In this episode, Ashley shares her testimony of overcoming severe anxiety and depression. A journey that included help from doctors and medication.

There’s a lot of debate and questions circulating the internet about whether or not Christians should use tools like medication and therapy. BUT I have never heard what Ashley shares in this episode.

I believe the way she humbly and gently clarifies what her process looked like is going to set you free.

I know that this is a very divisive topic because people carry a lot of pain on both sides of the debate. Maybe you’ve been hurt, misinformed, or made to feel inferior by one group or another because of whatever decision you made.

Shame, condemnation, and inferiority are not your inheritance in Christ. You do not have to live with any of that any longer.

My prayer is this episode reminds you of your power and position in Christ.

We’re beginning this season with worship.

I’ve commissioned Paul Timothy Michell, an anointed worship leader and composer, to write a soaking soundtrack for being with our Prince of Peace.

I invite you to use this 90 minute instrumental track for...

In this episode I share a familiar story from John 5 that I am seeing through fresh eyes.

When it comes to the promises of God, I want them all instantly. But God wants them for us permanently. So in His kindness He made us one with Jesus.

There is a permanence to our newness because we are now permanently **one with Christ. And so all of life here on earth is about discovering and experiencing who we actually are in Him. And it goes beyond just a one-time result or outcome — it’s a continuous overcoming in every arena of life.

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed IN us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be REVEALED.” [Romans 8:18-29]

God’s dream for humanity is unfolding IN His sons and daughters — that’s you and me!

We are NEW creations.

We are ONE with Jesus Christ.

We are being TRANSFORMED into God’s image with EVER-INCREASING glory.

Don’t forget who you are. BELIEVE who you are.

It’s time to reveal the eternal to the temporary.

We were not called to live a Christian life, we were given a life to live IN Christ.

This is not a life with a Christian badge on it (that’s religion). It’s SO much better!

This is not a life we can earn by loving God more, it’s a life He freely gave us because of His love for us.

It’s time we rest in God’s affection for us and live the life Jesus died for us to have.

What’s true about Jesus is true about you.

We are living in a victory He won so we can’t lose.

As a daughter of God who is one with Christ and filled with His spirit, I’ve decided I’m not going to settle for judgement when I’ve been promised the fullness of His joy.

My head is not buried in the sand. My eyes are fixed on Jesus. In order to carry His redemptive perspective, I’ve got to let go of some heavy things.

I think one of the biggest cons the enemy ever pulled off was to convince us to focus on outward behaviors instead of focusing on Christ living inside of us.

Religion masquerades as God and promises us an identity in its rules and rituals. But when the religious structures inevitably change or break down, we are left feeling abandoned and alone.

But it’s time we are true to the Truth. It time for us to be our new creation selves!

You don't have to chase after peace.

You're in a relationship with the Prince of Peace.

Nothing in the universe has the power to diminish God's Presence in you. Not your difficulties… nor your disappointments... not any circumstance.

Overcoming anxiety didn't happen because I initiated a relationship with God. The overcoming took place as I discovered the relationship with God that was already there. It's a relationship that God initiated, not me.

It's already there! Because of Jesus we have full access to the Promise Giver and Promise Keeper. We just may not have awareness...yet. But the Christian life is a journey into greater awareness — glory to glory!

That's what Season 7 is going to be all about.

My excuses for not "rejoicing always" haven’t just been circumstantial. I used to let my natural personality dictate my worship by saying things like, “Oh, I’m an introvert,” or “I’m not really an emotional person."

But, worship is designed to take you out of this natural world and make you fully aware of your Kingdom reality.

Do you come to God guarded? Do you struggle to rejoice?

Maybe like me, you have also tried to excuse yourself out of fully engaging in worship by telling God, “This is not how you made me."

The Lord says, “In worship, I’m making you like Me.”

There’s no such thing as "toxic positivity" in the Kingdom of God, there is only the joy of the Lord.

And it’s a joy that strengthens us, not poisons us.

[The correct scripture reference mentioned at 5:03 is 2 Corinthians 1:20]

I used to think rescue was breakthrough.

I used to think rescue and relief would be the things to transform me, instead of relying on the transformative relationship I have with God. And through the lens of these wrong beliefs, I viewed the Secret Place as merely a place of escape. Living by those wrong beliefs made me powerless and ineffective in the world because I was always living for a way out. But Jesus didn’t die to just rescue us over and over again, and He didn’t die for us to live a life here on earth from which we would want constant escape.

