The Poor Sport Report is a weekly podcast focusing on the comical side of sports and that people that take it too far. If its sports, it's here. We discuss all the hot topics in sports today and review anything from sports movies and games to new equipment!
Andy Gold returns to the cast to discuss all things NBA. We talk about contenders vs pretenders and who actually has a chance to win it all.
The NBA actually got it right and made a great All Star game for the fans. Too bad Aaron Gordon can't catch a break. He should have won. Man City is in a heap of trouble and we can't decide if they are more or less screwed than the Astros.
There are two Jazz players in the All Star game for the first time in a LONG time. It won't matter because...it's just an All Star game, and they aren't on the better team, but it is nice to say we got some players in it. We go over the aftermath of the Superbowl, and early NFL talk for next season.
The Niners and Chiefs are squaring on what we believe to be a great Super Bowl! The Packers and Titans honestly just got beat by better teams. OBJ was acting like an idiot, but the Kansas Brawl definitely won out for Shining Example this week. Astro's penalty wasn't near enough if you ask guest Patrick Dabel.
The Final Four of the NFL is set! The Packer and Niners did what they needed to do, and have advanced to the game that we all want to see. The Titans....well they busted a lot of brackets. Should be a great weekend with the right to play football on my birthday on the line! Jazz are on FIRE in the NBA and we just want to see it keep rolling.
The divisional round of the playoffs are here and we could not be more excited. Both the Packers and 49ers and intriguing matchups. Should be a great set of games this weekend. All Star voting is out of control in the NBA. Something must be done!
We bring in the New Year with a NFL Wild Card recap coming up. We also praise the soon to be champion LSU Tigers as well as Joe Burrows. He is tearing up college football. Dog days of the NBA continue, but are surprisingly entertaining.
Week 17 of the NFL has plenty of intrigue as long as you're not a Ravens fan. With Lebron nursing his groin the West is going to be competitive and tight the rest of the way. The Jazz made a trade for Clarkson and sent Exum to the Cavs. They are looking to make the move into contender territory. Let's see how it works!
We deep dive into MMA looking forward to 2020. We discuss the big matchup of the Lakers vs Bucks, and take a look at the NFL playoff picture. 8 out of 12 teams have already punched their ticket but a ton is at play for seeding still. NO ONE wants wildcard in the NFC. No one.
The Utes laid their annual egg in a big game agains Oregon. So not only are they out of the playoff they are now not even in the Rose Bowl. NFL had the game of the year with the 49ers vs the Saints going OFF. NBA has some really surprising teams this year and the West is beating itself up just like we thought it would.
Paul takes a trip down south and goes to Death Valley for the first time. He also attends the Texans vs Patriots SNF game. Lot's of observations from the teams he watched play. The most important being: the University of Utah wants nothing to do with that LSU smoke. They are the real deal. This is a great year to complain about being left out of the playoff.
The Packers decided to not show up against the 49ers. The NBA has a couple of really nice surprises...Melo isn't one of them. Lamar Jackson is unstoppable right now. Who cares how long it is sustainable, get your ring man.
Myles Garrett got carried away in a way that should never happen. His suspension has to be such that no other player ever does that again. The NFL is in the thick of it right now and almost every game matters except for the Jets and Dolphins. NBA is actually a lot more surprising than we thought it would be. Melo is back and doing Melo things. Should be a fun final season for him.
NFL had upsets at every turn last week, but there were also some GREAT games. The NBA is living up to the preseason hype as there are so many teams that are actually good...including a couple surprises. College football rankings got even tighter this past week but spoiler alert...the Utes will NOT get into the top 4.
With the World Series done we can focus on the sports the matter: NFL and NBA. The Browns and Jets did not get the memo that they were suppose to be improved this year, and someone tell the Ravens they are suppose to let the Patriots just win. NBA is just pure chaos as so many teams are actually looking competitive this year. Anyone can win on any given night. It's just great.
Insane week full of meaningful sports and we turn the corner on all of it. World Series decided tonight, the 49ers aren't going anywhere so watch out NFC. NBA is wild right out the gate, and it couldn't be better for the league.
The field is wide open for the first time in 6 years! There are a lot of teams that think they have a shot to take the title, and we agree. You could make an argument for 10 teams and we can't remember a time in the NBA that was the case. NFL is starting to divide and take shape, oh and the World Series is here. LOTS to talk about. We also announce the name of our new project. Exciting time for the cast!
It's a time of pure excitement on the podcast as NBA is one week away from starting. The 49ers are not going anywhere and look poised to make a deep playoff run. We had a marathon runner break the world record, and everyone is up in arms about it...for no reason. Let it go people.
We round all the major sports this week as we talk playoffs in baseball, pretenders vs contenders, and how the NBA is dealing with a REAL PR issue. The free speech debate is real, and has so many layers to it. We try to find some way to make sense of it all.
Brad Christensen comes back to the program as he gloats his 1st place ranking in our fantasy league. We talk the changing landscape of the NFL and its QB's. The Utes went into USC actually favored...and left defeated as always.
We have gotten just 2 games of football under our belt but we could not be more surprised at how the NFL landscape has completely shifted. QB injuries are huge headline and teams are scrambling to make do. We finally get into college football and how that is not a surprise at all. MLB means something finally, so that means it must be close to the playoffs.
We dive right in to the craziness around NFL Week. Listen, don't panic...but be concerned. The USA is out of the FIBA World Cup as early as they ever had. It's ugly, but it isn't the Olympics so who cares, right?
