The pandemic has changed a lot of things, including the way we network. To talk about this shift, I am joined by someone Forbes, Lifehacker, and Harvard Business Review all recognize as a networking expert: Robbie Samuels. With the new normal rendering his expertise inapplicable, Robbie has had to reinvent. By doing so, he became an industry expert in the field of digital event design in order to continue helping others grow and expand their network.
Some of the topics we cover in this episode include the importance of community, networking tactics, and how to make Zoom meetups much less boring. For the eighty-second episode of The Nomadic Executive, I am joined by an extraordinary guest, Matt Bowles, who embodies what it truly means to be a truly locationally-independent digital nomad. Matt Bowles is the host of podcast The Maverick Show. He is also the founder of The Maverick Group, a real estate investing business that’s never had a physical office ever. In this episode, Matt not only talks about his awesome journey to becoming a locationally independent digital nomad and the places he’s been so far. He also touches upon the things you need to do in order to figure out the qualities you and your business partners should have in order to build a successful, long term business relationship. For the 81st episode of The Nomadic Executive, I am joined by someone who has always flirted with the idea of working remotely but never would’ve done it had the pandemic not happened. This week I am joined by Adam Smith, a senior product manager at PubMatic and the founder of Origin Story. Adam is among the thousands that got thrust into having to work from home when the pandemic started. After a year of working and traveling across the country, Adam now says that remote work will soon become the standard working setup post-pandemic.
In this episode, Adam talks about the difficulties of getting oneself out of the professional career bubble in New York where he was based for most of his career. He then shares with us the dizzying blur of things that he went through on the early days of his remote work transition, and the different experiences he earned throughout the journey. Adam also talks about how Origin Story came to be and what he plans to do to further expand the movement.

Writing 500-word blog posts changed the life of my guest this week. By now, you’re probably aware that copywriting is a high level skill that can truly transform your business and career. In this episode, I am joined by the founder and CEO of Stories and Copy, Francis Nayan, who went from teaching English to kindergarteners in Budapest to becoming a world-class email copywriter and strategist after realizing that teaching wasn’t his kind of genius. Francis’ copy continues to stay within the 500 word count mark, but it’s definitely helped grow businesses and build networks.
In this episode, Francis talks about how he went from zero to hero through Fiverr gigs and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that gave him a boost in his copywriting journey. Newly minted copywriters can also take a page from Francis’ book as he reveals the formula he follows when writing email copy. In addition to this, Francis also shares his insights and strategies towards client acquisition. The eightieth episode of The Nomadic Executive comes loaded with stories and value that you can takeaway and apply in your own journey.

Think the only business you can franchise is a fast food restaurant? Think again! In this week’s episode, I am joined by none other than Dr. John P. Hayes, who has authored several bestselling books throughout his career and is currently the Titus Chair for Franchise Leadership. Dr. John Hayes has definitely lived a very storied life. Tune in as he takes us for a stroll down memory lane, all the way back to the time when he started writing to supplement his insufficient income as the head of the magazine writing program at Temple until he became an authority about franchising.
In this episode, Dr. John P. Hayes shares how meeting James Michener changed the course of his life. He also talks about how he almost passed up the opportunity to write Franchise, the book that not only changed his life, but the marketing game entirely! The writer-turned-franchisee-and-franchisor offers plenty of valuable advice that will not only enrich you as a business owner but as a person as well!

Companies and employees in many industries now know that it’s possible for them to work outside the corporate setting. This is a topic that I covered previously with fellow digital nomad and remote worker podcast host Mitko Karshovski. That conversation happened a year ago. Now, we get together again, and this time we talk about how drastically the landscape of remote work has changed since we last got together on this podcast.
Mitko Karshovski is the host and founder of That Remote Life. In this episode, Mitko joins me to talk about Parable, his newest venture, and how it can help digital nomads and their businesses. We also pick up on our previous conversation where we discuss what the future for remote workers will look like, and what steps we can take to prepare ourselves and our businesses for adapting to the constant and major changes the remote work landscape will be seeing in the near future. Brace yourself, nomad fam, this week’s episode has a lot of value for you to takeaway!

