Welcome back to the second installment of our 4-part series of podcasts and video recordings we are calling the “International Staff Experience”. In this series we will be interviewing and talking to international staff, who were never Menominee campers, that decided to return to camp on staff for multiple summers. Our goal is help our first-year international staff hear and see things from the perspective of people who were in their shoes not long ago. We explore the nerves of coming to camp for the first time on staff, how long it took to really connect to camp, what some of the highest and lowest moments are for a new international staff member, and much, much more! On this episode Jeff chats with Aranza Pastrana (8th year from Mexico) and Gavin Pritchard (3rd year from Scotland). We hope these are both fun and bring a unique perspective to camp. For new staff we hope you get a better sense of what your potential connection to camp can be this summer, and for the rest of our community, we really hope you get to know some of our truly important staff members that you may not get a chance to otherwise. Enjoy!
On this VERY special episode of the Camp Cast we are launching our new 4-part series of podcasts and video recordings we are calling the “International Staff Experience”. On this episode Jason chats with Beth Potts and Alice Matthews, both returning for their second summer's from England. We hope these are both fun and bring a unique perspective to camp. Enjoy!
Today we have a really fun episode for you as Jason is joined by cousins Brett Weiss and Isaac Weiss. Between the two of them they have quite the resume at camp that spans camper, CIT, Counselor, Leadership roles, Resort Staff, Office Manager, Decade Club, and much more. We sat down in Scottsdale and had a great conversation about all things camp. They had some amazing stories to share, some special shout outs, we of course talked about their age group the "Doi Bois", and, naturally, some grudges were grudged. They also for sure had the best “back in my day” segment we have ever had on this podcast. Enjoy!
On this VERY special episode of the podcast we are lucky enough to sit down in person with the namesake of the Twilight League Championship Trophy, Steve Ehrlich. Steve has been coming to camp every year in some capacity since 1959, helped start the Nate Wasserman Camp Fund, and has been the commissioner of Fantasy Camp since its origin. Steve is now the heartbeat of our alumni network. We talk about how camp changed and evolved over the decades, what Nate Wasserman was like, stories about camp legends Al Lewis, Bob Bender, Koz, and Jim "Buzz" Wyeth, where a lot of our traditions, sayings, games, and songs come from, the first ever Kawaga competition, the Meat Man and much more. After the 90 minutes were over we both shared how much we didn't even touch on…but this is a great start!
On this episode of the camp cast we are lucky enough to be joined former campers, current Father/Son campers, and current camp dads Logan and Harley Rosenthal. The guys came prepared with old megaphones, pictures, and great stories from their time at camp. Enjoy!
On this episode of the Camp Cast we take a break from the alumni focused podcasts, and turn to the summer of 2024! Camp staples Miles Provus, Ethan Mann, Nate Beermann, Ryan Martin, Jacob Schneider, Cooper Spector, Ben Lazarus, and Jon Wool join us to chat about their first year on staff, what they look forward to this summer, give a little staff update, some ideas for 2024, and a lot of nonsense. Enjoy!

These guys have a stacked camp resume including camper, counselor, Fantasy Campers, Father/Son Campers, Post Campers, 5-year club members, fathers of campers and staff...and much more. They have amazing stories from their time at camp, including a 16A walk-off...but not what you are picturing...and provide some insight into how camp has changed for them from when they were campers to now having kids at Menominee. Enjoy!
In case the first 2.5 hours wasn't enough...we are back with best friends and camp legends Ted Roth and Barry Schwartz to close the loop and finish up an amazing conversation about camp. We start by finishing the amazing story of 16A 1996, which includes a truly amazing moment with Doris and Jeannie. Then we finish with quick hits and other remarkable camp nonsense. Enjoy!
If you know Teddy and Barry then this episode needs no introduction. If you don't...well get ready for some of the most fun, passionate, hilarious, (mostly) unfiltered, stories and memories from two camp legends. What does Teddy call "the biggest bonehead logistical decision in the history of camp"? What is Barry's best camp moment and SHOULD that actually be Barry's best camp moment? Do you want to hear the greatest, most thought out, and most thorough camp grudge in the history of the podcast? When you get two best friends who LOVE camp and have some things to say...you get this instant hall of fame podcast episode. Enjoy this one...and it's only Part 1!

Every summer Jason does a late night deep dive with RYAN FIRMIN and JACK BEHAR. This year's version needed some editing which is why it didn't get released during the summer. Therefore, on Season 7 Episode 3 of the Camp Cast Jason, Ryan, and Jack get into it! They start by talking about the 2023 Sing, then quickly go off the rails on topics like musicals, petty childhood nonsense, camper shout outs, why Jason and Behar can't get along, the Hatchet Hunt, our favorite generic key log shout outs, Chicago vs. LA Food, Feldgreber family history and how it connects to Manny's Deli, what books have you read lately, and maybe a few other actual camp related topics. Enjoy!
On this one of a kind episode of the Camp Cast Jason is joined by former camper, CIT, counselor, Associate Director, Director, and of course Owner of Camp Menominee, Steve Kanefsky. Then Jason and Steve go under the hood to talk about what it's like owning camp, some things people don't know or don't see about the job, and share some stories about former counselors, campers and parents. Steve also talks about his proudest moments at camp, his most regretful moments, the Kawaga competition, and much more including a great story about Koz at the end. This one surely will call for a part 2 at some point! Enjoy!

