In the final hours of His life, Jesus spoke seven powerful statements from the cross—words that reveal the heart of God in the middle of suffering. Each statement carries deep meaning about forgiveness, salvation, compassion, surrender, and the finished work of Christ.
In this series, we will slow down and listen closely to the words Jesus spoke as He gave His life for the world. These statements not only help us understand the significance of the cross, but they also show us how the love of Jesus meets us in our deepest needs.

Sabbath Sunday is our online only service filled with great worship and teaching for Sunday, December 29th 2024. Our vision for this Sunday is to give our staff and volunteers a Sunday to rest and for our church to enjoy this online service wherever they may be for the holiday season. This Sunday's teaching is from John 7:37-39 focusing on the "rivers of living water" Jesus promised through the Holy Spirit to all who believe in Him. Growing up in midst of an unstable Rwandan government, Alex Nsengimana experienced first-hand the travesties of his nation’s genocide. At the height of tribal unrest, the genocide claimed the lives of his caregivers. Fleeing for his life, Alex escaped gunmen and eventually ended up in an orphanage that was his home for the next several years. He received a shoebox from Operation Christmas Child one year after arriving at the orphanage and remembers being so excited to have a gift to call his own. The shoebox gift sowed seeds of hope and love that he desperately needed. He realized that God had a specific plan for his life. Alex now serves with Operation Christmas Child paying forward the hope and love he received through a shoebox gift. We are so thankful for Alex sharing his testimony with Anthem Chapel!

Philippians 1:21-26 begins with a powerful statement from Paul: "For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." In this message, Pastor Nate teaches about the three things that Paul shows us about death: that it is a departure, an encounter, and far better. Paul has a deep desire to be with Jesus, but expresses a willingness to delay his departure, knowing that he is living for a purpose. Pastor Nate encourages us to remember that as long as we are still breathing, God is still working.

Pastor Nate unpacks 3 key parts of Philippians 1:3-8: affection, association and assurance. Through these things, we are able to have true gospel community. Paul is filled with great love for this church in Philippi, and is honored to be in fellowship and partnership with them, despite the brutal experience he has been enduring in prison. Paul also reminds the church that there is a good work happening in us, and that it is God's work, which He promises to complete in us.

This first chapter of Philippians uses the name of Jesus more than any other chapter in the Bible. Philippians is a book about progress, and becoming just like Jesus. Although we can think of Christmas in terms of joyful and peaceful tradition, the reality of Christmas was that Jesus' birth was in the middle of a mix of unforeseen circumstances and an undesirable location to give birth. In the same way, Jesus comes into the mess of our lives to rescue and redeem us.
Joshua fails to consult the Lord regarding the Gibeonites and is deceived into making a covenant with them. The Lord, however, takes this mistake and uses it for good.
Joshua faces a rematch after his first defeat at Ai. God brings victory from the ashes of defeat.
Achan troubles Israel after their triumph at Jericho by taking from the spoils. Sin infects the camp as Joshua and his army lose at Ai. Achan is found out and pays a severe penalty for his actions. However, God shows us through Achan that failure is not forever and there is always a door of hope for what troubles us.
We find that in Joshua chapter six that it was only the Lord that gave Jericho into the hand of the Israelites. The conquest of Jericho teaches us important lessons on waiting on the Lord and following His lead. Just as in Jericho, our battle belongs to the Lord!