People go to Thailand for its beaches, food, and parties. But did you know that it has also become a top destination for digital nomads and remote workers as well? This week, I am joined by Elie Assuied, one of the forefront leaders of the digital nomad movement in Koh Phangan. Elie has played a very significant role in changing Koh Phangan from simply being a party animal’s paradise to a digital nomad and remote worker’s mecca.
Elie Assuied is the CEO and founder of Remote&Digital. Together with his team, Elie creates co-living and co-working spaces where digital nomads and remote workers can come together to achieve not only peak productivity but also their physical and mental wellbeing goals. In this episode, Elie talks about why he decided to shift from playing host to fun-time tourists to developing a safe haven for digital nomads, and the work that he and his wife put into it. He also shares some spectacular anecdotes from the interactions he’s had with his guests over the years (you’d be surprised at what one of his guests do for a living!). And most importantly, Elie and I talk about what we think the future of the digital nomad movement will be like in the near future.

Ever wondered what it was like to be an influencer before it actually became a thing? Then you’re in for a treat! In this week’s episode, I am joined by David Sandel, who got to experience that life and may have helped shape the influencer marketing business model to what it is today. However, that life is behind David now, because these days he’s busy with scaling his marketing agency, Low Gravity Solutions. David remarkably scaled his business to where it is now thanks to his multiple partnerships with e-comm platforms like MailChimp and Klaviyo.
In this week’s episode, David and I touch upon his freelancer past and his experience of the early influencer life. David also talks about how he got his big break thanks to word of mouth and the value of connections and strong social proof. We also cover why and how getting a partnership can change the trajectory of your business and life, even if you’re still relatively new to the industry or already have several years of experience under your belt.

Is your business working for you or are you still working for your business? We all know that it takes a lot of hard work and persistent effort to get an entrepreneurial venture off the ground so that we can reach that point where we can afford to have the freedom to choose what we want to do with our time. In this week’s episode, I got the chance to sit and talk with Justin Oglesby who went from being a committed bull-rider and missionary to being a co-founder of a 7-figure agency that helps other businesses get full sales calendars.
In this episode, Justin briefly regales us with tales of his incredibly storied life as a bull rider and missionary. He also touches upon the life-changing event that changed the trajectory of his life forever. On top of that, Justin also drops some awesome nuggets of wisdom on how you can generate as many leads as possible without shelling out exorbitant amounts of money.

How long do you see yourself living the nomadic life? Most of us have only just begun in this journey and there’s really no telling how long we can actually keep it up. In today’s episode, I sat down with veteran digital nomad Andrew Jernigan to talk about his amazing journey through the decades living the nomadic life together with his family. Andrew is the CEO and co-founder of insurtech company Insured Nomads that works towards helping nomads travel the world without fear.
In this week’s episode, Andrew shares how he handles the hurdles and unique dynamic of raising a nomadic family and managing a remote company at the same time. He also discusses the importance of slowing down and why it won’t get in the way of you reaching your goals. And lastly, he goes into detail about how his company Insured Nomads can help nomads live the nomadic lifestyle easier and also change the insurance game in the near future.

Would you rather commit to living and working in one country for some time or work remote? Both opportunities offer freedom and growth that would do wonders for your personal and professional growth. However, despite its appeal, many still back away from taking the chance because the process of leaving or entering a country can get really complicated.
In this week’s episode, I connected with Expat Empire founder David McNeill to talk about what it’s like to live and work abroad permanently. Through his company, David uses his love and knowledge of traveling to help others explore and find their place in the world. He also shares valuable insights about the nomadic lifestyle and how it’s changing the way we live and work abroad.

