God, Mental Health and Wellness-Part 4

Dr. Ava Richardson

STATEMENT #3: WHEN A PERSON IS GOING THROUGH A HARD TIME, HIS MIND WANTS TO GIVE UP. IF WE CAN BE DEFEATED IN OUR MINDS, WE CAN BE DEFEATED IN OUR EXPERIENCE. THAT’S WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT THAT WE NOT LOSE HEART, GROW WEARY AND FAINT.

A. PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE
a. Unrenewed minds want to take the path of least resistance.
b. IF I can be defeated in my mind before I have the experience of God’s goodness, I won’t start.
c. If I start and don’t deal with the thought, I will sabotage that experience.

B. The LOVE OF GOD has made it possible for us to be more than conquerors. Satan couldn’t stop our salvation: so, we can’t let him or opposing thoughts win over us. Since the Love of God kept Jesus on the cross. It will keep us!

Let’s take the time to read God’s Word. I know these are several scriptures. But, they will bless us.

Romans 8: 31-39 TPT So, what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us? For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his Son. And since God freely offered him up as the sacrifice for us all, he certainly won’t withhold from us anything else he has to give. Who then would dare to accuse those whom God has chosen in love
to be his? God himself is the judge who has issued his final verdict over them— “Not guilty!” Who then is left to condemn us? Certainly not Jesus, the Anointed One! For he gave his life for us, and
even more than that, he has conquered death and is now risen, exalted, and enthroned by God at
his right hand. So how could he possibly condemn us since he is continually praying for our
triumph? Who could ever divorce us from the endless love of God’s Anointed One? Absolutely no
one! For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish his love toward us. Troubles, pressures,
and problems are unable to come between us and heaven’s love. What about persecutions,
deprivations, dangers, and death threats? No, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love,
even though it is written: All day long we face death threats for your sake, God. We are considered
to be nothing more than sheep to be slaughtered! Yet even in the midst of all these things, we
triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated
love is our glorious victory over everything! So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing
in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will
triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in
our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or
beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s
passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!

C. All love is not the same. God’s love (agape love), speaks of a love which is awakened by a sense of value in an object which causes one to prize it. The quality of this love is determined by the character of the one who loves, and that of the object loved.

D. FEAR
a. Fear is something we may experience. But we must understand, there is a fear and
there is a spirit of fear. We should not give in to either.
b. 2 Timothy 1: 7 AMPC For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven
and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of
calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
c. God did not and CANNOT give fear because He doesn’t have it. He is LOVE!
d. Scripture tells us what we do have! Let’s think on what we do have! Let’s say, what
we do have!

E. 3 ENEMIES TO OUR MIND
a. Devil, flesh and the world
b. Mind renewal is not optional.
c. Mental health is not optional.

F. Important Points:
a. In Genesis 3: 1-7 When the devil was speaking to Eve in the garden, she allowed the conversation to go too long. She kept thinking about the tree, from one though to the next. It caused her to disobey God. To let go of what she knew was truth. How many times do we allow that negative thought to keep running through our head until doubt sets in.
b. Doubt gave birth to unbelief (stronghold).

c. Doubt causes a person to waiver between 2 opinions; whereas, unbelief leads to
disobedience. Joyce Meyer
d. Mental Health is necessary (essential). Each of us should purpose to take care of our mental health. Don’t be lazy. Take it serious.

G. YOU WANT THE TOOLS TO WIN/GENERATIONAL IMPACT-OUR CHILDREN
a. Staying close to the Presence of God

In the Bible, the tribe of Gad made a decision to live away from the Presence of God. This decision gave the devil access to his children. Don’t allow our thoughts to run crazy! The enemy is okay with us struggling. Let’s not be okay with struggling. Let’s not magnify the struggle.

Don’t move further back from the plan of God. We should move closer. Keep the door shut! Think about your children.

