My name is Kelly and this podcast will introduce you to my 90 year old grandmother, Bernie. Bernie has a lot of stories from her 90 years and the most remarkable memory I've ever encountered. Join us as we share what she has seen, heard and learnt over her journey.
Nan and I chatted today about her recent 91st birthday. Join us as Nan recalls her 21st birthday and the celebrations with her family. Oh and Nan drops an F bomb!
Our first episode back after lockdown! We recorded this a few weeks ago, when we could first see each other again. What started off as a discussion about the Peregrine Falcons of Melbourne, turned into something a lot deeper. Listen in as Nan gets real about death and dying and what she thinks is the secret behind a long, happy life.

This episode will introduce you to Harold, Bernie's Dad, my Great Grandfather. A man with a work ethic like no other. It is evident through the tone in Nan's voice how much love she had for her Dad and it was beautiful to listen as she recounted her childhood stories.
Human nature is an extraordinary thing and what you will hear over the next hour is proof of that. This is quite a heavy episode as Bernie recalls what it was like to be a child growing up in the depression. The unimaginable horrors that came with having no money and the treatment received from others. Yet amongst it all was the unwavering love within her family. This won't leave you with a warm feeling but it may leave you a renewed sense of gratitude for what you do have and the times in which we live. I know it certainly did that for me. Sitting beside my Nan as she relived her memories was quite hard and it certainly gave me a huge insight into the woman she became.