Patrick Dabel returns to the cast as we get ready for the NFL kickoff tomorrow. We also talk MLB, FIBA World Cup and do a bit of trash talking on fantasy football. Best time of year is finally here!
It's our annual NFL preview and spoiler alert: we don't agree on much of it. College football kicks off as well, and we talk about the Utah vs BYU game which is happening WAY too early in the year.
We talk pre season jitters, Hard Knocks, and even discuss the World Cup of Basketball team. Side note...why are they playing this tournament so freaking late?!
One of our favorite episodes of the year. FANTASY FOOTBALL! It's back and we couldn't be happier. New guest Jaron Carter comes on to the cast to break down his thoughts as well. Our Fantasy Names youtube is out as well. Enjoy this time of year, it's electric!
5 years of the cast. Can't believe it but here we are. Patrick comes in and we talk Hard Knocks, Zeke's hold out, and also how baseball is shaping up as we head to the post season. Arsenal got some serious fire power as they head into their season as well. Thanks for listening and here is to five more years!
NFL teams open up training camps as football officially comes back into our lives. Some notable holdouts this year make for some interesting plot lines. Shane Lowry wins the Open Championship in run away fashion. Fantasy football prep is in full swing as well.
NBA Free Agency has not disappointed in the slightest. It's all out war next year and it could honestly go any of like 8 different ways. No joke. We can't believe what the Clippers pulled off, along with a handful of other teams as well. USWNT completed their World Cup defense in fantastic fashion and made us all proud.
Patrick Dabel comes back to the cast to talk about NBA free agency, MLB, and the Women's World Cup. Where will everyone end up? How many trades will we see? It promises to be an eventful week.
Mike Conley has been traded to the Jazz and Jazz Corner is in full effect this week. We know they gave a lot, we know that Crowder will be missed...but this was the move. This had to happen. Expectations haven't been this high since '98. US Open did not disappoint and we have new champion!
The Toronto Raptors rented Kawhi, and it paid off perfectly. They got their first, and it could not be better for Drake. The USWNT came out firing and we are all for it. US Open is here, and can anyone take down Koepka?
Jordan Makin finally comes back to the podcast. We get into the Finals, rebranding Mr Clean products, and why Ruiz winning is so great for boxing.
Finals starting in two sports this week. Hopefully Liverpool pulls it out or Karson may have to deal with some inner demons. Can Toronto actually threaten the Warriors?
New guest to the cast Andy Gold comes by to talk all things NBA and MLB. We also discuss the dominance of Brooks Koepka on the PGA Tour.
Ryan Rumfallo returns to the cast as we discuss the NBA Conference Finals. Paul has a terrible case of the hiccups so please enjoy him powering through this episode like a champ. NBA tanking is a thing of the past...or is it? Soccer finals abound and wow the Jets waste no time addressing the fact that they are dysfunctional.
Soccer finals are in full effect and it's hard to keep track of. The Kentucky Derby has people up in arms. The second round of the playoffs in the NBA have actually been entertaining, and the best teams are revealing themselves at the right time.
Patrick returns to the cast with a full heart and a full line up of topics. Jam packed week with NFL Draft analysis, NBA playoffs, and little baseball as is tradition.
The triumphant return of the podcast is joined with the triumphant return of the one and only TIGER WOODS. The greatest comeback in sports history could not have come at a better time. The NBA playoffs have been a let down thus far, but here is hoping that the Greek Freak can get it done. Congratulations to Virginia getting it done in the NCAA tournament and not allowing the Bones to embarrass us. Finally, we bid farewell to our dear friend and original guest of this cast, Denny Bates. He passed away and will be missed greatly. We will be holding a benefit show for support of his family on May 9th.
Annual tradition of bracket fill outs returns. The great Denny Bates and Patrick Dabel come back as we fill out and trash each other's brackets. The Bones also comes back with some fiery predictions this year. Enjoy!
We discuss the ridiculous story that has come out of Salt Lake City. There is nothing more cowardly than a person who talks or acts poorly to another person with the perceived immunity to consequences. There is no place for it. Utah fans in general are jaded and have a "little brother" syndrome. At the same time lets not pile on and group all fans together. There are unruly, inappropriate, and mean fans at all arenas. We also talk free agency and trades in the NFL. It's a big week.
Spencer King returns to the podcast as we talk about how the dumpster fire that is the Lakers burns out slowly. With all their acquisitions they have only managed to go up one seed from last year. The Combine has come and gone and who knows how tall Murray actually is. UFC 235 was really incredible and Anthony Smith showed what UFC could be about.
New Guest! Ryan Rumfallo comes to the cast and gives his take on the All Star Game, Jazz Corner, and the NFL settlement. Matt Kuchar gets the Shining Example this week for truly missing the meaning of what sports are all about. Good job being convinced to give the money you should have given all along.
After one of the worst SuperBowls any of us can remember all we can hope for is it is the last time we see the Patriots there. NBA has done a great job of taking the spotlight from the NFL with all this AD trade talk that will amount to...nothing. Lots of other trades and shake ups as people try to battle it out in the Eastern Conference.
The SuperBowl once again is here, and get ready for another Brady ring. We hope it doesn't happen, but hope is fickle mistress. AD demanded a trade, and that break up appears to be going the messing AF route. Knicks are wheeling and dealing, but will it actually mean anything???
The Conference Championship is the weekend. When will people stop doubting the Golden Boy Tom Brady?! Man doesn't lose. Drew Brees is one step closer to that title and we believe he gets there. The Western Conference is tighter than ever and we could not be happy as the Jazz are one of the hottest teams right now. Compress the West! We talk All Stars and Kyrie looks like he is all growed up.
