In this episode of The Jane Anderson Show, I'm so thrilled to interview one of the exceptional women I know, Ronnie Benbow. Ronnie has always had a burning passion for providing a safe, nurturing, healing centre to rejuvenate and educate unpaid family carers experiencing extreme stress and exhaustion.

Ronnie is particularly passionate about young children who care since they usually have no choice and receive very little support. Most people do not even realise there are children, often as young as eight years old, in caring roles.

Having a background in health and experiencing her own family caring circumstances, Ronnie knows professionally and personally the relentless demands and debilitating stress that family carers endure daily.

Prior to establishing the charity, Ronnie, with the support of her husband Michael, was personally funding carer wellbeing programs for 15 years.

In 2015, following the passing of her beloved father, Ronnie established The Carers Foundation Australia in honour of her parents to fulfil her dream of caring for carers.

The purpose of the foundation is to provide preventative well-being programs to support the emotional, physical and mental well-being of carers, with the aim of preventing health crisis breakdowns.

Ronnie is fully committed to raising awareness and the importance of supporting unpaid family carers in our communities. She has worked tirelessly to provide a voice for this often-overlooked sector.

At the same time, she works to attract funds through donations, grants, fundraisers, and corporate partnerships since the charity is not government funded.

To this date, The Carers Foundation Australia is the only charity that provides wellbeing programs to support Carers FROM 12 YEARS OLD - at NO COST to them; of which Ronnie intends to expand nationally.

Because of her dedication, Ronnie has been recognised and has received numerous awards, including a finalist in the Australian of the Year and awarded the Moreton Bay Citizen on the Year in 2021, and more recently, the 2022 Brisbane in Women Awards for Community Justice and the 2023 Heart of Women award for Making a Difference.

In this episode of the Jane Anderson Show, I'm so amazed to get to interview an exceptional lady, Melissa Lithgow.

Where some are left or right-brained thinkers, Melissa Lithgow is a hybrid. As a strategic marketer, she loves structure and strategy, yet she's big on aesthetics and creativity. While she prides herself on impeccable organisation, it's her vivacious energy and genuine care to support others in achieving success that underpins her service.

For her clients, this means results-based strategies, which outlast fads and create authentic brand followers.

Too often, she sees small business owners trapped in inaction because of fear and overwhelm. The little action they do take is task driven instead of strategy driven, getting them nowhere slowly.

That's where she comes in.
Based in Perth, Australia, Mel is focused on delivering a premium consulting service to medium-sized businesses and C-suite decision-makers to achieve long-term growth and improve the bottom dollar.

When working with her, she takes her clients beyond the day-to-day operations where most business owners get stuck to operating in blue ocean thinking.

She has a proven track record consulting across a multitude of industries. She's worked with brands like BHP, KPMG, Caterpillar, and Alta-1 and successfully rolled out large-scale:

  • Sales & marketing strategies
  • Strategic sales & marketing operations
  • People management initiatives
  • Effective internal & external communications

Access to her expertise is available through:

  • Coaching
  • Strategy Development
  • VIP days

This episode is about LinkedIn in particular whether you need a business page or company page and how to manage it if you are creating one.

Your personal LinkedIn profile is an extension of your personal network and brand. It’s a way for you to connect on a personal level online. A business page is slightly different. While personal profiles have connections, company pages have followers.

Some benefits of having a company page include: Elevates the quality of talent applying for a role. Potential employees will review your company page, so make sure it reflects your organisational values. Leverage company visual branding by including images and logos. A company page is also a great place to share videos. Add specific products and services and launch new products and services. Share updates and provide a collection of information team members can easily share within their own personal networks. This allows the company to engage with followers.

Some disadvantages include: Needs an allocated page manager with a process in place for hand-over if the person leaves the organisation. Ongoing maintenance is required to ensure relevance.

An important point to note is that if you attempt to set up a company as a personal profile, your profile will be removed by LinkedIn. This means you lose all your connections and will have to start all over again, as LinkedIn ultimately owns your connections, not you. So don’t risk it!

Episode 26 - The Role of LinkedIn for Different Levels in your Organisation

4 Levels of an Organisation's LinkedIn Strategy:

  1. CEO
  2. Executive
  3. Managers
  4. Business Development

To be found on LinkedIn and stand out from the crowd, it is important that your organisation’s staff profiles have a clear purpose. A person makes a decision about someone within the first three to four seconds of landing on their profile, so it is vital that your company’s profiles align with your organisation’s LinkedIn strategy.

Episode 22 - Creating a LinkedIn Group

This episode is about LinkedIn Groups and how they can build your personal brand; but also are they really worth the time, energy and effort as they can take a bit of work?

When you look at LinkedIn overall, assuming that you have an account, if you don't then maybe it's something you would like to think about as part of your personal brand as part of yourname.com, one of the ways that you can really build your positioning and your LinkedIn profile is showing that you are the expert at something, that you know how to do stuff, answer people's questions or share content.

LinkedIn provides this opportunity to have a group and LinkedIn has about nearly 400 million people at the moment and you have 5 profiles created every second, it's just extraordinary; so you've got the ability to connect and invite people to a group if you're building it.

On your profile, you can have up to 50 groups and if you have a look, there are thousands of groups, some are open groups where you can join without having to hold a certain qualification or some you need to be in that particular industry.

One of the things you need to think about, depending on what you are trying to do, groups could be an opportunity for you. In Seth Godin's book, Tribes, he talks about the people who are most likely to buy from you are people who already know you. He also mentions people are trying to create these connections of tribes or people who operate like you, think like you and understand what you are saying. A group could be an opportunity to do that.

The purpose of a group is to connect with other people who are like-minded or have a similar problem that you can potentially solve.

What he has to say about using yourname.com in your business:

Best thing about yourname.com enables you to change and not have to constantly change your website domain.

You're constantly changing and evolving. By sticking to yourname.com that's your base camp at the foot of the mountain and you might go off and climb one mountain and then come back to base camp and then go off and climb another mountain, cross the other side of the valley, but you're still coming back to yourname.com, your basecamp and that can evolve as you evolve.

Episode 16 - Present with Impact

I believe that people buy from people and they buy from people who they know, like and trust. I'm obsessed with people being able to connect so that they have enough impact on their communications; so that we can all go out there and help the people we want to help.

I find that a lot of people think Personal Branding is this narcissistic look at me type of approach to building a business. But I don't think it's about that at all. I think it's about being able to connect, inspire and engage your audience. Not that it's about you, but it's actually about your client. It's about helping your audience become the best they can be, but you need to be really clear about who you are so that they can connect with that.

So today's episode is all about presentations and speaking.

Alternatively, you don’t have time to spend on social media and don’t even see the value of it. Attempter. You’ve tried putting some time into your LinkedIn profile but you’re not getting any results. You’re about to give up if something doesn’t change. You feel overwhelmed and it all seems too hard. Rockstar. You’re confident and killing it. You know how to design your profile to attract your ideal client. You’re leveraging your content, approaching your clients with ease and generating leads. You know the process, have the system in place and it’s a strategic part of your sales process.