It’s been said that if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. A lot of us - if not all - aspire to live a life where we’re happy with what we do and not slaving away from 9 to 5 making someone else’s dream come true. But let’s get real: chasing one’s dreams oftentimes feels like a gamble and not everyone is willing to take that risk. It took an inexplicable health issue for today’s guest to stop participating in the rat race and go his own way. Kia Orion sold everything that wasn’t bolted to his apartment floor and flew off to Asia. There, he taught English and tried dropshipping. Unfortunately, neither pursuits resonated with him.
But one thing he was certain of was his love for music. He loves writing songs! So he took that passion and tried to make something out of it. Now, he’s got a thriving creative business that’s entirely in a league of its own. Kia may have had a rough start but he’s not about to drop his passion-fueled creative business any time soon.

Well, the first step to starting any business, whether it’s figuring out product market fit or getting customers is always, always outreach. And honestly, the best form of outreach in this day and age is cold email. Trust me when I say I can vouch for it. It’s the number one reason my business got to where it was as fast as it did. Now, I almost never vouch for products. But I’d like to share this one with my audience here as a sort of secret tool that if used correctly can be the start your own profitable online business.

What if life was just one giant video game? How would you approach the world if you had that mentality, health, wealth, relationships, communication, and really any skill you ever have to learn in life, as levels you have to pass before you gain the wisdom to move up. Got to be a jester before you can be a king. Think about it. You're born with some set stats in place. Perhaps you're born in a wealthy family, or you've got the perfect environment to grow up in, or you never get sick. Or you even naturally look like a model. You may have an edge in some stats and be less than average in others. But either way, in most cases, you can level yourself up and get better at things or traits that appeal to your values in life. And just like video games, there are cheat codes, and hacks that can help you level up faster and more efficiently with massive rewards on the other side.
This is exactly what we speak about with our guests. today. We're joined by Eric Siu, hosts of the leveling up podcast and the author of the book, leveling up mastered the game of life. Eric also co-hosts the podcast marketing school with Neil Patel who's the CEO of single grain, a digital marketing agency that's worked with brands like Uber and Amazon, and has been featured in major publications all across the world. But 20 years ago, Eric was just an ultra-competitive kid who hated school and loved video games. Join us while we dive deep into Eric's new book, and learn the tricks that can help you level up in your life.

Who do you consider the God Father of podcasting? When you think of other social platforms and their acclaimed stars, a few names probably pop up in your head. For YouTube, it could be David Dobrik or Mr Beast. For TikTok, even though a relatively newer platform, Charli Damelio is probably one of the names that come to mind. I mean, she was in a super bowl commercial literally 6 months after joining TikTok.
Podcasting has its own figure heads and heavy hitters. From Jordan Harbinger to Joe Rogan, podcasters have been building authentic relationships with audiences for nearly 2 decade. Ever heard of the term, spiritual entrepreneur? It could mean a ton of different things when you really think about it. Perhaps you thought of some meditating, holistic teacher in Bali selling courses on how to make green smoothies. Perhaps you thought of some psychedelic taking business machine who makes deals like they’re in fear and loathing of las Vegas. After speaking with one man however, the true meaning of what a spiritual entrepreneur is became readily apparent to me. It’s someone who's out there chasing impact rather than monetary gain. For anyone who's been in business long enough, this next line will ring true. When you create enough value, impact enough people, the money will come. For Jay, this was always about impact and the journey of spiritual change. We’re joined by Jay Holland, a Christian Pastor in Florida and host of “lets parent on purpose”, one of the top christian parenting podcasts in the world. Jay and I dive into his story, growing his podcast, expanding his impact, and the journey of boy to man. If you’ve ever thought about creating a business that leaves a lasting impact or want your current business to impact more people, this episode is a must listen.

