Revival Archives is a podcast that inspires Christians to seek God for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, by bringing the blessings of the past into the minds and hearts of those living in the present.
The history of the church is a history of religious revival. From the day to Pentecost, to the Protestest Reformation, to the Great Awakening, to the Lewis Revival, and many moves of the Spirit in between, we can thank God for a rich history that encourages us to pray for revival.
George Whitefield was born in 1714. In 1738 (May – September) he visited America for the first time. He returned November 1739, and his preaching was greatly used by God to stimulate the Great Awakening in various parts. This episode looks at his first visit to New England.
Rev. Samuel Blair was born in Ulster in 1712 and moved to America in his youth. He sat under the instruction of William Tennent in his Log College from 1730-1735. This is part of his account of the revival in New Londonderry, PA.
The blessing known under the ministry of Jonathan Edwards from 1734 stirred others to seek God for similar awakenings. Such awakenings sprang up in various areas from 1739.
