Live hardware set from Sydney-local Simon Mann...
Simon Mann has been playing and making electronic music for close to 20 years. Originally focussing on hip-hop and hip-house sounds of the 80's and 90's, Simon eventually gravitated toward house and techno after finding the joys of DJ-ing to a club crowd in the mid 90's.
Sighting early influences such as local heroes HMC, GT, Pocket, Head Affect and the rest of the Thunk Records crew, as well as international techno luminaries like Jeff Mills, Carl Craig and Claude Young, Simon's taste has always been in the darker more underground sounds rather that upfront club tunes.
After taking 'runner up' position in Sydney's Radio Dex Bedroom Bangers competition in the early 2000's, the DJ-ing opportunities opened up considerably for Simon and he found himself playing alongside some of Sydney's most respected jocks including Phil Smart, Simon Caldwell, Ben Korbel, Ken Cloud, Ajax and Mark Murphy.
Simon's interest in production had always been in the background and a small studio of electronic instruments was developed over time. Most production work was done as part of the band We'd up until mid-2000 when Simon started to focus on solo productions with earnest.
Simon's sound has evolved into an exploration of deep house, techno and dub techno elements. Currently Simon performs live electronic sets using a combination of hardware and software to create his unique compositions.
The podcast recorded for DHA is a hardware set recorded live in one take. To create his sound Simon currently uses an Elektron Analog 4, Yamaha Cs6x and Rm1x, Roland TR606 and TR8, Korg Volca Bass and Sample, Pioneer EFX500. Signal processing and effects are carried out through Ableton Live Suite.
Simon releases music on Etui Records (Germany), Lobe Limbique Musique, East Point Sounds, Lamb Shanks Digital, Highjack Recordings (Ukraine) and Pinksilver Digital.

Mark Craven is spot on with podcast #113. A deep, minimal and techy mix, Mark builds the intensity throughout the 60 minutes, until dropping some acid flavours with Josh Wink’s “Talking To You”.
Mark is an Irish lad who ended up in Sydney and has an extremely solid DJ bio – having won the IDJ Raw Talent comp and also selected by DJ Mag as the Top pick Mix. Mark is also part of the extended Snowbombing family, a festival held in Austria (yes, Austria) each year.
Upcoming for Mark in 2015 is Return to Rio, 20th-22nd March, a festival held in the beautiful surrounds of Wisemans Ferry, just a short drive north of Sydney and set on the Hawkesbury River. Check Facebook more details www.facebook.com/ReturnToRio
Then in April, Mark is jet-setting off to Austria for Snowboming 2015, 6th – 11th April, where he will officially be on the bill alongside names such as Rudimental, Skrillex, Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox + 100s of other internationals.

Local DJ, Zeus joins us for episode #112 of the podcast...
Zeus is a well-respected, Sydney-based DJ, with a knack for a classic house sound, digging into his record collection for this mix with a range of tracks from the past 20 years or so.
Zeus run a party called ‘Compound Sydney’ at Goodgod Small Club and has been DJing for nearly three years now.
We asked Zeus about his mix and this is what he had to say:
“I recorded this mix in my living room on 2 Technic SL-1200 MK2 turntables and a Pioneer DJM700.
I tried to record this podcast for 5 weeks in a row and after recording about five different mixes and plenty of swearing, I was unhappy with all of them. So I simply took a break for a few days and hit record after my mind and ears had settled.
The whole idea behind this podcast is to go through records which are of particular significance to me – some I’ve heard out and experienced, some I’ve found through other DJs, some I've found through discogs, some I found in $2 bins at record stores and some I got by complete accident.”
We hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
Upcoming events:
- Compound presents Subaske at Goodgod Small Club. Check Facebook for more details: www.facebook.com/events/836346469740387/

