Today I am joined by Dr. Barry Schwartz, the best-selling author of The Paradox of Choice whose Ted talks have received over 20mi views to date. He has spent the last 50 years researching and teaching the science of decision making, and so today we`ll talk about why less is more and how to make better choices in life.

Max Out Insights: • We can make a good decision and still feel unsatisfied. • The well-being of choices is subjective. • Worrying about how a decision will make us feel is appropriate since most of the time we are making decisions so we will feel better about our lives and ourselves. • The more options there are, the more inclined we are to take responsibility. • In an ideal world, we make our own decisions about what our fish ball looks like and then live by them. • It’s helpful if we focus on what’s good in a decision Instead of what’s disappointing.

Max Out Quotes: • “Instead of being liberated by all the options, people are paralyzed.” • “What’s more important: how good the decision we make is objectively or how good we feel about it.” • “The secret to happiness is low expectation.” • “Sometimes the world sets limits on what’s possible and we have to live within those limits.” • “We need something that imposes limits on the possibilities that we face and consider while we make decisions.” • “Good enough is almost always good enough.”

I am joined by Alan Weiss, a psychologist and Hall of Fame Speaker that has been called “The finest entrepreneurial coach in the world” by Marshall Goldsmith. Hes the best-selling author of over 60 books, and today well talk about his latest work on creating meaning and a legacy today.

Max Out Insights: • Life is the creation of meaning. It’s a choice we need to make every single day. • Your legacy is occurring every day. • In the morning set your head in the right direction and in the evening go to bed with positive thoughts about who you are. • You have to keep bringing people into your life that raises the bar, challenges you and makes you grow. • Never get comfortable and build “desks” • Being afraid of critique blocks the path to building a legacy. Max Out Quotes: • “Legacy occurs every day and we can control it.” • “Stop looking out and start looking inwards.” • “Self-respect is the key to everything.” • “We need to identify with whom we can learn.” • “Get comfortable in your own skin.” • “Spirituality is about contributing to the environment.” • “Time is not a resource, it’s a priority.”

I am joined by Srini Rao, a storyteller and host of the Unmistakable Creative podcast, where he has learned from the most creative people alive. Hes the bestselling author of multiple books on reclaiming your creativity, and thats exactly what we`ll talk about today: How to pursue your own definition of success and make your childhood dreams come true in adulthood.

Max Out Insights: You can only control your behaviour and your effort. Passion follows engagement. Diversity of ideas is a key aspect of providing unique content and not only “echoing” your surroundings. Anyone can learn and acquire new skills, but you have to balance with the probability of succeeding. You want the heart of an artist with the mind of a business owner. It’s a lot easier to stay motivated by measuring the way you’re progressing towards a goal by your behaviour and how far you’ve come and done. You need systems to make ideas happen. Creativity comes from creating. It comes down to: - “Is it meaningful for you?”

Max Out Quotes: “Get clear on the reasons why you’re doing something.” “Try before you commit.” “If you’re not offending someone, you’re doing something wrong.” “Focus on your behaviour more than the outcome.” “Even if you accomplish some big goal, you can never rest on your morals. If you stop doing the thing that got you where you’re at, you’re done.” “Learn how to filter for relevance and for relevance to you.” “There’s no point to consuming all this knowledge and not doing anything with it.”

Im joined by Clinical Hypnotherapist and life coach Rene Brent. Rene is the bestselling author of the Worry Agreement and How Big is Your But, so today well take a deep dive into going within, overcoming worries, and changing your subconscious mind.

Max Out Insights: Worry stops us from being happy, it makes us fear the future and stay stuck. Our thoughts can create feelings, listen to your body. You can use positive thinking and with that expanding feeling bring release to the tightness and bad sensation from negative emotions and worry. Suppressing emotions and feelings can bring short silence, but they will always come back and express themselves later. As human beings we will have negative in our lives, there’s a lot going on, so it’s about absorbing our physical and emotional reaction and becoming the observer. Anxiety is just a symptom of fear. Labelling emotions is a skill necessary to understand and overcome what you’re going through. We choose and create our own neurochemistry. Learn to connect with the joy and what makes you happy, cultivate that happiness in your life.

Max Out Quotes: •“Let go of worry, if you’re not in the present you’re not really living your full life. •“It’s very important to not only be comfortable in the quiet but know what to do when you’re there.” •“What we think creates an immediate reaction to our body.” •“Even though you think you turned off the volume, it’s still in the background.” •“How someone feels about an illness is usually what started it in the first place.” •“There’s a high price to pay if you do not look within if you do not become the boss of your subconscious mind.” •“Your physical body is a GPS to the subconscious.” •“When you’re aware you can acknowledge and release, and that’s how we do this without pushing it down.” •“Bad days lasts only as long as you want them to.”

Connect with Rene: You can find her work at www.renebrenthypnosis.com she would be honoured to have a call and help you. Don’t forget to connect with her on Facebook @ReneBrentHypnosis. Go find how big is your but!

Today I’m joined by one of my personal heroes, Jimmy Nelson. Some may call Jimmy a photographer or an artist, but as we will see over the course of our conversation together, he’s much more a student of life, people and happiness. Jimmy has spent his lifetime seeking out and celebrating the last indigenous cultures as well as extreme experiences around the world, so today we will take a deep dive into what truly means to be human and alive

Max Out Insights: You only feel when feeling confronted, hitting a wall, falling, bleeding. Those scars that you carry 24 hours are the lessons that push you through this authentic journey. Every day no matter wind, rain, sunshine, or storm. Make sure “one hair” becomes realigned. Through small steps with consistency that you can heal your mind and body. External validation will never be a source of a fulfilling life.

Max Out Quotes: “The essence and the beauty of being a human being is feeling.” “Spend every single day, every morning you wake up in that ritual and meditation, choosing one hair and realigning it.” “Until you truly let go, until you truly form humility, can you find empathy and in that empathy you find contact and in that contact you find out who you truly are, and who the people are around you.” “From every single conversation, you’ll learn something.” “One has to go through one’s own pain. It’s extremely important, understand what you feel and only once you understand what you feel you can start leading a life aligned with what you want to do.” “We all have a little voice inside, something telling us who we are and what we are.”

Connect with Jimmy: You can find his life’s work through www.jimmynelson.com and also other means of contact. There’s also a free app called The Jimmy Nelson on the Appstore and Playstore, don’t forget to follow him on Instagram @jimmy.nelson.official and accompany him on his journeys!

Today I am joined by transformational coach Catherine Plano, who is an international executive coach and founder of Rise and Thrive Global. We`ll take a deep dive into changing your mind, reinventing yourself, and becoming the leader and human you want to be.

Max Out Insights: You have to do the deep work in order to overcome and reinvent yourself. Being in your authentic self is about letting go of all that doesn’t belong in you. Your unconscious mind will never release anything unless you’re ready, and you have the resources to work through it. Shining light into limiting beliefs and understanding where they come from is the path to cease their power over you. Every time you spend doing something is an investment. Resistance, fear and anxiety is the key to change, personal and professional self-growth. The patterns of whatever is going on in your life will keep happening unless you do the deep work.

Max Out Quotes: “To be your authentic self is to be in your truth.” “If we are doing the deep work, we are constantly evolving.” “Once we become aware of what’s holding us back, we can start reinventing ourselves and recreating the life that we want.” “Fear is false evidence appearing real.” “Resistance is the sign for you to lean in and do the very thing you’re afraid of.”

Among many other things, he`s been named the #1 progressive talk show host in the United States, is an award-winning and best-selling author of over 20 books, and a world-leading expert on using ADHD to your advantage.

Max Out Insights: • Your mindset and self-talk have major effects on your performance. Be aware of how you communicate with yourself. • Listen to your body, there’s a certain point where it isn’t healthy to keep pushing. Ease your mind, recover your body and try a different approach. • Yoga is a gateway to access your mind and change your state both physically and mentally. • Be in the present moment, if you don’t have control over what’s on your mind let it be and focus on living the here and the now. • You can induce creative sparks and boost creativity by taking a simple walk in the park or going for a short hike.

Im joined by Dr. Jason Selk, one of the worlds top performance coaches. A counselling and sports psychologist by training, Jason has helped the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team win the World Series in 2006 and 2011, and now trains elite athletes and business leaders to develop mental toughness and perform at their best.

Max Out Insights: • Having too many goals can be worse than having none. Instead, it’s more productive and efficient to have one goal for each aspect of your life, such as health, career, relationships, community… • Focus on the process, rather than the end result. Focusing on our goals is nice, but the process is what lets us actually achieve them. • When it comes to setting short-term goals, it’s important that they are achievable and realistic goals, respectful to their time frame.

Max Out Quotes: • “The more you focus on the result, the further you are from achieving it.” • “Done is better than perfect sometimes.” • “Focus your mind on the process, rather than the end result.” • “Knowing what to prioritize, and subsequently deprioritize. Is a major key to success.” • “Our society needs to be focused on the solution.”

Joined today by Tom Sterner, founder of the Practicing Mind Institute and best-selling author of The Practicing Mind. Tom is a leading expert in Thought Awareness Training and helping people become more fully engaged in the pursuit of their goals to achieve greater joy, peace, and success.

Max Out Insights: • Have a target to aim for. No matter what you call it, this target, goal or resolution expresses the place to which you want to get. It could be anything from reaching an ideal weight, a clothing size, or a particular measure of physical fitness. • Your unconscious mind influences you. In fact, it controls you. It’s always listening. What you feed your mind can and will be bringing you either positive or negative thoughts, emotions and beliefs. • Don’t look for the accomplishment to happen prematurely, have accurate data on what you’re undertaking and understand how long it will take to master that instrument, goal, or ambition. • Mistakes are fine. Mistakes are information, not failures. Anyone who stretches their limits and takes major goals will make mistakes along the way. Look at the mistake with a cool head, open mind and sense of curiosity: “I made a mistake. What happened?”