H.To win, we must set some PRIORITIES.
a. Presence of God
b. Word of God
c. Will of God
d. Believer’s Authority

Jesus is the Head of the body. Since the Head triumphed! We, the body triumphed.

Be determined to walk in Victory!

God, Mental Health and Wellness-Part 3

Dr. Ava. Richardson

STATEMENT #2: MOST BATTLES/STRUGGLES ARE FIRST SURRENDERED TO IN THE MIND.
A. SURRENDERED DEFINED
1. To cease resistance to the enemy or opponent and submit to their authority
2. To give up or hand over a person, right, or possession
3. Resign-to give up

Joyce Meyer has a book called “THE BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND”. She testifies of the different things that happened to her that affected her mentally. In Dr. Adam’s book, Change your Thinking, Transform Your Life, he stated that change (renewing the mind) is the hardest thing to do. And, our dominant thoughts will be what we act on and become. Therefore, we must pay attention to what we think about.

Important points:
a. Every thought that comes to our minds is not our thoughts-not a good thought.
b. There can be a thought and then an interruption of another thought that is trying to
divert us from the richness and prosperity of what God wants us to have.
c. Sometimes we don’t see what we should have because of how we think or what we haven’t thought enough on.

Joshua 1: 8 AMPC 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall
meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it.
For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good
success.
Joshua 1: 8 TPT Recite this scroll of the law constantly. Contemplate it day and night and be
careful to follow every word it contains; then you will enjoy incredible prosperity and success.
There are some good thoughts that can lead us into a wealth and a richness that is such a blessing to our lives.

From these scriptures, we can see that what we meditate, what we ponder and think on, will determine our success. So, we must ask ourselves, do we want to be healthy mentally? Is there a way to be well mentally. Based on Joshua 1:8, the answer is definitely, without a doubt, YES!

God, Mental Health and Wellness-Part 2

Dr. Ava Richardson

A. OBJECTIVE OF THIS TEACHING:
• To bring us into more of the wisdom and knowledge of God concerning our minds.
• Mental health and wellness are a part of our covenant rights.
• Mental health/wellness was included in the salvation plan.
B. FOUNDATION SCRIPTURES
• 3 John 1:2KJV 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
• 1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your
whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
According to this scripture, we are triune beings: spirit, soul, and body. God’s wants every part of us WHOLE! As my soul prospers, every part of me is really counting on it.

C. STATEMENT #1: THE FATHER NEVER INTENDED FOR MAN TO WIN IN HIS SPIRIT AND LOSE IN HIS SOUL.

There are five components of the soul. They are: mind, will, emotions, intellect, and the imagination.
The enemy doesn’t want us to prosper in my soul. If we don’t understand how important it is to keep our thoughts, we will have identity theft/identity crisis.

There are frequencies that are trying to steal/disturb/grab our thoughts. For what
purpose? To steal our identity. To steal who we are as new creations in Christ Jesus,
who we are as believers in Christ, what we have in Him and what we can do in Him. Our spiritual maturity will determine how much I will access.

Romans 12: 1-2 KJV: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present
your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:1-2 AMPC I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the
mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and
faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your
reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. 2Do not be conformed to this
world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be
transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new
attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will
of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Romans 12: 1-2 TPT “Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous
mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live-in holiness,
experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. Stop
imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the
Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s
will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.”

Declaration #1: The Father’s best for me is wholeness in every area & I will have it by doing the work required for total transformation of my mind, in Jesus’ Name.

God, Mental Health and Wellness-Part 1

Dr. Ava Richardson

When we read the Bible, we can find so many people who had mental stress. There is no way Job or Joseph could have gone through what they went through without having mental health challenges. Job was stressing and having anxiety about his children. Jesus went through profound mental and emotional suffering, in the garden of Gethsemane.

  • Jesus told His disciples, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death” (Matthew 26:38).
  • He prayed, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:39).

When we go through things, our minds and the devil don’t want us to believe that God really cares about us. And, He doesn’t want us to know that God cares enough to do something about it. God not only wants us whole spiritually but also mentally. His wants our souls blessed. I encourage you to give yourself to this study. Let’s start with some scriptures to think on.

