Welcome back to the 7th season of Calling the Dawgs! This is one our typical offseason episodes where we catch up on recent Dawg news and any waves in the college football landscape. We also discuss what round we think our Dawgs are going in the 2024 NFL Draft. We hope to bring you one more offseason episode but there's no guarantee. Unfortunately, we do not get paid to do this. But nevertheless, we are back for another season and hungry as ever for another National Championship run!
As always, Go Dawgs!

The current state of College Football: the Wild West in Space. We don't know exactly what to make of this game. Make no mistake, it is important. This is the game that springboards us into the 2024 season. Let's start 2024 off with a win and get ready for the gauntlet next fall.

The Dawgs meet the Tide this weekend in Atlanta. For some reason, this game feels bigger than the National Championship. Maybe its the swelling hatred of Alabama while they dominated college football for decades. Maybe it's the chance to finally beat them for the first time in the SEC Championship. Either way, this is the biggest game of the year. This may be one of Nick Saban's weakest squads of late, but they have the ability to play at an elite level on occasion. Strap up. This is going to be a dogfight...
And them Dawgs is hell.

It's a beautiful thing watching the Dawgs whip up on the Gators in Jacksonville. That was probably our most complete game to date. We've got a HUGE game this weekend against a 1-loss Missouri squad. Good thing is, the game is in Sanford and Dawgnation is still hungry.

Them Dawgs are fresh off the bye weekend and hopefully getting healthier every day because we will need all hands on deck for the Cocktail Party. That's right, the biggest game every year is finally here and it just feels right. The coast is calling those loyal Dawg fans to make the annual pilgrimage down to St. Simons, Jekyll, and ultimately, the armpit that is Jacksonville, Florida. We love everything about this weekend, including loving to hate the Florida Gators with a passion. This game is HUGE for the Dawgs as we head into our November gauntlet.
Let's break them. GO DAWGS! Beat the Gators!

The Dawgs put together a complete, dominating performance against the basketball school last weekend. We were happy to see them not only take care of business, but do it with a minimal amount of mistakes. Was Kentucky overrated? Maybe so. But that was the best game start to finish that we had played all year. This week, we've got Vandy. And that's about all we have to say about that.

We've got a big one this weekend with undefeated Kentucky coming to town. After 3 long years, we finally have an SEC night game. Buckle up, or rather, hunker down. This one is going to be a slugfest.

The weather is getting cooler. The leaves are starting to change colors. And we are about to play Auburn for our first away game of the season. What a great time of the year! Auburn hasn't looked great this season, but we can tell you this, the Dawgs are going to get their best shot. Jordan-Hare is never an easy place to play. But we got a feeling we're about to see a more motivated Georgia this weekend.

Them Dawgs decided to wake up in the 2nd half last weekend. We are glad they did. We took the win from South Carolina's grasp and Cash Jones sealed the deal with a 4th quarter score to reach the final score of 24-14. It was ugly at times, and there is plenty still to work on, but the 2nd half showed the culture and mindset of the Bulldog program. We've got one more out-of-conference game before a meeting with Auburn on the Plains. Let's get everything fine tuned in the big night game vs UAB.

The Dawgs take on the Cocks at 3:30 this coming Saturday for their 1st real test of the season. We're still trying to figure out what this team is made of. We think we'll have a better idea after Saturday. The "next man up" mentality is very real these days. But great (see also, elite) teams adapt and overcome. They say we haven't had much of a pass rush the 1st two games of the season. We have a feeling that is going to change this weekend.

Wow. We couldn't imagine a better way to start off the New Year than the Miracle at Midnight to send us back to the National Championship for the 2nd year in a row. Give Ohio State a lot of credit. They played their best game at the best time. But our boys found a way to win, and Ohio State didn't make the final play that mattered. Now, we've got TCU in Los Angeles. Don't be fooled, they are a very good team led by Heisman finalist Max Duggan. Their offense is great and their defense can be stingy. We've got to have that DAWG in us. And we think we will.