Max Out Quotes: • “Your Interpretation determines and creates your experience.” • “We are not our thoughts; we experience our thoughts.” • “If you’re in your thoughts, you’re not in control.” • “Repeat the behaviour you want, analyze and relax.”

I am joined by the founder of Yoga Medicine, Tiffany Cruikshank. Tiffany is an international yoga teacher and wellness expert known for fusing the two worlds of eastern and western medicine together to help professional athletes, celebrities, and normal people alike create more vibrant lives.

Max Out Insights: • Approach Yoga with a purpose and intention in mind. That could be something general like whatever you have going on today or a deeper transformational approach by going deeper. • Notice our capacity to not have to interpret and judge, be in a neutral zone in which allows us to have a less reactive and less emotional stance, so we can see more clearly and navigate without being torn by the emotions. • Relax and take it easy focusing on the breathing and wellbeing, things that allow you to do whatever it is that you’re doing in a better way with a higher physical capacity. • Practice active recovery, there’s such a big difference between recovering and lying on the couch. Actively facilitate your mind and body to get you back on your full power.

Max Out Quotes: • “Our body is always in constant change and movement, yoga allows us to take control of the steering wheel.’ • “Learning to relax and take it easy is a fundamental aspect of athletics and Yoga.” • “Frequency is more important than duration.” • “Find something simple that you enjoy, you’ll be way more likely to repeat it.” • “The things you can repeat more frequently have a more profound impact long-term than the rest.”

Joined today by Dr. Paul Napper, a peak performance psychologist that helps business leaders level up their game. He’s the author of the phenomenal book The Power of Agency, and that’s exactly what we’ll talk about today: How to conquer obstacles, make effective decisions, and live life on your terms!

Max Out Insights: There are so many different aspects that align and come together to shape our decisions. We make decisions with our whole body, that’s why you should work on your limiting beliefs, emotions, physical and mental health. What we choose to believe has massive impact on how we go through life. Pause, reflect and update your beliefs. When we operate with beliefs that are inaccurate and outdated it oftentimes causes us trouble. Agency is important to try and acknowledge what’s real and what’s not. Agency is essential to feel control in life. Believe in your capacity to influence your thoughts and behaviour.

Max Out Quotes: “As individuals, we need to learn how to best adapt.” “Our capacity to reflect is vital to our level of agency. Create your space to reflect, get outside and take yourself into natural environments that promote greater reflection” “We all need to operate with beliefs and assumptions that help us navigate through our lives.” “What we choose to believe in life, influences how we live life.” ”Deliberate effectively and think critically before taking action in your life.”

Honoured to be joined today by one of the world`s leading scholars in human development and creating a life of purpose, Dr. William Damon. William is a Professor of Education at Stanford University as well as Director of the Stanford Center on Adolescence. He has been named as one of the 50 most influential psychologists in the world, and his work on purpose, morality, and parenting has received raving reviews from scientists and practitioners alike.

Max Out Insights: • Take time to sit and write your goals and ambitions, get a clear vision of what you want to achieve and be. With poorly thought goals or therefore lack of any goals your future becomes muddled, work frustrating and creativity dies in the process. • We make mistakes, don’t beat yourself but learn from the mistakes. The most important life lessons we will ever learn will be from the bad decisions we make. • Adding self-reflection to your daily routine is a great way to build your self-awareness. Through this practice, we are able to look at ourselves with interest and curiosity, digging deep into the questions of our very being. • The means that you accomplish something is just as important as the ends that you’re trying to achieve.

Max Out Quotes: • “Purpose is a long-term goal that reflects the commitment.” • “A purpose has to have consequence to the world beyond the self.” • “Keep a sense of perspective and be open minded.” • “Take joy in all the small moments.”

As a world-renowned fitness guru and founder of DDP Yoga as well as author of the incredible book Positively Unstoppable, DDP will help you own your life.

Scott also survived multiple rounds of cancer and now spends his time helping others get through life’s toughest challenges.

Max Out Insights: • Have accountability and be willing to answer for the outcomes resulting from your choices, behaviours and actions. You can only experience major breakthroughs when you’re honest to yourself. • Use the love you have in your life for your career, activities or people around you to push you forward and recharge you, make it that you’re driven by love, make it your fuel. • A positive attitude helps you stand and cope against the daily struggles of life. I am honoured to speak with John Addison, CEO of Addison Leadership Group. For 16 years, he was Co-CEO of Primerica, a financial service business with over 100,000 representatives, before embarking on his own entrepreneurial journey and teaching thousands of people around the world how to become the leaders and humans they want to be.

Max Out Insights: • If you want to be the best, you must learn from the best. They’ll have the experience and expertise of past failures intertwined with passion and endless drive for what they do. • Always be yourself. Adapt all your learnings to your own style and develop who you are, but always be you. • Failure is a crucial step to achieving success, it’s part of the whole process. It’s a tool that helps us refine our path and allow us to learn what works and what does not. • All successful companies revolve around human needs. It’s a people’s business, not a financial business. It’s all about learning how to deal with people and practicing it. • When you’re a leader you need people’s skills, ability to connect, communicate and move people. If you develop an ability to inspire, help and provide trust you can accomplish amazing things. • Capitalize on the areas you excel at. Focusing only on weakness, you will only grow in the areas where you have identified a problem. When too much of your focus goes toward problems, you cripple your ability to fully make use of your strengths. • Work on your inner tranquillity and use it to generate peaceful power. Great leaders calm things down and your state of mind dictates if you’re moving your organization in the right direction or not. Max Out Quotes: • “Take the best, leave the rest and turn what you learned into you.” • “You have to be true to yourself, work on yourself and be the best you that you can be.” • “We have to find within us the strength, compassion and power to do great things.” • “When you are the person responsible for moving an organization or a group forward, you got to figure out how to compromise.” • “The greatest ability is likeability.” • “My biggest definition of success is that you are happy.” • “If you’re waiting on circumstances to be happy, you never will.” • “A peaceful mind and core generate power.” • “Great leaders calm things down.” • “You make much better decisions when you’re calm.” • “Get up everyday and find a reason to be happy.” Connect with John: You can find in his website all contact and social media info. https://johnaddisonleadership.com/ Make sure to take your skills to the next-level with his book "Real Leadership."

She’s the best-selling author of Stressless Success, and that's what we’ll talk about today: How to build a life of passion, purpose, and prosperity.

Max Out Insight: • Our greatest struggles are also our greatest gifts, because they allow us to grow and later contribute. – The key is to pause and accept the challenge, realize that you’ve faced challenges before that helped you grow and become wise, wonder what this new challenge has to teach you. • To achieve success, you don’t need to stress, fight hard and be full of anxiety. These are walls of resistance that block solutions, opportunities and ideas. – Learn that the opposite is actually the truth, take actions out of elevated and expanded feelings. • When we take control of the energy and emotion of how we feel, we take back control of our lives. We’re driven by how we feel. • Take care of yourself, good self-care and wellness is key to high-energy, clear thinking and a successful life. Build the foundations every day, visualize the days ahead and your goals, step into excitement, joy and whatever it is that pushes you forward. • What is something I can do to be better? – There’s always something tiny that you can shift in the right direction, these small steps are going to have a massive impact on your day and ability to generate influence on the world. Be aware of the energy that you’re generating from within you and what can you do to create a better energy. Max Out Quotes: • “We have more power within us, than we ever knew.” • “What happens around us is a reflection of what is going on inside of us.” • “It’s far easier to shift the way you feel, than it is to control your thoughts.” • “It’s about shifting where you are now with what you have now. I’m honoured to talk and interview one of my personal heroes, world-renowned neuroscientist DR. Moran Cerf, who boasts one of the most impressive resumes you`ll ever find. Going from robbing banks and hacking video games to now cracking open the skull and peeking inside the brain while the person is still living, Moran now uses his wealth of knowledge to consult Hollywood shows, teach marketing and attention management to businesses, and even record your dreams.

Max Out Insight: • We are every day being influenced unconsciously by our work-office, household partners, peers and even strangers that we clearly do not have any relationship. The people we choose to spend time with will have major effects on our day to day pursue of success, being surrounded by people who can lift you higher is an essential key to growth. In essence, we become more like the people we hang out with. • Being honest with yourself is a major key to succeed and live your life at its fullest. If we aren’t honest, then we can’t expect to learn and grow as individuals. We have to be willing to recognize reality for what it is before we can change it. Honesty takes practice and is something done on a daily basis, but when honesty meets your willingness to change, there is no telling the ways you can grow and improve. • Our abilities to manage the flow of thought and emotion will have significant contribution to our happiness. We can create paradise or hell in our own minds. Developing the capacity to choose how to interpret and evaluate the situation is essential to keeping consistency and balance in our lives. • You have the ability to influence your experience and improve the filters of environment and information. A trained quality that the younger we start, the better we become. If we do not control our environment, our environment creates and control us and for that reason, shaping it directly is the same as shaping your thoughts and behaviours indirectly. • Take advantage of your dreams and make sure that before going to bed, you implement these tools into your routine. Reflecting on your daily successes and failures and taking the feedback of what worked and what did not. Expressing gratitude towards the people who helped and inspired you and also considering ways to thank others and give back value. Doing a quick review of your short-term goals and writing down the urgent and important plans for the following day.

Max Out Quotes: • “The world that you experience is up to you to manifest.” • “Things that are on your mind will leak into your dreams. It’s important to direct your attention.” • “If you don’t like it, don’t forget you didn’t like it when you have a position of power to do to others.” • “Our brains are very easily manipulated, even though we think we are smart.” • “If there’s a cake in your house, you will at some point eat it. The trick is not to have it and ideally, have someone who has more power helping you.” • “Our brain that is supposed to protect us will fail. We need help from entities, friends or systems created to allow us to do it.”

