The Golden Knights have now won 4 straight games against some of the best hockey teams in the NHL, including Thursday's masterful 5-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. VGK acquired Defenseman Alec Martinez from the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, February 19th in exchange for 2 second-round draft picks. VGK has traded Cody Eakin and his 3.85 million dollar cap hit to Winnipeg in exchange for a conditional 4th round pick. Cody Glass suffers setback in Chicago, reinjuring his knee during an AHL game. Zach Whitecloud and Las Vegas native Gage Quinney have been recalled to the NHL roster and are at the morning skate. So, if I told you the Golden Knights would fire Gerard Gallant today you would have given me a good kick in the pants. If I told you that they would drag him through customs and dump him in Ottawa you would have split my head open. If I told you they would replace him with clown coach Pete DeBoer who was fired from the Knights hated rival less than a month ago for coaching a dreadfully underperforming Sharks team, you would have had me committed. Well hockey fans, break out the straight jacket because thats exactly what they did.
There is something off with the Golden Knights. Entering tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, VGK has given up the first goal, (and then some) in their last 5 games. Dropping their last two games of the current 7 game homestand, the Knights need to beat the red hot Blue Jackets to make this homestand a success.