The Dawgs are back to their rightful place on the SEC throne. The final score didn't really do that performance justice. We demolished them in the 1st half and were able to burn the clock for most of the 2nd half. There were still a few hiccups in this game. In particular, we gave up 500 passing yards and turned the ball over again. But, you give Coach Smart a month to prepare, and he'll get that taken care of. We're playing Ohio State on New Year's Eve for a chance to go to the big one. What a time to be a Dawg!

The Dawgs wrapped up the SEC East last weekend with a dominating 2nd half against Mississippi State. This week, we've got Kentucky, a team coming off of a home loss to VANDERBILT. We expect our boys will not skip a beat. We're trying not to look too far ahead, but it's pretty hard when you look at who we have to play the last two games of the regular season. The boys are back.
Is this how Alabama fans feel going into the season every other year? If so, I can get used to this. We are almost exactly a month out from the start of the college football season. But, this year is not exactly business as usual. There is a lot up in the air regarding the future of college football. Which teams are jumping ship? Why would West Coast teams join the Big Ten? Will this be the end of college football as we know it? We may not have all the answers. But what we do know is, them Dawgs are still National Champions until the clock hits zero in January 2023. Who knows? Maybe they might be the ones holding the trophy that day.
We can't wait to get back into the swing of things. We'll have the Season Preview out for y'all sometime in late August!

You really can't put much stock in a glorified practice scrimmage. But, we did learn a few things from G-Day. Most notably, Arik Gilbert is still a freak. It's okay for grown men to cry, right? We still are not exactly sure how to feel. We've been in a state of euphoria ever since Ringo stepped in that endzone right in front of us to put the final dagger in the Crimson Tide. We "conquered Alabama", as Chris Fowler put it shortly after the go-ahead touchdown. Apparently we had some boats to burn that day. What a surreal experience. We feel very fortunate to have been there and watched that game together. This was a special team. Now, we are about to see a large amount of them move on to the NFL (this is about to be our best draft ever, by the way), but we'll get to that in another episode. This is about this team, what they accomplished this season, and how they took down the Tide to win the National Championship in dramatic fashion.

We're playing in the Orange Bowl for the first time since 1960. After Atlanta, we aren't confident. But we are cautiously hopeful. Michigan is certainly a better matchup scheme-wise than Alabama. That doesn't make winning an easier task. We are looking forward to seeing our defense turn it around, and we think there may be a few key position groups that will give us an upper-hand. Either way, we expect to see a much different team than we did in Mercedes Benz in early December. We want this. Let's go out there an take it.

It took us a week to calm our emotions from that tail-whipping we received a couple weekends ago. Despite our worst effort all year, we are still playoff bound (Baylor may have saved our season). We are down. There is a lot to work on between now and New Year's Eve. But, we are not out. There's no doubt we will see a different level of focus and intensity in preparation for Michigan on the last day of the year. We found out we are not invincible - not even close. But, this team is better than what they showed in that God forsaken stadium in Atlanta. Win two more games, and we are elite.

Them Dawgs are undefeated in the SEC regular season for the first time in while. There's still a lot of work to be done, but man it felt good to stomp Tennessee again in their stadium. We started a little slow. Then, we found a gear that Tennessee had not seen the likes of all year - all while battling the stomach flu! It was nice to see our guys battle through adversity last weekend and turn it into one of the most dominating performances of the year. Rocky top continues to be a dumpster fire, and for that, we are thankful. We've got Charleston Southern this weekend. To be honest, we have no preview of that game. This one is all about what we saw last weekend in Knoxville, how the Dawgs are going to get healthy, and frankly, how anxious we are getting as we gear up for Atlanta that first weekend in December.

We came out a little flat against Mizzou, but it didn't take long for them Dawgs to get it going and put together another dominating performance. A majority of our receivers are finally healthy for the first time all year. JT got in for nearly a half and played fairly well. There's a little rust, but we wouldn't be surprised to see him take the first snap in Knoxville this weekend. Speaking of Knoxville, we hate rocky top. Hooker is going to learn what a real SEC defense looks like this Saturday.