Today I’m Joined by John Wang, founder of the “One Kindness Challenge” that has inspired thousands of people to spread joy and kindness with the people around them. Kindness has been shown to create massive boost for your happiness, business and love life. We will dive deep into the science and practice of spreading kindness.

Max Out Insights: The secret to living is giving. You can be busy or have no money and still contribute and make someone else have their whole day changed with your spontaneous and genuine kindness. Kindness is a sign of strength and not weakness. It’s a sign of being able to control yourself, your circumstances and above and beyond take care of other people. There’s a difference between being “Nice” and “Kind. “It’s easy to be nice and smile and treat people respectfully but being kind is different. Being kind requires that we look at others and consider them properly. It requires that we let ourselves see ourselves in them and connect with them. Go out there and do acts of kindness, but also make sure you’re also giving back to yourself and spending as much time with yourself. Reflect the things you like about yourself and give yourself a compliment. When you are down at rock-bottom and don’t feel like giving kindness to other people, that may be one of the strongest places to start from. When you say “No” to something that you don’t genuinely get joy from you’re drawing a boundary. That’s when you’re actually giving yourself room to be kind more to other people. Because then, you’re not giving away all your energy to those you may not feel deserve it. Instead, you can direct your energy to give to those who you feel like genuinely lifting-up.

Max Out Quotes: “A smile or a compliment can have a massive influence over somebody’s day.” “Be kind selfishly, out of your personal desire to help others.” “Those who can lift-up others are never weak, but those who fall because other people demand them to fall, cannot be strong.” “We can’t have the ability to give to others if our own cup isn’t full.” “Self-Kindness is the recognition that you deserve kindness as much as someone else.” “Kindness is a social contract between two people, where they see each other as human beings and equals.” “It’s the smallest things that have massive differences.”

Welcome, today I'm joined by Dr. Alex Korb. A professor at UCLA that helps people use neuroscience to live better lives. He's a three times winner of USA Ultimate Coach of the Year as well as the Author of Upward Spiral, helping fight depression one small step at a time.

Max Out Insights: • We create depression and happiness in our lives through constant repetition of thoughts and behaviors. With little life changes you can start to impact the activity and chemistry of your circuits, being positive and exercising gratitude are two examples of what anyone can do to reduce their stress, increase their resilience and improve their overall happiness. • Every day we can go up or down. With small steps and changes, we decide the direction our feelings head into. If you exercise more, it will improve your sleep quality and when your sleep gets better than your brain is more rested and gives you more focus and that's how small changes eventually upward spiral us into a happy state. • The happiness overdrive we expect of our lives is misaligned with the real journey. It's impossible to be happy all the time. It's the full complement of emotions that make us complete and whole. • Any step towards the right direction is effective in changing your mental state, no matter how small it is. If you are stuck, taking any positive decision is better than having no action and doing nothing to improve your state. • The more you focus on things out of your control, the more out of control you feel together with anxiety and stress. While the same applies to focusing on things you can control, but with opposite effects increasing your calmness and lowering stress.

Max Out Quotes: • "Happiness is not the absence of negative emotions. It's just learning to accept, sometimes you feel better and sometimes you feel worse." • "When you realize certain things you can't control, then you can redirect your attention to things that you can control." • "What makes us stuck is trying to find the best decision, but any of them would be better than doing nothing." • “Focus on specific things you can control and that helps calm you down.”

Welcome back, today I'm joined by Dr. Enric Sala. A National Geographic explorer and founder of "Pristine Seas", a project that combines exploration, research and media to inspire leaders around the world to protect the oceans. Enric helped create over 20 of the largest marine reserves on the planet, covering an area half the size of Canada.

Max Out Insights: If we see further degradation of these ecosystems, we’ll see consequences for all nations, but especially those along the coasts, where the impacts of sea rise and storm surges hit hardest. The ripple effects of further damage to high seas biodiversity could reach all through national waters and up to the world’s major coastal cities. Lack of ocean protection will not only accelerate climate change and it could impact our resilience to its impacts. It's a natural human tendency to downplay eventual risks that we haven't felt the consequences or seen it in person.

Max Out Quotes: "If we do not realize now that our broken relationship with nature is biting back at us with wildfires, global warming, pandemic... we are going to keep digging ourselves deeper and deeper." "The ocean has this incredible ability to bounce back, we just need to give it some space." "If we don't act now, when is it going to happen?" "Nature gives five dollars back from every dollar we invest." "Maxing out my life would be reconciling what I need to do to pay the bills with my passion and my purpose."

I'm joined by Robin Dreeke, founder of the "People Formula" and former FBI Special Agent and Chief of the FBI Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program. With a mix of scientific training and super practical experience, Robin is a world leader expert in building rapport and creating trust. Today, we dive deep into what makes a true leader and how much more you can be when you unleash yourself from insecurities. Learn how to tap into the limitless power of contribution.

Max Out Insights: The greatest detriment to our own success and being able to take joy in other people's success is our own sense of shame, self-loathing, beating down on ourselves. With this self-hate we tend to not take joy in other people's success and instead direct energy and power into putting up a facade. Be comfortable with yourself and let go of your insecurities, tap into the limitless power of contribution and selfless help. Have full accountability on your life. Never place the blame of your decisions and mistakes on someone else. Own up the thoughts and opinions that make you. Leadership is not a title and position. it's about having a goal and objective with a way to get there. Accomplishing missions, creating an environment of safety for themselves and others both mentally and physically. They're a resource for the success and prosperity of those around them without expectation of reciprocity. Be curious, nothing works better for creating connection than curiosity. It's fundamental to building valuable relationships. Be genuinely engaged and through it, uncover what you might have in common and what value you might bring to that person's life.

Max Out Quotes: "Leadership is the ultimate form of giving." "It's not about how you make them feel about you, but how you make them feel about themselves." "Search for people's greatness, stop looking for what's wrong." "Focus not on what's in it for you, but what can you do to be a resource." "The first thing you got to do the best way, every single day, is to like yourself." "There's nothing better in making human connection than curiosity."

Today I have just the right person in taking your life into the next level. Kate Swoboda is the author of the Courage Habit. She's an expert when it comes to the signs of courage and cultivating courageous habits and that's exactly what we will talk about today. How to break through your fears and live your courageous life.

Max Out Insights: Living with courage doesn't mean having an absence of fear. Instead, when living courageously we focus on managing our fears differently. Thinking we need to be fearless will lead to stress and anxiety. Accepting fear and understanding its causation and motive, will allow us to tackle the root. Greatly improving our state to better achieve our goals and maintain a fulfilling life. It's possible to change behaviors and attitude patterns with only small steps. In the end, the sum of your consistency will dictate your progress. Be flexible in your approach. Sometimes your progress will be hindered and trying to fix it the same way won't bring results. Value your time and adapt to the situation. All the adversities, problems, difficulties that we face are what builds us into stronger and more resilient individuals. At the end of the day, even though the process may not be fun, you will be better emotionally and physically.

Max Out Quotes: "Community bolsters our emotional resilience. When people set goals and make a community driven, compassionate goal that benefits not just themselves, but others. Not only are they more successful in hitting their goals, but enjoying the process and being fulfilled." "If who you want to be is a courageous person, you have to practice the behaviors and habits that add up ultimately into being a courageous person." "Whatever it is that you want in your life if you are willing to stay consistent. Over time, somehow and someway. It starts coming towards you, things start to change or we start to change how we adapt to things." "It's not about flipping a switch. Notice the patterns and take macro movements. Slowing down, respecting the process and embracing our humanity."

After a career ending injury sidelined him from track and field, Adam had to rebuild his life and now spends his time helping other people seek mastery and lead their lives.

Max Out Insights: When all your focus is directed towards your passion, you'll develop a tunnel-vision which will work against achieving your goal. Understand your "WHY", have the awareness of your purpose. Not only to better direct your efforts, but to also manage your enjoyment.

Max Out Quotes: "What is your mount Olympus? What are you striving for and why? Get that really clear in your mission, to make sure you're pointed in the right direction, so then you can think about your actions. Do they move you towards your mount Olympus or away from it?" "The world is your own perspective of what you bring to it." "You cannot avoid tragedy and adversity, it's about having the perspective that it will pass." Coming from very humble beginnings on a small farm in Canada, Rock used the power of identity to become one of the worlds top realtors, open multiple successful businesses, and help others live their best lives!

87: A Key Idea to Build More Self-Confidence by Max Weigand

Ann Betz is the co-founder of BEabove Leadership and an expert in the neuroscience of consciousness, coaching, and transformation. And thats exactly what well talk about today: How to become more integrated human beings, build better brains, and take our consciousness to the next level!

Max Out Insights: Effectiveness is about less effort and more results As you become more integrated, you stop focusing too much on yourself Mine your past for gold - what did I learn and how does it help me now? If you want to manifest your dreams, visualize the feeling youre after Decide the feeling youre after and select people and situations aligned with that One key belief: I am good enough Find a circle that forces you to level up, with standards to uphold and expectations to meet We all set external goals, but what about internal ones: How honest and authentic can you be? How supportive and kind? How joyful and fun? The simplest, and yet hardest question you can ask yourself: What do you really want?

Max Out Quotes: “Were emotional beings, and then our brain comes along and rationalizes things.” “Keep dreaming and remembering in the helpful places.” “If you cant have compassion for yourself, forget having it for someone else. It all starts inside.” “Who do I want to experience myself as?” “We evolve at the rate of the tribe we`re plugged into.”

