Carrying us through that tradition , our Think Pieces are ways in which we try to understand our present in relation to our past. We celebrate our storytellers through our Music and Book Reviews and of course feel the pulse of our people through the music selection in our Sets.

On this episode Nikho profiles Andrea, Dre, Minister Dre- of the North North Social Club. There were once three but now one collective, works to create inclusive spaces within the Arts space.
They discuss the pressure of execution, creating spaces of growth and her journey as a young leader.

Former host of, Ugly Girls Club, bring a new series for the summer, We Outside The Podcast.

This year the collective decided to take a moment to reflect, rearrange and create a level of healing as individuals and as a group.
Leletu and David interigare some of the unchecked hurt, the trauma and disappointments they have experienced over the years. Leletu takes a deep dive into some of the motions he has been reflecting through in therapy.
He takes the time to acknowledge the forests he built and realizing how big of a fire he needs to be anew.

Nikho and Ugly Girls Club are back with yet another thought provoking conversation. This week she touches on some of the major issues young girls face in the Eastern Cape. She discusses this with, Siki Kwinana, a young activist and philanthropist from the Eastern Cape. Siki helps highlight issues such as education, personal hygiene and why some of these issues are so rife in the province.

This week on Ugly Girls Club we discuss the ramped issue of Date Rape. We discuss how this type of rape thrives in University, social and work environments. We also look at how we can use the resources around us to protect each other in such situations. On the show this week we have an amazing guest, Adelle Onyango, an activist in gender based violence specifically rape among young women.
This week on Ugly Girls Club we discuss mental health with Bulelwa Mthombothi. We look at some of the signs of anxiety and what could lead to depression through her own story with mental health. We talk hospitalisation and how it could be beneficial and we discuss some ways to cope when you are not feeling your best.
This week on Ugly Girls Club we continue the conversation from last week. We dive into what tokenism means to us and share our own tokenism stories. We also go into BEEE and diversity hires. How these concepts are put in place to help Black women but rather inhibit growth and are just empty positions to appear diverse.
This week on Ugly Girls Club we discuss tokenism through the great female beefs in Hip Hop history. We look at how whiteness, male gaze and other factors contributed to the Lil Kim vs Foxy Brown AND Nicki Minaj vs Cardi feuds including how these women fell for the trap of Tokenism. My guest, Khanya Bonani, and I also discuss our own tokenism stories including the controversial diversity vs token hire.
I have decided to split this episode into two parts because our conversation was long and thoughtful. I want to give you time to reflect on some of the definitions and examples we go through in this conversation.

This week I have a very special friend from Kampala, Uganda speak on representation. Carol Kagezi is a media practitioner in busy Kampala and we interrogate what is representation, what kinds of representations are available for Black womxn and how has it improved over the years.
