Ughhh sigh...so yea...im the guy from DE. I have been spinning Drum and Bass since 1997. I've been throwing parties since 1998, and going to parties and actively supporting all sorts of musical events since around 1995. I've been experimenting in music production and engineering since around the early part of 2000. When I'm producing, I usually use different monikers, based on what I'm writing. At one point if it was dance/bass music related, I was usually just producing it as The Headunit. However more recently I've used the name Chasing Sleep for the ambient/minimal/experimental side of things, and as you can see I have some new material that I've done in collaboration with my son, under the name Jump Static .(stay tuned) When I'm out doing dj sets, it's just Scott Nyce. Not "DJ" Scott Nyce, or "Dj Nyce"......It's just Scott Nyce.
Like wow....I,(Scott, his dad) am getting old haha, not only did this crazy little fak pull off this set the night of his birthday, but it was fresh off of a 4 hour nap, no planning whatsoever, and surgically perfect.... this boy is the new beginning. you know those albums you had when you were a kid, that had a huge impact on your musical influence except, for lack of better words, "struck a different chord" than all the rest, emotionally speaking? Yeah this was one of those for us. So, this is a tough one for me. Jeremy and I started this as an experimental project called Swoon For The Devil around 2011. We were both going thru alot of struggles with our own demons at the time, so alot of things with the project got scattered, as they often do, when struggles are abound. Then, around 2012, Jeremy would begin one of the most amazing journeys toward recovery form addiction I had seen anyone make fo a long time. And while still not there yet and it indeed did inspire me, i also let it intimidate me, and make me foolishly anxious to be somewhere next to him that I wanted desperately, but i just wasn't ready for. So because of my own chaos at the time, and my own drug-addled insecurities at the time, I let it affect my close relationship with him, right to the point that he had to step away fro me for a while, and rightfully so, because I was still a long way off from my own recovery and would be for a little while, but thankfully enough, we would reconnect again a few years later, and just as the great man he was and always will be, I humbly apologized, and he forgave me. The is a vip remix of a song of his I did off his Album hanging on my wall, Everything All At Once. The remix was based around the original ideas and structure we had for it at the time of our mutual collaboration within it.Its been finished and mostly private outside myself, Jerm, and a few others, and was really hard for me to listen this and post it, but i know he would want you all to have and hear it.To my one of y best friends, my Abbot, my Healer, My shaman, and My soul brother...Rest In Love,Peace, And Power. SO AFTER ALL THE HEADACHING AND CHERRYPICKING FOR IT, We knew we didn't want to make an "overinflated megamix" of sorts. We had long discussed the idea of teasers, and different layers, and ultimately we stripped all that back and came down on wanting to do a long, sort of "northern expeditions" style journey but through drum and bass, that is as much about the tune, as it is the mix. We don't care if you think it's too long. We don't care how you would've done it or what you've heard already. We don't care about you're sister's EDM. This isn't a "studio mix"(mostly). We recorded this together, as a father and son, back to back, live at home, on two 1200's because we love Drum and Bass, and we love you. SO HERE IT IS, BETTER LATE THAN EVER. OK so, obviously, because I'm old af, I had NO idea who this girl was before my son put me onto her, and since we work together (Jump Static for anyone who hasn't noticed,)he made the suggestion to remix this tune for the fk of it.