Today I am joined by our first repeat guest, world-renowned speaker and author Michael Gelb. If you havent checked out the first episode, we had an epic time discussing creativity, his work with the Rolling Stones, and How to Think Like Leonardo DaVinci! Today were in for another treat as we will be discussing his new book, Mastering the Art of Public Speaking, how to transform fear and supercharge your career.

Max Out Insights: Fear is almost universal, so dont beat yourself up for having it CAN > DOSE. In fear, we experience cortisol, adrenaline, and norepinephrine. The way to get out of this is by creating the neurochemistry of dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins through reframing fear into excitement. If you know what you want others to feel, its easier for you to catch that feeling Instead of just trying to “get through”, set intentions for your speech: What do you want your audience to know? How do you want them to feel? What do you want them to do?

Max Out Quotes: “If you can`t improve on silence, zip it.” “If you want to be a public speaker, have something interesting to say first.” “Everybody has butterflies, the secret is to get the butterflies to fly in formation.” “Excitement and terror are the same physiology, just a different framework.”

Lanny Bassham is a legend of the sports world that is a former World and Olympic Champion as well as 4x World Record holder in rifle shooting! After being told in 6th grade he was the least likely person in his school to ever win the Olympics, Lanny threw himself into Rifle Shooting and developed his Mental Management System that has since helped thousands of elite athletes, senior executives, special forces and many more to perform at their best when it matters most. If you want to master your self-talk, improve your self-image, and consistently make the most of your potential, this one is a must!

Max Out Insights: Every behavior has three phases: Anticipation, Action, and Reinforcement. In the anticipation we use the conscious mind to direct our thoughts, in the action phase the subconscious mind takes over, and in the reinforcement phase we change our self-image depending on what we think about what we have just done. When things go well, rehearse what went well. When things go bad, rehearse what would make it good. 3 questions for post-performance contemplation: What went right? What did I learn? What am I going to do about it? Don`t seek accomplishment, seek attainment: What you achieve + WHO YOU BECOME When challenges arise, ask: What is life teaching me?

Max Out Quotes: “I learned from my father that you dont take no for a no the first time.” “Everything in life has a best way to do it, you just need to find out what it is.” “Your self-image grows when you think about the solution and it shrinks when you think about the problem.” “Every shot I shot was either a success or a lesson. It wasnt win or lose, it was win or learn.” “Reality is not reality. Your perception of reality is your reality.” “If you talk about what went right, your self-image grows. If you talk about what went wrong, your self-image shrinks.” “Think about what you want to happen, not what you don`t want to happen.” “What you think about before and during this race affects this race. But what you think about afterwards affects all future races.” “Winning is about reaching the top of your potential.”

Mike Straw is the founder and CEO of Achieve Breakthrough, an award-winning organizational change consultancy that helps businesses improve their culture and leadership as well as achieve seemingly impossible breakthroughs. My dad is a huge fan of him, so of course I had to reach out and get some of his wisdom on creating breakthroughs in business and life!

Max Out Insights: Successful change efforts require a change in thinking Your current assumptions may have led you to here but prevent you from reaching the next level Before creating a new future, let go of your past results, stories, assumptions, and habits When asked what they really want to accomplish, people tend to look at their past to predict their future If you were already the leader you want to be, how would you think and act? What`s missing from you living your ideal life right now? Developing presence is key to dealing with uncertainty We learn best in action, not by sucking our thumb To learn from failure, stop beating yourself up and ask yourself: What would my winning moves be next time?

Max Out Quotes: “Leadership is the art of taking something that was impossible to possible to real.” “Most of the reason great things dont happen is because you and I have inherited some story of why it isnt possible.” “How do you start to be the way you want to be NOW?” “Collaboration, in the purest sense, is many great minds coming together and creating something that they could have never done on their own.” “If you get to a place where youre trying to prove yourself and youre not listening to whats really going on, youre going to have a massive failure.”

Max Out Insights: Selling is about discovering what the other person wants and giving it to them 5 laws of success: value, compensation, influence, authenticity, receptivity Price is a dollar figure, value is the desirability of the product to the user If you consistently show up as your best self, over time you become it

Max Out Quotes: “Giving is about constantly and consistently providing immense value to others.” “Giving is not only a more pleasant way of conducting business, its the most financially profitable way as well.” “No ones gonna buy from you because you have a quota to make. They will buy from you because they believe they will be better off because of it.” “Be a go-giver and a go-getter, just not a go-taker.” “Your true worth in the business-sense is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.” “All things being equal, people will do business with and refer business to those people they know, like, and trust.” “Authenticity should never be confused with not growing and staying where you are.” “The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.”

And thats exactly what we`ll talk about today: How to use breathing and ice to master the mind and live your life on fire!

Max Out Insights: When you enter the water calm and you leave the water calm, it allows you to consciously process the impact and deal with your emotions Breathing: 30 breaths (full inhale, partial exhale), breath hold, recovery breath, repeat You can strengthen the mind by deliberately seeking discomfort You can create joy, bliss, and fulfillment on a daily basis through cold water, deep breathing, and the right focus Emotions are neurochemical reactions of our body that we interpret as pleasant/unpleasant, so to feel positive we need to create the neurochemistry aligned with that

Max Out Quotes: “The beauty of the ice is that it always delivers the same results.” “Train your breath, and everything else will grow from there.”

Today Im joined by the real-life superwoman Janine Shepherd, one of the most inspiring people Ive ever met. At 24, Janine was Australia`s biggest hope for an Olympic Gold in Skiing when a horrible accident suddenly shattered her dreams and almost her life. After being told she could never walk again, Janine decided to bring the same fire that won her the nickname Janine the Machine in sports and apply it to life, and has since inspired millions of people around the world to develop resilience and realize that a broken body does not make a broken person.

Max Out Insights: • When you get broken by life, find a reason to get out of bed and keep living • Study your victories to repeat them: Once you see that overcoming obstacles is a process, it makes it easier to do it again • What do you think, feel, and do at your best? • You build resilience by being resilient

Max Out Quotes: • „Rock bottom doesnt show you who you are, it shows you who youre not. And it showed me that Im not my body.“ • „If I cant do that, what can I do? If I cant walk, then maybe I can fly?“ • „How do you create a new identity for yourself? Inch by inch.“ • „I cant cherrypick my experiences, Im gonna take them all: The good, the painful, and the joyful.“ • „I truly believe that what we really want in life is not just to be happy, but to have a life of meaning.“ • „My happiness is more of a contentment of knowing that Im doing what Im meant to be doing.“ • „Dont compare your life to others on social media, just run your own race.“ • „What brings me joy? What makes me come alive? What creates meaning for me?“ • „Whats the gift in this?“ • „Learn to love the hills of your life. Whats your hill in life right now? Max Out Quotes: “When we get stressed, things tend to be exaggerated.” “What couples lack is not love. What they lack is skills to manage life under stress.” “The one you`re looking for is you.” “Real listening is when I put aside my story and my internal dialogue and really listen to who you are.”

Today I am excited to talk to John Zeratsky, the best-selling author of the books Sprint and Make Time. After 15 years as a designer for technology companies such as Google Ventures and YouTube, John and his wife decided to quit their jobs and travel through Central America for 18 months. With those experiences, John now focuses on speaking and writing about making time for what matters.

There`s hundreds of defaults in our environment that influence our behavior in suboptimal ways. Think of your phone constantly ringing or your browser sending you email notifications. By raising awareness to these defaults and then changing them, we can take control of our time and attention again. Living a disciplined life is more about the right processes, habits, and environments than having massive levels of willpower If you want to wake up earlier, you need to be realistic about when you need to sleep

Make Time: 4 Step process: 1) Define your daily highlight (doesnt need to be work) 2) Lazer your focus and get rid of distractions Busy Bandwagon and Infinity Pools How to deal with email Switching cost: Why its most effective to focus on one thing at a time 3) Energize your body and mind throughout the day Cental Park Your Plate: start with salad first importance of rest and recovery on ability to perform 4) Reflect, adjust, and keep experimenting What was your highlight? Did you make time for it? How were your energy levels? Which strategies did you employ and did they work?

After an incredibly successful 10 year career, Annie has taken her interest in peak performance and and studied many of the worlds greatest athletes for her phenomenal book Mind Games, trying to understand what sets them apart from the rest. And thats exactly what we`ll talk about today: How to develop the psychology of an elite athlete to thrive in all areas of your life!

Max Out Insights: Youre always competing - against yourself or somebody else Competition can bring out the best in us - World Records arent set in training, but in the Olympic final with the whole world watching Competition can also bring out the worst in us - when we start comparing ourselves to others or previous or idealized versions of ourselves, base our self-worth on our performance, or neglect other areas of life In elite sports, the highs are very high and the lows are very low As an athlete, you create your own reality and self-justify your odd lifestyle to be able to stick with it, even if the rest of the world doesn`t understand The most important and difficult challenge is achieving your true potential Belief is a choice - you choose what you want to believe and then convince yourself of that new reality

Max Out Quotes: “People dont set world records in training, they set world records in the Olympic final.” “Sport is something you do, but it doesnt define who you are.” “Do you stand on the starting line actually believing you can win the race?”

What do you want your life to be about?” “You dont have to figure it out all at once.” “I kept doing one thing at a time that I really loved and figured out how I could learn it as intensively and achieve as much mastery as possible in the shortest amount of time possible.” “Theres a part of you that is way smarter than you are, and the smartest people learn to consult the smarter part of themselves.” “Without energy, you wont get anything done.” “Its actually easy to get great ideas. As the best-selling author of 10 books including Strength Finder 2.0 and the former head of Gallups research on employee management and leadership, Tom is the world`s leading expert on building your strengths and creating a fully charged and meaningful life!

