Stranger Remixes LEVEL TWO returns to the roots. Friendship and home is the concept of this EP. Like LEVEL ONE, the ambient sounds of the Stranger album are lifted into the club. The remixes by Danilo Schneider & Eveline Fink, Hofuku Sochi, Enliven and Stereofysh are a refreshing mixture of the former sound of FAT and a bow to the 80/90s. Back to the future.

In autumn 2019 Stefan Lessner aka Less fulfilled his dream to release his own ambient album. With "Stranger" he created an imaginary soundtrack, influenced by film and music of the classic movie "Blade Runner", as well as the nights and observations of his new home town Berlin. With proudness, one can say that this opus is a real highlight of music for horizontal life situations, which can easily take a place in the Vaporwave corner. Now the first 4 remixes are available, which carry the vibe of the album into the club. From the horizontal position and the head it moves on to the vertical and legs. For this, master Less was able to win over four equally skilled electronic sound processing experts, if all of their names would have been on a flyer, it would be for a must-go event to one of the hippest clubs: Perm, Portable, Freund der Familie and The Exaltics. Together they all form a package that can be used several times in one night.

The remix of „Zum Greifen Fern“ is made by The Exaltics. Far away from any compromises it stops directly at the Electro station, in its classic form. Especially the dreamlike transformation of the original is a perfect fusion of melody and rhythm: you can easly get the feeling that the voice of Human Leagues Phil Oakey is coming soon, but no, it's not needed. The tones carry the track all by themselves, perfect to bring a clubset to the end.

Stefan outed himself to Alan Abrahams, aka Portable, personally as a fan. Portable likes to give back when it comes to emotions. He made the remix of „Blütenstaub“ and it immediately catches your attention. It gets intimate, sticks to your mind like honey and you end up closing your eyes in the middle of the dancefloor. In a better world, his productions would be on the radio.

Freund der Familie are the hidden masters when it comes to connecting spheres between Dubtechno and Ambient. The remix of "Run On My Knife" actually contains two tracks in one. First of all it goes up into the air like a plane, passing clouds in the bright blue sky. Then comes the jump - free fall & „BAM“ just in time the paraglider opens up and the air smoothly carries you like a loved one to the ground.

Perm from Leipzig took "In my dreams" and created an effective weapon for the techno dancefloor for all fans of higher BPM rates. It stays deep in the dark basement, but leaves the cellar door open - letting fresh air inside. „Close the door“, shouts mom from above. But it needs to stay open, to bring the draught to Perm´s Windy Dub!

The third time is the charme...that's right. Thus, the joy about the third album by Marek Hemmann is huge. Likewise, the third album is perceived as an important brand which ought to show the actual extent of a musician's potential. Either hold one's ground or dare something new? Marek Hemmann is not deterred by such expectations. He was merely in the mood for new tracks. The eight newcomers on "Moments" sound accordingly - easygoing, detached and characterised by the same profoundly and harmonically balanced musicality for which Marek Hemmann is world-renowned. Anyhow, a "just continue as before" mentality is not an option for the Berliner by choice - from the beginning, his music effortlessly blurred the established genre lines. In this vein, his new work is influenced by a great candour.

As already accomplished with his highly esteemed albums "In Between"and "Bittersweet", in "Moments" Marek Hemman takes the listeners - and certainly the dancers - on a journey through different spheres of contemporary electronic music. Nestled in "Helio" and "Bob" branches to significantly different moods are introduced from silent pauses to weightlessly lifting off to dancing around dreamily. Yet, within the many interwoven details, a noticeable sophistication can be picked out. Even more seamless and subtle, Marek Hemmann manages to unite euphoria and sweet melancholy, playful and sublime sounds, warmly shifting basses and sweeping synth-melodies.

"Moments" provides moments of life and moments on the dancefloor with the fitting soundtrack. We are very happy about this.

It is one year ago that Mathias Kaden presented a very personal journey to his musical roots in the shape of an album called "Energetic". Equally as long he has been out in the world as a live act - with some large analogous luggage and the same joy of performing with which he had won many hearts as a DJ on the dancefloor beforehand. After the first batch of remixes (among others by Michael Mayer and Redshape) there are now following further revisions of three of the album's tracks.

Those who enjoy Deetron’s bass research/experiments even more extracted, will get very lucky with Bassapella. No strings. No vocals. Only bass drum and a pervasive bass loop which squirms itself out of its basic shape in batches.

