Katie Corbett has been a professional writer for 11 years. More specifically, as a current customer case study writer, she is great at asking strategic, open-ended questions that bring out the authentic quotes and anecdotes one can use to market a product or service with an engaging, personal touch. Katie can efficiently draw narratives together in a format that showcases an entrepreneur or professional at their best and positions their products and services to be noticed by prospects.
In this episode, Katie shares with us some notes to remember when gathering and writing your top quality testimonials.
Here are the key takeaways from today's episode:
Find the right opportunity - One important time that most business owners miss when asking for testimonials is when a client or customer gives your service a compliment. This is a high time when they're overflowing with happiness and could write a vibrant review.
Ask the right questions - There are specific questions that will improve your chances of getting quality feedback. Help them remember what part of the story they may want to share.
Use different platforms - Be creative but also be mindful of wherever you want to do business - your website, google, social media, newsletters, among others. Choose one that most likely will attract your customers.
See it as a process - To make the testimonial process a bit smoother, make it part of your official process. A script would be a great way to do it.

2. Calendar blocking - Schedule everything into your calendar and figure out which ones you can drop, delegated, or rescheduled.
3. Be okay with saying no - If it's not a "hell, yes" it's a "hell, no." If it's icky or uncomfortable, try saying no - especially to things that hinder you to reach your goals.
4. Incorporate self-care - This is something we easily brush aside so learn to schedule it into your calendar and treat it as an appointment to meet your higher yourself.

As an entrepreneur, there's probably nothing scarier than the B-word (Burnout).
So in this solo episode, Supriya shares with you 7 takeaways about making yourself a priority:
Start with a morning routine - Drink enough water to replenish 6-8 hours of sleep, spend time with nature, or try meditation. Whatever it is, try to do something that will improve your mood for the day.

Take weekly timeouts - Whether going to a coffee date or dance class, give yourself a time away from all your worldly responsibilities.
Celebrate small wins - It's easy to get caught up in the big picture but always remember that all the simple tasks you've accomplished, little by little, have gotten you here today.
Eat right - Everything depends with a good diet, eating too much sugar and unhealthy food can keep you feeling groggy.
Limit your time with your phone - Be mindful of your time on social media and checking emails. It piles up.
End your day with gratefulness - Spending a few minutes to write down or identify the positive happenings in your day will improve your night a thousand times.

I am thinking of creating a career in the events industry - but I am overwhelmed and little uncertain where to start. I'm also skeptical as the market already seems so saturated with so many designers out there who I admire. How would you suggest I go about it?
In another solo episode, Supriya shares with you several tips for those of you that are skeptical about starting their own career in the events insudtry:
There's only one you - There might be that one X-factor within yourself and the special thing is only YOU have it. That is your power.
Honor your calling - If doing that one thing makes you feel complete, not pursuing it is a disservice to the world.
Let yourself bloom - If a bud wants to bloom, it doesn't allow itself to feel intimidated by other flowers that are already flourishing. It just blooms.
Silence the negativity - Lean unto thoughts that give you excitement and joy.
Think big - Start by visualizing where you want yourself to spark the fire within.
Consistent actions - Ask yourself everyday if you've done your best to move closer to your goals. 7. One day at a time - Results won't happen overnight so be patient and enjoy the journey.
Release expectations - One thing to absolutely not do is being too hard on yourself by setting unrealistic expectations. Trust your own timing.

2. Be consistent - Structure your conference so everyone can look forward to sharing ideas weekly.

Thinking of ways to elevate the service you provide to your clients? Well, this episode is for you.
It has been Bobbi's privilege to witness important life moments through her camera for a long time (before cellphone cameras were all the rage). She never takes for granted the honor to serve and tell a couple's love story in the most authentic way, with moments over poses.
Equally important to her is cheering on creative entrepreneurs as a speaker, educator, and coach. Sharing her years of experience with wedding pros, together they build careers with a purpose by keeping service at the forefront of their business.
Here are the key takeaways she discussed:
Be yourself - Show how your top priority is delivering the best experience for your clients and do it in the most authentic way possible. Be open and honest.
Be honored - Note the privilege of being able to do what you do - and that it matters to you and the people you're serving.
Be grateful - Know how amazing it is to be where you are currently but don't be afraid to aim and dream higher.

In this solo episode, Supriya shares with you tips behind selling with authenticity.
Treat selling as a form of service - Believe in your products and solutions to the point that not sharing them would be considered a disservice. Afterwards. selling would be so much easier.
Build authentic relationships -There's always an emotional factor on why a client would come to you for a service. So start listening to your clients (their whys and goals) and think of the best ways to solve their problems.
Create a win-win situation - Build a mutually beneficial relationship with the customers that you serve.
Go with an open mind - Don't come with so many expectations before meeting your customers. It's also important to be honest about your strengths and weaknesses.
Educate your buyers - Be happy to share the demographics of your industry and where you stand in the market. Then, highlight what you will be bringing to the table once they choose your service.

Initial years of a business are the most crucial years. These are the years when you are building the foundation, planting the seeds for the future and a stepping stone to what your ultimate vision will manifest into. Based on various statistics, 50% of small businesses fail within five years. That’s a huge number.
In this episode, I wanted to share 6 mistakes creative business owners are doing, making it difficult to survive in the long run.
If you're looking for ways to reach a larger audience through experimenting with PR, this episode is for you.
Laura Perkes has been a lifestyle Public Relations Consultant for 16 years. She works with entrepreneurs and small business owners, to help them use their voice and share their message in the media. She's always found the art of communication fascinating, especially connecting with people and deepening relationships through meaningful conversations.
When she was younger, she always wanted to be a journalist until she realised that it's a cut-throat, dog-eat-dog industry that she wouldn't enjoy being a part of. Yet her inquisitive nature and ability to spot a news story couldn't be dampened and she simply couldn't ignore her passions completely. So she opted for a career in PR instead. This way she gets to use her strengths and skills to get business-owners in the media and helping them achieve the publicity their business needs.
Here are three key points she shared with us:
She has many years of experience planning events, and is certified by The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada. Swoon was founded out of Alana’s desire to help clients plan the perfect event, and she is passionate and committed to giving her clients 110%. Her flair for design, combined with her logistics management and day-of execution skills, has allowed her to continuously earn the praise of her clients. A lot of her clients end up friends for long after the event is over! When she’s not planning events, Alana loves to travel and spend time with her husband, Mark, and their adorable puppy, Mokey.
She discussed five key points to successfully network your brand:

If you're a newbie entrepreneur or in the process of idealizing your business, here's an episode for you. Today, we are in conversation with Kimberly Fu Skubic, the mastermind to Envision Events. More than a decade ago, she embarked on a sudden change of niche from videography to event planning. Now, she's bringing her 12 years of planning events experience and 6 years of designing florals to the table. She describes 5 possible mistakes to avoid when starting up a business:
Don't sacrifice your value - Invest on your skills and knowledge before taking the full dive. If you can, get a mentor to stir you into the right direction. This will help you minimize failures, mentally prepare you, and add considerable value to your professional background.
Don't be afraid of change - You cannot stop your business from evolving. Aside from the rapid technological advancement of our times, try to deeply understand the demographic so you can perfectly mold your brand to cater them.
Don't disregard your audience - Prioritize your client's comfortability, whether it's the first meeting down to the smallest details. Make sure to elevate their experience working with you.
Don't be inconsistent - You can be extremely creative and talented, but learning how to organize the mess will make everything so much easy to manage. Client meetings? Overwhelming to-do list? No problem.
Don't be prideful - Be humble, take everything as a learning experience.