Max Out Insights: When kids face challenges growing up, they end up becoming stronger than kids that dont How can you match what the world needs with what you have to offer? Focusing on how your work impacts even one other person supercharges our motivation and wellbeing Focusing on meaning and contribution is more effective than happiness Our social relationships are the single best predictor of our overall wellbeing When you force an introvert to act more extroverted, their wellbeing increases There are 3 basic functions of every team: Create, relate, operate Being charged daily starts with small decisions in 3 areas: Eating, sleeping, and moving. If you make good choices in these areas every day, it creates an upward spiral of energy and success Focus on whats important rather than what`s urgent

Max Out Quotes: “How do your efforts serve another human being?” “The more time that I spend thinking about helping other people on a given day, the less stressful it is and the easier it is to get things done.” “Instead of asking Where can I find happiness?, I think the key is to say Where can I create happiness for another person?” “It`s probably a good thing to challenge parts of our personality that could help us to create more wellbeing for ourselves and other people.” “The more you can orient your time in a day around those contributions your work makes for other people, the less regret you have and the less stressful your days are.” “The more you go up the ladder of success, the more interested people are in others and the less self-focused they are.” “The more you can connect short-term incentives with the right long-term goals, it becomes a lot easier to make the right decisions as you go through the day.” “Find a way to bring a reminder of who your work serves into your daily routine.”

Max Out Insights: Are you doing things for your pleasure or the pleasure of other people? Be transparent about who you are and what you want from people Start with the first millimeter instead of planning everything in advance Cultivating ignorance for our difficulties can be powerful

Max Out Quotes: “We run away from pain faster than we run towards opportunity.” “Usually the thing we avoid is the thing we most need to do.” “What`s the first millimeter you can walk to move you towards your goals?”

Mo Gawdat is the former Chief Business Officer at Google’s [X] and the author of the amazing bestseller Solve for Happy. After decades of incredible success as a businessman that included Mo opening up almost half of Google`s offices globally, Mo found himself successful but miserable and turned to studying happiness as a way out. In 2014, his practice was put to the ultimate test when his son Ali died during a routine surgery, and Mo has dedicated his life to making people happy ever since. If you want to learn how to bring happiness into TODAY, this episode is for you!

Max Out Insights: Society teaches us that life success hinges on material success, and thats the only way to be happy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Outward success cannot produce happiness or security, because these are internal states of BEING, not end states to reach and stay at You dont have to waste 25 years of chasing success before realizing that happiness is within you Why even 16 cars (including 2 Ferraris!) wont make you happy The greatest joy you get from money beyond meeting your basic needs is making others happy When you give, you get back more than what you give Happiness is the optimal state of performance To be both successful and happy, set your ambitions high and your expectations low How you feel about yourself when youre by yourself is the ultimate measure of success

Max Out Quotes: “Be successful in life, but be successful for the right reason.” “Your happiness is equal to or greater than the difference between the events of your life and your hopes and expectations of how life should be. Its that comparison that makes you happy or unhappy.” “The game is so much more interesting when its difficult.” “Because life is a game, what you do is you want the difficult parts.” “The only things you can control in life are your actions and your attitude.” “Its the hardest thing ever for some of us to sit alone and meet ourselves.” “Unless youre a serial killer, there`s no good or bad. Max Out Insights: The Upper Limit Problem is like a thermostat, always taking us back to the “temperature” we are used to in the various areas of our lives 4 underlying barriers: Feeling fundamentally flawed Disloyalty and abandonment More success brings a bigger burden Fear of outshining 10 Second Miracle: 5 seconds breathing in, 5 seconds breathing out Approach life as a long series of lessons you need to learn 10 Second Truth: Whats an uncomfortable truth youve been avoiding to share with a loved one? Today I am joined by not just one, but two very special guests: With me in the studio is my amazing friend Tâmara, who is a huge fan of our guest joining us from Brazil, Clóvis de Barros. Clóvis is a professor of communication at the University of Sao Paulo, and an internationally renowned expert on communication, ethics, and happiness. His TedX talk on happiness in the here and now has gained him not only a standing ovation but almost 2 million views online, and once you see his energy and enthusiasm, you`ll know why. If you want to be happy in life, this is an absolute MUST-WATCH!

Max Out Insights: You are happy when your mind is completely occupied by the present moment and does not seek to be anywhere else Perfection in our craft (whether washing dishes or doing our most precious work) gives immense joy to us Happiness is useless, meaning it does not need to have utility beyond making you happy. However, as an added benefit, research has shown that it also makes you more productive, healthy, and successful The fear of death follows us all the time, so one of the tasks of life is to reduce or even eliminate this fear Being a good person helps you be happy, but is not enough to be happy

Max Out Quotes: “Our life is the here and now. Its not in the past. The past is just a question of spiritual remembering. And the future is also a mind-production, but nothing exists in the past or the future, so life is here and now. And here and now, life can be happy.” “Most of the things you look for are absolutely useless for your happiness.” “Happiness is the end of the line. It has value in itself. It doesnt require anything else to be useful.” “Most parts of your life you choose, and for you to choose properly you have to have in mind the kind of life you want to live.” “Within the limits of our own nature, we can do the best we can. That is excellence” There are both moral and spiritual values necessary for living a good and happy life “The value of my life is your smile.”

People tend to step into the stories you create for them. The best leaders, friends, team mates, and loved one are the ones that see a version of ourselves that we can`t even see and constantly affirm that to you. What kind of story have you created around the people around you? One of lack and frustration, or one of unlimited possibilities?

View Details

The most common path to misery is found in our attachment to believing that some event in the future will finally make us happy. By prioritizing happiness today, we can learn to engineer moments of joy, love, gratitude, and bliss into our lives on a daily basis instead of having to wait for "one day".

View Details

On this episode I am joined by not just one, but two special guests: With me in my studio was my buddy Leandro (in fact many of my videos are inspired by our endless discussions on philosophy and living a good life!), who had a little fanboy moment because we got to chat with one of his long-time heroes, Brad Warner. Brad is the founder of the Soto Zen Meditation Center in LA as well as a punk rocker, ordained monk, and creator of monster movies. He is also the author of Hardcore Zen and many other books on Zen practice, monsters, and death, so we had a great time diving deep into sitting still and doing nothing!

Max Out Insights: A committed spiritual practice is like putting yourself in jail - you give up your freedom to acquire discipline Emotional states are like the weather - they come and go all the time. When you stop attaching to and owning your emotions, they lose their control over you What makes happiness go away is trying to hold onto it The pursuit of enlightenment has no finish line Sports and music can be a great substitute for meditation to get into the present moment Its the attachment to outcomes that causes much of human suffering Instead of arguing to win, argue to find the truth. That way, losing is actually a good thing because it means you learnt a new/better perspective Your reason for meditation is the thing that makes you sit down, but once you do sit down you need to let go of that Zazen is good for nothing - youre not trying to do something with it, just be present and do what you do completely Often, people become more stressed through meditation because it makes the darker parts of your mind reveal themselves. This is a natural process of diving deeper into your own psyche, but can be difficult to handle when it comes as a surprise Society makes us believe that we need to be happy all the time, which makes us avoid pain, sadness, and suffering When you limit your access to distraction, you free up your time and energy to focus on the things that matter Suffering is often connected with the sense of self: “I am bad/useless/incapable etc.” Question all your beliefs and judgements in regards to yourself and others

Max Out Quotes: “If you want to have a happy life, you have to establish some kind of discipline. If you have too much of what people call freedom, life becomes chaotic.” “When people realize that the thing theyre attached to is an illusion, they often freak out and stop the practice.” “You cant contribute to the world if youre not balanced yourself.” “Just try to make a small difference.” “Do the thing youre doing, but don`t concern yourself with the outcomes. Do it as purely as possible.”

Hes worked with athletes at the highest levels of the CrossFit Games, Jiu Jitsu, boxing, and others, so we had a great time diving deep into building a powerful mindset, dealing with pain, and ending self-sabotage.

Max Out Insights: Your performance comes down to your story - the beliefs you have about yourself and the world. Limiting beliefs sabotage your ability to succeed when it matters most If youre struggling mentally at crunch time, its because you havent addressed it outside of crunch time. If you want to be great it competition, you need to prepare to be great in practice. Competing from a place of lack/not being good enough can derail our performance. Instead, switch to a place of gratitude for past performance. Focus on the skills/talents/opportunities that you do have rather than the ones you dont, and you will see your motivation soar When youre lost in the woods (metaphorically or literally), dont start by asking “Where should I go?” Instead ask first: “Where am I? Whats my point A?” Then: “Where am I going?” What is your story? Im not good enough? I never manage to do this? Im a perfectionist? Observe your Inner Athlete/your subconscious beliefs: Journaling is a great tool to identify whats on your mind. If theres something you dont want to write, write it down immediately to shine light on the shadows. We tend to reject chaos because it scares us, but it`s also the only way to grow

Max Out Quotes: “If we put you in the right state, optimal performance just happens.” “If we can create harmony amongst the different areas of our lives, our performance just steps up in the areas that you want it to.” “The way we grow is by moving from order to chaos and thereby increasing our areas of competence.” “Chaos is just order waiting to be deciphered.” “When the gratitude for the things you do have outweighs the yearning for the things you dont have, thats when youll feel good.” “Its in the darkness that we find the biggest treasure. To find out what you`re truly capable of, you need to venture into the unknown.”

View Details

One of the primary ways we sabotage our success is by going too hard too soon, thereby scaring our brain away from the unknown and back into our comfort zone. Instead of a revolution, personal transformation is a gradual evolution of mind, body and spirit that is predicated on small, daily improvements.

In other words, its the confidence you have in being able to take action and move forward in your life. According to Albert Bandura, one of the historys most influential psychologists, there are 4 primary ways to increase self-efficacy: Mastery experiences, vicarious learning, social persuasion, and physiology.

