance of hymns in building and strengthening testimonies.
In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss the first organization of the Church, including the principles of Common Consent & sustaining others in their callings, Repentance & Baptism, the responsibilities of different Priesthood offices, and how all of these concepts help us to be better followers of Christ.
This week Daniel and Fili discuss the revelations to Oliver Cowdery and David Whitmer in Section 18 regarding their role in the establishment of the Lord's church, especially the identification and calling of the Twelve Apostles. They also discuss the reassurances the Lord provides for Martin Harris in Section 19 regarding the importance of his funding the printing of the Book of Mormon and what those promises mean for us today.
This week Daniel and Fili discuss the revelations given to members of the Whitmer family in Sections 14-16 and the revelation given to Joseph Smith regarding the Three Witnesses in Section 17. Welcome back to Go & Do! In this first episode of the year, Daniel and Fili discuss a bit of the background behind Section 1, including the involvement of William McClellin and the council that determined the need for the precursor to the Doctrine &Covenants, the Book of Commandments. They then discuss the overall purpose of D&C as presented in the chapter, the promises of forgiveness and support that the Lord offers the world through His gospel, and the need that each of us have to "search these commandments."
In this final episode of the Book of Mormon, Daniel and Fili discuss Moroni's invitation for all of us to ponder the gospel in our hearts and ask God if it is true. They also discuss how Christ works through us to carry out the Plan of Happiness here on the Earth and gives us Gifts of the Spirit when when need them most. They finalize by recapping the first season of Go & Do and major takeaways from this year's in-depth study of the Book of Mormon.

It is always amazing how scripture from so long ago can have such applicability to our present and our future. The lesson this week certainly has many interesting parallels. With the Anti-Nephi-Lehis we learn how identity carries great meaning, that covenants and discipleship often require sacrifice, and that the Lord's message is for all of his children regardless of geography, background, or worthiness.

This week we study Alma and Amulek and their teachings to the people of Ammonihah. We discuss how our efforts to share the gospel often require persistence and patience, how God judges us according to the light and knowledge that we have, the importance of the Plan of Redemption and the role the commandments play within that Plan, and that when we do not harden our hearts, we can receive more of the word of God.

In this lesson we talk about what it means to have a change of heart and how it is merely the beginning of a larger process to become more like the Savior. We talk about how to fortify a fledgling testimony and how there is great strength in having faith enough to believe something is true even when you may not know without a doubt that it is true.

This week we discuss Mosiah 11-17 with Sarah Jensen. We discuss how we must stand for truth, even if that means we stand alone, that we need to apply our hearts to understand God's word, that the Lord sustains His servants even through all trials, the doctrine of the Father and Son being two separate beings that are one in purpose, and how we, our friends, and our families can be strong in the face of social pressures to compromise our standards.

In this section we discuss the change of heart that the people experience and what constitutes a true change of heart. We discuss the treatment of beggars and the fact that we are all beggars of some kind, whether material or spiritual. We also address the importance of covenants to retain a remission of our sins and being able to be called the people of Christ.