Doppel ~ Bassic Records ~ Canberra, Australia
~Doppel Bio~
Before being exposed for the first time to the allure of the limitless creative possibilities in the world of electronic music, Doppel grew up playing rock, metal and the blues, creating an appreciation for hypnotic rhythm and twisting melodies combined with the finer details and the spaces in between.
Now influenced in equal parts by the spacious and psychedelic textures of life in the Australian east coast and the surging sunset to sunrise sounds of global house and techno, he then turned his focus onto the studio, resulting in the Doppel project, a blend of styles; intricate and psychedelic with a focus on deep grooves and luscious soundscapes. A member of the house and techno collective Lotown based in Canberra, he has also just released his debut EP "Blacklight" on Australian techno label, Bassic Records. Recently Doppel has performed live at festivals such as Dragon Dreaming, Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Soliton Drop and Just Chillin’ as well as supporting acts such as Shigeto, Nosaj Thing, Jamie Stevens and Cassian at clubs and outdoor parties around Canberra, Melbourne and the East Coast.
~EP Description~
Blacklight EP - Released on Bassic Records - 18.11.2014
Free Download or Donation at Bassic Records Bandcamp
bassicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/blacklight-ep
Doppel's debut EP, "Blacklight" displays an array of energy driven basslines, tech house percussion and organic soundscapes, together forming the Doppel sound. The seamless flow mirrors that of the movement of our natural surroundings, a dream state formed from angelic melody and swamping synthesizers. Uplifting atmosphere is felt all the way through, the murmuration of vocals keep the mind connected to the hinted nuance of endless connectivity.
Doppel's unique bush techno and house sound is represented perfectly in each original, the stripped back sound creating focus on the symbolized emotion of each note. Ken Zo's remix plugs in the progressive energy with an earth rumbling bassline and savvy technical groove. The EP finishes with Matt Dwellers take on Blacklight, the influence of Australian and French techno clear from his deep, emotive direction and limitless build ups with subtle synthetic tones.

Dave Stuart is a nothing short of a stalwart of the Sydney house and techno scene.
Dave has been working hard over the past couple of years on a weekly night here in Sydney called La Famiglia, which has recently, as of about two weekends ago, rebranded itself as ‘Something Else’. Something Else celebrated its launch on 25th October with Red Rack’em at the helm, with support from local legends Simon Caldwell & Magda Bytnerowicz. That was quickly followed up a week later with none other than Ian Pooley as headliner… and there are no signs of the big names slowing down at Something Else anytime soon.
Follow Something Else on Facebook for more details bit.ly/SomethingElse-FB
Back to Dave… Along with running a weekly party and DJ-ing at that party, Dave has regularly travelled to Europe taking his unique brand of techno, dub techno and deep techno across the world. This year, Dave based himself in Berlin for around 6 months and enjoyed time playing regularly in Berlin at Tresor / Globus, Wanted & Sankt Veit at Chalet, Golden Gate, Parallel at Griessmuehle, Moxxom Festival (Gorlitz) & hopped across to Spain to play at Macarena Club in Barcelona and +afterhours in Malta.
Of course, Dave has played at every big name club in and around Sydney, plus festivals such as Subsonic Music Festival.
This time around Dave has produced an immaculate vinyl-only mix of deep, dub and acidy goodness…

As we did last year, we've just completed a DJ competition for one young DJ to open our room at Code!
The winning mix was by a young man who goes by the DJ name "Slüge", pronounced slug. His real name is Dylan Leicester!
Read a little more about Dylan below...
“Hey, my name is Dylan Leicester, I’m 21 years old and I’m originally from the Central Coast, north of Sydney, but I’m now based in Sydney. Some of my favourite favourite artists and labels include: Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Cajual Records, Local Talk Records, Kolour Recordings and Hot Creations. I first thought about being a DJ when my roommate entered a competition himself, and then bought a set of decks and showed me a few things he had learnt. This made me determined to be able to put together a mix of my favourite songs. I’ve been dj-ing for about a year now and have since played a couple of gigs at around Sydney such as The Burdekin Hotel, World Bar and Kit & Kaboodle. Check me out on Soundcloud – @dylan130992 and Facebook -www.facebook.com/Sluge1992

