During March 2021 Madfrog was granted exclusive access to film the annual refit of one of Wightlink’s FastCats, Wight Ryder ll.
We took our cameras into Trafalgar Shipyard in Portchester to film Wight Ryder II undergoing extensive overhaul and refit work. We returned two weeks later to film her as she was gently lowered back into the waters of Portsmouth Harbour.
On 26th April, at Wightlink’s Portsmouth Harbour terminal, we filmed an interview with Chris Ancrum, Wightlink’s Fleet Tech Team Leader for the FastCats. Chris explained to Bob Ede, one of Madfrog’s directors, the detail and extent of the refit works as well as the role of these high-speed cross-Solent vessels.
Chris then took Bob on a tour around Wight Ryder l to show him how the vessels have been prepared for service now that Covid restrictions are easing. Bob was taken up on the bridge and down into one of the engine rooms to glimpse many of the places passengers rarely get to see.