He died to give us a life of His lasting victory.

We live in a world that believes the self-achievement of performance is the real source of power. That's why "self-empowerment" is such a popular topic.

But we are people of the Kingdom who know the truth and it has set us free! The truth is intimacy with God is the real source of power.

Good news! You are not powerless.

“Oh, the Lord must be teaching me patience.”

I've said that many times before in an attempt to absorb frustration. Let me tell you from experience what happens with you absorb frustration — eventually you explode with frustration.

That's not how patience works.

Here’s the thing, when we give the power of definition over to the world, it distorts and diminishes the truth in our hearts and minds.

I'm renewing my mind about patience these days. I'm thinking differently, and practicing patience as someone who is in this world, but not of it.

You and I are not running out of patience, because it's not a limited resource, it's the endless nature of God.

As humans, we're very good at remembering our pasts. Past pains, hurts, disappointments, regrets, and sins...not just ours, but past sins of others as well.

We often choose to feed on our faithlessness instead on God's faithfulness.

This only keeps past failures present in our hearts and minds, and guarantees future bondage and brokenness because we’re taking it with us into each new day.

But what would happen if we fed only on God's faithfulness?

Everything God is, He is relentlessly. God is ALWAYS going to be love. ALWAYS gentle. ALWAYS patient. ALWAYS kind.

He is consistent, constant, unceasing, firm in His promise, and can be trusted at all times.

He has not dropped His kindness all the sudden just because of how the world is acting.

He has not forfeited His peace just because the circumstances have gotten chaotic.

He has not disregarded His goodness towards you, just because people have not been good...or you have not been good.

We can be at rest, knowing that it’s HIS faithfulness that is meant to be our focus… not our own...not another person’s.

We often preach, teach, and think about the devastating effects the works of the flesh has on us and our world.

But have you ever considered the effects the fruit of the Spirit has on our real enemy, satan?

Did you know you can exhaust him with your love for people?

You can depress him with your joy.

You can intimidate him with your intimacy with God.

You can paralyze him with compassion.

Everything the enemy seeks to bring against us can be turned around by moving in the opposite spirit.

When we move in God's nature, we put satan in his proper place - under our feet.

This is true Kingdom vengeance.

The call to repentance is a delightful one. It's not about demanding an apology, it's an invitation to be transformed!

Romans 2:4 tells us that it is God’s kindness that leads us to repentance.

Paul warns in Romans 2:4 to not despise the riches of God's kindness, His goodness.

When we are overwhelmed by the goodness of God towards us, we become a strong force of goodness in the world around us.

We become His glory on display.

I saved my favorite clip from my recent conversation with Graham Cooke for this final episode of Season 1 because it captures the heartbeat of Posture.

15 weeks ago, I dove heart first into creating a daily podcast called "Posture" because I had a vision for our future that I couldn't shake. I saw our generation (not a specific age group, but all of us living and breathing for such a time as this) breaking off the chokehold of powerlessness as we pulled back from perfectionism and performance and took a posture of perfect peace.

Do you see it, too?

Jesus deserves it.

He deserves to get what He paid for you to have.

And He will get it. I know He will. Because His people are rising all over the world and displaying His splendor.

As you rise and shine in your own sphere of influence, Posture will be here reminding you of the fullness of Jesus's wholeness in you.

I'm cheering you on!

I'm so thankful for you!

What does the end of Season 1 mean? Just that I'll be taking a short break from posting daily episodes over the next 2 weeks.

Season 2 will premiere on Monday, June 15th. Get ready!

At the root of every anxiety is an accusation -- “You are not completely loved by God.”

For years, I struggled to completely believe that I was completely loved. I strived for more love from God by trying to be more and do more.

Jesus had a brilliant conversation with the Pharisees in John 8 that gives us all the permission we need to be our authentic selves.

The problem is that many of us don’t know who we are. Often the brokenness we face seems more authentic to us than the wholeness God promised us.

For years, I was quick to identify with my ever-changing issues, but slow to identify with what my never-changing God calls me.

In this episode I share a conversation I had with God that changed everything and set me free to be me.

This episode is a bit raw, but after attempting to re-record it several times, I realized my tears represented the very truth of the message.

Even in loss and grief, we have the victory banner Jesus gave us to wave in the enemy’s face.

I’m waving that victory banner high today.

I’ve had a strong prompting to remind you every day this week that you are a restorer. You and I have been empowered by Jesus to bring the wholeness of heaven to a broken world.