Please give Dan MuLLLLen a lifetime contract. It brings us so much joy to beat that miserable excuse for a head coach. The Dawgs came out a little slow, but they finished the first half with the best 2 minutes and 30 seconds of football that we have ever seen. We continued to push them losers from Gainesville around in the 2nd half. Zeus finally broke a big run for a touchdown. The QB situations continues to be a hot topic. Does JT take over this weekend, or does Stetson keep the top spot and rebound? We discuss all that and more.

Florida sucks. We hate them. The Dawgs should beat the soul out of them. We’ll be watching the beat down while enjoying a cold beverage. IT’S TIME TO EAT!!!!!
Nothing better than beating Auburn in Jordan-Hare. Well, except blowing out Auburn in Jordan-Hare. Yes sir, it was a thing of beauty watching our defense make Bo Nix look like the bum quarterback that he really is. That's right, the ol' "sprint backwards for 20 yards and then heave it" technique didn't work out to well for Mr. Nix. I will admit, we did not square up on him quite as much as I had hoped. Nevertheless, we beat the brakes off Auburn in their own stadium. And for that, we couldn't be happier. That's 5 in a row, if you're keeping count. This week, we have #11 Kentucky. They use a similar formula for success as we do, only without the 5 star talent. Will they be able to run on us? We don't think so. Who will start at QB? We discuss our thoughts on that and much more in this weeks episode. College Gameday will be in town for the 2nd time in three weeks, and the 3rd game of ours this season. Let's show Kentucky they still play 2nd fiddle to the Junkyard Dawgs.

The Dawg fans showed up and showed out last week for the noon kick against Arkansas. That's what Kirby meant when he said we needed to be elite. We have seen many incredible environments in Sanford Stadium ('07 Auburn, '13 LSU, '19 Notre Dame, '14 Clemson). That was the only noon game we have witnessed that was not only comparable to those afternoon/night games, but honestly right up there with them. It was an electric atmosphere no matter the position of the sun. And the Dawgs came to play, blanking the boys from Arkansas 37-0. This week, we turn our attention to the showdown with those losers from "The Plains". They escaped Death Valley with a surprising win last weekend. I wonder if they've completely forgotten about nearly losing to GEORGIA STATE at home the previous weekend? We sure haven't. We are just hoping that Bo Nix tries to perform those run-around-circus-throws against our defense this weekend. If so, we'd anticipate a lot of picks and a high havoc rating.

ESPN's College Gameday will be back in Athens for the 3rd year in a row as the Dawgs take on the Razorbacks in a Top-10 showdown. Why is the game at noon, you ask? We have some theories, but none reasonable enough to justify this scheduling blunder by "The Mothership", as Dan Patrick likes to call them. This should be a night game. But, that doesn't change the fact that the Dawg faithful will be loud, rowdy, and raucous when we tee it up between the hedges this Saturday. The only thing a noon kickoff determines is the amount of time we have to consume copious amounts of our favorite adult beverages. Some will go for the breakfast beer(s). Some may still be feeling the effects of a long Friday night in downtown Athens. Either way, the Dawg fanbase is ready to be "elite", as Coach Smart puts it. Keep choppin'.

Just like that, we are 3-0 and a quarter of the way through the college football season. The rain held off last weekend and it turned out to be a gorgeous football Saturday in the Classic City. The Dawgs took it to the Gamecocks early and often. Despite USCjr actually getting within one score in the 1st half, this game was never really close. If we hadn't shot ourselves in the foot a couple times, it very easily could have been 54-3 at the end of regulation. This team seems to get more and more hungry the further we get into the season. In this episode, we discuss what went right in the South Carolina game, and more importantly, the things we need to improve on. We also examine how the SEC landscape is unfolding and we dedicate a small amount of time to talk about the horrendous football team we're playing in Nashville this weekend. The Mailman delivered in a rout of UAB last weekend. It was a fantastic home opener from the weather to the play on the field. We still have several concerns as we head into our SEC opener against South Carolina this weekend. First and foremost, we have got to get healthy. The further we get into the season without some of our top players, the more our concerns grow. We're hoping to to get some of those guys back this weekend. We discuss injury updates, what we saw against UAB, our expectations for the upcoming night game in Sanford Stadium, and more. GO DAWGS! Beat them Cocks! Our defense came to play Saturday night, to say the least. We may have not seen a better defensive performance in our lifetime. It's not very often you can say you won a game without scoring a single point on offense. They played that good. Of course, there are plenty of things we need to work out on the offensive side of the ball. The first item on the agenda: get healthy. We've got UAB on deck this weekend. Don't be fooled. They are no pushover. We will need to be on point to make sure they don't give us a scare... at least for a half. There's a long way to go this season, but we are off to a damn good start.