Almost Gone" is the name of Remood's debut ep (extended play) and contains 7 selected tracks of the last two years at almost an album's length. Remood's sound can be located somewhere between Burial and James Last - vivid bass music with emotional dramaturgy, always a hip swing away from a solid genre classification, personally and openly experimenting with influences of a musical imprint of all that has beat, bass and soul. The goal - leading the world of thought and emotion into narrowed pathways - has already been given up by Remood providing music that is ostensibly non-minimalist. The world around him is the paint set on which he draws and it shows - layer by layer. Field Recordings from the sad semi province, playful jazzy passages, multilayered beats with a natural swing, warm deep bass runs and an organic, lightly tinkered world of sound and synth assemble in arrangments that are rich in narration. Escaping habits, at the same time not dissipating, remaining palpable, are the main motives of Remood's production method and the "Almost Gone" ep of the label Freude am Tanzen from Jena is a first signal for more.

  1. Upstairs From the beginning, "Upstairs" starts in a nu jazzy direction and reveals more and more surprising track elements in its playful arc of suspense which seem to be jamming with the sometimes driving, sometimes prancing drums. The small finale with chimes dissolves unexpectedly in a bittersweet break-down during the last third of the track and radiates the warmth of a summer rain with emotional rhodes (?), sub-bass and reduced drum-work.

  1. An Empty Letter In halftime pace "An Empty Letter" sets the finale. With voluminous piano chords and a rustling beat, which appears to merely be held together by the snare, the track accumulates to an oddly banal statement and the admission to not be able to offer all of that or maybe not even wanting to. Within the last part, "An Empty Letter" shatters into a melancholic, "bluesy" collage which releases the listener into the dark night.

  1. Field Notes Turning the screw toward 130 bpm, clear memories of Remood's drum and bass past resonate in "Field Notes". The foundation is a reese (?) bassline that arbitates between the soul-filled changes of chords, vocal snippets and the pushing drum machine beat. In the course of the track, a sizzling piano texture announces itself, which fully develops in the endearing breakdown and briefly threatens to drift into a harsh, distorted world before the beat retrieves it into reality and dissolves the track harmonically.

  1. Almost Gone The title track of the ep begins like a deep breath of air in the forests, followed by a heavy analogous surface which pushes its way out of the deepness bit by bit in order to spread on a grooving broken beat. Ensnared by an electric piano and a mellotron, "Almost Gone" juggles an entire orchestra of elements and doesn't provide any breathing space.

  1. New Haven A bit of sailor's yarn melodized in almost 9 minutes. Nostalgically gazing into the distance, "New Haven" seems to tell a story of the sea with its entwined elements and emotional bobbing movement which one ought to listen to.

  1. Nina's Broken Tango Dust and noise, low-pitched piano fragments, garage-like yoghurt pot drums, and echoes of something that apparently used to be a tango, provide the dark scaffold of the tune before it flees into dreamy melancholy. It remains his secret who nina is. Maybe we're all a bit nina.

Twelve Grapes (Bonus) The bonus track "Twelve Grapes" reveals itself in a dark and distant manner. The track is borne by an hypnotic bassline and synth chords which proceed to dub-techno-terrain. By the shifting drum elements and exciting modulations, "Twelve Grapes" remains interesting, mysterious and especially danceable until the very end.

Taron-Trekka – Black Magic EP

Black magic, what is that supposed to be? A spell that seeks to do harm to others? Usually yes, however Taron-Trekka are animated by the best intentions, rather aim for the magic of the night and as always want to merely destroy the dancefloors of this world in a symbolic way. In fact, nobody has comes to grief with the four tracks of their “Black Magic EP” (the last part of their “Magic” triology) – nevertheless, they possess a certain magic. However, Taron-Trekka don’t make jumbo jets disappear, they don’t walk through the Chinese wall or initiate other cocky tricks à la Copperfield. They are more like thimbleriggers. Or card jugglers. You know, those guys who surprise you when you least reckon with it. Those who have already outsmarted your mind when you were still thinking that it was just about to really begin. Taron-Trekka have the groove and cast a net of loops, which magically creates a tremendous energy. Loops with which the smallest shift can open up worlds. Worlds, which admittedly appear accessible, but are hardly decipherable. This way, tools become magical tracks. Furthermore, house becomes a music, which brands itself to the last corners of a soul. Just like the trick that you haven’t understood until today.

A1 Black Magic Taron-Trekka‘s ride through the night starts funky and dry with the title track of the EP. The effects bleep here and fade away there, however over distance a magical pull develops. A pull that can only be escaped from with great difficulty.