On today’s episode of The Nomadic Executive, we have American entrepreneur, author, filmmaker, Hollywood director, and public speaker Deborah Hutchison. I had the pleasure to meet Deborah in person and really think you’ll enjoy her company as much as I did.
She’s worked as a casting director and or assistant director with numerous film studios including Columbia pictures, Warner brothers, and paramount pictures. Starting off as an extra in the blue brothers film back in 1979, she woke up one day with a mission. After one fated call with someone she calls her angel, she went on to cast for some of the biggest films in Hollywood in the 1980s, including, yes, weird science.
These days she spends her time working on Gutsy Gals, a venture that seeks to empower girls and women to be gutsy by using positive female role models as examples. She’s even given out Gutsy gal awards to leading individuals such as former supermodel Kathy Ireland.

Have you wondered what it would feel like to do purposeful and passion driven work? Work that you look forward to every single day instead of having a job you despise waking up to? As human beings, one of the main characteristics that tie into our core identity and ego is the work we do to build, progress, and/ or make a living for ourselves. This work ends up defining us whether we like it or not.
Well, today’s episode covers exactly this, how you can live a life doing something that helps you flourish instead of wither away. We’re joined by Kathleen Hamilton, a mentor, the head of product, and a board member, at Genius U. Genius U is the number one entrepreneur education platform in the world, with over a million entrepreneurs on the platform and thousands of mentors. Think of it as Udemy, but specifically catered to entrepreneurs. Genius U is actually planning on becoming public company in the near future. What’s even cooler is that Kathleen is the daughter of the founder of Genius U, Roger Hamilton.
Kathleen also runs a Facebook community called “the purposeful remote work community” which has ton of resources on helping you do what you love while making an impact in the world. I have the link to the community in the show notes.
Kathleen is incredibly intelligent and well spoken, I hope you get as much out of the conversation as I did.

Have you ever thought about what it takes to run your own brand? The countless hours of content, marketing, trend watching, and growth hacking. Now imagine doing that while taking classes full time, or traveling the world. Today’s guest has done both.
We’re joined by Christina Voll, a freelancing and digital marketing consultant who has helped brands grow over the past 6 years ago without ever having to step into an office. Join me while we dive into Christina’s entrepreneurial story along with marketing tips and tricks that can help you push your own brand.
Today's Guest
Christina VollChristina helps aspiring freelancers and business owners change their lives with remote work. 6 years ago, she chose to never step foot into an office and continue to never do so.
She has worked as a freelancer and helped over a dozen brands in multiple continents grow their online presence through digital marketing and growth strategy. After 6 years of freelancing and traveling the world, she decided she wanted to take the leap and offer coaching on how to become a successful freelancer, find the freedom of location-independence and achieve remote work success.
During her first year of coaching, she ran into the problem of many change-seekers approaching her with different desired results - some wanted to be an entrepreneur, some an expat in a foreign country, others wanted to score a remote 9-5. She realized I didn’t have the skills to help all of these people at once, so she decided to create a platform and team that could; and Rise Remotely was born.

Today’s interview is a story of adventure. We’re joined by Dave of Global Active Packs. Dave’s on the other side of the world in Australia and has founded an e-commerce startup that revolutionizes the way people move on the go. He got his start as a personal trainer for a number of years before leaving it all behind to head to Africa and work at a wildlife sanctuary as a Safari guide. There, he spent months experimenting in finding the best way to maintain a fit lifestyle. Out of that experience, global active packs was born. Join us while we dive into Dave’s story of adventure and hustle.
Today's Guest
Dave LalieuHaving grown up in Australia (from South African descent), Dave always had a lingering desire to fulfill his childhood dream of living & working in the African bush, it just never felt like a possibility.
No place on Earth gave him the peace of mind & fulfillment than when he was eagerly trying to spot wild African animals or staring in awe at glorious morning game-drive sunrises.
At 21, he decided to stop ignoring this pull to Africa, resigned from my personal training job & left all his loves in Australia to pursue this goal.
Along that journey, Global Active Packs was created, a set of portable and advanced gym equipment that makes it easy to work out on the go.

