Look at who you have found yourself to be. A black & blank void lurking in the face of borrowed identity. Look what you have found. Look at the evidence of who we really are. Look at the image of the denied divinity of self. As we deny this greatness. As we deny the fact that we are more than just bodies, and bodies are just the vehicles of self.
This installation is about denial. It’s about fright, and open scars. It’s about discovering self and finding that you are more than just a body. You are actually just an open void in which everything around you exists and how scared one gets when they discover the amount of power within self. It’s crazy.
The creative landscape in Durban has been a wonder for most year. It has been undefined, unexplored and largely misinterpreted by those who exist within and outside of it. In this series we will be interviewing different Humans who exist within the creative landscapes of certain cities and we will submerge ourselves in learning more about these landscapes.
Def: Creative landscape- creatives landscapes are locations in which a culture of creativity, innovation and art exist coherently as an economy and culture.
Glitter is the millisecond marvel moment between the Introduction to Self and the Discovery of Self. It’s the glimpse of glitter within oneself as they open the gates to discovering who they actually are. It may be a flash of light, or a sparkle of ideas. It may be that magical moment when you discover you are more than just a body.
In this episode we will be interviewing Mabongwe who allowed herself the glimpse of glitter within her.