A2 Monofile
Regarding “Monofile”, Taron-Trekka conjures a groove as selfwilled as enchanting by initially making vocals and keys appear on a dead straight beat and then letting this very same one stumble over itself. At the right moment it engenders at least as much “Ohs” as “Ahs” in a club, you bet.

B1 Red From black to red, from night until morning. For exactly this moment “Red” was made, which brings every last person to the next afterhour with its swing and depth.
B2 Distance Entirely against its own title, “Distance” may indeed affect one deeply. Namely then, when one wants to delve into funk as subtle as extensive. That is Jan Jelinek at a gallop or SND with more punch. Both are fantastic

Feel One (Digi Only) Once again, Taron-Trekka show that they may enchante the lower BPM area due to their exclusive Digi bonus “Feel One”. Classic beatdown-dreamer-food with diffident areas and vocal philandering of which we cannot get enough.

Finally, you might think, and right on time for the open-air season. Now, two years after „Syvsover“, the Berlin-based Dane, Jesper Ryom, is ready with his latest release „The Two Of Us“ – providing us with the perfect soundtrack for the hot days and the warm nights. Radiating euphoria with each bassline and elegantly bridging house and pop, these four tracks will both make you break out in sweat and put a smile upon your face. Tied together with a hypnotically energetic feel, each track is a journey into the timeless depths of Jesper Ryom’s stylistically confident sounds. And while layers of intricate atmosphere continuously is added on to each beat, Ryom doesn’t forget the floor for a single second. The waiting has finally paid off and these four tunes are sure to enrichen the summer vibe, whether spent partying or basking by a lake.

  1. The Two Of Us Title track and opener "The Two Of Us" perfectly demonstrates Jesper Ryom's penchant for layered sampling combined with modern elements, as the synth bassline and direct groove of the drums provide the backdrop for this funky yet subtly melancholic track.

  2. Trivia "Trivia" confidently ups the energy level and directly targets the floor. With reverberating brass samples, unapologetic arpeggios and dusty vocals, its simple message is one of movement and smiles.

  3. Ada Vocal-driven "Ada" is decidedly melodic and contemplative while still balancing these qualities with a consistent groove. While the lyrically enigmatic vocal sample drives the verse, the chorus is dominated by both melancholic 80s chords and an arpeggiated lead.

  4. Superluminal The funky guitar, subdued percussion and pulsating beat of "Superluminal" takes you by the hand and pulls you onto the dance floor. As the grooving piano is slowly unveiled amidst 707 claps and tambourine hits there is no doubt about the potential of this tune.

If there had to be one word to describe Mathias Kaden in all his creative phases as a DJ and producer, „energetic“ would be on top of the list. It's only consistent then that his new album bears exactly this name. The artist, who is closely affiliated with the record label Freude am Tanzen from Jena city, has been on an energetic musical route right from the start of his career. In his preferences he has never stuck to just one sound. From filigree Micro-House and percussive Minimalism to the tracks produced together with Marek Hemmann and the Leipzig band Marbert Rocel (under the name Karocel), Mathias Kaden has kept on revealing new facets throughout the past ten years. Six years after the widely acclaimed and rather club-distant debut album „Studio 10“ Mathias Kaden now refers to both his musical roots as well as his current experiences as an internationally travelling DJ. With the ten new tracks he wants to give something back to the dancefloor, namely a positive and timeless vibe deeply rooted in Funk and the diginity of the early House years. For Kaden like for many others, this early House ethos forms the foundation for a classic club sound. His new warmth had already started to loom through on his ”Tentakle EP“ on Desolat and on ”Fin“, an exclusive track for the Watergate mix compilation of the same name. Between autumn 2014 and spring 2015 Mathias Kaden took some time to produce „Energetic“. He invited the open-minded solo pianist and Karocel-partner Martin Kohlstedt to sessions with him in the studio. The results are most clearly to hear on the hymn-like and up-rising „Wisdoms“. Also on this track, there are live drums played by Mathias Kaden's longtime school friend Herby, who is a gifted drummer with his own studio in the city of Gera. The bassline from ”Get Phunky“ is another live recording – contributed by Dave Daniel, the bass player of Lilabungalow, a band from Erfurt city. Last but not least, Mathias Kaden re-discovered his analog synthesizers. Juno 106, Moog Litte Phatty und Moog Minitaur are shaping the original sound of „Energetic“ as much as the spoken-word elements of a number of vocalists. The most prominent vocalist on „Energetic“ is probably the US legend Foremost Poets, whose ”Moon-Raker“ from 1998 is one of Mathias Kaden's all-time favourite records. And with Aquarius Heaven we can hear an exceptional performer who is usually only working on HipHop and Dancehall records. The warmly permeating voices of Zoe Xenia and Sophie Taylor on „Soulmakers“ and „Clarity“ ensure timeless deepness – a quality that characterizes all ten tracks on „Energetic“. Rocko Schamoni, star of German underground pop entertainment, closes the album with a half-spiritual, half-laconic speech about the effectiveness of energy. The tonal finishing for all tracks was done in Weimar by Mario „Marlow“ Weise, also know for his work with the Sonar Collective. ”Energetic“ captures the manifold emotional billows of a club night. It concentrates on the essentials – few elements, full of energy; more soul and history than quick dancefloor effects. It is an album that is very close to Mathias Kaden as a person – which also shows in his track-by-track notes.