Guests: Patrick and Denny. Our old dear friends of PSR come to gloat and mourn respectively. Nick Foles shows why his nick name is earned not given. We talk NFL playoffs, coaches and Patrick makes sure to let everyone know he won fantasy this year. We go over the National Championship Game and NBA news as well.
NFL playoffs are underway and we make our picks. Still can't get over how stacked the Western Conference is this year. The Bowls are almost over...thankgoodness.
Houston living Mike Schmidt returns to the cast to mourn his finals lost in fantasy as well as rant about anything he can. Congratulations to all the winners in your fantasy leagues. The UFC has officially become a circus of inconsistent chaos. The NFL playoffs are taking shape, and we discuss the landscape of the NBA. Mike had to record this episode early before he got as he calls it "The Tizies".
Anthony Davis has been buzzing around a lot of trade talks. What would you give up to have him on your team? The AFC playoff picture is a thing of beauty. Anyone could come out of that group and it will be fun to see that play out. Not so much in the NFC this year. That side is a lot more straight forward.
We take a look at the top heavy NFC, the deep AFC and how the playoffs are taking shape in the NFL this year. It truly is insane how deep the Western Conference is the in the NBA. Also, where is Trae Young going to finish in ROY of the year voting. We talk it all out. Shout out: Comedy Cares Holiday show is this weekend at Wiseguys. Email us for any info or donations you would like to contribute to a great cause.
Huge storylines this week. Kareem Hunt is dismissed for domestic violence. Mike McCarthy is fired for losing to a team that has never won in Wisconsin. Kyle Korver has been traded to the Utah Jazz, and already the team seems to be jolted. The College Football committee got right and thank goodness the Utes didn't win the Pac 12.
The Match was honestly about as good as it could have been, but wasn't great. Hopefully they can build on it for future events. The NFL is carving out it's elite, and that doesn't include the Packers. That much we know. NBA is upside down, and fantasy football winds down as the playoffs are upon us. Karson knows little about that.
It's our Thanksgiving episode her on the cast. We have so much to be grateful for, and so much that we wish would go away. The Rams and Chiefs was straight fire, too bad neither are going to the Super Bowl this year. The NBA is as competitive as ever, and Paul has to eat crow about the Wizards...cause they are done. Tiger vs Phil is as exiting as an event can be for Match Play golf. Paul is just way too excited to see that match go down. Be safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
In the midst of the Jimmy Butler trade, many in the West are just happy that someone went to the other conference. Now we have an actual competition for the East crown. Sorry Cleveland, you are not going to be involved. Doesn't matter what you think about Dez Bryant, it sucks that he tore his Achilles on his second day of practice. Leaves you thinking about what could have been.
The NBA is firing out the gate! There are fights, records being broken, and teams are clawing for everything. The East is top heavy as usual, and the West is insanely deep, but it's all fun to see. Trade deadline in the NFL came and went today and a lot of movement in some unexpected places. Not just the NFL, The UFC made the biggest and one of the first trades ever with 1FC. Happy Halloween everyone!
Brad comes back from his summer hiatus to talk about the new basketball season. Do we feel like we know who are in the Finals? Sure. Are we still excited to see who else can emerge as a contender? Absolutely. We also talk week 6 of the NFL, and Rodgers...what can you say that hasn't been said already. He is a master.
We discuss the mayhem that ensued following the fights this past weekend. What is to be done? The Championship Series is set in baseball, and the NFL just keeps dealing out the drama. Side note to all fantasy players...set your lineups you idiots!
Huge fight in the UFC this weekend. NFL is starting to take shape, and the Ryder cup was an absolute mess. MLB playoffs start up, and Cubs don't have to go far to realize they won't be playing in them.
We talk about the absolute disgrace that has become the new QB protection rule. We go over week 3 NFL news. UFC has a lot coming up, and we go over the Ryder Cup which is under way this weekend.
This one gets unhinged pretty quick. We dive into NFL week 2, NBA trade talks, Charleston Chews, and yes tweeting at companies. It gets weird, it gets personal, and its apologetic this week on the Poor Sport Report. We will say this, the phrase "kissing your sister" is not okay with a one Karson Ray Wood.
Aaron Rodgers has our attention. His performance does nothing short of prove his dominance and GOAT status. Rings will come, but his dominance is undisputed. The line judge of the US Womans Open needs to calm down...a computer can do your job. Week 1 of the NFL in general was amazing. Karson Madera makes his debut as he shows his allegiance to Mexico over US Soccer by wearing their jersey on the day of the friendly "accidentally". So disappointing.
Guests Denny Bates and Patrick Dabel come to a jam packed episode full of stories from the NFL, CFB, MLB, and Fantasy Football. The glorious season of sports is upon us again and we are ready.
We talk all things NFL and give our picks for the 2018 season/Super Bowl (we know, way too early for that). Hard Knocks is actually good and UFC has a card worth seeing.
This cast breaks down strategies and players that we do and do not like for this years fantasy football season.
Football is heating up and we couldn't be happier. Premiere League kicks off this week and Karson gives us a nice break down of the season at hand. TO decided to not go his induction, cause he is...TO of course.
In a quiet week around the sports world, the OSU story with Urban Meyer has a lot of people talking about the wrong things. We don't know what happened, but we hope that it isn't what it looks like. UFC needs to promote better and the Bears need to learn what guaranteed money actually is.
