Hey guys and welcome to our very first guest interview episode, I'm very excited to be chatting to ARTIST, ACTIVIST & ACTIVATOR Chris Auret.
Chris Auret is a South African artist, maker and activator of things (murals, paintings, photographs, films, writings, sounds, spaces and more), currently residing in Cape Town & The Garden Route.
Chris believes we are all artists, sharing the same world, depending on each others acts of creation, perspective and energy.
"I open my hands to be a conduit for bringing new ideas into this world – all the while, trying to be a responsible human."
When it comes to mural painting, amongst many things, Chris is interested in raising the awareness of our natural environment and our connection to it or our disconnection to and from it. He is also interested in the public voice, what people want to talk about, what truths and frustrations exist and in possibly being a conduit for this voice.
In this episode Chris shares on his journey with being an artist and what that means to him, how art can help us work through stress, why art is such an important tool for activism and more!
Chris also, very kindly, left us with a bunch of helpful resources for finding some inspiration and community during these times. You can find all the links below!