We head interstate for episode #103 of the DHA Podcast, and call on Brisbane’s Rikki Newton to show us the way. Known for his impeccable taste in house and techno, Rikki has been a stalwart of the Brisbane underground music scene for the better part of a decade.
Rikki is one half of Subtrakt Events alongside good friend Adam Swain, which was established in 2007, and has been host to international talents Dixon, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Steve Bug, Prosumer, Smallpeople, Moomin, Oskar Offermann, Jus-Ed, Tornado Wallace, Move D and Fred P.
In conjunction with members of the Kana, White Rhino and Let’s Get Minimal collectives, Rikki is launching the Andromeda Festival - a boutique open-air electronica event set to take place on November 22nd-23rd 2014 at Ivory’s Rock in South-East Queensland’s Scenic Rim. With an edgy music policy and creativity first approach, it will be a breath of fresh air to audiences looking to break from run of the mill festival line-ups.
If you were wondering what the definition of deep house is, simply have a listen to this mix. It is one of the most perfect selections of deep house we have heard in quite some time. With a distinct NYC feel to it, Rikki features tracks from some of the great producers and labels for house and techno, including Fred P, Patrice Scott, Amir Alexander & Steven Tang. We were also extremely excited to hear the inclusion of Naoki Shinohara – Dimension, released on Soul People Music in May 2014.
A truly pristine mix, every deep house lover should enjoy.

James Petrou, Sydney-local and head of Trojan House Records, is a self-taught DJ and producer. James has been a regular on the local-scene for some time now, most notably receiving the respectful honour of becoming a resident DJ at La Famiglia at our beloved Burdekin Hotel recently.
James is also well known for being one half of ‘Jaded & James’, production and DJ duo, who shot to fame with their release in 2012, ‘Toni's Pain EP’ released on Beef Records.
It was in 2013, that James took his love for music to the next level, by establishing Trojan House Records. Not only is it an outlet for his own production skills, but to showcase other up and coming Aussie talent. Artists such as Dan Baartz & Cameron Cooper have been supported by the likes of international superstars such as Richie Hawtin, Maya Jane Coles & Joyce Muniz.
James takes this mix pretty deep with some seriously chugging bass lines. Overall a beautiful deep tech flavour, perfect for his new home at The Burdekin Hotel.

Rachel May (bit.ly/RachelMay-FB) is the deep and techy alter ego of Minx: bit.ly/Minx-SC, who is a well Sydney DJ/producer signed to EMI Records. Needless to say, this young lady has been on a whirlwind tour of the world over the past few years since signing to EMI. She's travelled to Ibiza, where she has played at a little club called Pacha, London, and Los Angeles, where she played at the Grammy Awards after party.
Minx has also turned her hand to production, with her latest single 'Heaven' released on EMI Records: bit.ly/Heaven-iTunes, featuring Chris Arnott on vocals and a remix from Motez.
But Minx's big room sounds are miles apart from what you'll here from Rachel May today. Rachel keeps this mix pretty tight, with nice deep rolling basslines, a hint of acid, a slice of tech... but mostly house, with a side of classic vocals, just how we like it.

We're excited to be celebrating our 100th podcast today, with the one and only Magda Bytnerowicz!
Magda is, without a doubt, one of Sydney's finest DJs. She runs an extremely successful event series, 4our (pronounced "four") alongside musical partner Trinity, which showcases local and international talent in intimate warehouse spaces. Over the past couple of years 4our have delivered the likes of Steffi, Eric Cloutier, Eli Verveine, XDB & Mareena, to Sydney-siders.
The quote from Magda's official bio reads: "Expect a diverse selection of old house and new techno (and vice versa) as well as a smattering of disco in her DJ sets, keeping you locked to the dance floor".... and she has not let us down with this mix.
Magda kicks things off with some beautiful deep house sounds, including one of our all time favourite OB Ignitt tracks. The mix slowly builds without notice, until you find yourself on a virtual dancefloor appreciating the subtle acid and techno flavours. Before she's done though, Magda closes out with with some disco, as piano keys and guitar licks sweep over you like a rush of emotion. A true musical journey, in every sense of the word.
We urge you to stick your headphones on and find a quiet space in a darkened room to appreciate Magda Bytnerowicz...

For the first time on the radio show, our three trusty residents, Venda, DJ Jim Poe, and Swampy were responsible for the music programming this fine Sydney evening. On Tuesday 8th July, 2014, the DHA crew gathered in the Bondi Beach Radio studios and made magic happen.
Venda played an all vinyl set, and it was the perfect lead-into Jim Poe and Swampy. Venda's was deep, a little stripped back and very raw house. Jim threw down what we've all come to know as his brand of NYC or Chicago-feeling deep house, to somewhat tech house at times, but that's a conversation for another time! Swampy finished off the last 40 minutes with what some might call techno, others, well they might call it tech house. We won't dwell on genre's here... Just enjoy the #*&^ing music.

