In 2001, Genis traded in his publishing career for a life of crime to feed a raging heroin appetite. His taste for the illegal substance (costing Genis $100 per day) led him to embark on a string of robberies in order to pay his debts.[6] The month-long robbery spree centered around the Lower East Side, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Gramercy Park, and the Financial District.[7] Nicknamed the "apologetic bandit" by the press, Genis offered apologies to his victims as he took their cash and returned their wallets.[8] His 18 robberies accounted for $700 in total.[9]
During one week in 2003, Genis committed five robberies. In November of the same year, he was identified by one of his victims, arrested, and eventually convicted of five counts of armed robbery, for which he served 10 years in prison.[10]

He would be pissed at Netflix but he's making money -- details on the renewed interest in his Jeffery Dahmer comics and more in part one of our talk with horror and true crime pioneer Hart D. Fisher, the man behind AMERICAN HORRORS where you can still see Burl Barer and Don Woldman on True Crime TV.
During the ’90s Hart D. Fisher was dubbed the “most dangerous man in comics” and for good reason. He was constantly fighting against the mainstream corporatization of the comic book industry and wasn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers in the process. He was the man responsible for creating the infamous “Marvel Can Suck My Cock” t-shirt, and his body of work through Boneyard Press consistently pushed the comics medium into an adult art form, before it became acceptable for creators to release anything considered risqué. In fact just last year, Fisher’s “Jeffrey Dahmer: An Unauthorized Biography of a Serial Killer” ranked #3 on Bloody-Disgusting’s list of “Top 10 Legitimately Terrifying Horror Comics”. Fisher’s impact on the world of horror comics can still be felt in some of the books being produced today.
Fisher’s passion for the horror genre has only grown stronger since his departure from the comic book world. For the past few years, Fisher has been focused on developing and expanding his 24 hour uncut horror channel American Horrors, which is currently broadcast for free online.

Alane Ferguson was born in Cumberland, Maryland. She attended the University of Utah and Westminster College where she studied journalism. Alane has written over thirty books and is currently completing her most intense and autobiographical book yet, DRAGONFLY EYES, the first in her latest paranormal trilogy.

Henry Louis Wallace terrorized Charlotte, North Carolina, from May 1992 to March 1994.
Wallace preyed on lower economic class Black women between 17 and 35 years old. He knew most of his victims, some through his job at Taco Bell, and gained their trust with his friendly demeanor and gentle nature—concealing a monster fueled by drug abuse and rage against women.
A rarity in that he was an African American serial killer, his murderous rampage spurred controversy throughout the city. Community members accused local police of ignoring the murders because of the victims' race. Wallace attended the funerals of many of his victims and offered condolences to families. The ensuing investigation became the largest in North Carolina’s history.

Kenneth Eurell is a former New York City Police Department police officer and associate of the Adam Diaz drug organization La Compania was arrested for running a drug ring out of Suffolk County, Long Island. The charges were upgraded to RICO in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Eurell cooperated with federal authorities in the arrests of his former partner Michael Dowd and drug associates. He is a subject of the 2014 documentary film The Seven Five directed by Tiller Russell and produced by Eli Holzman.
David Lohr is an American journalist. Lohr has written about and interviewed many of the world's most notorious criminals. Lohr gained national prominence in 2003 when Wichita, Kansas serial killer Dennis Rader, wrote letters to news outlets. One of his letters included a list of book chapters titled "The BTK Story" that were similar to a list of book chapters about BTK's crimes written by Lohr. This was among information that led to the arrest and eventual confession and conviction of Rader for the killing of 10 people between 1974 and 1991.

After three books that have kept readers on the edge of their seats, in April, 2020, Jon again changed genres with As Long As I Have Lips…a romantic comedy set amid the advertising and cosmetic industries, and the attraction older women have of younger men. In December of that same year, he released the drama Rubdown, a story of innocence, sex, betrayal, romance, trust, murder and secret identities.
What does the future hold?
One thing’s for sure, Jon’s already writing the next book, and the odds are good that it won’t resemble any genre he’s previously given to the public.
In the meantime, Jon’s currently waiting for the check that’s supposedly in the mail...and listens to rock & roll music all the time.

Best-selling author Frank C. Girardot has been called the "Demon dog of true crime" by none other than Black Dahlia author James Ellroy. Born in Texas in 1960, Richard Ramirez was an American serial killer who killed at least 14 people and raped and tortured at least two dozen more, mostly during the spring and summer of 1985. After developing epilepsy as a child, he became a heavy drug user and cultivated an interest in Satanism, which became a calling card for investigators at his crime scenes. Apprehended in August 1985, Ramirez was sentenced to death at the conclusion of his trial in 1989. He spent the remainder of his days at California's San Quentin Prison, before dying from cancer on June 7, 2013, at age 53.