At the end of 2014 “Freude am Tanzen” released “Asymetria” by No Accident In Paradise with this being the first experimental ambient album in the history of its label. This shows that despite all the affection towards stability and agility in the club, the enjoyment of just sitting down, listening and melodious appreciation are also celebrated in Jena. Nowadays, the word “chilling” even passes 60-year-olds’ lips, in clubs this term is almost forgotten. However, it belongs there. In order to combine club feeling and a mental place for recharging one’s batteries a fine digital remix package has been bundled which will be released in two parts.

  1. Farbiarnia (Gunjah / Niconé Remix) Open air stunner & mover matching this season precisely – wins dancers’ hearts either under the sun or the moon.

  2. Dawka (Berk Offset Remix) “Cinematic horizontal groove anthem” with string settings for eternity.

  3. Kochanie (Hofuku Sochi's Shibo-Mix) Energetic psychodopehouse transcended directly on the sofa from the “Under-self” into a new “Super-ego”.

  4. Depozyt (Laolu Remix) Clap your hands, say yeah… Laolu pretties up No Accident In Paradise for the Mediterranean club, the lipstick remains lightly smeared, lip gloss is left out and barefoot is preferred over high heels.

  5. Depozyt (Delhia de France Hellyes Songmix) Pentatones’ vocalist constructs a sweetish and experimental chamber ambient pop track. Man & woman ought not be surprised if she emerged vocally with No Accident In Paradise in the future – the perfect combination!

  4. Depozyt (Laolu Remix) Clap your hands, say yeah…

  4. Depozyt (Laolu Remix) Clap your hands, say yeah…

Marek Hemmann’s new EP “Chameleon” offers an appetizer to his forthcoming album: two euphoric 10-minute house cuts that do what they do whether in the oven that is the underground cellar or on the window sill at home with a view to the prairie. Both give that Hemmann characteristic crispy , dry beat with a pulse and drives the listener almost trance-like ever forward. On top of that, “Chameleon” builds a tender, soft synthie sound structure that again and again brings a wonderful heavenly vibe that in seconds turns into a complex form. “Alice” uses a similarly sounding house rhythm and forms a soft almost romantic melody that so quickly takes on a hypnotic-type flavor.

After his “Roofs” album and the “All those Moments” EP, the dreaming spirit of Mooryc again traces tenderly the world of waves. With “Take 'em All”, he collects bittersweet vocals and strict drums on 4 new tracks, having the wind at his back with remixes from Micronaut and Sven Tasnadi. From another world the moon shimmers between hard and soft through the window. As if it perished and was resurrected, the sound stands with a lanky silhouette from another time. Good and bad with both colors he paints with his heart in the notes. Yet still sounding like a Japanese Jurori without the makeup he gathers simultaneously an excitement for the forthcoming album with Douglas Greed as „EATING SNOW“. Mooryc makes what only the few can master, and that is the combination of soft and hard.

  1. Be My Ghost Like the Beauty and the Beast circling in the title track, the swinging song of the marching drummer. Between discipline and fleeting belief there takes shape a song as real as life itself, always both, never alone.

  2. Myself Along with forest light rays and on the back of a two meter high 12ender, Mooryc speaks of himself, his legends, and the sonics flavor the presentation.

  3. Turn It Off Without vocals but with muscle power, Mooryc spins spitefully and slides the bass right on time ever forward, focussed and autonomously purposeful, the track spans the arch in the other corner of the EP.

  4. Take 'em All “Take em all” gets right to the center, a closing time ballad with an impressive feeling of happiness. Not back and forth, just melancholy and release.

  5. Myself (Micronaut Remix) The Micronaut takes over the reins and expands the lonely stories of the forest lights into an endlessness of circling bows.