Sydney duo Set Mo have been working the local scene as DJs until turning their hand at production. After a couple of teaser releases in 2013, Sydney-based etcetc Music have snapped up the pair and signed them to their label, with plans for their debut EP to drop next month, August 2014.
When we asked them about their mix for the DHA Podcast, this is what they had to say:
"This time of year is awesome for all DJs regardless of musical taste. All the dance labels and artists are putting out their biggest tunes for the northern hemisphere's summer season. There's so much great music coming out at the moment we felt compelled to put together a mix of the stuff we're digging. The mix starts off quite funky with some disco, grooving house and even a brazilian joint. Around the halfway marks it steps up a notch and moves into some more clubby stuff. This mix is a good representation of the style we play out. There's also a couple of our most recent remixes in there to give you an idea of the music we produce."
Set Mo also have a fortnightly radio show on Bondi Beach Radio, Tuesdays 10pm Sydney-time.
Enjoy the music...

Our next guest is fellow Bondi Beach Radio presenter Seher (@seher).
When we spoke to Seher and asked her what the inspiration for her mix was, this is what she had to say:
"I’m a big fan of OFF Recordings and you will notice many tracks and remixes by Andre Crom in this mix, along with some remixes by Nice7, Sonny Fodera and Larse. This mix is more on the upbeat and bouncy side of deep house. The last two tracks, ‘So Long’ and ‘Time to Get Physical’ were treasures when they came out, so when I heard the recent remixes I knew I wanted to include them because their ass-shaking effect. "
We think she should have her own brand of house music named after her - Seher House! We love the bassy, upvibe, vocal and dancy tunes she's selected for us. It gives us that warm and fuzzy feeling!
Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments...

Jay Smalls was just 16 when he started DJ-ing in Northern England. At the time you were more likely to find him spinning tunes along the lines of hip-hop, rare groove, funk and new jack, rather than house and techno. But over time and as electronic music evolved, Jay found himself edging towards the house and techno we have all come to love.
Now based in Sydney, Jay has made a name for himself in the local scene as one of the talents. Jay has played at some of the seminal parties in Sydney, such as SASH, Subsonic Music (festival + events), threesixty, Circoloco and Spice, and has a wealth of experience behind the decks.
Please have a listen to Jay’s podcast, and let us know what you think in the comments on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/deephouseau/097-jay-smalls
We're extremely excited to have Phil Smart join us on the podcast, for episode #096.
Phil has been DJ-ing in and around Sydney (and around the world!) for more than 20 years. Needless to say, a standard bio write up won't go anywhere near capturing Phil's experience and talent.
We would like to call out, however, some of Phil's international DJ experience. He has played at the following notable locations around the world: PS1 (NY), Funky Teknotribe, Spundaes, Basics, Sunset and Green Gorilla (SF), Shambhala (BC), Burning Man (NV), Bedrock and Club UK (London), and E-Werk (Berlin).
At Deep House Australia we are big fans of Phil's, and not only is he a talented DJ and selector, but he is well-respected here in the local scene. This is why we have invited Phil to headline our inaugural club night this coming Saturday, 31st May 2014 (http://bit.ly/DHA-31stMay).
Join the event for more info - Deep House Australia + La Famiglia + Gynoid Audio pres. Phil Smart and Truncate (aka. Audio Injection) - http://bit.ly/DHA-31stMay
Recently Phil has teamed up with another DHA-favourite, Tomek, to form @coloursoundnewcastle, a new music collective bringing an underground sound to Newcastle. Each month, they deliver a new headliner to the CBD Hotel in Newcastle which has of course been an excellent success...

Arch44 Music is a UK-based record label, driving house to deep house and tech house to techno sounds from artists all around the world. Their artist roster includes Aussies '3CatsDeep', 'Shepz' & 'Luka Sambe', German duo 'Rockwell & Landers', the UK's 'Deepmilo' and Italian 'Francois Le Roy'. The label consists of business partners Ross Kemp and Jeff Parker (pictured). Expect big things from Arch44 Music in 2014 - we hope you enjoy their promo mix, consisting of several tracks from the label, including a couple of hot-off-the-press, exclusive first plays.
When we asked Arch44 Music about their mix for the DHA Podcast, this is what they had to say:
"We had a lot of fun putting this together, we made sure each track was carefully selected, avoiding the 'de jour' approach of going as up-front as possible, and instead doing a bit of crate digging to compile a 1 hour mix that is 'all killer and no filler'. We hope you enjoy!"

