On June 13, Improvised Alchemy and Banshee Media kicked off our very new, and very unique, performance venue in Berlin! How honored to host this duo - friends who improvise and collaborate across borders, genres and disciplines to create a unique and beautiful music - during their first tour! how perfect!

After recording and mastering this track, it haunts us in such a good way... So here's a chance to listen in to the Willows Nest and the beautiful acoustics of the space. They gave me permission to post this track - it is magical!

As Arko says of this recording: "Myself and the wonderful Nishad Pandey playing our own rendition of Time by Pink Floyd. A bit of an afro - folk pop version. Accompanied by Nelson Piccin on percussion. This is at the incredible venue of Renee Coulombe and @bansheemedia. "

Many thanks to Arko and Nishad for an unforgettable day of music and connection - it is an amazing feeling to witness the birth of a new ensemble up close...

This new direction in my composition came about through a unique alchemy. Dream tracks already woven into a piece - then new recordings arrived for mastering with sacred songs. The works called out to be together, and a new era in my work is born.

Today, I got some of the best news in a long time. I'm sharing this piece out in gratitude. Tunkashila, pilamaya - I am grateful to you (and Charlotte, and Uncle Goodknife, and Aaron)

Second half of the Sounds Curious pilot! Sorry for splitting it into two halves, we had to tackle some technical issues in the first few episodes (upgraded OS, then Software, fried hardware with upgrades and so upgraded hardware, etc.). We all dread upgrading in the studio sometimes!

Anyway, tracks in this episode include:

A field recording by Jeremy Hegge ("Leaving our microphones by a waterhole at night) recorded in Mmabolela Reserve, Limpopo, South Africa. Recording made during the 'Sonic Mmabolela' residency organized by Francisco Lopez and James Webb. My apologies for misidentifying it as Mozambique in the episode - I had done a lot of listening today before choosing this lovely example, but still, my extreme bad. Once again thanks to http://www.aporee.org/maps and the folks over at radio aporee for the incredible field recordings on your site that we listen to all day and all night.

Another big thanks to all Deep Listeners everywhere, for all you do!