It doesn't get much bigger than this for the 1st game of the season. We are nervous as hell. What do we have to do to win this game? We attempt to answer that in this episode. We just want to win. Is that too much to ask?

We are less than 3 weeks away from the day we look forward to all year. If you're like us, you have been dreaming of tailgates, big plays, and Saturday nights in Sanford Stadium all summer. Given the circumstances of last season, this one is extra sweet. We'll give you our thoughts on each position group, how our schedule lines up for success, and our overall outlook on how the Dawgs are going to beat ass this season.
Let's get it started in a few weeks up in Charlotte.

As of today, we are exactly 86 days from the Season Opener in Charlotte. This year has flown by, but we're not complaining if that means we get to football season a little quicker! The Dawgs have added a few key transfers this month. We go in-depth about what that means for this coming season, and how new transfer rules are going to affect the college football landscape.
PSA: We actually recorded this episode as a video, too. So that should be up on our YouTube channel soon. Thanks for listening!

All of a sudden, we are beginning our 4th Season here at Calling the Dawgs. Not sure where the time has gone, but we're still having a good time! In this episode, we discuss the nail-biting Peach Bowl win against Cincinnati and then dive into the players' NFL decisions. Who is going pro? Who is running it back because they've got unfinished business? The off-season continues to be a roller coaster ride. Let's get into it.

We spent the first 15 minutes of this episode soaking in the joy of watching Florida "throw" their season away. We can't think of a better way for them to lose a game. Then of course, Dan Mullen continued to show why he is the biggest clown in the NCAA in the post-game press conference. What a joke. Other than that, there are several big news items including the Vandy game being cancelled and Early Signing Day on December 16th. We are hoping the Athletic Department finds a replacement opponent for our Seniors this weekend. They deserve it.

This hasn't been the most conventional season of all-time. We're not even sure if we are going to play our last home game of the season, meaning one of the most successful classes in Georgia football history may not have the Senior Night that they very much so deserve. As of right now, we have two regular season games remaining. Let's hope it stays that way. Other than that, Early Signing Day is coming up (December 16th) and the Dawgs have plenty of recruiting momentum as we head into the final stretch. Keep an eye on the transfer market here soon, too. We might get a surprise or two from there. Let's finish strong in Columbia and then hopefully Vandy will have a team to field against us in Sanford Stadium to cap off the weirdest regular season of all time.

Quarterback is the most important position on the team. Who knew that was the last piece to get the whole team clicking, including the defense? It's been a crazy year but there's still plenty to play for. That said, there are high school football teams in the state of Georgia that could beat Vandy.

We lost to Bama again. It was a story of two halves. The first half was fun. The second half was not. That's all you really have to say, but we went through the pain of re-living the loss so you don't have to. There is plenty of room for improvement and we still have all of our goals ahead of us. Time to get back to work.

The Dawgs are fresh off their 4th straight win over Tennessee and the defense is firing on all cylinders. But we will need more "havoc" than ever this week against the No. 2 ranked Crimson Tide. Will the Mailman deliver, again? How will our top-ranked defense match-up against their explosive offense? Will we be able to run the ball on them? Who wants it more? We answer all these questions and more. One thing is for certain, this is going to be a slugfest. Saturday can't come soon enough.

It wasn't pretty, but the Dawgs got it done. There are still a lot of unanswered questions after game 1. Who is going to be our long-term QB? Will we keep swapping the O-line around? Can we snap a ball successfully? Will we have less than 100 yards in penalties for any game this year?
Well, we've got an opportunity to make a statement in front of a national audience this Saturday. The 125th meeting of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry will not disappoint. College Gameday will be in town. There will be a (distanced) crowd of rabid Dawg fans in Sanford Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30 on ESPN. Night games in October? Sounds like football season to us.