Denny Bates and Patrick Dable come back to the cast to dissect the baseball year that is. It is AL heavy for sure, but don't count out the NL just yet. Kawhi needs to do the opposite of shutting up and talk to us for heaven's sake and DeRozen...look we feel bad but enough already.
We make our triumphant return to the microphone from our 6 week summer vacation. It was definitely intentional and had nothing to do with technical difficulties. We recap the World Cup, NBA Finals, MMA talk, golf and everything between. Glad to be back. Sorry, this episodes audio runs a little hot, i'm trying figure the audio out.
Finals for both the Champions League and NBA are upon us. Won't lie, not sure what happened with the audio on this one. What's worse: JR Smith's mistake, Karius's mistake, or our mistake with the audio. You decide.
Eastern and Western Conference Finals feel like they will both be going the distance. We debate (again) the NFL protests rule, and Champions League Final is this week. One of us will be watching it.
Happy Mother's day to all the poor sports out there. Karson went to a Padre's game and saw the mascot in drag. We dive into NBA and NFL playoffs and debate if the UFC purchase by ESPN will be good or bad for the sport.
2nd round of the playoffs hasn't been as competitive as we thought, and there may have been some false hope running through the mind of Jazz fans for about 45 hours. Mike Schmidt was at Game 2 Rockets vs Jazz and talks about what it was like to see the dunk of the year from next years rookie of the year, Donovan Mitchell. We dive briefly into the NFL draft and can't figure out why the Browns keep getting it wrong.
The first round is electric again and competitive FINALLY! It's been a long doubt but all that is behind us. Every series intrigues and brings a reason to watch, and we can't get enough of it. We go over the draft order and also talk about Arson Vanger and his separation from Arsenal.
Brad Christensen comes onto the program again to just try and attempt to break down the wild playoff picture that returns parody to the NBA. How did we get here? How did we get from status quo to up in arms with uncertainty?! It's going to be fun to watch, this much we know. We also break down the Masters, and what happened to Conor this weekend with a dolly and a bus.
Jam packed episode with Denny Bates and Patrick Dabel coming on to talk a great week in sports and a horizon of great things to come. We talk about the Final Four that crowned a worthy champion in Villanova, and we also break down how Denny lost to a pair of dice. MLB be is back and we make are annual season predictions. Finally, golf is here and this is the Masters we have wanted for a decade. Wide open field with Tiger hunting as he should be.
The Final Four is set and Loyola Chicago becomes the 4th 11 seed to break though and emerge from their region. Can they really go all the way? NBA is in full on sprint to the playoffs. Don't sleep on the Rockets, they are out for blood.
Madness reigns from everywhere! We dive into the craziness that is the BIG DANCE! The bones is behind, which makes Paul breathe a sigh of relief, and it's anyones tournament now. NBA has never been funner and that is all we ask for!
Denny and Patrick come back to the cast for the traditional round table of trash talk and pics for the annual bracket of NCAA Mens tournament. Patrick can't quit Seton Hall, Paul can't quit Arizona, and Karson can't quit copying Patricks bracket. Enjoy the madness.
The World Cup in Russia has decided to allow pretty much every drug into the stadiums. How is this being allowed?! UFC has some interesting ideas for weight classes, and we talk about up and coming stars for the NBA.
The Winter Olympics have concluded and we talk memorable moments. Nike done messed up. Can't get a jersey anywhere, and its making us mad. We talk UFC and Jon Jones as well as the Vikings QB struggle. Lastly the Rich Eisen rule has me thinking baseball could be better then ever!
Alex Velluto returns to the cast to talk about the dunk contest. Donovan Mitchell has officially arrived to the national stage! All Star weekend seems to be an rousing success, minus the anthem. We also talk about the winter Olympics, and more importantly the Black Panther premiere! Alex's dad was an illustrator for the comic and he had the chance to go to the LA premiere!
Brad Christensen comes to the cast to discuss our first Winter Olympics that we cover on the cast. Also, after an eventful trade deadline the Cavs and Jazz are energized. Especially the Jazz who have knocked off 10 in a row and look to make the playoffs. Jazz corner is a big part of this episode. Deal with it.
We discuss all things Super Bowl. What did you think? What happens now? Are the Pats done? Also, what is going on in Cleveland?!
Eagles and Patriots are meeting in Minnesota this weekend to fight for the trophy. We know who we WANT to win, but who is actually going to win, that is the question. Griffin gets dealt to the Pistons, and Boogie goes down with a bad injury.
If you've never heard the cast before this is the first one to listen to. We have it all this week in a wild week that was sport. NFL, NBA, UFC, golf, soccer, MLB, and even some hockey. Crow was eaten as the Jags brought it Pittsburgh last week, and will Brady play? Who are you picking for you starting 5 at the All-Star game? The Super Bowl of UFC fighting is this weekend with a lot on the line in almost every weight class.
Georgia almost won, and probably should have one an amazing national championship game. Saban may be the GOAT for college coaches. NFL playoffs are actually compelling and have great story lines this week.
Alex Velluto and Jordan Makin come on the cast to discuss and learn about football, in that order. We talk about the great story that is and was the Buffalo Bills, and playoffs for the NFL. People are upset about the National Championship being all SEC, but if other teams WOULD HAVE WON that would not have happened. The best two teams are in and that is all that matters.
Denny Bates and Patrick Dabel return to the cast to wrap up fantasy football opinions. We don't listen to much of Patrick's opinion because....he got LAST place. We review all of the new "Spirit of the City" NBA jerseys and boy are those mixed reviews. Happy holidays one and all.