It’s not all up to you, it’s who He is in you.

Today is not a test to see how thinly you can spread yourself to solve all the world’s problems. Today is an invitation to exchange all you think you lack for the fullness of Jesus.

Opposition from other people used to be devastating for me. I wanted to get along with everyone! I wanted to be liked by everyone. I used to confuse people’s approval with God’s approval. That is a horrible way to live.

“Your people will rebuild long-deserted ruins, building anew on foundations laid long before you. You will be known as Repairers of the Cities and Restorers of Communities.” [Isaiah 58:12]

There is a reason loss and injustice affect us so deeply. We are moved not just by our own pain, but often by the painful experiences of others. It’s because we have experienced a better word, a better way -- The Word and The Way named Jesus Christ.

Your life is now concealed in Him [Colossians 3:3]. Though your enemy, satan, can’t take you out of Christ, he can convince you that your position in Christ makes no difference to the world around you. Oh, but it does!

The fullness of joy takes up space in our hearts and minds. It expands our capacity as it expands within us.

Your enemy knows this.

Which is why our joy, much like our peace, is often under attack. satan can’t actually touch our joy because he can’t empty any fullness of Christ -- he can’t undo the work of Jesus. Instead, he tries to diminish the power of joy in our eyes, so that we don’t see it for what it actually is -- a powerful force that strengthens us.

I’m so captivated by the promise and possibility of FULL joy because often my joy has felt fragmented, like it’s pieced together by good things happening but so often disrupted by negativity.

Something that used to disrupt my joy and my peace the most was relational conflict. If I wasn’t at peace with people, I felt like I couldn’t be at peace at all.

In today’s episode I share a testimony of joy and peace rising in me not from resolution of the conflict but from a revelation of who God is for us in the midst of our conflicts.

It’s more than a title, it’s the mandate of every believer.

Christ is in us.

This truth is our starting point in every situation we will ever face. We are not striving to get through the struggle so then we can have Christ. We have Christ to get us through the struggle.

The lie of isolation isolates us from the truth. This is why the self-empowerment movement is so popular -- too many of us are out there believing we have been left alone, therefore, we have to be our own hero.

God challenged me on my own unbelief, “Lindsay, why do you believe you have a Savior for your eternity but you struggle to believe you have Savior for the suffering you’re facing today?

But now I know the silence is an invitation to step from all the noise, chaos, and confusion coming from whatever situation I’m needing to pray about and enter into my secret place with my divine prayer team -- Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

I now anticipate the silence. It’s not a point of dread or frustration for me anymore because I now know His Presence is just as transformative as His voice.

True confession: I’ve found myself in this season starting to feel weighed down by all the prayer requests coming at me.

I realized it was because all my prayers were a reaction to the problems being presented to me instead of a response to the Answer who is already present.

You and I have a divine prayer team -- Jesus and the Holy Spirit -- who are praying for us and with us.

With this truth planted in my heart, my devotional life has shifted from just praying for an answer to praying with the Answer.

In an unprecedented time there’s an opportunity to experience God in an unprecedented way.

...the doors were locked where the disciples were because of their fear… [John 20:19]

In this episode I’m sharing a moment in our history that I come back to often -- especially on days when my expectations have been blown and I’m tempted to stop expecting God’s goodness in my life.

Jesus comes straight through the doors that fear locks,

He gives us His peace,

shows off the impossible made possible,

commissions us with a victorious life,

and breathes His very Spirit into us.

The disciples wanted rescue, but Jesus was offering something far better -- a resurrected life and residence in Him.

Jesus does not change and Jesus isn’t changing His mind about you.

1 John 4:17 says all that Jesus is, so are we in this world.

We have been given His righteousness, His peace, His power, His victory, His Spirit and all of His characteristics.

We also can be as unchanging as Him -- not tossed around by circumstances, suffering, other people’s opinions, or sin.

We can always be at peace and at rest like Jesus.

1 John 2 tells us it’s not the full truth to just talk about the truth — we can and should actually live it.

Every requirement of the old covenant was met through Jesus’s death, and through Jesus’s resurrection we received His empowering Presence to live in His fullness.

That means that every command and promise we come across in scripture should not cause us dread of missing the mark, but be seen as an invitation for upgrade.

Do you believe what God believes about you?

God isn’t dealing with your sin anymore because Jesus already completely dealt with it through the cross. Instead, God is focused on leading the new you into the fullness of all you inherited in Christ.

