She talks about how she overcame many obstacles from it and one day she decided "no more" and took control of her life by attending self-help programs such as PSI Basic, PSI7, and other programs that helped build up her confidence, learning to forgive, take back her life, lead the life she deserved with love and joy and her strong love for God that helped her in her dark times.

Eyes Upon Waking is inspired by a true story about one woman’s struggle to come to terms with her own existence. This project is about the disease of suicide and how it is misunderstood by society. This film uncovers the darkness in the minds of those who suffer from their emotions yet shows how light can be found with the right kind of help. Those who are lost to us cannot be returned. I wanted to bring awareness of what they went through to those they've left behind. It is for any person with a friend or family member who has taken their own life and is left asking why.

No boy dreams of a life in prison. Of dysfunctional relationships and social disconnection. Fatherless teenage boys have a higher-than-average risk of participating in crime, dropping out of school, and entering the prison system before age 18.
Boys to Men Mentoring Greater Phoenix is 1 in 14 centers in the US, its model helps adolescent boys (middle to high school) find the inner resources to navigate their lives successfully.

In 2016, at age 24 years old, Matt was getting minor back pains then other pains began getting worse and worse to the where he wasn't able to walk. He was rushed to the Cleveland Ohio Clinic to do emergency testing after doctors found an 11-centimeter tumor in his small intestines, found to be cancerous and spreading quickly. His journey was far from easy and difficult to be vulnerable in expressing how he truly felt. Matt learned to be vulnerable and be ok with not being ok to cope and heal. Today he is a motivational speaker helping men learn to be more vulnerable with their emotions and sharing his journey of overcoming stage 4 cancer.

There is no cure for pancreatic cancer. Less than 9% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will not live past 5 years. Amy Phillips was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late June of 2020. It was discovered when she went to the doctor because her skin had started to change a yellowish color, also known as jaundice. This is where the doctors discovered a tumor had blocked the bile duct, not allowing the bile to leave her body.
Having no family history of pancreatic cancer, Amy has been researching this illness and learned of a new-age medicine. This process is called precision medicine. This is a gene testing to see if someone has precursors of diseases that can predict if you are susceptible allowing immediate treatment if caught in the early stages of cancer.
While there is no cure for pancreatic cancer, Amy's strength, family support, and strong faith keep her in hopes for a cure.
This is Amy's Story of Hope!

Bruce Ladebu, the Founder, spent his early years as a professional adventurer, explorer, guide, and instructor. In 1993, he was traveling through the newly formed ex-Soviet countries and heard about human trafficking. In 2003, Bruce went underground in Eastern Europe to investigate the plight of homeless children in reference to human trafficking. What he found was disturbing and beyond his ability to confront. Finally, in 2009, Bruce was taken to slave fields in western Asia and what he saw was beyond his comprehension: hundreds of people working in hard labor. Before the end of the day, he rescued his first child.

Paolla and Laloboy will continue to advocate for better policies to support mental health and to have laws in place to keep the children safe against internet predators.
Paolla talks about the details and passing of the bill #HB2459 -

Society has led us to believe we need to look a certain way to be accepted. Whether by the trauma, "masks" of 'I am ok", with a smile that hides our pain, by the things we see others wearing and doing or with filters we can use to cover our flaws, make us more attractive and flawless. No matter your age men and women both struggle with their body image. Charise Dickerson Shares Her Struggles with Self Image and how she has accepted this is who God perfectly created her to be!

Tim Oldham was diagnosed with a CSF (Spinal Cord Fluid Leak) with a 5% chance of survival. This means spinal fluid was leaking from his spinal cord, into his brain cavity, and out his nose. This was the result of an injury and it caused a brain tumor to grow. He was transported to Tucson for care and given a 5% chance of surviving the surgery. Upon hearing this, Tim told the doctor that God had made some promises that hadn't happened yet, so I was going to pray, he could doctor, and we would be fine. During one of Tim's interviews, he argues the doctor didn't believe him, but it was how Tim saw things.
With time having a scarce chance of surviving the surgery, he was told to bring a power of attorney, a living will, and someone to make legal choices for him. Tim was in surgery for almost seven hours. When he woke up, the doctor told him that there were only two things in this world that kept me alive: God and coffee.
Tim Oldham was 1 in 7 million to survive the surgery.