This was inspired by a dinner conversation with my best friends. If every choice you make and action you take is a tradeoff between the different areas of your life, how much are you willing to sacrifice for your dream? How much are you willing to monomanaically focus on one thing at the expense of all other areas or your life? No right or wrong here, just more or less awareness and conscious choice. So, what are your values and priorities? And how much are you willing to sacrifice to get them? Is there a point where you would quit? Getting clear on these questions in advance will make it a lot easier to make the right choice in the moment.

Max Out Insights: Embracing your misfit is all about using the weird quirks and differences about you to your advantage Once you ask “How?” rather than saying “it cant be done”, things become fun To achieve the best results, you need to understand the people around you Daves favorite personality test, which he changed into a game of animals: DISC D: Dominant. Self-determination theory (SDT) asserts that for people to be at their best, they need to fulfill three basic and innate drivers: Relatedness, competence, and autonomy. Only when these three needs are met will you be able to max out your potential and truly engage in the process of self-actualization.

Relatedness refers to the quality of relationships in your life. Through the mechanisms of emotional contagion (you begin to feel what the people around you feel) and the mirror neuron system (you begin to act like the people around you act), both your psychology and behavior is highly dependent upon the people in your circle.

Competence refers to your sense of progress towards accomplishing meaningful goals and building worthwhile skills. As Teresa Amabile from Harvard University has shown, what matters most here is frequency over intensity. Rather than chasing the next promotion 2 years down the line, you`re much better off improving your speaking skills for 20min this Friday.

Autonomy is all about choice. How much are you in the driver`s seat of your own life? The more you are in control (or focus on the things inside your control instead of the things that are not), the more motivation and wellbeing you will experience.

According to the American Psychological Association, most of what we intuitively believe and do to recover and recharge from work, sports, and life is actually detrimental to our performance. Rather than seeking out dopamine-driven pursuits such as junk food, social media, and video games, it is far more effective to engage in activities that release serotonin and oxytocin, such as meditation, exercise (unless you`re trying to recover from exercise ;), hanging out with friends, reading a good book, engaging in hobbies and other creative pursuits.

Going from drug addict and cleaning toilets at 17 to now teaching millions of people what it takes to succeed, Tim is gonna add massive value if you want to learn how to overcome limiting beliefs, get out your comfort zone, and create the success you want!

Max Out Insights: The beliefs we have are usually not chosen, but conditioned by others If you want to change, you need to stop being yourself - As Tim says, if youre an apple tree but want to grow pears, you need to stop being an apple tree (metaphorically) and start thinking and operating like that pear tree Who do you need to be right now in order to achieve your goals? Wear that identity now If you pull on an elastic band, it will snap back. But if you keep pulling and pulling, eventually it will snap. Thats called a breakthrough. To break through your limiting beliefs, snap them by doing something outrageous and totally your of your comfort zone.

Max Out Quotes: “Success is reaching the highest version of your highest vision.” “If youre fearing rejection, get rejected. Like big-time rejected.” “Follow your heart and take action.” “Most people are scared of the pain of following their dreams, but what will be the pain if they dont?” “If you would never watch a boring movie, why would you live a boring life?” “I already knew what it felt like to give up, so I wanted to see what would happen if I didn`t.” “Make your palms sweat today.”

Whats the #1 positive outcome/benefit? Whats the #1 internal obstacle holding you back from achieving your goal? Whats your plan to overcome that obstacle?

If you want to learn how to lead and live from abundance and take your life to the next level, you`re gonna love this episode!

Max Out Insights: If you want to change the world but neglect yourself, youre diminishing the impact you could have Your feelings are like a radio station - you need to know the frequency/emotion youre after to experience it You can tap into joy, worthiness, love, and any other emotion by choosing to experience it right now Static practice: Sit down for a few minutes and tune into the frequency/emotion you most want to feel Fluid practice: Take the emotion you created during the static practice and bring it with you throughout the day

Max Out Quotes: “The number one role of a leader is to create more leaders, not followers.” “A persons number one job is their own happiness. The longest relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself.” “If you fundamentally lack the ability to fill yourself up from the inside, you will seek out external means to do that.” “In the background of what were doing is who we`re being.”

Max Out Insights: We live in a culture of absence, where its normal not to be present and available to life around us Oftentimes, the reason we stay checked out is because we arent able to live with our emotional experience yet As Einstein said, we need to know whether our mind is our master or our servant

Max Out Quotes: “Presence is multi-level connectedness. Connectedness to my body. Connectedness to my emotions. Connectedness to all parts of my mental capacity. Connectedness to my passion and purpose. And all of that held in a connection to a more deeper and transcendent space.” “True presence means I am here and I am available.” “We live in a myth of connectivity that covers the fact that there is actually very little connection.”

In nearly 50 years of world-leading research on how our brains can change, Dr. Merzenich has helped invent the cochlear implant, published over 150 scientific papers on brain plasticity, and helped people all over the world to build better brains.

Max Out Insights: Out brain`s adaptability//plasticity is our greatest gift that allows us to thrive in virtually any environment There is usually no management of brain health, people simply wait for disaster and then try to heal it The more demands you place upon your brain, the stronger and more effective it will become

Max Out Quotes: “The brain changes physically and functionally as a result of how you use it. Its a very modestly formed machine when youre born, and then improves its processing capacity.” “One of the ways in which brain differences are expressed is in the very elemental processing ability that the brain is capable of achieving. How reliable is it? How fast is it? How accurate is it? Reliability, accuracy, and speed are an indication of how healthy your brain is physically.” “If your brain is healthy and active, one of the first things it does is upregulate the brightness and aliveness that commands your day. You wake up in the morning, youre eager for life, and you live life with the lights on. You control the dimmer switch.” “Everything positive and negative in life shouldnt be limited to what we see on a screen.”

Kenny Weiss is the Founder of the Greatness Movement and author of the highly reviewed book Your Journey to Success. After suffering from trauma early in his life, Kenny struggled for years with divorces, addictions, bankruptcy and suicidal thoughts. While writing a suicide note to his children, he realized that he couldn`t justify his choice because he had learned too much about psychology, and instead decided to create a process that would help him and later thousands of others to heal from their pain and move towards greatness.

I was blown away by Kennys insights on dealing with trauma, overcoming fears, and chasing greatness, so Im excited to share this episode with you!

Greatness Insights Weve been taught to pursue external success, which we use to validate ourselves and medicate intolerable pain. Instead of success, pursue greatness by becoming an expert at something and taking your pain, trauma, and struggles head on rather than hiding from it. Finding your greatness is a lifelong pursuit The Worst Day Cycle: Trauma, Fear, Shame, Denial 2 basic human needs: Attachment and authenticity Trauma happens when we deny our authenticity because we are afraid of losing attachment. This denial leads to low self-esteem because we arent willing to show our true nature When we experience fear, we create an emotional and chemical reaction in our brain, which our brain seeks to repeat because it does not know right from wrong, only known from unknown. Because its comfortable to stay in the known, we tend to repeat behaviors that dont actually serve us simply because weve become used to them When we deny our authenticity, we tend to create false personas to get our need for attachment met (Kenny played two pro sports he never wanted to play). In addition, we victimize ourselves and seek out situations that hurt us to attract attention from others. This and the fact that we now choose to victimize ourselves instead of having others victimize us gives us power because we are now in charge. This process leads to self-denial though because we dont want to face that were living as a false persona and are responsible for our own misery. The moment you accept total responsibility for your situation is the moment you regain your power because now you can fix it When we criticize and blame others, all were doing is face our own Worst Day Cycle and our own inadequacies and projecting them on others Change starts with massive awareness: How do you ACTUALLY feel? “Good”, “bad”, or “okay” don`t count. Time to go deeper. The fear of failure is a myth because all of us know what it takes to make our life better, we just choose not to do it because chasing our success would force us to be our authentic selves, which may cost us our attachment to the people we love

Time Magazine named him one of the most influential people in the world and Mens Fitness called him one of the fittest athletes on the planet, so we`ll take a deep dive into dealing with pain and what it takes to become the best version of yourself!

Max Out Insights: You could listen to others talk about running all day, but you will never fully grasp it until you tie your laces and head out there If your motivation lies in gaining something (dream body, fitness, etc), you will have a harder time doing it than if you just enjoy the experience itself Just focus on being your best today You can`t control circumstances or your competitors, but you can control yourself Racing for times and places can take the fun out of running Every morning, before you do anything else, do 10 burpees

Max Out Quotes: “Running, and especially ultramarathoning, teaches you that youre better than you think you are and that you can go further than you think you can.” “Failure doesnt stop people. Its the fear of failure that stops people.” “If you dont make it, die trying. Leave it all on the track. After graduating from Harvard with a PhD in Organizational Behavior, Tal went on to teach the most popular course in the history of Harvard University, write multiple groundbreaking books, and speak to 1000s of people around the world on what it takes to bring happiness to life. We took a deep dive into what happiness really is, the most effective ways to reach it, and why it`s a skill that takes work just like running a marathon.

Max Out Insights: Hedonic adaptation: Success and things can`t lead to lasting happiness Relationships are the #1 predictor of happiness Embracing painful emotions is a key component of a happy life Lifelines vs. deadlines: Goals are about lifelines because they provide us with meaning and enliven us in many ways, but only if they are self-concordant goals, meaning goals that are personally meaningful Journaling through asking yourself deep questions is a powerful way to gain self-awareness and pursue the right goals

Max Out Quotes: “There`s a reverse relationship between happiness and success. While success does not lead to lasting happiness, happiness does lead to more success.” “What are the things that are really meaningful in my life?” “Stopping and thinking, that is a key element of a happy life. And after stopping to think, then going into action.” “Somehow people think that if they decide to be happy, they can just be happy like that without planning and working hard.” “People say they want to live happily ever after, but that decision is not enough. You have to invest in your relationship just like you need to invest at work or playing music or running a marathon.” “When it comes to psychological skills, people have a deep misunderstanding of what it takes to excel in these areas.” “Learn to fail, or fail to learn.”