Let’s look at some scriptures:

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and
ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30 AMPC 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and []refresh []your souls.]
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble
(lowly) in heart, and you will find rest ([]relief and ease and refreshment
and []recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.
30 For My yoke is wholesome (useful, []good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing,
but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be
borne.
Jeremiah 6:16 AMPC 16 Thus says the Lord: Stand by the roads and look; and ask for the eternal paths, where the good, old way is; then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, We will not walk in it!
Matthew 11:28-30 TPT “Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for Iam your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover
that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.
For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”
Psalm 55: 22 Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will
never let the righteous be shaken.

Matthew 11:28-30 The Message 28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk
with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of
grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and
you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Isaiah 53:3-8 KJV 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him
not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him
stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

John 10:10 AMPC 10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and
destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to
the full, till it [a] overflows).

Times of Refreshing from the Presence of the Lord

Teacher: Pastor Ava Richardson

Foundation Scripture:

Acts 3: 19 AMPC 19So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord;

There is a mark that God has for our lives. And when we miss that mark, it is sin. Read Acts 3:19. Before the refreshing can take place, there is something we must do first. We must get our minds clean and get them cleared to experience what God has for us.

The Times of Refreshing is a time of refreshing, recovery and reset. It is also a time of recalibration.

As believers, recalibration comes becomes God will never forget what He intended man to be. He always wants to bring us back to the original place.

So, He recalibrates us. Recalibrate implies to adjust or correct our settings which have been set off. He actively realign us so we will continue to value with He values.

Philippians 2:12 (TPT) 12 My beloved ones, just like you’ve always listened to everything I’ve taught you in the past, I’m asking you now to keep following my instructions as though I were right there with you. Now you must continue to make this new life fully manifested as you live in the holy awe of God—which brings you trembling into his presence.

How many times have our phones needed a reset? Sometimes, it is easy. But if there is a virus, we must perform a hard reset so the phone can forget everything that possibly caused it to malfunction. We should only need a reset annually. Take note, if we need it more than once, something is running as an undercurrent in our lives that is causing us to malfunction.

Why is recalibration so important? First, know it is the Holy Spirit doing the work. We want Him to have His way. Recalibration is needed because our redemption is real. Your redemptions is real. What Jesus did for us is eternal redemption.

Scripture Proof: Hebrews 9: 12 He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].

Our understanding of our redemption is vitally important. Therefore, here at CLBC, our diet will be one where we understand our eternal redemption. We must understand what Jesus said we could do and what we could have. We’ve got to get to the point that we say, “I’m redeemed enough to do it.”

Matthew 4: 3 states 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” This verse lets us know that satan knew Jesus was the Messiah. However, satan couldn’t figure out how God got into human form to take care of him. (Think and pause.) Not only did God put Himself in Jesus as human form, He also put Himself inside of every man. That’s why our calibration had to be recalibrated. Christ reproduced Himself!

There is a fuller manifestation of who we really are in Christ. Read Colossians 2: 8-10: Colossians 2: 8-10 TPT Beware that no one distracts you or intimidates you in their attempt to lead you away from Christ’s fullness by pretending to be full of wisdom when they’re filled with endless arguments of human logic. For they operate with humanistic and clouded judgments based on the mindset of this world system, and not the anointed truths of the Anointed One. 9 For he is the complete fullness of deity living in human form. 10 And our own completeness is now found in him. We are completely filled with God as Christ’s fullness overflows within us. He is the Head of every kingdom and authority in the universe!

It declares the fullest of the Godhead lives bodily in us. There is an adversary who would want us to live a strip down version of ourselves. There is an adversary that doesn’t want us tap into our full redemption. During this times of refreshing and recalibration, you are empowered to stand strong in your redemptive rights. God will meet us on and in the pages of His Word.

Let’s meet with God every day!