Valerie McMahon Shares Her Story of Hope!
Anger, it’s a complicated emotion but one Valerie has learned can tell us what our hearts might be tethered to...like fear, regret, shame, doubt, unmet needs, lies, etc. Valerie experienced anger in a way that surprised her after the tragic death of her only sibling and brother by suicide in 1999. She was angry with herself she was angry with God, she was even angry with her brother. But God used not only the tragedy but the anger to open Valerie’s eyes and heart to understand herself better, to understand God better, and even to understand her brother’s choice better. This has in time led her to experience hope, healing, and the opportunity to help others find hope and healing in their painful and heartbreaking experiences as well.

Thousands of children every year are abused, neglected, and abandoned.
Thousands of children have been separated from their parents bringing them across the border.
Only 2 countries in the world have not signed on to any kind of global protection for children's rights - Sudan and the United States.
Richard Vilasana, and his team at Forever Homes for Foster Kids works to bridge this gap and match many of these children with living relatives to try and keep families together.
Without family finding, many children stay in foster care for years bouncing from one place to the other. Once they aged out (become too old to stay in the foster care program), they end up on the streets with little or no support.
By locating foster children's family members, Forever Homes for Foster Kids become the primary method to move these kids out of foster care and into forever homes.
Forever Homes for Foster Kids believes that all U.S. foster children deserve to live happy, healthy lives in a permanent home.

Anna Mitchell chose to battle her Breast Cancer by refusing to listen to any test results or updates from her doctors. Anna would even go so far as to ask her friends to come with her and she would hand over all of the updates to her friend. While some might consider Anna's decision to be denial, Anna views her decision and choosing to ignore anything negative and keep only positive energy around her until losing her breasts.
Given that her journey hasn't gone exactly as she planned, Anna has trusted that her journey is exactly what God planned for her.

Shane Therrien dreamed of playing college basketball. Shane spent his freshman year building his skills and attending the University of Arizona Wildcats basketball camp. At the same time, Shane was invited to a high school church retreat and had a life-changing experience that would forever change the course of his life.
Shane was a late bloomer and at age 21 he was finally given the opportunity to try out for an Arizona college. While he didn't get a callback, he was alerted to something that felt a little off. Eventually, Shane was not able to get out of bed. After multiple tests, Shane's doctor told him he had a spinal cord tumor.

A childhood encounter would lead Joanne Sweeney on a journey that would land her in some of the roughest parts of Chandler, AZ. While in the 3rd grade, Joanne experienced a childhood that was filled with abuse from her father. One fateful day, Joanne was invited by Mr. Mike Egley to come to church. Faithfully, he provided transportation weekly that his church, Calvary Temple, coordinated with the city of Springfield, OR. This invitation would change her life forever. A couple of years before his passing, Joanne asked Mr. Egley why he spent his time knocking on doors inviting children to come to Sunday School where she grew up. Mr. Egley's answer was simple, "Because God told me to." These 5 simple words set an example for Joanne and would start her on a path of ministering to others. Today, Joanne knocks on doors inviting young people to attend church, and Jump Start Ministries, partners with other local organizations to bring hope, faith, and love to families and their children. Discover Joanne Sweeney's Story Of Hope as we Spotlight: Jump Start Ministries. https://jumpstart-ministries.org/ Connect with Joanne and Jump Start on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jumpstartjoannesweeney/

Traci struggled with hypertension, high-blood-pressure, diabetes, and asthma, from her 20's. Doctors were confused about how to best treat her. Every attempt to change medications would cause adverse reactions. It wasn't until many years later that her doctor would eventually decide to test for kidney issues. Traci was in Stage 3 Renal Kidney Failure.
Immediately, she changed her own diet and asked around for the best possible solutions for dietary options which seemed impossible to uncover.
Today, Traci, with the help of new doctors, has implemented new diets and treatments while looking for a living kidney donor as the disease takes its toll on her body.
This is Traci Perce's Story Of Hope!

