Saint Saens Symphony #3 is nicknamed the "Organ Symphony" because of the significant use of the organ in the piece. Saint Saens was an accomplished Organist, thus the especial use of the instrument.
In today's program, we will hear CAMILLE SAINT SAENS CONCERTO FOR CELLO #1, and other cello pieces including THE SWAN.

falls in love with it immediately.
We begin a series of chamber music by Beethoven, featuring two of his beloved piano sonatas:
the nicknamed PATHETIQUE and MOONLIGHT
The Symphony #9 is referred to as the "Great" and it
is Schubert's greatest symphonic achievement.
Schubert composed more than 600 songs, in German
called lieder, many with the themes of love and other
sentiments. This program will feature some of them, including the famous Ave Maria
Despite writing abundant chamber music, Schubert only wrote two trios for piano, violin & cello. We will hear the
beautiful Piano Trio #1.
Schubert's Symphony #5 follows well the formula for
a symphony, because of the ease in identifying its themes. It is often used by music teachers to describe

Although French composer Georges Bizet is mainly recognized by his opera Carmen, and other operas, he also wrote beautiful orchestral passages.
This program explores further the music of French composer Claude Debussy, with traditional and impressionistic music including LA MER, considered to be one of the best compositions of the 20th century
To conclude this series, we will explore the music of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov the most prolific of the group with not only Russian music, but also exotic music from Spain and the Middle East
