Simon Double and co-host Phil Boyle return for a slightly delayed episode of Inside the Rails, recorded ahead of Glorious Goodwood.
Phil has had a busy month with BG Racing buying 50% of a two-year-old filly with last month's guest, trainer James Keane. He chats to Simon about this and the other BG Racing horse.
Simon has had a quieter month, but shares the Solario Racing news before the hosts tackle two issues that hit the sport in July, the Gambling Commission affordability checks and allegations surrounding Deva Racing.
They move on to review the key summer races before welcoming a guest with a famous surname, Jamie Piggott.
Jamie talks through his career path into becoming a bloodstock agent and has been lucky enough to work with some of the biggest names in the sport along that way. He outlines his approach to supporting his clients and highlights some of his notable purchases.

After our first double-guest episode last month, we are at it again when we are joined by joint-training licence holders, Daniel and Claire Kubler. We are all used to hearing someone on the racecourse public address announcing winners and presentations and providing other details on a race day. Laurie Brannan was the first person to carry out this role back in the 1960s and with his son Philip still doing that job at Newbury and Goodwood, the Brannans are well used to a microphone! This month, they both joined Simon and Phil on Inside The Rails to discuss how racecourse announcing began and to recount some stories from their experiences on the racecourse. This month, Simon and Phil have both been racing at Lingfield Park with runners on the same day! They look ahead to the Cheltenham Festival before they are joined by leading jumps trainer, David Pipe. David looks back at his journey into racing and the long relationship between the Pipe and Scudamore families started by his father Martin, whose stable jockey was Peter Scudamore, and continued through David and Peter’s son Tom. The recent retirement of Tom leaves a big hole in the team at Pond House Stables. David also identifies some of his favourite horses from the past and looks ahead to his possible runners at the Cheltenham Festival in 2023.

This month, ITV Racing broadcaster Rishi Persad joins Simon and Phil on Inside The Rails. Rishi has covered most major sports in his career but tells us why horseracing is his first love. Simon and Phil discuss their highlights from the Grand National meeting and the early classic trials. Leading flat and jumps trainer, Amy Murphy is this month’s guest and provides some interesting insights into the running of her Newmarket stable.
Simon and Phil review the 2021 Cheltenham Festival and select their personal highlights. Guest Dan Abraham, Chair of the Racehorse Syndicates Association talks about his Spot into horseracing via football coaching and describes the experience of having been involved with two runners at the Festival, one of which is due to contest the Grand National in April.