We discuss the death of the NFL season for both of us as the Packers were essentially eliminated from playoff contention this week on the game that Rodgers returned to the field. The NBA is now the focus of the cast.
Donovan "Spider" Mitchell is on a tear for the Utah Jazz and making a strong case for ROY. Spencer King returns to the program to discuss his impact and the College Football playoff. Are we mad Alabama is in? Yes. Does Ohio State have a complaint? No. Don't lose to Iowa by 30 and you're in. So here we go with bowl season.
Alex Velluto makes his debut on the cast and we talk all things basketball, while still diving into the NFL. Hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving and enjoy the holiday season.
US thinks they can put together a Cup of Losers pool from teams that didn't make the World Cup?! No thank you. That takes away from the very point of making the World Cup! Finally some positive stories in the NFL, and will some please beat the Celtics?!
Denny and Patrick come back to recap baseball and the sad state of the NFL with all of the injuries. NBA is in retooling mode so not much to talk about there. Only bright spot is how bad Patrick's team is in fantasy
We almost had a Poor Sport Injury Report round two in the NFL. It has to change somehow but who knows if it will. The Houston Astros give hope to all the fans of franchises that have never won. NBA is actually interesting because so many teams are trying to figure out what they are about.
There is nothing to talk about this week that compares to the injuries that have been witnessed around the sporting world. Aaron Rodgers is down, I repeat, Aaron Rodgers is down. It is insane how many people have gone down. Gordon Hayward also is down. I'm not happy about it, and am sad. But not for the reasons you may think.
The Men's National Team failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1986. This podcast was founded on the World Cup, and now we have to wait 5 MORE years to talk about it again?! Also, the NY Giants are in trouble, it's bad. Congrats to the Astros, Yanks, Dodgers all moving on....we are looking at you Cubs.
We discuss the state of the NFL after the first month of games. Things are bad for the Giants, we know that much. How are we talking NBA already?! It's just too soon, the MLB is finally watchable for Paul anyway.
We talk about the wave of protests sweeping the NFL, and how trump is only hindering the good that the awareness is trying to create. While we stand, we understand the protests and the need to create awareness. NCAA is in some trouble, the NFL still feels like it is in preseason mode, and Hoodie Melo is going to Thunder Alley.
We talk about our pleasant afternoon at BYU vs Wisconsin. Offense is down all around the league in the NFL, and fantasy is suffering because of it. Sherman Williams better pay up for that HR that was hit, and the Indians can't be stopped!
We dive into the amazing first week of the NFL. We talk fantasy, and what people can do to improve their team...unless they lost David Johnson. Big Ben literally has more wins than any Browns QB at THEIR OWN STADIUM?! Show off if we ever saw one.
One of our favorite episodes of the year. Fantasy is upon us! We discuss strategies, our teams, and the NFL landscape as a whole. We recap the Conor/Mayweather fight, Kyrie trade and rant about how cheating defeats the purpose of sports.
Mike Schmidt returns to the program to discuss fantasy, the NFL and the fight of the year that is taking place this weekend. It will be a spectacle that I will be there for, and wish that i wasn't.
Guests: Denny Bates and Patrick Dabel return to talk about baseball of course. Can the Nationals stay healthy? Will the Dodgers shake of their postseason woes? Are the Astros for real? We discuss. Also, the itch of fantasy football must be scratched. Patrick enters this program's league as a rookie this year, and looks to take the trophy home (but he won't).
Travis comes to the cast to talk baseball and soccer. He did however get forced into a debate of whether Kobe is better than LeBron or not. We dive into the Neymar buyout and Jon Jones UFC title domination.
Spencer King finally makes his debut on the cast to talk basketball free agency, and what the Cavs are going to do to clear up this mess. We also talk about the US winning the Gold Cup against Jamaica. UFC has a can't miss card coming up this weekend so make sure to check it out.
In the dog days of summer the cast reaches deep into the bowles of sport to find things to talk about. Yes, tennis is discussed on this episode. However, the one bright spot of news is the ridiculous fight promotion tour for McGregor and Mayweather. Aaron Judge is no joke, and the Jazz refuse to rebuild. Smart.
Caution: This episode is EXPLICIT and extremely salty. Not like sprinkled on your steak salty....like damn full of salt salty. We discuss at length Gordon Hayward and his decision to leave the Jazz as well the other free agency that has swept across the league.
NBA is in a frenzy! Two insane trades and one draft later has the league in full on panic/asset acquiring whirlwind. Will it matter? are the W's and Cav's still on a collision course to meet a fourth straight time? Also, UFC was must see last weekend in NYC...unlike Phil Jackson who is probably already back in Montana with his 24 million buyout.
The D League is now the G League? Justin Thomas shot 9 under at the US Open? Russell to the Nets? Howard to the Hornets? What is going on in the world of sports right now???? Karson and Paul discuss the week that is and the fight that will be between Mayweather and Connor.
Durant has quieted everyone with his MVP performance. Now what do the Cavs do to close the gap? Who else can possibly contend? Brad Christensen comes back to discuss the Finals, World Cup, and US Open.
We discuss what will happen to the NBA landscape if the Warriors do in fact complete the demolition of the Cavs. We review picks for baseball as well because Patrick and Denny return to the program.