Thomas Bartlett "Bart" Whitaker arranged with two friends to kill his parents and younger brother Kevin. The much-indulged son of a well-to-do family, he resented the fact that his cousins would inherit the family business. And he was tired of waiting for his "share". Knowing that his parents were heavily insured and that their assets were significant, he cold-bloodedly arranged for them to be murdered.
To deflect suspicion away from himself, he instructed his henchmen to make the murders look like an interrupted burglary. He scheduled the murders on the night that the family was having a celebratory dinner at an expensive local restaurant. Believing that their son was soon to graduate from college, the proud parents presented him with a $4,000 watch to express their pride in him. When the family arrived home, all four were shot. The plan was for the parents and Kevin to die and for Bart to be slightly injured.
But Bart's young friend wasn't a professional. He killed Tricia and Kevin Whitaker, but only wounded Kent Whitaker. Mistake #1. And the rifling of the house that was supposed to make it look like a burglary was poorly done, looking like the fake job it was. Mistake #2. When the police started looking suspiciously at Bart Whitaker he bolted for Mexico and hid out there until the man whom he had paid to get him there turned him into the police and collected the reward. Mistake #3. Three strikes and you're out, even with relatives as naive and gullible as the Whitaker/Bartlett family.
On the scene how the press covered the trial of Jodi Arias - Police found the motivational speaker brutally murdered in his Mesa, Arizona home on June 9, 2008. His body, five days decomposed, had been stabbed 27 times, with an ear-to-ear slash across his throat and a bullet to the head.

Vincent van Gogh was not as he seems. In 1888, at the age of 35, he was looking for something unique in art for the upcoming exhibition at the 1889 World’s Fair. He found that uniqueness in murder. He created the persona of Jack the Ripper over that summer and then reaped the power that came from murder when he traveled to London over the autumn to kill again and again as Jack the Ripper.
But Van Gogh was a murderer long before he became Jack the Ripper. He made his first kill fifteen years earlier at the age of 20 when he was transferred from The Hague, Holland to London in May of 1873, by Goupil’s, the art dealer he worked for.
It was believed Vincent first lived in the Battersea area in the S.E. district. He then moved to the nearby Brixton area in August, and on September 5, just five days before his mother’s September 10 birthday, the body parts of an unidentified woman were found floating in the River Thames. Vincent had moved and then had murdered.
Nine months later, in the midst of being rejected by his landlady’s 19-year-old daughter, Vincent murdered again, and the lower half of a woman’s body was found in the Thames.
Over the years, Van Gogh gave up on being an art dealer to be a preacher like his father, but when he failed at that, he turned to becoming a painter. His younger brother, Theo, then supported him financially for the last ten years of his life. Vincent moved back home to Holland but was thrown out by his father due to his contentious attitude. Then in 1885, after Vincent had returned to again live under his father’s roof, his preacher father was found dead on the threshold of his home one fine Sunday afternoon.
Vincent’s sisters and others blamed him indirectly for their father’s sudden death because of the unrelenting arguing and trouble he had caused, but I believe the evidence shows Vincent was more directly responsible for his father’s death, and that, in fact, he laid hands on his preacher father and killed him. He was a serial killer, after all.
Vincent then moved in with Theo in Paris in 1886, but there was a problem. Theo had an ex-girlfriend living in his apartment that he wanted out, and during a time when Theo returned to Holland for a visit, the body parts of a woman were found deposited in street urinals in Paris. Vincent had solved Theo’s problem. Vincent also traveled from Paris to London in 1887 for another murder, and a woman’s body parts were again found in the Thames.
It was then in 1888 that Vincent moved to the South of France for something new in art and discovered that it was murder that would give him the power he needed for his paintings. He made several trips back to London from August to December and murdered seven women under the guise of his created persona, Jack the Ripper. He also killed another during this same time as himself, using his old method, making the total he killed in the year of the eights to be 8.
After cutting off his ear at the end of 1888, Vincent was in and out of the hospital and was then committed to an asylum at his own request, where he then worked on the asylum director to obtain freedom to go out into the country to paint for days at a time. Once he had obtained his freedom, he used it to travel back to London, and he killed three more in 1889.
Vincent’s final murder was his own. He shot himself in the stomach soon after he had moved closer to Paris, and he then died on July 29, 1890. His brother, Theo, then lost his mind from grief and guilt and died six months later.

In January 1994, Eileen Tessier told Jack McCullough's half-sister Janet Tessier that he, her son, kidnapped 7-year-old Maria Ridulph from their neighborhood in Sycamore, Illinois and killed her in December 1957. It was a case that tore the child’s family apart, as well as dividing and terrifying the town as the days, then the months, and finally the years passed with no arrest.
In 2008 the Illinois State police reopened the case against Jack after receiving an email from Janet Tessier about their mother's deathbed confession. After the Illinois State police interviewed Janet and learned that Jack had also been accused of raping their other sister, Jeanne Tessier, they reopened the case. But would reopening the case solve the question of who killed Maria Ridulph? And was McCullough the killer?

Highlights of my career include getting tear gassed while covering the anti-Vietnam War riots in 1970 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; doing a 40-minute, one-on-one radio interview with Alfred Hitchcock in 1973 during my stint in the Army at the American Forces Network (AFN)-Europe; and covering the White House for CBN News during the last three years of Ronald Reagan's presidency.
In 1988, I joined CNN as a writer. From 2001 to 2005, I supervised the writing on "Daybreak" anchored by Carol Costello. From 2005 to 2013, I was a Senior Copy Editor on "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer." In March of 2013 I retired from CNN after 25 years with the network. I now write full time.
I grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin and earned a BA in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1977).
The name DeDakis first appeared in the Chicago phone book about 1915 as a typographical error. My grandfather, who had just immigrated from Greece, felt the accidental capitalization of the second D made the name look more "dignified" so, Dedakis became DeDakis.