  6. Myself (Sven Tasnadi Remix) The light goes out, the 12ender turns into a disco ball and Sven Tasnadi makes from “Myself” a driving rapture where whipping arms melt into wings.

  3. Turn It Off Ohne Gesang aber mit Muskeldruck, dreht Mooryc nicht aus sondern auf und schiebt den Bass im Takt nach vorn, fokussiert und autonom spannt der Track den Bogen in die andere Ecke der EP.

After the flirtation: Driven, Summerless and Fake on BPitch strolls Douglass Greed with a new disc and ammo of happiness out of Jena and into the world. The Spark/Noisy EP beams with six inebriated tracks on the FAT horizon. For this adventure young Dougi brought a few buddies to shake the beat tree free. The magic of the union sizzles when Mooryc, Schlepp Geist, Affkt, Chris Manura and Remood strap the drums on to the moped and chase the wind. Techno and house stretched right over its boundaries. A candy storm of elegant blows and snares in the right places. Melodies without the use of sandpaper yet still smoothly polished, bestow a view into the varied ‚Sound-universe‘ when Douglas Greed sparks sounds – releasing endorphins in the bloodstream. 1. Spark Spark opens as a swinging house ballad for the tracklist. Steadily advancing, the rhythm siezes the attention of slinging body parts and the hypnotic vocals spark in the sunrise. 2. Noisy Out of Space. Space conductor Mooryc and Captain Greed fly with a easiness through the sliding synthi-waves of the Noise Galaxy the robots serve intelligent breakfast in a land after our time. 3. Spark (Schlepp Geist RMX) In the searchlight from the drag spirit, „Spark“ reveals the spiral colored unending nature of the night. Tender yet certain he takes us with vocals and pads by the hand, directly to the light. 4. Noisy (Affkt Remix) The driving note plays Affkt blind with 11 fingers and gives the space travel „Noisy“ the club flag. The start on the shimmering carpet of the Milky Way the programmed course in the night. 5. Spark (Remood Remix) Remood beats the brakes in for quality time and shakes up the Sunday bed for „Spark“. Stuttering vocal loops, funky rimshots, finely strained snares and chilling synthies. 6. 56 Karate Tricks (Chris Manura Remix) Ready? Fight? Master Manura and the black groove-belt, a romantic liason from loud and not-so-loud beats on the buttons. the art of fight without violence!

"My Name Is Schultz", First name "Jens Lutz": two EP milestones that the artist Juno6 from Leipzig achieved in 2009 and 2011 at "Freude am Tanzen" in Jena. Finally, the third one named "No Chappi" is about to be reached in 2015. Instead of width Juno6 is focusing on depth and once again, the conscious sacrifice distinguishes Stefan Demuth's music. Computers only play a minor or no part at all for him in the studio as well as live.

Woe And Flatter starts off the EP feather-light with some nostalgic rushing. Shortly after, substance is lent to the track by a phat analogous drum set. Fluting voice shreds get lost in the bass, it resounds "A Change Is Coming". Organic is not an assertion here, pitch levels slide away, warmth spreads out. Juno6 is going deep, not into width. Shortly afterwards, during The Session he leans back into a wing chair, swings the percussions on his knees and improvises a piece of wanderlust with the C-Melody saxophone. One may divine the opened window of Demuth's backyard studio, it smells of lime trees. After getting refreshed, it continues back to the front of the dance floor with Hey There Buddy. Juno6 greets St.Germain! An organ chord is the anchor, while smooth pads shimmer away. A reminder of Acid is inwrought in the creaking bass of Rnapo Pina and a casual snap of the fingers can only thrust aside the melodic melancholy insufficiently. As a bonus and a big surprise, Tanger from the "Jens Lutz EP" of 2011 is finally to be expected as a rechap version. The original version can only be divined, uplifting & playful becomes deep & dubby. "No Chappi EP" - No bullshit!

"No Chappi EP" - No Bullshit!

There are of course a whole lotta clubs: you can go in or out, to dance, some go to play football, in some you can smoke and in others you can have a drink. Still, none of them pleases the pallate like the Monkey Maffia Music Club directed by Sören Bodner, the FAT monkey for the gruff and deep. As Monkey Maffia he tours - without rest in the name of a carefully yet profound velvety boom instead of chalk in the neck – throughout the world and now his third-edition M.M.M.C on vinyl. Once again he catches exactly the insanity-come-refined, or deep-come-cool and of course the break-come-breakthrough. A heavy, sizzling bass storm that includes a somersault.