So, why does it sometimes feel like you are still struggling with our old sinful self?

Because sin is a memory. It’s a habit you developed when you were lost and without hope.

But now that you are dead to sin and alive in Christ, it’s time to unlearn what your old nature taught you and make new memories as the new you.

We don’t have to face pain like the world does, but we still need to face it.

I used to ignore pain and refuse to grieve because I believed it lacked faith. I also believed that if I acknowledged pain, I would get stuck in it forever. But the Holy Spirit led me to Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

I realized that it actually lacks faith to ignore pain because it implies that what I really believe is that God can’t heal me from it.

We know from Isaiah 26:3 that the promise of perfect peace (which we all need right now) rests on trust in God.

But you can’t trust someone you don’t know.

With my routine violated by this pandemic, I made a shocking discovery -- I had been trusting in my rituals to be the things that transform me instead of God’s very presence.

The rituals may have helped me get to know more about God, but in His presence I get to know Him more.

I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all formula for building a friendship with God because we’re all unique individuals (He made us that way). I believe He connects in unique ways with each of us, and often it’s never through just one way but many ways that God reveals more of Himself to us.

In this episode I share a creative way God speaks to us.

We don’t expect our human relationships to flourish through only head knowledge — only knowing about each other — so why would we expect our relationship with God to flourish like that?

I used to only seek to know more about God as if He were a divine specimen to be studied instead of seeking to know God more as a true friend.

In the midst of so much unknown right now, we can have perfect peace in knowing His nature, hearing His voice, and experiencing His presence.

Every plan the enemy set up to take you out was nailed to the cross with Jesus. Jesus rose again, the power of sin did not.

Whenever tragedy strikes, accusations tend to arise saying it’s God’s judgement on us.

But that belief actually implies something horrendous about Jesus -- that He wasn’t enough.

There is nothing you can do to chip away or add to the finished work Jesus did through the cross.

Our Christian lives are not about striving to quench God’s wrath, but being receptive of the love He has freely given to us.

Jesus’s resurrection is your resurrection too. Leave your anxiety nailed to the cross and take on His total victory today.

It’s very expensive for satan when he messes with us. According to Romans 5, the more he tries to take us out the stronger we get.

This is why Romans 5 invites us to actually rejoice in the midst of our suffering, because we know it produces strength within us, and that strength only proves our identity, and that proven identity leads us to hope -- a hope that does not put us to shame.

But our enemy is put to shame by our hope.

I believe that our faith-filled response to this pandemic is running hell dry. The people of God are only strengthening while our enemy is being depleted.

Imagine what the world is going to be like on the other side of this pandemic with a depleted enemy and a strong, proven, hope-filled Kingdom people.

Whether it’s good change or bad change -- all change is hard because it takes away what is familiar to us.

This time last year my husband and I were in a season of rapid change -- some good changes and some of it was just absolutely terrible.

In the midst of a lot of unknown circumstances, we decided to rebrand our “season of transition” to align with what we did know about our God.

We were totally transformed. Some of the things that were our biggest dread last year actually propelled us into our greatest dreams.

That’s the kind of God we serve.

Have difficult seasons made it difficult for you to fully embrace the promises of God?

I used to think that God’s word was hard to understand and believe. But now I realize that those thoughts were not my thoughts because 1 Corinthians 2:16 says I have the mind of Christ, and Jesus would never think that way about His own promises.

The rich abundance of God’s promises doesn’t offend me, it offends the lack in my life.

What if the doubt...the confusion...the distance you’re feeling towards God’s promises is actually just suffering trying desperately to survive?

The good news is that trials and suffering, though they deplete the world, actually produce abundance in the people of God.

King David wrote during a very unstable time in his life, “But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” [Psalm 3:3]

We don’t have to wait for circumstances to change in order to be at peace, to have joy, or to be comforted.

When the details surrounding our lives seem to be spinning completely out of our control, we still have a mighty God surrounding us like a shield.

Today, who or what will lift your head? What will you allow to grab your attention... to have your focus...to gain your trust?

The sons of Korah wrote,

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way…” [Psalm 46:1-2]

For the sons of Korah this wasn’t a poetic description, it was a literal declaration based on their heritage.

These people of praise did not hold in reverence the trauma of their past because they were fully captivated by their Refuge.

They knew that even if the events of their past happened again, they had a very present help and a glorious future.

“And David was greatly distressed...But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” [1 Samuel 30:6]

Maybe “staying strong” in the midst of a crisis isn’t always humanly possible, but it is always supernaturally possible.

