Pastor G responds passionately in a sermon addressing 2016 killing of two black men at the hands of police and 5 police officers retaliated against in Dallas, TX. This sermon connects the dots between John 10:2-4 and Luke 24: 25-34 and reflects on what's going on nationally and locally in Indianapolis, Indiana. Girton is challenging urban churches to LEAD [RIGHT] NOW!
It covered the readings in Acts Chapter 2 Verses 1-4 38-39 titled "From a crowd to a congregation" Today Pastor G John Girton talked about the difference between a crowd and a congregation. (Pertaining to the church) Some churches are crowds and some are congregations. Pastor G talked about swelling and growing. When something swells there is a indication of an infection. Meaning members can infect a church and cause the church not to grow. Churches aren't moving because members drag mess into the church, keep it with them, and could possible infect other members. We are suppose to bring our mess to the altar and leave it there! Give it to God and trust Him. Pastor G talked about growth. Growing is not about numbers. Just because a church is growing numerically doesn't mean the church is growing. Growing is about strategy and the process. We have to respect transition. Transition your yesterday into tomorrow. Pastor G had a good analogy talking a about a sporting event. The stadium crowd is normally divided by a home side and a away side. You pick the side your rooting for at the game. You shouldn't walk into church taking sides. We must be at one accord. Promise equals delivery. Acts Chapter 2 Verse 4 talks about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is evidence that God is in the house. In order to be a congregation and not a crowd we must love one another and be on one accord. Be on one accord and the Holy Spirit will come. Pastor Girton understands that there are people who've become addicted to winning at any cost. What's the cost? They lose equity in their name and the people around them become frustrated communicating, working, living and playing with them. It's not confined to sports. It can be material gain, job/career advancement, relationships, or keeping up with the Jones'.
It's possible to do all the right things all the wrong way. In other words, love, support, forgiveness, kindness, generosity are good when given the right way. To simply say "I did this or that for you...!" means nothing if it's done with selfish, calculated, manipulated intent. God sees more than what you do. God sees your heart. Watch out there now!!!

We often hear the old phrase, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” It is a good comeback on the playground, but the truth is in life negative talk can pierce the thickest of skin. (Proverb 17:20….”he who has a perverse (or negative) tongue falls into evil.”
The bible is full of warnings against using words as a weapon. So, if you know someone who’s guilty of verbal violence and is struggling to overcome it, I encourage you to pray for him or her
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, o Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” (Psalms 19:14)
The problem with most believers today is, some of us don’t know when to fight. There are times when after you’ve gone through the fire and gone through the floods; after you’ve been through the storm and the rain; suffered heartache and pain; there are times when after you’ve prayed and cried for deliverance from the issues and challenges of life… that you reach the point of your breakthrough and the devil is standing there trying to convince you that you don’t deserve your release, you don’t deserve your deliverance, you don’t deserve your miracle, and you don’t deserve your breakthrough.
And many times we as Christians stop short of our blessings because we don’t recognize a good fight when we see one.
Fiery furnaces are a form of torture that’s not allowed in today’s society. Yet, no doubt, we can approach today’s text with a keen understanding of what it feels like to be hot. Yes, we can appreciate this text because we recognize that to be threatened with fire is a conforming concept. And there are times in your life when your not facing the heat of a furnace, yet you feel like the heat in the room has been turned up. There are times in our lives when there’s no king Nebuchadnezzar sitting on a throne. But there’s a supervisor or parent or teacher or family member who’s made it their business to lord over you in ways that can literally make you hot under the collar.
And if you’re not cautious and if you’re not careful, the way you handle the heat can change your life. If you’re not watchful and if you don’t know how to respond to your own personal Nebuchadnezzar you can find yourself missing out on the blessings and promises of God.
Anger, one of the 7 Deadly Sins is a natural human reaction to threats that we face from both outside and inside of ourselves. Anger is meant to move us toward action and to help us fight for what is right in our eyes. Anger can lead to good or evil. Anger is good if directed injustice under the control of love and a sound mind. In this bible study, Pastor G helps us to understand Anger from a biblical and practical perspective.
"ANGER" isn't foreign to the bible. As a matter of fact, even Jesus was moved at times by his anger. Everyone struggles with it from time to time because each of us have moments when we are vulnerable and face threats from both inside and outside of ourselves. The question is how you manage the natural impulse to want to defend yourself, your community, and your world. Anger can help you or anger can hurt you.

Everyone knows today is a special day for people all over the world. It doesn’t matter if you’re a sports fan or not. It doesn’t matter if you know what the end zone is or not. It doesn’t matter weather you’re a Christian or not. Today is a day that is anticipated by sports fans and non-sports fans, by businesses and advertisers, by broadcasters and politicians, gamblers and the media. Everyone wants to get in on today because they know all eyes are on one thing!
There are people sitting in here right now who are preparing to gather in homes, at event venues, in auditoriums, in bars and clubs all around the world. More than 111 million people are expected to watch, and cheer, others will jump, shout and even cry as two super teams battle it out to see who will win the super bowl.
Yes, today is about two teams. Yes, today is about a big game. Yes, today is about great athletes who can do great things. Yes, today is about performances. Yes, today is about a lot of money exchanging hands. But, I need someone to know that there’s more to Sunday than the Super bowl. I need all of us to recognize that these two teams aren’t the only ones coming out of a challenging season. Why? Because for somebody who’s paying attention to me today you know that It’s also Super Natural Sunday.
How quickly do we forget even after God has blessed us? God is faithful to protect us even when we complain.