WARNING: The audio in the episode is AWFUL. I didn't connect the mixer correctly and i apologize in advance. If you like distant audio that sounds scratchy then enjoy, otherwise just skip this one. Finals are set to go. How far? Thats another question. First ever trilogy Finals should deliver better the the Pirates movie, or the first three episodes of Star Wars. It's buckle up time, for real
The Conference Finals of both pretty much wrapped up and the Finals better be great to make up for this awful display of unmatched competition. There is no point to even watching them. This is what you get when you have two powerhouse teams. NFL makes some great changes to the rules and we ask the question : "If you aren't smart enough to know you purchased handicapped seats...aren't they meant for you?"
Look, we know Hayward is going to opt out, and that's fine. We make some very compelling reasons why he should stay with the Jazz. Also, just get to the Finals already. It's Warriors and Cavs, then everyone else.
The Jazz move on to the second round of the playoffs, with no help from a certain sandwich establishment. We debate what should happen to potential draftee's who are accused of domestic violence. Who is better off after the draft, and who has dug themselves a bigger whole?
The NBA 1st round is almost over with great series deciding games this week. The NFL draft is finally upon us, and Paul couldn't be more excited. Who will your team take in the first round? We have some thoughts.
Friend of the program Lance a Mil drops by while we talk NBA basketball playoff action. While we here at the program were not especially excited for the first round of the playoffs, they have been entertaining to say the least! Also, for the Salt Lake area check come check out the "Hard in the Paint" basketball tournament this weekend!
This one has literally too much info to contain. We hit it all! The Masters, MLB preview, NBA playoffs, United beating people up. Too much for only two hosts so we brought in Denny and Patrick to keep us in line.
Lot of topics covered this episode. LPGA fans need to calm down, NHL is withholding its players (rightfully so), and Westbrook will win the MVP with this record setting year. Mississippi State did the unthinkable, then lost the final game.
The Brad Christensen comes back to talk March Madness and NBA. It quickly turned to Jazz and Gonzaga corner. Rudy Gobert should be DPOY and Lebron is the MVP. Westbrook should win it though. Vegas Raiders are here to stay...in 2019.
The first weekend of the tournament had a lot of surprises, but not real Cinderella. All 16 are major conference teams and Chalk (meaning the top seeded teams won) in half of the bracket. NFL free agency has almost ended and we talk about all the teams that added and subtracted this off season.
Denny and Patrick return to the program for the 3rd annual bracket challenge. The Stakes for steaks contest continues. Patrick paid up for last years showing, and is gearing up for another round of marinated greatness. Let us know what you think about the picks this year. This is also the first ever youtube showing of the episode. Check it out on youtube.
The NCAA is going to round up a player's ppg stats, so just stop keeping them then. John Ross showed us what the combine is really about. The NBA is really worth watching again, as the playoff push has begun for teams positioning for seeds. Next week.....March Madness episode!
We discuss why Magic Johnson has his work cut out for him, and it will not be as easy as Laker fans think. We recap an actually eventful trade deadline and how UFC overtime rules in the champion rounds.
The weekend overall was disappointing but none larger than the dunk attempt contest. Boogie gets one last shot to be an actual NBA professional, and Joe Harding learned the hard way why not to dance...while in an MMA fight.
Can't we all just get along? Not in the NBA. Seems like every story out of the NBA right now is about feuds and beef. Let us know which side you take.
Tom Brady is the GOAT. We aren't arguing that. However, this was not a great Super Bowl. It can't be when one of the teams just completely dies in the fourth quarter and allows the GOAT to do what we know he can.
Brad Christensen comes to the program as we discuss the massacre that was NFL Championship week. The Jazz are so much more fun to watch on the road, and UFC had an insane knockout this weekend. This episode will Kickstart the dry spell that is...no football.
Rodgers will not be denied. He is going to run the table. Then he is going to polish his rings on that table.
If you don't get the pun of the title, this isn't the episode for you. Mike Schmidt comes to the cast for the first and the NFL playoffs claim their first victims of the year! What should the UFC do with their commentator search landing on Jim Rome???
We discuss why Rousey has fallen so fast and hard (literally). The NFL playoffs are her and NO ONE wants the Packers....or Giants. Too bad they play each other in the first round. Here we go. Trophy time!
Fantasy football is done for another year, and we celebrate/review the year in fantasy. The NFL playoffs are right around the corner, but not for the Broncos. Finally, the NBA just doesn't have the excitement we need because we already know who will be in the Finals.
NFL and NBA are as exciting as ever. What is the only thing that would make it better? Loser's bracket NFL playoffs to decide the number 1 pick! Don't think about it too hard....we didn't.
Confusion reigns with when this cast even takes place. You be the judge. One of the most packed episodes we've ever done. Klay, Russell, NFL, Fantasy, MMA, fantasy, we hit ALL this episode.
We invite Lance onto the program for the first time. We also decide to have snacks on the cast while we chat about Connor, the NFL, going on the Jazz court, and how to get involved in local rec. sports.
We made it! We actually did it. We sat and recorded 100 episodes of us talking about sports and making fun of each other. We talk about our favorite moments and what's happening right now in sports....for the 100th time.
After extensive technical difficulties the Report is back. We have Denny Bates on to take about the Cubs breaking the curse, should McCarthy be fired, and how successful was UFC 205! We back!
Dual comes on the cast for the first of many times. We talk all things Boston, black lives matter, the Ryder Cup and the death of Arnold Palmer. We also discuss what it really means to steal a base.
I may hate the guy, but Bill Belichick is one of...if not the best coach ever. He's on the Rushmore and we have officially flipped on his greatness. Fantasy starts to become interesting, and poor Leicester is apparently a one hit wonder.
