Everyone of us in this country is an immigrant. No matter what job you are doing, what color you are and what neighborhood you are living in, your ancestors were once new to this land.
Like our grandfathers or great grandparents, the immigrants who are living in America now are experiencing the same emotions as them— they are chasing their dreams, fighting for challenges and the most important, building new identities.
The Outsiders is a podcast that tells stories of ordinary immigrants. Here, you can not only find out they are just people like you and me, but trace your roots and finally have a better understanding of yourself.
Nano Alrais comes from Homs, Syria. In the first 30 years of her life, she has been pushed by her family and the society to not pursue her dreams; she has lost her house and friends in the war; she has run far away from home to just try to survive. But now, she is chasing her dreams freely as a singer and an immigrant.
Manuel Martin is a graphic designer from Venezuela. At his 20s, like all the young and ambitious people, Martin worked hard to achieve his dreams. But as his country Venezuela fell apart, Martin decided to get out. This is Martin's story — a life full of fights.
Over 60 percent of population in America are White. In other words, they are the biggest immigrant group in this country. That is right, everyone in this country is an immigrant including White people. While being thought as the major group to be racists, many more of White people are actually educating themselves.