Our guest for Episode #093 of the DHA Podcast is Taylor Ferney, from Sydney crew Locus Cadre. This mix from Taylor starts off with some funky housey tunes, blending into a deeper array of house. Have a listen...

Deep House Australia would like to welcome its newest crew member and podcast resident, Juliet Fox (http://bit.ly/JulietFox-SC). An Aussie, originally from South Australia, Juliet has recently come off the back of a 12 month world tour, through North America to Ibiza, and is now residing in London. With little rest between tours, she's off again soon, heading through Thailand in January on her way back home for an Australian tour in February. If that wasn't enough, Juliet is heading back to Europe for the northern hemisphere summer & another stint in Ibiza!
Not only is Juliet an amazingly accomplished DJ, but she has taken her production skills to the next level over the past year or so. Notably she's teamed up with Green Velvet on Relief Records (http://bit.ly/1cOMyBy), plus she has a forthcoming EP due to hit the shelves on Cajual Records 13th January (http://bit.ly/1cYkoIY)!
Check her SoundCloud page for more of her productions >>> http://bit.ly/JulietFox-SC
Now have a listen to her DHA Podcast - Ibiza & All That, which is one of the most impressive mixes we've heard in a while. Well thought out, Juliet doesn't fall into the DJ-trap of simply playing a bunch of tracks one after the other, but rather she's taken control of the mix and uses the music to tell her story. Enjoy!
Nocturn Circus (aka Sam Croft) (http://bit.ly/1kxFv82) is a young, 21-year old Sydney-native, who has been producing house music for the past 18 months. Recently Deep House Australia engaged young Sydney DJs to enter our .darkroom DJ competition. The winning DJ was offered the chance at playing a live set at the next .darkroom event, opening for a touring international DJ, Owen Howells, plus a guest spot on The DHA Podcast!
A big congratulations to Hamish Radford, who has just been named our winner!
If you would like to hear Hamish Radford in action, playing live and opening for Owen Howells, get down to .darkroom in Sydney on Saturday 19th October (THIS WEEKEND!) from 2pm. Yes, it's an afternoon shindig, kicking on into the evening and late into the night, but Deep House Australia are taking over The Backroom of The Gladestone Hotel in Chippendale from 2pm in the afternoon. Don’t be late or you might miss all the action! We will also have a BBQ going, as well as the pub-food avaiblable from The Gladstone kitchen. The Gladestone is just a short 5 minute walk from Sydney's Central Station.
A massive thank you to all entrants of the competition, we received a much bigger response than we could have ever imagined. Because of the sheer volume of talented mixes we received, we will also be announcing a group of runners ups over the next day or so - and will feature those mixes on our SoundCloud page. We are also hoping to engage our talented entrants for future podcasts and events on our radar, so keep an ear to the ground and watch these young talents grow.
During our review of all competition entries, we rated each mix based on a number of different criteria, including: volume levels; track selection; originality; mixing; and effects. We also looked for a good structure of a mix, for example mixes with an introduction and outro, as well as use of vocals and instrumentals where appropriate. After reviewing all of these items, Hamish's mix was the standout.
For now, get into Hamish's mix...