Favorite episode of the year dives into nothing more than fantasy football. It's back and the cast is here to break down our thoughts on the coming year. We have also launched our Studio and check out our new video on youtube!
The Rio Olympics are over, and will never be back there. Now, we know the Olympics are Greek made, but judging by the medal count, America has them on lock. Ryan Lochte needs to figure his crap out, and UFC 202 did not disappoint, but Paul still almost threw up.
Karson and Paul are heating. Simply Mac and Arsenal football club take the brunt of it, but the US Womens Soccer and Jared Goff don't escape much better.
Paul talks about his first UFC event. He only knew it was in town because Karson made sure that he did....unlike the promoters of UFC. Rio Olympics are off to the races and we debate if Phelps is the best Olympian ever. Rod makes an appearance on the show unfortunately.
We are back talking about why the olympics are in Rio. Seriously, why Rio? Also, it doesn't matter where you pick in the draft, as long as you have enough time to prepare for it. So be creative and set your draft order early so people can compete!
Yours and Karson's personal time together. Paul went to get a table so we can have sports in our house. Karson talks about Kevin Durant move, Jamie Vardy stay and UFC 200 and subsequent sale.
The NBA draft happened, for the 3 franchises that cared. For everyone else it was trades week! Dustin Johnson overcame ineptitude to earn his first major. Can Messi win on the international stage? Questions abound this week of summer madness.
Thanks Adam Silver for making us have a longer series that shouldn't be happening. The MLB season is actually very interesting this year with a lot of really good teams at the top. All the golfers need to SHUT UP about the US Open course.
King James isn't going down without out a fight....as long as K Love is off the court they have a shot apparently. UFC took things too far with it's reporter, and Ventura needs to calm it down on the mound.
Warriors go to a game 7 thanks to our show off Klay Thompson. Which team do the Cavs want to play??? Also, Kershaw is taking no prisoners this season, at all.
OKC blew up the playoff status quo this week. How many games can they steal from Golden State? Can they win it? Also, why aren't people talking more about the Cavs amazing playoffs? The Raiders in Vegas!? I can't even wait for that to happen!
The draft has come and gone, and now the new season is officially over, I mean started. Cubs are on record pace, and the NBA playoffs have finally begun.
We discuss the short sightedness of NFL teams and their desperation to get one high pick....and nothing else. Could Connor really retire? Is Curry going to play? Why would he? How does Durant land with the Jazz. We hit all those topics today.
Sure the NBA has 'playoffs' starting this weekend, but we all know how the West and East will look when it's all said and done. Spieth will rebound from his collapse with no problems. This we know.
Fowler set off Masters week with a bang at the Par 3 contest. We can only hope that this is a preview for the weekend. The Warriors may very well have lost their shot at history. Lastly, the NCAA tournament Final was the best ever. I'll defend that to the end.
Skylar Norris is back to talk MLB!!! His Mets lost bad in the World Series, but they are back for blood this year. Ponyo also makes a loud repeated appearance on the cast while running a muck during the cast. Held will come out victorious this Monday, promise you that.
The upsets were nothing short of brutal. The games were some of the best first rounder's we have ever seen. March Madness hasn't disappointed, unless we are talking about Patrick's bracket.
Denny All Star Bates and Patrick come back to discuss, pick and fight about the bracket. This tournament is set up to be as crazy as any ever! Rain threes and drink!!!
We have revamped the not sponsored segment, and the website is finally done! Go check it out at poorsportreport.com. UFC 196 was amazing, and NFL free agency is all about the AFC South on Day 1.
We discuss the Joe Johnson acquisition by the Miami Heat. We also announce that the podcast website is finally done and will be up shortly! Rounding out the cast, we hand out some awards to commemorate the season.
Kind of a quite week in the world of the NBA. No one wants Howard, and everyone else knows the Warriors are going to win it all. UFC should be the high light of the week in the "Cowboy VS Cowboy" match up.
We talk everything SuperBowl (game, commercials, etc) as well as the legacies of Cam Newton and Peyton Manning. Paul also got the chance to meet Jason Kreis the old coach of RSL. Long story short there is an autographed RSL ball on the mantle.
Quick Superbowl preview before the big game today. We're split on our picks and thoughts, but like everyone we just want to see a good game.
We start a new segment this week and announce some new features coming! No one is stopping Steph Curry and or Cam Newton this year. Sorry to the rest of you all. Ked gives us a new intro that will be hard to top!
Going to the Packers/Cardinals game was worth every penny, but we discuss what needs to happen for this game to be remembered they way it should be: a playoff classic.
The champion on champions Denny Bates joins the program as a courtesy during his royal tour. The best weekend in the NFL playoffs looms with a lot of really intriguing match-ups. Hedge your bets!
The best wildcard playoff teams in possibly NFL history are lined up for a great weekend. TCU definitely wanted it more than Oregon....but seriously what happened there.
Derrick Saunders flys in just to say hight to the program. He weighs in on the turmoil that grips the UFC in both mens and women's division. Also NBA is in full swing and he couldn't be happier.
The Vegas Bowl will prey on two fan bases that are just angry. So why not take it out on each other? This UFC cards appears to be one for the ages, if it can live up to it. Fantasy playoffs are here, is your team ready?
The Packers are in real trouble, the Warriors are real trouble for everyone else, and we review Creed at the end of the episode.
Justin Smith from Salt Roads comes back to the program to discuss the Rousey fight, and subsequent thrashing she has received since losing to Holly. We also touch on NBA and the worse Packers loss in 25 years.