Cultivating Honor in Freedom

Teacher: Dr. Ava Richardson

Foundation Scripture: Matthew 23: 12-13 TPT

“Remember this: If you have a lofty opinion of yourself and seek to be honored, you will be humbled. But if you have a modest opinion of yourself and choose to humble yourself, you will be honored.”

Honor is the culture of the Kingdom. Inside the Kingdom of God, how we honor God and how we honor one another is very important. God never meant for our communion and our fellowship to be with Him only. He intends for our communion and fellowship to go both ways: with Him and with each other which makes for a perfect cross.

Honor Defined:

  • Honor is more than respectful behavior.
  • Respect focuses on outward behavior and leads to conformity.
  • Respect also acknowledges a person’s position.
  • Honor is not earned but given because the life and breath of God is on the inside of that person.
  • Honor is given because of value and worth. It attaches worth to a person.
  • Biblical honor goes beyond respect.

In navigating honor in freedom, we want to see how we are to balance honor and freedom.

Let’s read Matthew 23: 12-13 TPT again. What is Jesus teaching here? He is saying honor is a priority of God. (Stop and think about this.) It is more important than titles of men.

Another scripture to ponder: Matthew 15:8 NKJV These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.

Respect is good; but biblical honor will take you to another place!

| Think about it: Should we honor God? Your heart will tell you, yes. |

God isn’t teaching us to be disrespectful; but that He must be first place over all others.

Biblical honor is a principle established by God and if we live in this Truth, we will receive the blessing that comes with it.

In Christ Changes Everything

Dr. Adam and Dr. Ava Richardson

Foundation Scripture:

2 Corinthians 5: 17 Amp Therefore, if anyone is in Christ (that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior, he is a new creature (reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit); the old things (the previous moral and spiritual condition) have passed away. Behold, new things have come (because spiritual awakening brings a new life.)

God sees you as Victorious and so do we. We are living in the last of the last days. Therefore, we must really understand who we are in Christ.

Ephesians 2: 6 AMPC And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together (giving us joint seating with Him) in the heavenly sphere (by virtue of our being) in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One.)

This is a power-packed scripture. Look at the word “together” and joint-seating with Jesus. You are in the Victory Zone! Not gonna be. You are-present tense! So don’t fight to be normal! Be the “superman/superwoman” you have been made in Christ Jesus. This was done supernaturally.

So we must do those things that give us a supernatural mindset. Having a supernatural mindset will empower us to live out the victory Jesus won for us. Let’s make it personal and walk in the reality of this truth, in Jesus Name.

A Deeper Place

Pastor Adam L. Richardson, Sr.

God started working in us before we got saved. See if you can identify with this. It seems for the first two years of our lives in Christ, we seem happy and fulfilled. But about that third to third and half years of our being in Christ, we may feel a little void or empty. Like, what’s going on?

In some instances, this is God bringing us to that deeper place. He does it on purpose because we have stayed in one spiritual place too long. (Selah) Now some people don’t understand what’s happening so they don’t yield to the work God is trying to do in them. Did you know that God is always calling us to a deeper life in Him since the day we came out of our mother’s womb?

It’s God wanting to do more in us and through us. But, the place that we are in-He can’t use us. He is saying He’s not satisfied at where we are, so He makes us unsatisfied. We are so accustomed to God doing things for us. But, now it’s time for us to do for Him. Like, He has a world for us to tell about Jesus. Let me say everything. Some people interpret it wrong and they quit on God. How could that be the right thing to do? It’s not. They haven’t applied themselves to the Word or been faithful to fellowship so they don’t know what to know. But, God can help us all.