Bio
Hey Deep House Australia, my name is Hamish Radford, I am 21, and I have put together a vinyl mix for the .darkroom competition. It basically consists of a bunch a records that I love and go well together, lots of Detroit/Chicago influence also there are a few vinyl-only releases in the mix. I hope you like it!
Here’s a little about myself:
I am 21 I live on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
At the moment my favourite artists would be Max Graef, Kid Sublime, Leon Vynhall and Nathan X to name a few.
I have been DJing for about 4 and a half years. Turntableism inspired me to become a DJ, I started out just scratching and beat juggling for about a year and a half before mixing dance music. DJ's that inspired me were Mix Master Mike, Qbert, Dstyles, DJ Pump, Kid Koala etc I could go on.
As for my experience as a DJ, I have played at the Burdekin a few times for an event called Significant Others which I love, also my friends ran an event for a while called Into Deep which I played for but it is not running anymore.
I am a vinyl only DJ, my turntables I use at home are American Audio HTD 4.5 pretty similar to Technics 1200's. I use Ableton to produce but have not been using it for long.
I am also currently studying Cert 4 Sound Technician, it's great!
Here is my SouldCloud link: @dj-hamish
Our next podcast guest mix is from Tomek. Tomek is based in Newcastle (north of Sydney), but lately he's been making the trek down to Sydney to play at event's such as SASH Sundays. Tomek is a DJ, budding producer, and promoter.
Tomek has been DJ-ing for around 7 years, with a passion for "any music with a taste of a deep melodic groove and a swerving bassline", which means he won't limit himself to any one genre within his sets.
Tomek is also part of a group called Good Brothers Intimiate Music Sessions based in Newcastle, who have some big plans waiting to be announced, so make sure you follow them on Facebook and keep an ear to the ground.
This is a really impressive mix... have a listen...

Mark Fusion (http://bit.ly/mark-fusion) was born and raised in Hertfordshire until relocating to Australia around 8 years ago. Over the past 2 years Mark has been living in Sydney, immersing himself in the house and techno scene, with plans to launch new projects with local promoters, for club nights and warehouse parties.
With 15 years DJ-ing experience, Mark's mixes have an extremely mature look and feel, as he knows when to drop that classic track or those recognisable vocals, and when to pick up the pace. He describes his sound as "tech influenced beats", but you can find him playing anything from deep house to tech house and techno.
‹‹‹ Listen to Mark's mix for The DHA Weekly (http://bit.ly/15O7rO9). He is on for the second hour of that show ›››
While living and playing in the UK, Mark was part of the Garooba, which he describes as "a legendary local sound system", playing parties throughout the UK. The group ran free events and house parties, taking over any space that could hook up a system or generators, bars, clubs or even empty fields!
Make sure you follow Mark on SoundCloud (http://bit.ly/mark-fusion), and like his page on Facebook (http://on.fb.me/18jWWBc).

UK-based DJ, producer and record label head, Owen Howells, is currently touring Australia with upcoming gigs in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. Regarded as “part Aussie”, Howells grew up on our beautiful shores throughout most of his teen years.
Owen’s record label Shades Recordings (formerly Shades of Grey) is described as “forward thinking music with its foundations set in the past”. Shades has garnered support from the likes of Mary Anne-Hobbs, Kerri Chandler, MANDY, Gavin Herlihy, Luke Solomon and George Fitzgerald right through to some of techno’s finest innovators and purists such as Eric Cloutier, Voigtmann & Bruno.
Originally, Shades of Grey was an event in Brixton between Howells and a bunch of pals, which morphed into a record label after years of hard work. The concept of this event continued into their record label, which meant they were not bounded by any one genre. This allowed them to explore techno, house and any other electronic music genre that dealt in low-end bass.
When he’s not busy in the studio, you’ll likely find Howell’s digging for rare grooves, as he’s a self-confessed vinyl junkie. Already toured Czech Republic, Malta, Berlin and North America, Owen is off to Japan after his Australian tour.
Next Saturday, 6th September 2013, starting from 2pm, you can catch Owen playing at We’rehaus at Sydney’s Red Bull HQ in Alexandria. Deep House Australia will have a double pass to giveaway early next week, so keep your eyes peeled on the DHA FB page.

Our guest this episode is Italian DJ, Davide Nardini. Davide currently resides in Prato, Italy, and his passion for deep house dates back to 2006. It wasn't until 2011, though, that he created a public forum for his music, Deep House Tracks. After spending the next couple of years perfecting his craft and working on DeepHouseTracks, he embarked on his first international tour, through the UK. After this debut tour, he joined TopDeeJays.com and to this day, he's still ranked in the top 10 Italian DJs for deep house music.
DeepHouseTracks has grown from strength to strength over the last couple of years, now with more than 4,000 likes on Facebook and 14,000 listeners on SoundCloud. Make sure you show your support, and follow Deep House Tracks for the latest in house music.