If you want to learn how to maximize your productivity, become a more interesting person, or be named Lord of Sealand, this show is for you! Max Out Insights: Just say YES! Often, the things we dont think well enjoy end up being our favorite things A real story is not just a recollection of events from your life, but a moment of insight or transformation Homework for life: At the end of every day, ask yourself: What is the most story-worthy thing that happened today? Without journaling/a way to keep track of our lives, its easy to forget what we did last Tuesday, let alone months or years ago Remembering the past to see how far youve come can make the weight of today much lighter – Reminds me of Dan Sullivans concept of Gap vs. Gain: By always focusing on whats missing (the gap), we often make ourselves miserable. But focusing on how far weve already come (gain), we get to appreciate how much better things are now or how we might have grown until now Instead of juggling several balls at once, place them on the ground while focusing on one. Once you`re done with it, take the next one What would the 100 year old version of me want me to do? Training yourself to avoid instant gratification goes a long way in living a truly fulfilled and productive life Celebrating and honoring the little steps along the way makes the whole journey more enjoyable Max Out Quotes: „If someone forced me to go on stage right now and tell a story about something that happened today, even if the whole day was boring, what is the item I would pick?“

Max Out Insights: Pain is a signal to call attention to an unhealthy state of things and move you into action Making decisions in a state of anger or frustration reduces your brain capacity to that of a mammal (at least close to it), so get in a calm state first (nature is always a great way!) before making important decisions Before we start pursuing success, we need to define what it means for us to be successful Alternative ways to measure authentic success: Daily joy; high-quality relationships; feeling connected; growing/evolving; meaningful life goals; financial flow; optimal health and vitality Think you are lacking confidence? Focus on developing courage instead by doing difficult things

Throughout his illustrious career, he has also won numerous teaching awards and served as the president of the Canadian Psychological Association among many others. I had a blast talking to Dr. Latham about goal setting, the biggest mistakes people make, and how to finally stick to your good intentions!

Max Out Insights: Goal setting and achievement give you a sense of purpose and accomplishment How to set successful goals: Specific and challenging Specific goals beat vague dreams Take into account ability: If the goal far exceeds your abilities, you wont commit Goal Commitment: If you dont commit, youre wasing your time Get feedback Have a strategy If you focus on your goal and have a plan for getting there, you will be better off even if you dont achieve it If the end goal is too bit, set sub-goals to have more regular accomplishments “Do your best” goals are all but worthless Finding role models that are on a similar path can help you keep going when you want to quit Take into account your surroundings: Setting up your environment to align with your goals goes a long way in maximizing your performance Tracking your progress helps you get excited about your growth and therefore take better actions Tell people exactly what your goal is and get their support Accomplishment prevents burnout When you set your daily goals, don`t go home before you achieve them Deliberately seek out constructive criticism and feedback to improve your craft If you find that you lack the discipline, get resources (like a trainer at the gym) to help you follow through Make people feel comfortable saying “it stinks” about your work to get useful feedback and get better

Max Out Quotes: “If you set these lofty goals but dont commit, youre just wasting your time.”

Max Out Insights: The Warrior mindset is about gaining control over oneself: your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual layers Self-mastery is the most important skill of the 21st century, and gaining it will give you a competitive advantage in life and business At what point would you stop going after your goal? If you can come up with a point, dont pursue that goal because the setbacks will inevitably come your way Change wont happen overnight, but it will happen inevitably if youre doing it right When you experience pressure and nervousness, ask yourself why you feel this way and put your expectations into perspective again When you can completely control the event, only rehearse positive outcomes. If there are forces outside your control (like an objection in sales for example), also rehearse the obstacles and how you will navigate through them to a successful outcome BTFAR: Beliefs > Thoughts > Feelings > Actions > Results Using the pain of negative events and failures is a powerful way to drive yourself to the next level Its your responsibility to be guardian of your own mind and decide which thoughts, ideas, impulses, and opinions you want to enter your consiousness Max Out Quotes: „When you get involved with the physical and experience doubts and fears coming up, the doorway to the mental opens up.“ „The words we use dont describe but create our experience.“ „If youre lacking in the physical arena, where else are you lacking?“ „You dont stop yourself from being distracted because then you force yourself not to look. If you focus on the goal, youre automatically not distracted.“ „When you mentally rehearse that upcoming event over and over again, you train your unconscious mind to release the pressure.“ „You are responsible for programming your own mind. If you don`t take that responsibility, the world will do it for you.“ „If you want to develop mental strength and live a different life, start telling yourself a different story.“ „Is this thought or emotion in alignment with the life you want to create?“

Dave Schrader is a Senior Partner at Full Circle Group with over 30 years of experience in leadership development with some of the biggest companies in the world. With a PhD in Organisational Behavior, Dave is an expert at helping leaders make lasting changes by mastering the external and internal game of leadership. More importantly, he came highly recommended by several people in my circle including my dad, so of course I had to reach out and get him on the show!

Max Out Insights: The Inner Game of leadership is about choosing our purpose and perspective and living from it every day in every interaction Great leaders play to win through service and creativity. Bad leaders play not to lose to protect their ego Setting intentions for how we want to show up changes our brains on a neurochemical level, which has been shown by science to be contagious. If we want to lift up other peoples emotions, we first need to lift our own In the past, scientists thought that by the time he hit 20-25 years, our brains and personalities were matured and fixed. Now we know thats not the case and that theres several stages of adult development we can pass through if we choose to do the work: Egocentric: The world exists to please me, and if it doesnt, I`ll get angry Socialized self: Instead of believing the world centers around us, in this stage we put ourselves in the natural boundaries of society to better fit in and be effective Self-authoring stage: I write my own story now by declaring my values, goals, and interests, and then living by them unapologetically Self-transforming self: We start to acknowledge all the dark and negative aspects to bring together light and darkness. We move from “me” to “we” Unitive self: The sense of “self” disappears and we become one with the thing we are doing Trauma, pain, and even nearing death can be a spark of growth and accelerate our pace of development Reflection and quiet time are necessary for our 1000s of thoughts to settle into 100 and then 10 and then perhaps even into no thoughts Just 2 minutes of mindful breathing can be a total gamechanger and create the space for creative ideas to come in Forest bathing and getting out in nature goes a long way in helping us feel calm and relaxed Coming from a place of “Learn how” rather than “Know how” allows us to gain new insights and become better What are you willing to die for? To stand for? To live for?

Max Out Quotes: “Most of us dont know, but we wont tell each other for fear of the ego embarrassment that it causes.”

Dr. Procrastination aka Dr. Timothy Pychyl from Carleton University is the world`s leading authority on procrastination. For the last 20 years, he has researched why we procrastinate, the negative effects that has on our lives, and of course some practical techniques to finally get ourselves to do the things we say we want to do. If you want to learn how to tame the monkey mind, this episode is for you!

Max Out Insights: Procrastination is detrimental to our performance, health and wellbeing, while often leading to guilt, stress, and heart disease We process information regarding our future self like a stranger, which often keeps us from making rational choices Self-oriented perfectionists try to do good job because they like it, while socially prescribed perfectionists try to live up to other peoples standards. Not surprisingly, socially prescribed perfectionists experience more anxiety, negative emotions, and procrastination Our monkey minds are a main reason for procrastination, so we need to keep the monkeys busy by asking: Whats the next action? Or: What would be the next action if I was going to do this? Using Implementation Intentions puts the stimulus for the action in the environment and therefore makes us more likely to act: In situation X, I will do Y Mindfulness allows us to develop a non-judgemental attitude towards our thoughts and feelings, thereby making it easier to deal with unpleasant emotions and stick to our intentions When we think about things concretely, our brains treat them like the present. When we think about things abstractly, our brains treat them like theres no urgency to them. Therefore, thinking about your goals and intentions very concretely makes you more likely to follow through. Replace “I´ve got to read this weekend” with “Ive got to read 5 more pages in chapter 3 on Saturday at 2pm”. The Inner Child from a neuroscientific perspective: Childrens prefrontal cortex (center for logic, reasoning, and self-control) is not matured yet while the limbic system/reptilian brain that is responsible for impulses is fully active. Thats why children have a hard time controlling their impulses and our “Inner Child” comes when there`s a mismatch between the two and the limbic system takes over. An amygdala hijack occurs, which means that your emotions dominate your decision making A transgression with someone else usually leads to avoidance. Similarly, procrastination is a transgression against the self and leads to avoidance of the thing that makes us feel guilty or ashamed. Therefore, when we try to get ourselves to do something and fail, we often do anything to avoid the same situation in the future. Learning self-forgiveness is the best way to overcome this

Max Out Quotes: “Procrastination is a voluntary delay of an intended action despite knowing youll probably be worth off for the delay.” “Procrastination is failing to get on with life itself.” “Procrastination is not a time management problem, its an emotion management problem.” “Motivation follows action. No one said you have to be in the mood.”

Jairek Robbins, son of the legendary Tony Robbins, is a peak performance coach and the best-selling author of Live it, who has inspired millions of people around the world to live a happy, healthy, and successful life. We dove deep into morning routines, moving from fear to excitement, and what it truly takes to live an extraordinary life!