How did David strengthen himself in the Lord?

Through the Psalms we get great insight into how David engaged with the Lord.

This episode is for my fellow warriors. If you've got some fight in you (even a smidge) and you're feeling stirred by what is happening in our world right now, this is for you.

Caleb never denied the details of the bad report the 10 other spies brought to the people of God. Yes, there were giants that posed a threat, but Caleb reported, “We are well able to overcome it.” [Numbers 13]

He partnered with the promise not the problems.

You and I have been born for such a time as this. As Kingdom people we are empowered to possess the promises God has given our generation -- no matter the giants in our land.

We are well able to demolish anything that sets itself up against the knowledge of God (including viruses, fear, and panic).

If you are afraid, I want you to know that there is abundant love and grace for you to rest in today.

In your most vulnerable state, the Lord promises to be near to you [Psalm 34].

The Lord does not come close to reprimand you for your fears, He comes close to rescue you from them.

Perfect love casts out fear [1 John 4:18].

I have been most afraid when I have believed I was most unloved.

Too often I have allowed fear to question God’s love for me, instead of letting God’s love for me put my fears into question.

You don’t become less afraid by denying that you have problems. You become unafraid when you become fully convinced those problems won’t have you.

"Fear is faith pointed in the wrong direction.”

This week we have been practicing possibility. In an unpredictable world, practicing possibility can be perverted into fixating on worst case scenarios.

Years ago when I was in the chokehold of anxiety, I anchored myself to God’s Word by pointing every fear in the direction of truth. At first, it didn’t feel like it was making any difference, but Hebrews 4:12 says “For the word of God is alive and active…”

Don’t buy the lie that reading, speaking, and sharing scripture is trite or inconsequential.

God’s word in our mouths activates life and light in a world threatening to go dark.

And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you. [Romans 8:11]

God is eager to partner with you in taking ground, and often it’s the ground right beneath your feet.

Today we’re going to practice possibility together by asking this question: If God is in me, and I am here, then God is here. If God is here, what is possible?

I felt prompted to scrap my original plan for this episode and instead share with you something I am currently walking with the Lord in overcoming.

Travel has become a trigger for me because of some painful memories. Anxiety stole my enjoyment of travel and my heart for adventure.

I brought this to the Lord recently because I have travel coming up and I heard Him say, “Linds, you decide what triggers you.”

As Kingdom people you and I have the authority to decide who or what we will be moved by.

Maybe travel isn't your trigger. Are you triggered by a certain person, place, or thing? Today, instead of leaning into the anxiety, anger, frustration or despair, lean on the Lord. He is more worthy of your trust than any trigger.

Has it ever occurred to you that God takes it personally when satan attacks you? After all, don’t you take it personally when someone you loved is attacked?

We are often even moved by compassion to help alleviate the suffering of people we don’t know through fundraisers, disaster relief, and community service.

You and I are not more compassionate than God.

Jesus didn’t promise us a life of ease, but He did promise us a life of peace and victory.

I have most definitely prayed this prayer (recently), “God, if You’re good, why is my life so hard?”

I had gotten stuck expecting ease in my life to prove to me God’s goodness instead of His goodness being proven by His perfect peace in my life.

I’d rather have peace.

Chasing after ease will only strip us of our courage, the joy of adventure, and any desire to live big lives. But peace, especially in difficulty, emboldens us to fully embrace the abundant life Jesus promised.

Disappointment should never be ignored, it should always be confronted with the truth of God’s word.

Often the disappointments of life make us feel unsafe.

In this episode I share a story about when I realized I was seeking safety from my home instead of from Safety Himself.

It’s actually difficult to notice such a deviation in times of comfort. But it usually becomes very apparent during seasons of waiting and delay, or times of lack and suffering.

The good news is that you and I always have a Safe Place.

A lot of my prayers to God used to center around just wanting my life to be “normal.” I mistakenly thought that a fulfilling life was one where everything was normal by worldly standards.

But as Kingdom people you and I have been given a divine privilege to redefine and redeem “normal.”

What is normal to the world is actually backwards in the Kingdom.

For many years, I was caught up in grieving the “normal” my life was lacking while all along Jesus was offering me a life overflowing with His fullness -- a life that was so much more than I could ever ask for.

A couple of years ago God whispered to me, “You think celebration is extra, but I’ve deemed it essential”

Since that moment I’ve been on this amazingly sweet journey with the Lord discovering the immense power and the divine privilege of celebration.