We jump back to episode #029 of The DHA Podcast, mixed in November 2010 by DHA resident Swampy. Swampy works a pretty deep vibe from the word go, with Pablo Bolivar's remix of 'Essence' by Filtered Boogie. This is easily one of our favourite pieces of work from the Spaniard. You'll also find tracks and remixes from Andre Lodemann, Karol XVII & MB Valence, Huxley and Solomun.
Let us know what you think in the comments. Enjoy!

After tearing the roof off our DHA Weekly radio show last month, we invited Henry Compton from Lioness Presents in Sydney to join the podcast for episode #074. This is only our second all-vinyl mix, and what a quality piece of work Henry has put together.
Henry is a Sydney-based DJ, and along with his Lioness Presents partners, is responsible for showcasing some of the world's finest DJs at a variety of underground warehouse parties over the past 12 months. Lioness Presents have hosted the likes of Linkwood (FIRECRACKER RECS), Mark de Clive-Lowe (TRU THOUGHTS), Pablo Valentino (MCDE/ FACES), Steve Spacek (WARP), Raf Daddy (DFA / Two Bears) and Inkswel (RUSH HOUR / BUREK).
Even though Henry has almost 2 decades DJ-ing experience it's only recently that he has pushed himself further. Previous Henry has held spots on radio shows on Bondi FM and 2SER FM, and worked behind scenes as a label manager for an independent distribution company.
The next event for Lioness Presents (www.lioness.net.au) is the one and only Recloose (Rush Hour / Planet E) on August 23rd at GoodGod Small Club in Sydney, so if you're in the area get down to it!
When we asked Henry his motivations and track selections for this mix, he said "it's a selection of predominantly new tracks from some of my favourite producers that have been rocking my boat lately and also fitted the DHA podcast brief. I definitely wanted to create a mix with a flow that works well for home or headphone listening. For those familiar with DHA you may notice a couple of similar tracks to my set for the DHA Weekly radio show (bit.ly/006-HenryCompton), I hope that like for me this isn't an issue as they literally haven't left my record bag ;) There's a couple of bits that aren't digitally perfect, but that's the joy of vinyl... It was fun to put together and I hope you get enjoyment from repeated listening."

Episode #072 of The DHA Podcast is care of Berlin-based Aussie DJ and producer, Alley Oop ››› http://bit.ly/Alley-Oop.

(listen to a preview of YokoO & Alley Oop - What These Words Mean ››› http://bit.ly/11tSyAW)
Once Alley Oop had set her sights on Berlin, it was only a matter of time before she made the move to the electronic music Mecca. It didn't take long after her arrival in April to make her DJ debut in the German capital either, playing at Kosmonaut - Where is Where Open Air ››› http://on.fb.me/13E5Z1o.
Before the move to Berlin, not only could you find Alley Oop playing at night spots all across australia, but she was a successful promoter and festival junkie. She ran weekly gigs at some of Sydney's premiere locations, such as Mooshine at Ivy Pool Club & DUST in Kings Cross and also performed at Splendour in the Grass, Stereosonic, Two Queens (Singapore) and Love Saves the Night (UK). Throughout all of this Alley Oop has had the pleasure to share the stage with international artists such as Art Department, Lee Foss, Infinity Ink, Danny Daze, Justin Martin, Eats Everything, Waifs & Strays, Gorge, Russ Yallop, The Adana Twins, Luciano & Ricardo Villalobos.
We suggest you take an hour out of your day and press play...

Lee Sandwith, aka Nohijo (http://bit.ly/12Wzdby), started his obsession with electronic music from a very young age. By the time he was old enough, he discovered house music throughout some of the UK’s best underground clubs.
Nowadays, Nohijo is based in the middle east (UAE), producing some amazing house music, such as ‘Do It All Night’ (http://bit.ly/12bQWdd) which was released on Oh So Coy Recordings (http://bit.ly/11UN4c9) earlier this year, and featured on our 'Lush Opener' (http://bit.ly/Lush-Opener) podcast shortly after release. Lee has also worked with labels such as Something Different Records & Tug Underground.
With plenty of releases still scheduled for 2013, expect big things from Nohijo. This is house music at it’s best…

Welcome to episode #069 of the DHA Podcast! Our guest is Sydney-based u-Khan (@u-khan). Originally from NZ, u-Khan quickly cemented his place in the Sydney underground music scene when he made the trek across the Tasman in early 2012, gaining a residency at one of Sydney's most respected nightclubs, Chinese Laundry. u-Khan is also a well versed promoter, running a regular party called Charades, bringing the likes of Recloose, Shades of Gray, Christian Martin and LoSoul to the table.
We're extremely happy to have u-Khan on board, and he's pieced together an amazing deep and tech house mix... have a listen...

