To celebrate reaching 75 episodes, I wanted to release something special in collaboration with my Patreon community. Enjoy this quirky, charming radio play, in the style of an after-school special. Four kids who use a chicken coop for a clubhouse learn how to succeed, support each other, and stand up for what’s right.
Club Idiot is four middle schoolers’ self-imposed punishment for destroying their last
club’s treehouse. Now forced to meet in a chicken coop, they resolve to do something
constructive. They choose to help Jax prepare for their school’s 5K race. The only
problem is that the neighborhood bully Colt is planning to cheat his way to victory over
Jax. The club combines forces with their former leader Bet to secure a victory fair and
square.

I sit down with author Becca Rose to ask her about cover art, being a female writer of color in the fantasy genre, different pen names, how writing isn’t stressful, and completing a manuscript in a four-day weekend.
Rebecca Roberts ( Becca Rose) was raised in South Pasadena, California. She spent most of her time lost in fictional worlds. Starting with the classics and Shakespeare, she discovered fantasy and paranormal fiction in Middle School and never looked back.
After graduating from Utah Valley University with a degree in English, Rebecca turned all her focus to creating worlds like the ones she grew up with. She lives in Utah County with her two dogs and two cats, who provide emotional support and distractions for when her stories take a turn for the worse.
Check out her book “Elfish: The Windy Adventures,” available on Amazon. It is no secret that Windy is lonely. The only child of a single mom, Windy spends most of her time alone. But when her father shows up to change her life, Windy will do anything to return to her boring life and loving mom.

Elizabeth Suggs uses cosplay to Bookstagram and shows how reading doesn’t have to be so serious. You’ll probably hear in my voice how much I’m a fan of Elizabeth Suggs creativity and energy. She’s involved in a lot of pursuits, I can relate, and she’s an effervescent delight as she talks about her passion for inhabiting a character and encouraging people to read indie authors. We talk about impatience in learning some new type of creative task, and about feeling like we have to multi-task in order to be productive. We talk about video games, audiobooks, indie authors, book reviews, social media usage, and sitting with nothingness. She’s nerdy, she thinks we take reading too seriously, and just like she says, it’s a very good thing that she’s on the side of the good guys.

Even though Erin still fights against feelings of Imposter Syndrome, she works on her art every day. Erin began quilling when the pandemic forced her into quarantine and she missed camping in Utah’s beautiful red rock wilderness. Just a few months later and Erin is busy fulfilling commissions.

Actress Nadia Sine met with me over Zoom in the Stay-at-home social distancing of 2020 to talk with me about being a black actress in the predominantly white theatre industry. I saw her performance as Juliet in Sonder Immersive’s production of “Through Yonder Window,” and was captivated by the production and her performance. What Nadia and I sat down to discuss primarily was a topic that has recently risen to the top of the theatre industry conversation--the racism encountered by performers of color in theatre. There are fantastic resources and discussions on this topic in lots of corners of the public conversation, some of my favorites are listed below in the show notes. But like everything I’m interested in, I really wanted to have this conversation, one-on-one to help me process as I look at what I can do and should do and will do about institutional racism in my own theatre community.
