A liquor store owner is haunted by the ghosts of those who literally drank themselves to death due to his enablement, which he always saw as the “right" thing to do.
In part seven, we learn right away how deeply the FBI has been investigating the GAP cops, who meanwhile continue to torture Victor Garza for information on McGill's killer. As Det. D'Azarian and Agent Culver head toward BP police station to get more info from Police Aide Gabe, Dilly hits a realization and sees if she can make a strong enough connection to make an arrest. From there, the task force sets their aim on Lt. Girardi and Dilly figures out the one spot he has left to hide. All there is now... is the matter of bringing in the toughest gang cop in the San Gabriel Valley. In part six, the FBI begins to lose patience as Chief Ardales is unable to contact Lt. Girardi and summon him for questioning. Det. D'Azarian continues her off-the-book investigation into McGill's murder and finds a key CI has been taken out, so she decides to head down another bend. That road leads her to an abandoned warehouse out in Irwindale where she prepares to get the drop on the GAP cops and stop them before they make a huge mistake, but there ends up being an even bigger threat waiting for her instead. In part five, Det. D'Azarian and the GAP cops are officially placed on leave and instructed to stop all investigations. Dilly naturally makes copies of her files and decides a week of "vacation" is just enough time to wrap this whole mess up. Meanwhile, Girardi is avoiding the station while he begins his own dive into finding his detective's killer. Dilly manages to use her LASD resources to make a connection to the could-be gunman, and presents this info to the GAP cops, gaining her entrance into the posse. She then heads out to check out a lead suspect's safehouse only to run into a storm of bullets and another curve in the mystery. Tune in next week for PART SIX: STACKING UP. In part four, the entire BP police department puts the death of Det. McGill on Dilly's meddling as she contends with her own supervisor's critique of an investigation that seems to be growing bloodier by the minute. Chief Ardales lets Girardi know that the FBI is ready to come in and she'll be forced to put him on suspension any second now. Det. D'Azarian is then warned that she has virtually no time at all to convince the Sheriff's office and the FBI that she should continue with the case, so she goes off whatever hunches she has and finds a break that may just keep the investigation in her hands. In part three, Dilly focuses on keeping herself safe after the drive-by, and keeping the GAP detectives close, still unsure if they had anything to do with the strike. She then learns that the FBI is ready to swoop in at any moment and she will have to work as fast as she can if she wants control of the investigation. Meanwhile Girardi rallies his troops and decides to pay a surprise visit to one of the most powerful gang leaders and make a plea for a joint attack in one last effort to maintain peace. In part two, we get a glimpse into Lt. Girardi's GAP Unit interview and what made him stand out to Chief Ardales. Det. D'Azarian then gets invited into the office to talk with the lieutenant and he manages to avoid answering questions by offering her a ride along as they visit a Parque Trece leader's house. In part one of the story, we get a little background on BPPD Chief Kimora Ardales and how she formed the first Gang Activity Prevention Unit, recruiting the infamous Francis Girardi, who would eventually take over. We then meet Det. D'Azarian, an LASD deputy assigned to looking into the BPPD for instances of corruption. As she tries to talk w/ Girardi, she finds obstacle after obstacle in what feels like avoidance. Meanwhile, Girardi discovers that there's an imminent uprising in a mid-level gang, and the entire streets could fall into war as a result. Tune in next week for PART TWO: CREATIVITY.