We head to the UK for episode #068 in the DHA Podcast, to meet with Si Smith aka SiFi (http://www.soundcloud.com/iamsifi). SiFi is resident in chief at Snafu, a club voted in the top 100 clubs in the world by DJ Mag and he is also an accomplished deep and tech house producer. An EP released in early 2012 “The Vibe” received critical acclaim from artists such as Claude Von Stroke (DirtyBird), James Zabiela (Rennaissance), Yaya (Desolat) and Paco Osuna (Plus 8) to name a few. This was followed up with a remix for MomoProject - La Lluvia which broke into the top ten releases on Halfmoon (italy).
This year has been a busy one so far for SiFi, as he has had releases on Halmoon (Italy), Kanzen (SA), La Maison (France) and Mandelstam (Russia). He has also been busy working on his new EP along with various collaborations, edits and remixes. Along with his residency at Snafu, festival gigs at TITP, RockNess and theBigBeachBall, and bookings in London, Italy and South Africa already confirmed, it seems that this year may just be the breakthrough one.
Let's get into the mix...

Sydney DJ, Space Junk (http://www.soundcloud.com/spacejunkdj), is one of the most vibrant and passionate deep house DJs kicking around the scene. Along with his Mantra Collective crew, he's been responsible for some of the biggest parties over the past 6 months or so since the launch of this newly formed promoter-group.
Space Junk's bio reads like a who's who of international DJs, having supported the likes of Hot Since 82, Audiojack, Butch, Paul Kalkbrenner & Oliver Koletzki. He is also a co-host of "Frequency", a radio show on Sydney's FBi 94.5fm (Friday nights from 1 – 3am). Add to this bio, two new residencies at a couple of the most prominent clubs in Sydney, Spice Cellar and Chinese Laundry, Space Junk has a bright future ahead of him.
Coming up this weekend, is another Mantra Collective gig, this time at Tatler in Sydney's Darlinghurst district with an all-local headline affair.
Enough of the talk, let's get into this amazing mix...

Local Sydney promoter-group, record label and recording studio, Analog Cabin, turn one this week, and we would like to welcome them to the DHA Podcast for episode #066. To celebrate their 1st birthday, they're throwing a little shindig at a warehouse party, this weekend, Saturday 11th May.
In this mix we go deep into the musical mind of Drox (@drox), who is one half of Analog Cabin. The other half is Felix Warmuth (@felix-warmuth), and the pair are extremelly excited about their inaugural label release which is due out shortly. (Stay tuned for more on that release at DHA)
Over the next 50 minutes Drox shows us his wide range of musical taste, from deep house to techno and dub techno. It's also a special mix for us, as it's the first all vinyl mix on the podcast - mixed on 2x 1200's and a Urei 1604 in a single take. Drox's wide-ranging taste is also clearly evident if you take into consideration the variety of differing events he plays at. You will regularly find him DJ-ing at bass music nights, as well as reggae and funk nights, plus of course house and techno at his own Cabin Fever events.

We're pleased to announce our first exclusive promo mix for the DHA Podcast, from Sydney-based DJ/producer, Venda. With 5 years experience as a DJ, Venda has been busy over the past few years studying as a sound engineer, and now, is co-founder of Hidden Agenda, Sydney's newest and finest underground music experience.
Venda's love for music is apparent as he's still an avid collector of rare vinyl records, one of which is featured in this mix - an edit of a Marvin Gaye classic. Most of Venda's spare time is spent in the studio, and while he doesn't limit himself to any one sound or genre, he describes this mix as "all house with touches of deep, and is very vocal".
Hidden Agenda kicks off this week, Fri 21st Dec 2012, at Tatler in Sydney. Headlining is Melbourne's MIC NEWMAN (Tsuba/Freerange/Fina) >> http://soundcloud.com/mic-newman