Today, I’ve got the pleasure of introducing an amazing guest. His name is Forrest Mallard, yes, that’s Forest and mallard like the species of duck. His name suits him well, as he’s been tramping and traveling around the world for the past 15 years on foot. If you don’t know what I mean by tramp, it’s probably not what you think it is. By definition, a tramp is a person who travels from place to place on foot in search of work. From work on broadway to walking the Camino de Santiago, Forrest really has seen the world in a way that most people would never take the chance to. And to top it all off, Forrest has carried a tiny plastic dinosaur with him throughout his journey, which he’s named trampy. Come join me while dive into this hilarious and heartfelt conversation full of incredible entertaining stories.
Today's Guest
Forrest Mallard
In 2005, Forrest moved to Quito, Ecuador with $35 in his pocket and a small handful of online clients. Fifteen years and five continents later, there were moments of absolute glamour, as well as a number of brutal rough patches. But he always felt that a horrible day of travel is infinitely more preferable than a great day at the office.

In this episode, we’re joined by Timea, a world traveling digital marketer and digital nomad who believes that in order to best serve your client and their business, you’ve got to play the part of becoming the business owner yourself. Aside from digital marketing, Timea is an avid Mauy Thai boxer even though she’s pretty tiny. Don’t let her size fool you though, she’s taken men down twice her size.
Today's Guest
Tímea PintyeTimea grew up in Hungary and lived in Budapest until her mid-twenties. After graduation, she started working for Facebook’s marketing agency but couldn’t save enough on a Hungarian salary. One day she decided to leave it all behind, quit her job and moved to London. She managed to find a 9-to-5 office position that paid the bills and allowed her to go on weekend trips – but she wasn’t happy.
In 2017, she took the leap and quit her job. Again. That decision changed her life. She set up her own company doing what she's good at, Social Media Marketing.
Soon enough, her dedication and passion for her work attracted more clients than she could handle. So, she hired her first employee. Then the next. Then the next. Today, she runs a massively successful digital marketing agency.
Besides seeing the world and building her company, she also has another purpose now: helping others to do the same and promote the beauty of diversity.
She travels to places with a bad reputation and ultimately shows them in a more positive and truer light to demolish the prejudices and bring people closer to each other.

In today’s episode we’re joined by a locational independent online entrepreneur named Victoria. After working over 6 years in a startup e-commerce software company that grew from 6 to 160 people, Victoria took a massive leap and left the corporate world to design a life on her own terms through travel and building locational independent businesses. Along the way she created Umami Marketing, a successful digital marketing agency, as well as built Umami Journeys which brings people from all over the world together in intimate, connection based events. Today, Victoria lives a life of freedom and adventure while sticking true to her core values of freedom and flexibility.
Today's Guest
Victoria ChemkoIn 2010, back in Vancouver, and out of pure necessity due to a variety of life events, Victoria decided to find a way to build a business that would allow her to be location independent, and live her core values of freedom and flexibility. From there, Umami Marketing was born in 2011, a boutique virtual digital marketing agency, helping mainly B2B companies in the tech and software sectors grow their online presence.
An explorer at heart, she spent the last 10 years traveling the world while building her business and freedom-filled lifestyle, and wants to share this mindset with others. Thus, she created Umami Journeys.
Traveling to all corners of the globe (40+ countries and counting), Victoria has had the opportunity to design her life and live authentically in her day to day, connecting with others, instead of waiting to do so at a distant point in the future. Her goal is to help others see the possibilities and unleash their potential.
When she‘s not working, you can find Victoria spending most summers in Vancouver enjoying the sunshine on beach volleyball courts, reading multiple books, or savouring a glass of wine over a delicious meal. The rest of the year, you’ll catch her avoiding the rain and working remotely from all (mainly tropical) corners of the globe, continuing to explore, connect, and learn.