Celebration is not an invention of humans, it is an intention of God. We see proof of this all throughout scripture.

Celebration is an expression of thanksgiving. Celebration is agreement. When you celebrate you align yourself with heaven and send the enemy a message -- “You can’t touch me.”

Has it ever occurred to you that satan has no patience?

Patience is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, not the evil spirit. Your enemy has no ability to “wait it out” and he has very limited resources. Meanwhile, you have access to heaven’s unlimited resources.

There are going to be days (maybe it’s today?) when there will be a gap between the truth of God’s Word and the facts of your circumstances.

It’s tempting to try to fill the gap with things like doubt, bad theology, anger towards God or people, panic, worry, fear…

Instead of trying to fill the gap, ask yourself this -- “Has God ever come up short?”

Last year God told me, “Linds, you’ve got to laugh more.” I thought He was joking.

You see, my life at the time was anything but laughable and I had developed this serious, stoic nature in order to cope. After all, being joyful in the midst of negativity just felt to me like living in denial.

Proverbs 17:22 says, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

I’ve discovered that laughter actually doesn’t keep me in denial of negative circumstances, but it does deny those negative circumstances from having an effect on me. Just like a good medicine.

Are you familiar with the promise that says, “God’s love endures forever?”

I used to translate that promise to mean “God’s love tolerates me forever.”

This warped translation came from viewing God’s love for me through the lens of my experience with human love.

But I had it all backwards.

What if ... instead of your circumstances and human relationships informing you about God’s love for you, you let God’s enduring love for you be what informs you about your circumstances and relationships?

I used to have a tendency to trust God with the monumental (like my eternal salvation), but struggle to surrender to Him the mundane (like the details of my day).

I felt solely responsible for my daily life, so I leaned hard on my plans, my expectations, and my routines to uphold me.

But Psalm 54:4 says, “God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.”

With this revelation comes an invitation to do life differently.

Sometimes I become so familiar with a promise from God’s word that I no longer familiarize myself with it -- meaning I no longer seek to gain a deeper understanding.

Lamentations 3:21 -23 says, “But this I call to mind — therefore I have hope. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning…”

When is the last time you called to mind -- thought deeply about -- the truth that God’s mercies are fresh every morning?

Hebrews 10:35 says, “Do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.”

This isn't talking about self-inspired confidence, but a confidence resting in Jesus’s finished work on the cross and our identities in Christ.

I used to pray a very dumb prayer that I thought was super spiritual, but it was actually throwing away this confidence.

I’ve got good news for you today -- “You don’t belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.” [Hebrews 10:36]

1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear..."

I believe that at the root of every fear, worry, and anxiety is an accusation. It may be an accusation against yourself, against another, or even God. Often we deal with accusation in our lives by trying to be more lovable, or by even trying to perfect our love for God, people, and ourselves.

We try to behave so that we can belong.

But only God has the ability to love perfectly. Scripture reminds us that God is Love, and we belong to Love.

Today, instead of expelling all our energy trying to be perfect, let's rest in God's perfect love and embrace this truth: We belong to God, so fear doesn't belong to us.

Unfortunately, the world has pushed hope into the same category as wishful thinking. It’s made to seem more like fairy dust and less like a powerful supernatural force.

But scripture reassures us that hope is not a flimsy thing.

Both hope and hopelessness are directional -- they lead us somewhere.

Where are you going to be led today?

Has confusion or a lack of clarity kept you from moving forward?

Recently, I found myself in a state of overwhelm and I was struggling to find clarity on what next steps I should take.

My mentor Pedro pointed out that I don't serve a God of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). If God isn't the author confusion, who is "authorizing" it?

Perhaps, what you think is confusion is something entirely different instead.

What would be possible today if you had perfect peace?

Jesus said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

I used to never even consider the possibilities of peace because I used to believe that often peace wasn’t possible.

Does peace seem possible to you today?

Jesus was always at peace, even in the midst of a violent storm.

The circumstances changing isn’t what brought Jesus peace, Jesus at peace changed the circumstances.

Being at peace allows you to see what's possible.

Jesus said, “I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!" (John 14:27)

So I prayed, “Jesus, if you gave me your peace, where the heck did it go?"

He answered, “I’m right here.”

Peace is always closer than we think.

Our brokenness, our imperfection doesn't define Jesus. Jesus’s wholeness and perfection defines us, and it can change us and mold us and upgrade us today.
