90.3 WRST-FM Oshkosh
90.3 WRST-FM, the radio station on the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus, will highlight prominent African American members of the University’s community every Thursday at 5 p.m. in celebration of Black History Month.
Black History Month Spotlight, hosted and produced by WRST-FM General Manager Wendell Ray in cooperation with the UWO Black Student Union and African American Studies Club, is a 30-minute program designed to get to know the students staff and faculty on campus.
On-air interviewees include leaders of the Black Student Union: Jayla Ross and Shara Becker and African American Studies Club leader, Priscilla Idoko; UWO Academic Counselor, Renee Simpson and UWO Recruiter, Jarrius James; UWO alumni Pastor Charles Butler and Byron Adams; and Director of African American Studies and Assoc. Prof of Sociology Dr. Alphonso Simpson. In addition, WRST-FM produced Black History month facts that air during local programming.
The broadcasts are part of the Black History Month celebration at UWO organized by the African American Studies Program. A new interview can be heard every Thursday at 5 p.m. in February on 90.3 on the FM dial or on-the-go at wrst.org. Interviews will also be available as separate podcasts via all major podcasting platforms.

African American Studies Program Director, Alphonso Simpson, Jr., PhD is coordinator for the monthlong celebration. Simpson details the programs, organizations, and departments participating in 2024.
Dr. Shawn Robinson is a leader in the area of Dyslexia and African American Boys. He has numerous academic publications, but his Dr. Dyslexia Dude books may be the most impactful.
