The purpose of being a disciple is not only to proclaim the good news, the word of salvation, but also to demonstrate the love of God to people who are in need. We cannot come out of the darkness and simply bask in His marvelous light; we need to go back into the darkness and make a difference. We are chosen by God to be “salt” and “light.”
Wherever we are in the world—individually or collectively as the Adventist Church body—the surrounding environs must be different, transformed by our faithful presence amongst them. When we say we are Christians, we are not talking about self-serving Churchianity, but other-serving Christianity. A Christianity that reflects Jesus’ heart of servant hood.
We must make the shift from just going to a church to being a church in the world around us. We must pray for God’s intervention in our own lives, listen to people’s struggles and challenges, and look for opportunities in the neighborhoods and communities that surround us to serve and demonstrate God’s love. Only then will we witness real change—changes in lives and changes in our communities.
Introduction of God’s Mission on the earth through Luke 4:18-19 (Great Calling), Matthew 28 (Great Commission), and Isaiah 58 (Great Command).
Especially, when managing in a cross-cultural setting you may be faced with many challenges. How do you avoid pitfalls and cultural faux pas? How can you create opportunities to build relationships and understanding with people who are different?
The participants of this workshop will be challenged to identify their own biases, learn to adapt their personal leadership styles in order to increase their sensitivity towards others, and build bridges of communication with those in need who live in their communities.
The purpose of this discussion is to help the participants to:
Debrief some of their own experiences they have already had with people from other cultures,
Develop an awareness of their own cultural conditioning,
Understand the foundational concepts of culture and cross-cultural communication,
Improve your ability to lead increasingly multicultural groups,
And minister with cross-cultural sensitivity to people from different cultural backgrounds.
Have you wondered if your ministry is effective? Whether your ministry will be viable in the future? How do you know if your participation is imperative? We can’t keep doing the same old, same old, and expect to see any changes in our communities, not to mention in our personal spiritual growth. We are living in an emerging world and change is inevitable. There are demands that churches and Para-church organizations should demonstrate the results they have an impact on, not just engage in events and activities. Church is not exempt from the pressure to discover which ministry or service really makes a difference in the community development or in an individual’s life. This session is designed to show church ministry leaders how to use performance measurement to enhance the effectiveness of their community outreach ministries.
The purpose of this discussion is to learn how to engage in faith-based community development programs and interventions in local and global settings.
We will explore biblically-based principles that align with sociological methods of interpreting and defining the urban ministry and employ in ‘collective impact’ through deep collaborations with all three sectors—public, private and nonprofit—to engage in community transformation.
Every Adventist’s desire must be faithfulness in God’s service and for His mission. We must reach out to everyone—sharing, caring, and proclaiming the good news of God’s redemptive work, so that people can see us as a recognizable, tangible, and visible sign of the kingdom of God on earth. Adventism is not about being the best church in the community; it is about being the best church for the community.

Lack of knowledge about grief can contribute to difficult life adjustment after a loss. However, understanding the widespread impact of grief on one’s daily life, and how the integration of loss can generate resilience, healing and hope, can be reassuring in navigating the treacherous course of grief.
In this grief session, you will learn how to develop and identify practical coping skills, review what worked in the past, and how to apply it to present wound to activate emotional and spiritual resilience.
In this session you will learn how to acknowledge and identify different types of grief that are impactful yet not recognized as pertinent grief with self, others and society. You will also learn how to maximize your potential in thriving well while living with loss.
Small Groups on a Mission: One system does not fit all! Through many years of teaching and practicing Small Group Ministries, I have found that there are three basic types of groups used in churches with small groups. Discover the strengths and goals of each group and apply that which best fits your church's personality. You can be a church with small groups or you can be a church of small groups. Come find out the strategies of small groups and their purposes, you will be glad you did.
Session #1
TRIADS
These groups have two-five members each. They are gender base and are incredible in Spiritual Growth, Accountability, and Evangelism. They are the most flexible of all groups.
Ministry Groups meet for 10 weeks, each presenting a specific theme in reaching out to church members, friends, neighbors, and the community. Ministry Groups meet 3-4 times a year sharing different topics as will meet specific needs. Great for Spiritual Growth and/or meeting needs. A great ministry for both the members and the community.
Do you want to experience the small groups that have grown some of the largest groups in the world? These groups meet weekly, reach out to others and multiply as they fill to their limit, thus starting new groups. Each group enters into community, prayer, study, and reaches out in evangelism. A highly committed and spiritual experience grows disciples throughout their cycle.
This seminar explores innovative ways to grow and keep an audience.
While not discounting traditional mailings, it is important to use a multifaceted approach to build an audience. The better pre-work for a series, the more fruitful the results will be. We have identified 5 ways that every member can engage in the evangelism process. Even those with lots of experience with pubic evangelism will pick up some fresh ideas from this seminar.