Shortly afterward, Pricilla's older sister would also go through with an abortion procedure and Pricilla would have a second procedure performed some years later.
Pricilla would spend years in depression and alcohol abuse including 2 years involved in the abortion industry.

Rick Stitt, lives in the town of Chickasha, Oklahoma. His act of kindness went viral with over 100,000 shares on social media when a couple of good friends found out his mower was stolen. This wasn't just any mower, this is the mower he has been using for a couple of years to assist those who are unable to mow their lawns for free, such as 97-year-old WWII, Korea, and Vietnam Vete!ran. He has cut over 175 lawns this year!! With the help of some friends and his local radio station Kool 105.5, his act of kindness was recognized and what his community did after that warms my heart.
Rick understands hardships as we all have had them. He is also a lifetime member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). A watchdog organization that makes sure all veterans get the compensation they have coming.
Listen to what else he and his wife are doing in their community with the children. This story will warm your heart too.

For many Serious Mentally Ill (SMI) individuals, independence has become a liability and lack of support for self-sufficient individuals (caught in the gap) leads to a cycle of homelessness.
Dsquared Homes For The Homeless currently supports the chronically homeless, and our long term goal is the prevention of homelessness for SMI individuals. Empowerment begins where charity ends, but stability (and support) are required.

Up to 20% of Veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan wars suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Although there are many symptoms of PTSD, nightmares and hyper-vigilance are the two most common signs.
https://sycamoresunriseranch.org/
Dawn Christon is the very proud mother of an American Soldier who fought the war in Iraq.
While he was gone, Dawn, her sister Kelly, and her husband Tom, immersed ourselves in helping families of deployed Soldiers in any way they could think of. When they were informed that our troops didn’t have some of the basic necessities, they sent supplies. When the Soldiers needed heaters, they sent them without hesitation. When they needed misters to keep cool, they sent them. They found that our Soldiers needed so much more than they were able to get through regular government means.
Along the way, Dawn and her family met some amazing Veterans and families who helped them understand the trials and tribulations that come from the horrors of war.
Like most people, they heard about Soldiers who suffer from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but Dawn truly had no idea on how severe the impact of PTSD is for these heroes.
After her son returned home, Dawn continued working with Veterans in as many aspects of their new lives as she could. Dawn and her family saw, firsthand, the problems families have dealing with PTSD. Their work with other Veterans, and our knowledge of the condition, was a blessing in disguise, as it helped them to recognize the signs of PTSD in their son.

His memory is never forgotten, and certainly his heart literally lives on with his gift of saving 4 lives.

Christian was a miracle in so many ways.... This story will definitely move you.
* Joubert Syndrome, a rare brain malformation characterized by the absence or underdevelopment of the cerebellar vermis - an area of the brain that controls balance and coordination -- as well as a malformed brain stem (molar tooth sign). The most common features of Joubert syndrome in infants include abnormally rapid breathing (hyperpnea), decreased muscle tone (hypotonia), abnormal eye movements, impaired intellectual development, and the inability to coordinate voluntary muscle movements (ataxia). Physical deformities may be present, such as extra fingers and toes (polydactyly), cleft lip or palate, and tongue abnormalities. Kidney and liver abnormalities can develop, and seizures may also occur. Many cases of Joubert syndrome appear to be sporadic (not inherited). In most other cases, Joubert syndrome is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner (meaning both parents must have a copy of the mutation) via mutation in at least 10 different genes.

Life is precious in living and in passing. I share my story with the loss of my daughter Nicole Marie on New Years Day 2007, not to get sympathy but to allow you to better understand why I founded this podcast, by giving you hope when something different has either happend to you or you were born different according to the "norm" way of thinking. I can't change the world, but I can make a difference, one person one day at a time by sharing a story you too may be able to relate to or can share with someone in need of hearing these stories.
The loss of a child is painful and a constant reminder of how precious life truly is. It's not just a cliche' but a way of living should you allow to see it through your heart and eyes as I do.
Welcome to my story..... In memory of my precious daughter Nicole Marie "Forever 17"