There are a lot of questions these days. Plenty of uncertainty. In this episode, we give you our take on how it could all shake out. Plus, we'll discuss recent recruiting and team news. We did not see this one coming. The Georgia Bulldogs are now fully immersed in the Transfer QB Era. Former 5-Star QB, JT Daniels, is transferring to the Dawgs from USC (the real USC - not Columbia). With the addition of Daniels and the prior transfer of Newman, the Bulldogs now have one of the most talented QB rooms in the country.... out of nowhere. Newman is the presumptive starter for the year, but it remains to be seen if Daniels will be immediately eligible to compete with Newman this year. We discuss this and the Dawgs' plans moving forward this summer. Players are now making their way back to the Classic City. Going to be a lot of conditioning in June!

This is simply one of the greatest weekends every year. Tens of thousands of Dawgs, both young and old, migrate to the Georgia coast for a long weekend of partying on the beach and hoping everyone finds their way back to the condo at night. And if you didn't know, there's a pretty damn big game going down around 3:30 on Saturday. The 2019 edition of The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party (RIP) will essentially decide who goes to Atlanta to represent the Eastern Division. The stakes couldn't be much higher. It's finally starting to feel a little bit like fall, and it's Homecoming in the Classic City. Now it's really starting to feel like football season. As crazy as it sounds, we will be halfway through the regular season after our game against the 'Dores this weekend. Man, where has the time gone? This weekend should be a fun, relaxing Saturday in the Fall. But don't get too comfortable. The schedule gets a lot bumpier after the midpoint of the season, and the Dawgs will need us to be the most drunk, obnoxious Georgia fans that we can be! But for now, we have a homecoming night game against lowly Vanderbilt. Let's take it to them under the lights and show the college football world we are ready for the Tigers next weekend.

The Vols are the premier dumpster fire in the entire NCAA. Let's keep fanning the flames. In this episode, Chancy & Chee discuss some red flags from the Missouri game (and a few positive points too) and we preview the Dawgs SEC Home Opener against the miserably terrible Tennessee Volunteers! The best part is, this team is pissed off AND the return of Jeremy Pruitt to Sanford Stadium will only help to fuel that anger. Good ol' Rocky Flop is comin' to town!

The Dawgs take on the first of three Tiger teams on our schedule this year. This weekend will be less Tiger and more like your standard house cat. Nothing to be afraid of here. Not to mention, we'll be playing in Missouri's largest high school football stadium! In this episode, Chancy & Chee recap the MTSU game and prepare you for the upcoming "SEC Showdown" against Mizzou. Hey, atleast they have Chase Daniel, he's been in the NFL for like 30 years!

Quick Note: we recorded this episode before they announced the decision to move the game time up to a 12:00 (noon) kickoff. We both think this is a wise decision. Please stay safe and take caution with hurricane Florence bearing down on the East Coast. Our thoughts and prayers are with all in its path.
In this episode, Chancy and Chee bring you our in-depth analysis of the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. For about 5 minutes. Then we'll give you an update on the other notable teams around the SEC and, of course, Chancy and Chee's Games of the Week!

41 - 17 DAWGS | The Dawgs rolled into Columbia and beat the brakes off the Gamecocks. Our boys looked great, but there is plenty of work left to be done. Just keep choppin' away. Y'all think Deebo is still looking for his dignity? Maybe #18 can help him find it. They know him now!
GO DAWGS!

SEC Opener. Primetime CBS. It doesn't get any better. Well, if they just let Nessler talk over Gary the entire game, it might be better. Come 3:30 pm this Saturday, your No. 3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs will be teeing it up in one of the single worst cities in America! There is no doubt Columbia will be rocking to welcome the Dawgs to town, but don't you worry, Kirby will have the boys ready. Let Chancy and Chee fuel your hatred of Sandstorm, Williams-Brice Stadium, and all things Cock football. Let's hang 50 on 'em.