2 Corinthians 3: 14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

This scripture gives us a picture of the spiritual development that God desires for us. The verse can be divided: 1. Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ 2. Love of God and 3. Communion of the Holy Spirit. Most of us are familiar with the grace and love of God. To go to a deeper place in God, it is vital that we understand the communion of the Holy Spirit. Communion conveys 3 different ideas: #1. Intimacy, #2 Partnership and #3 Responsibility. As we have intimacy, a deep, deep closeness with the Holy Spirit, it will bring us into partnership with Him. In partnership with Him, there are no secrets. The Holy Spirit reveals things to us. This is where He teaches us everything God has assigned for us to do. As you commune with God, expect:

  1. To learn how to live after the spirit (not the body or mind).
  2. To learn how to walk in the power of God.
  3. To learn the voice of God.
  4. To have the mind of Christ.
  5. To pray effectively.
  6. To receive directions from the Holy Spirit.
  7. To become sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
  8. To learn how to walk in the God-kind of love!

CLBC, God doesn’t want us to just have a church experience, but He wants us to have a spiritual experience! He wants us to live, every day, in the consciousness that the Holy Spirit is in us (spirit). He is there to help us and bring us into spiritual maturity-where we not only receive from God; but we will grow up in Him, so He can use us to release His power to bless others. We will walk in love and the people will know we are God’s disciple! We will love the way God loves us. We will make a difference to all those that we meet, in Jesus Name. AMEN!

According to Romans 6:14- Sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.  This scripture is referring to the new creation man-the man who has received Christ as his Savior. If sin doesn’t have dominion over you nor does Satan. Now it’s one thing to know this, but its a whole different ball game to live in this truth. If I can live in the light of this truth then I will understand and experience the victory that Christ has brought for me as a believer in Christ.

Do you believe in the Resurrection of Christ?   If we believe in the resurrection of Christ, the next thing to do is act.  Yes, after we truly believe, we must act for the power of the resurrection to work in us. Isn’t it good to hear the gospel and then to have a witness of  the reality of Jesus Christ?  When we believe and act on the truth that Jesus has risen from the dead, our lives are set on the path God has for it. Then, we will want to tell others about the opportunity to come into fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. What an experience!  What joy we get to witness what we have witnessed/experienced!   What joy to share the benefits we have received because of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior.  Allow this teaching to encourage you to not be silent.  May it stirred you to act, again.

On the inside, do you hear the calling of God to a deeper place?  Do you feel like you have been in the place in God too long?  During this teaching Dr. A.L. Richardson shares his testimony about these same feelings and how he moved forward. He states:  God will disturb your peace when it is time to move to get you on pace with where He wants you to go.  He had to realize there were 3 phases to view: 1) God’s grace 2) God’s love and 3)  the Communion of with the Holy Spirit. When we move to the 3rd phase of communing with the Holy Spirit, it is the place we learn more deeply how to live after the Spirit, to hear the voice of God, to pray more effectively, to walk in the power of God, to receive direction from the Spirit and much more! Do you truly realize that marriages are under attack, Christian and non-Christian marriages? Think about that.  This shows us that we must stand “watch” over our marriages.  Success in marriage is NOT an automatic.   Therefore, we must get an understanding, a godly understanding.  Understanding is defined as, “knowledge and comprehensive of original purpose and intent of a thing and the principles by which a thing was designed to function”.  To possess understanding of something, you must know its original intent.    We need to know: What was in the mind of the one who made it? How did the creator of the thing intend for it to function? When a family is under attack, the man is the first one under attack. The male becomes under attack by the enemy before he is a husband. Why? Because he is the head. He is the foundation.  If you destroy the foundation, nothing else is solid.  So, you must see the strategy of the enemy.  The attack is intensified once he takes the position of a husband. If a woman really wanted to help her husband, the first position to take is an intercessor.  Do less complaining and more praying. How has enemy […]

It’s recorded in Genesis chapter 6, it is recorded that Noah found favor with God and He obeyed God. Noah was a giant. Because Noah believed and obeyed God, many considered him to be foolish.   We must understand that the gospel message is meant to be a message of deliverance not a message of discretion.  It comes to deliver us from our issues, not to teach us to be discreet us in our mess. As Christians, remember Noah, he and his family was saved.   There is a significance in the number one (1)!  If you are the only one in your family, do what God says!
