New City Church is focused on sharing the grace and peace of Jesus Christ with NYC. This is the teaching ministry of New City Church and our lead pastor Patrick Thompson.
When you think about being Christ’s disciple, obedience to His call, do you hear mere duty? Or do you hear an invitation of a loving Savior? What if you were so close to Jesus He was the only thing you saw, and the only thing people saw when they looked at you?

Sometimes our lives our thrown into unique positions and we find ourselves with greater influence and power than we expected. We can learn from the story of Esther how to trust God in situations like this instead of modeling the techniques of others who simply use power to control and manipulate others.

Too often we think that just believing in something is enough, but true faith will always evoke some type of response. This week we look at how a young boy and future king of Israel put his faith into action and gave us a great example to follow.

Too often we believe our fears, doubts and the discouraging words of others more than we believe in the promises and presence of God our creator. This story of a small shepherd boy facing off with a seasoned, mighty warrior will help us to better understand how to fight the battles of fear and doubt in our own lives.

The Christian faith often focuses only on the character and story of Jesus. While Jesus is a central to the Christian faith, God the Father and the Holy Spirit also are important to understand as well. In this series we will focus on learning how each of the other two aspects of the trinity play a role in how we embrace the whole story of the gospel.

Individuals, groups, societies and cultures can build entire narratives off of falsehoods and half truthes. We can do the same with our view of God and ourselves. In Genesis 3 a lie was introduced into our minds that would shape our understanding of our relationship with God. This week we combat that lie with truth knowing that will sin can cause us to look at God as the enemy, sin will also cause God to pursue peace with us.