Max Out Insights: Who we are becomes part of the fabric of the people around us. We only truly die when the last person who knew us speaks our name for the last time. Much of the greatest joy in life comes from slowing down. As Jairek says, if youre making love to your partner, you dont want things to end quickly. Thats called premature. The most beautiful moments in life are the ones that are so stunning they take away our breath and make us be slow down to experience the beauty of what is. Slowing down is hard because it makes us face whats going on in our head, so learning to live with yourself is one of the most important skills you could ever develop How often do you turn off your phone, look in the mirror, and tell yourself 3 things you honor about yourself? 3 things you appreciate about you as a human? 3 things you admire/love/enjoy about yourself? Fear lives in three places: Body, emotions, and mind To get the fear out of your body, use cold showers or the special breathing technique Jairek teaches at 23:20min To get fear out of your emotions, change your focus: Where`s the miracle in this moment? The blessing? The opportunity? To get fear out of your mind, use affirmations and other positive messanges to create an empowering inner dialogue Most people have the dreams of the .001% but the habits of the 99%

Max Out Quotes: “Life is like the mist. When you walk in the mist, it soaks into your skin and becomes part of the fabric of who you are and will therefore always be part of who you are moving forward.” “If I only had six days to live, how would I go about living those days to know I lived fully, I loved deeply, and I did something that mattered?” “Moments like this slow everyone down. The thing is, some people will enjoy it while others will be miserable. Thats the decision that you have to make: Is this a blessing or a curse?” “If all you have is a heartbeat and a breath, you have more than enough to do goodness in the world and to enjoy your life.” “Most of us dont take the time to fill ourselves up with the love that we want to experience. If I take an empty glass and I try to pour into your glass, you won`t receive anything. So how often do you take the time to flood into your mind and body the love that you want to share with those that you care about?”

Dr. Joan Rosenberg is the founder of Emotional Mastery and a world-leading expert in the fields of self-confidence, emotional strength, and self-esteem. She has been a featured expert in several documentaries, has a patent in performance skill development, and has helped thousands of people around the world to master their emotions and take control of their lives.

It was so fun to dive into these topics because many of the things Dr. Rosenberg suggests are quite literally the foundation of what I did to transform my own confidence and emotions, so get ready for a super-practical episode with lots of food for thought!

Max Out Insights: We cant always choose how we feel, but were in control of how we respond – how we manage it and how we express it Metaphorically (or actually) hiding in your bed to escape your emotions is (who would have thought!) not a good strategy. To release emotions, we need to engage with them Unpleasant emotions exist because they are protective in nature Acknowledging our unpleasant emotions helps us feel whole as opposed to half a person because we try to cut off half of our feelings The most common unpleasant feelings or states: Sadness Shame Helplessness Anger Vulnerability Embarassment Disappointment Frustration Naming the emotions we feel lessens their impact and makes it easier to deal with them How to bring awareness to your feelings: How am I feeling? What triggered this? What is it connected to? Is there something from the past this is linked to? How to transform your feelings using the Rosenberg Reset: 1 Choice, 8 Feelings, 90 Seconds Choice: Awareness instead of avoidance > Lean into your feelings 8 feelings: Tune in to understand what exactly you are feeling 90 seconds: We experience feelings through bodily sensations (for example the heat in your throat/face when you get embarassed) that are short-lived and transient, lasting only about 90 seconds as a neurochemical reaction before flushing out. Therefore, the way to handle unpleasant emotions is to ride one or more short-lived bodily sensation waves In the short-term, leaning into your dark side feelings can be a powerful motivator. However, be sure to use this only in acute moments because overdoing it may be detrimental to your happiness and joy over the long run Confidence is an internal job. While outside praise can help, its only by mastering our inner world that we develop true confidence The first foundation of confidence is the ability to handle unpleasant emotions. The second is to speak up with ease and assert yourself You develop confidence by speaking up. You dont need to be confident first, your confidence develops out of the act of you speaking. Being harshly self-critical is exponentially more detrimental than experiencing unpleasant emotions

Max Out Quotes: „I don`t consider unpleasant feelings as bad or negative because I know they are protective.“ „The ability to deal with unpleasant emotions is the foundation of confidence.“ „Confidence is the deep sense that you can handle the emotional outcome of whatever you face or whatever your pursue.“ „Difficulty speaking up is not a speaking problem. Difficulty speaking up is a difficulty with unpleasant feelings problem.“

Emiliya Zhivotovskaya is a fellow positive psychologist and the founder of the Flourishing Center, which strives to make the world a better place by teaching people the skills of resilience and positive psychology.

After immigrating from the Ukraine at the age of 6 to escape Communism and Chernobyl, Emiliya had to face severe obstacles like the death of her brother, her moms cancer, and living in a new country, which led her to develop an intense curiosity around the power of the mind and what it takes to live a flourishing life. After getting her Masters degree in Positive Psychology, she is now pursuing her PhD in Mind-Body medicine and a leading voice in the fields of wellbeing and resilience!

Max Out Insights: The stories we tell ourselves affect how we feel about our lives. Is what youre telling yourself on a daily basis serving you or disempowering you? What new story could you create that would give you more peace and happiness in your life? PERMA-V – Positive emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement, and Vitality are all pathways to happines. How many positive emotions do you experiene on your daily basis? How about your net positive/negative? How engaged do you feel every day? Do you have experiences of Flow and opportunities to stretch yourself? How is the quality of your relationships? Do you have people around you that love and you support you and vice versa? Do you experience meaning and purpose in your life? How much do you get the things you want out of life? Are you able to set goals, build the right habits, and achieve what you want? How is your physical body feeling? Are you fully nurturing your body through nutritious foods and envigorating exercise? After traumatic events, not everyone responds the same way. Some people struggle. Most people are resilient and get back to normal. Others experience post-traumatic growth and actually grow stronger and better BECAUSE of the adversity they faced. If youre struggling with trauma of any kind, especially professional help, social support, creating a more empowering story, and setting small, daily challenges can help. Mental Mastery comes down to 3 key skills: The self-awareness to notice when you engage in unhelpful thoughts or emotions, the self-compassion to understand where they come from and not beat yourself up, and the self-care to take active control of your thinking and choose helpful over unhelpful. Happy people reframe failures as opportunities for learning and improvement, while unhappy people view them as personal failures that mean they are not good, smart, beautiful, talented, etc. enough. Developing a growth mindset and looking FORWARD to failures as a stepping stone to success is key.

Max Out Quotes: „So much of our wellbeing depends on our thoughts, our belief systems, and the lens through which we see the world.“ „We create our own stories and therefore our own realities.“ „Mastering the mind is the ability to identify your thoughts in real time, choose thoughts that are useful, and redirect thoughts when they aren`t.“

People have said that the science of peak performance can be divided in two eras: Before Anders Ericsson, and after Anders Ericsson. Its rare that someone shapes our understanding of psychology and human potential in such monumental ways, and yet thats exactly what Dr. Anders Ericsson did. Dr. Ericsson is Professor of Psychology at Florida State University and the worlds leading expert on what it takes to become the best in the world in domains like sports, arts, music, medicine, and many more. For the last 30 years, he has studied the most accomplished people on the planet to uncover their “secrets”. What he has found is a message of hope and inspiration for anyone seeking to be great, no matter what age or background. According to his research, the right kind of practice (or, as he calls it, deliberate practice) enables even people with less obvious signs of talent to become world-class and develop expertise in their chosen profession. Dr. Ericsson has been a personal hero of mine for almost a decade, and its so much fun to meet your heroes in person and realise they are even cooler than you thought they`d be!

Max Out Insights: We all have a special gift: The ability to adapt to the demands that are placed upon us Adaptations can range from physical (heart) to mental (focus) characteristics Virtually any skill or attribute with the exception of your bone length can be improved through the right kind of practice Setting goals outside your comfort zone and engaging in deliberate practive is required to improve performance Its not enough to mindllessly practice the same things over and over again, you have to deliberately seek out new challenges if you want to make use of the adaptation response True learning only occurs when you change your behavior Practicing with the intent of gaining new expertise is different from performing at the best of your current skillset > You have to stretch yourself in new ways Experts have control over their performance, meaning they can perform at peak levels reliably Sufficient sleep is critical for your ability to show up at your best day after day – the best performers in Ericssons studies slept between 8 and 9 hours every day, including a long nap in the afternoon The best performers are religious about protecting their practice time. No matter what happens or who calls, they show up every day to do the work Pursuing life projects where you will never run out of space to grow into is an excellent way to find purpose and gain expertise For some people, planning for the worst possible outcome lets them forget about it

Max Out Quotes: „Living in a cage does not make you a geologist.“ „Do your very best, and that`s all you can do. Once you have done that, you can sit back and see: What could I have done better?“

Whats the best thing that could happen? Your ideal scene? Why isnt your ideal scene happening right now? > What comes up here is your underlying belief of why you arent succeeding yet What is the statement that counteracts that belief? What affirmation can you use? Hard work does not necessarily mean financial success, but smart work does > Make a plan Balance between work and rejuvenation is key to long-term success Taking naps and taking time off from the daily grind is an excellent way to become more productive

I had such a great time on this episode with JJ Birden, former NFL wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons. At only 510 and less than 160 pounds, JJ was the smallest man in the NFL but still managed to last an astonishing 9 seasons in a game where the average player only lasts 3 years. Through hard work and determination, he has since become a successful business man, best-selling author, and Americas #1 Opportunity trainer.

Max Out Insights: Pain can be a powerful motivator for change If youre willing to break yourself in half for your dreams, talent almost doesnt matter. If you`re not good enough today, you can develop yourself to become great tomorrow. Your parents are there to protect you, not to throw you out of the nest and push your outside your comfort zone My definition of success: Being in love with life. What makes you fall in love with life is being on the Quest for Greatness and chasing the things you love for the sake of the path. To get to know yourself, ask great questions Clean your thoughts and beliefs like others clean their room