In this episode I'll talk about who won our main awards: Junior and Intermediate honor camper, the awards for our values, and of course, the Nate Wasserman Award to the camper who most exemplifies the Menominee Way. If that's not enough, I opened up the pod today to have boys come down and tell me their best camp moments this summer. I hope you enjoy all of it, and I hope you have enjoyed the podcast this summer. For the Love of Camp - Jason

Some of you may remember Melissa from one of our most popular episodes where she helped first year families get to know me and camp a bit. We were thrilled to have her back! Oh! And if you’d prefer you can watch the full video of our interview on our YouTube page. That’s right people, we are multi-platform now. Enjoy!
While Camp Menominee has been around since 1928, we have only been on our grounds on County D since 1947. Before that, our land was famously used as the Comiskey Family Far. Today on this very special episode of the Podcast, Jason is joined by life long Northwoods resident Maxine Drager. Maxine’s parents were the caretakers of the Comiskey Farm before it was purchased by Nate Wasserman and turned into the site we know today as camp! Maxine tours camp with Jason, Jeff, Woody, Jeremy and others, and discusses what it looked like back in the 1930s and 40s. We discuss what buildings were there, how her bedroom is now Woody’s office, what the Comiskey family was like, mob ties in the area and what the storm shelter was actually used for! Despite some of the choppy audio, this one is DEFINITELY worth the listen if you are interested in Camp’s history.
On this VERY special episode of the Camp Cast, Jason, along with co-hosts and pod favorites Jeremy Kohlenbrener and Jeff Toombs, is joined by CM Alum and members of the 2000 Senior Cabin Matt Schwartz, Jon Sider and Loren Rue, They dive deep into the 2000 cancelled competition with Camp Kawaga, and all of the ripple effects that occurred as a result. To top it off, this episode was recorded LIVE from the deck in front of the office one evening with a full audience! This was a blast to record and we hope you love listening to it. Enjoy!
After a brief hiatus the Camp Cast is back and as good as ever! We are going to release regular episodes of the podcast for the rest of the summer, and to kick it off, we are putting out a gem. Spoiler alert: Josh was so nervous before the match he may have lost his breakfast in the woods before kickoff...enjoy!
The 2005 Menominee vs. Kawaga competition will always be remembered by one phrase, "The Pin". With the competition tied at 15-15, the wrestling meet would decide the winner. After a number of hard fought matches Menominee needed a pin from it's heavyweight wrestler, Zak Ellman, to win the meet and take the competition. On this fantastic episode of the podcast Jason is joined by camp favorites Brian Bulgatz, Jeremy Kohlenbrener and the man himself Zak Ellman, to talk about that historic camp moment. They break down the significance, hand out awards and dive deep into the impact a moment like this can have on the camp experience. We hope you enjoy this engaging, funny and surprising episode!

For the first ever episode Jason is joined by 4 of the 6 Green & White color war captains from 2016 to talk about the most controversial finish to the all-camp Relay (and Green & White) in camp's history. On this VERY special episode of the pod Jason is joined by two-thirds of the Directorship of Chippewa Ranch Camp for Girls. As camp directors, one of the most popular topics we get asked about is single gender vs. co-ed camps. Why should I send my son/daughter to a single gender camp? What are the major differences between this and co-ed camping? Hows does choosing one or the other impact my camper's growth and development? I have a son and a daughter, should I not be looking to send them to the same camp?!? We cover all of this and more in this open, honest and vulnerable discussion. Thanks again to Cliff and Sari! You can check them out at the new chippewaranchcamp.com. We hope you enjoy this episode and learn a lot!
On this VERY special episode of the Camp Cast we focus on a a value that we hold near and dear to our hearts at camp: the importance of giving back to your community. Jason is joined by Steve Ehrlich (59 year camp veteran and founding member of the Nate Wasserman Camp Fund) and Peter Ehrlich (long time board member of the Fund and lifelong member of the Menominee Family) to discuss the importance of giving the gift of camp. The guys explore the history of the Nate Wasserman Camp Fund, one of the flagship non-profit organizations that helps sends many campers to camp each summer, and discuss camp's role in educating our youth about inclusion, diversity and community service.

If you are new to Camp Menominee or camp in general this is the episode to listen to.

I also get some much needed support from Jory's brother and cousin Isaac and Brett Weiss, and CM counselor Zeke to defend Sand Lake against a verbal beat down! All was friendly after that as Jory broke down the awesome things going on at the Marimeta waterski program and shouted out some worthy campers and counselors. But wait, there's more! After that Andrew Morris and birthday boy Benny Goldberg come on the pod to talk about the first full day of Green & White events and give us a G&W score board update. Eli Fisch joins me tonight to break down our first intercamp competition with Camp Timberlane, his camp highlights, Menominee firsts, and SO much more. Tonight, all the boys are settling in with their counselors and their new friends in the cabin, so we are taking this opportunity to introduce you to this session's Group Leaders and Youth Development Directors. First we'll hear from Group Leaders Josh Ingram (Juniors), Jackson Wustner (Intermediates) and AJ Villarreal (Seniors). Then I play the recording from first session with Youth Development Directors Pamela Adler and Jeff Toombs. Enjoy and welcome to the family!
Tonight on this bitter sweet episode of the podcast, we celebrate the end of an incredible session at camp. We also talk about the things they are excited about and nervous for as they all prepare to move into cabins for second session. This is a really special group of guys and I think you'll love what they have to say.

On this EXCLUSIVE episode of the camp cast we are, once again, making history. Today, as the boys from CM socialized with the lovely ladies over at Chippewa Ranch Camp, Sari Hirsch (Assoc. Director CRC) and I hosted a live podcast event. We set up a booth at the social and opened up the mic to everyone and anyone that wanted to join. We had SO MUCH FUN! I think the CRC girls were a little more eager to be on the pod than the CM boys, but we had some phenomenal guests. With so many people in and out and the social going on, the recording definitely got a little messy at times, but trust me, it's worth it! Enjoy...
On this super special extra fantastic 4th and 5th of July episode I am joined by Simon Mann and Neo Schneider!
