View from the Forest: Recent Episodes

Bill Jones

The aim of the podcast is to try and encourage young people to get interested and excited about joining our industry, by showing the huge diverse nature of the job at a grass roots level.I am looking to cover all aspects of our industry from nurseries, contractors, sawmills, private sector, private estates, education, training, historians, community woodlands and any other areas you feel should be covered.Would you please pass onto colleagues, friends etc. who may be interested and can pass it on to someone who wants to know more about the job.I hope, at some stage, to start collecting subscriptions, advertising, funding etc. to sponsor a scholarship for one or two young people to get into the industry through college courses etc. The scholarship will be named The Rena Tarwinska Memorial Scholarship, in memory of our old friend and colleague Rena Tarwinska who a lot of you may remember from your training days back in the 80’s and 90’s.There is a lot more to come in the next few weeks as I sort it out and edit it all ,this is just the beginning. I am also looking for volunteers to be interviewed so please don’t be shy and if you would like to contribute please get in touch.