The Utah Jazz need a shorter name for the Vivant Home Solutions and Answers Security Court. V Center, that's what you want us to call it. Steph Curry is unreal, and the NFL is starting to actually mean something.
We bring Brian Nace back to the program to talk NBA. It turns into preview, history, and for some strange reason Lamar Odum. Chris Collinsworth needs to learn how to not completely contradict himself, and Drew Brees is just a show off.
Bats finally wake up for game 3 and now we have series! We talk about our failures in FanDuel and are actually excited for the NBA season, even though the Jazz are still winless.
Mets are for real, and really good. Murphy is in a zone that isn't a fantasy, but it is unreal. We dive into the new segment of daily fantasy team to represent this report.
Skylar Norris long time Met fan comes back to the program to discuss this crazy NLCS which will feature two of the most long suffering fan bases I know. The worst part....one of these teams is going to lose. We also give our picks for weekly fantasy.
Karson is a little on edge this episode because he knows that his team is about to get destroyed by mine in fantasy. Its a tense week at that podcast, but oh so great.
After a month of moving, getting robbed, and having to almost completely remodel the new home, we are back to what matters....making fun of athletes and teams who just don't get it. Skylar Norris is back to talk about only the Mets matter in this postseason.
Some we heard, some we made up, and some just wrote themselves. If you need a great fantasy team name, this is the episode to listen to.
We officially start breaking down our jumbled thoughts on fantasy football. Tweet us your questions because next week is the full on fantasy breakdown. We also discuss MLS and MLB playoffs which are close.
It's the Poor Sport Report's 1st Anniversary and who better to bring on than Brian Nace?! We needed someone to liven up the slowest sports week of the year.
The episode takes it's first look at fantasy football players this year. Ronda Rousey is officially a superstar, but most importantly we review Southpaw. It was pretty much a movie made for Paul, but Karson needs some convincing. (Spoilers at the end of the episode.)
We discuss the mud slinging affair between Tom Brady and Roger Goodell which will surely get our attention until the season starts. We will be reviewing southpaw next week so be ready! MLS is coming along and Ronda going to break something on Correia this weekend. So exciting!
We discuss how even though the LFC is a joke and a bad one at that, it is a step in showing that the UFC is actually a force to be reckoned with. JR Smith needs to fire his agent, and Tom Brady will NOT be suspended.
Justin Smith returns and brings his friend Boris to the cast to talk UFC. What the hell happened on this card?! Submissions were apparently not allowed this time around. We also debated Deondre Jordan's flip flop and if the Jazz are actually smart in free agency.
Skylar Norris comes back onto the cast to catch up on some baseball, but we were consumed by the WWC and how awesome Lloyd was...sniping! Also, should ESPN show competitive poker, gaming, or racing??? We debate.
NBA free agency is blessing/cursing teams depending on how you view the current cap issues. No one has committed to the Lakers, which has these hosts smiling from ear to ear.
Denny and Patrick are back on the program to talk about their thoughts on the baseball season thus far, and if Pete Rose will ever get into the Hall of Fame, or get out of denial. One of the two has to happen. Congrats to Jordan Spieth, half way to the slam...sorry for jinxing it.
The NBA and NHL Finals have been decided! The Warriors and Blackhawks can celebrate deserved titles for their cities! Jason Burke comes back on to talk all about his thoughts on the NBA season and predictions on the upcoming season.
The Arthur Ashe Award got it way wrong this year. The NBA and NHL Stanley Cup Finals are giving us all the drama we can handle, and is the victories over Germany and Netherlands mean anything really?
Lebron. great job getting to the Finals 5 straight years. Too bad you're probably only getting 2 rings out of it. FIFA is burning down as we speak, and the World Cup may not actually be in Kataar...hopefully.
We talked heated playoff series as well as whether or not Reebok should have the exclusive sponsorship of UFC from fighters or if they should be able to sign with who they want.
How can we pick a showoff this week. Pierce?! Rose?! James? Fowler!!!! Such an amazing week of sports has been diminished by Tom Brady and the newest round of cheating by the Patriots.
We talk of the disappointment that was the last real boxing match. We also can't help but feel like the playoffs are diminished because of all the injuries. Spurs are out so Paul is that much closer to 250 dollars of Nace's money! CP3 jersey coming!
Travis is pack on the cast to talk about UFC and what this boxing match means to boxing and the state of the sport. Who should trade up for Mariotta?
Derrick Steinman and Jordan Burrows make their debuts on the Poor Sport Report. Derrick is well known for getting athletes to block him on twitter. He shares his tricks and we talk NBA playoffs thus far.
The NBA playoffs have arrived! The West is stacked and going to be brutal the whole way through no matter who makes it out. Big props to Jordan Spieth going wire to wire and getting his first green jacket!
A bet has been made. Would take Memphis/San Antonio or the field to win the NBA title? Also, it's been a long time but Tiger is finally playing golf on a weekend in a Major. It's going to be a great weekend.
Denny "All Star" Bates and the one and only Chuck Norris square off on the show to discuss the upcoming baseball season. There is hope for the Cubs, but not so much for the Mets. We also try to figure out where we went wrong with our brackets.
Jason Burke joins us again to talk about the Warriors and how amazing they have been this year. We debate if Lebron can stop them in the Finals. Also, while our brackets are bruised and battered, they are not broken yet! Sorry Villanova.
The busting of brackets gets heated with Patrick and Denny "All Star" Bates. Logic be damned we have our gut feelings. Nothing else in sports matters this week and that's all we care about. Stop the Madness!!!
The NFL has gone insane with it's obsession with free agency. Also, MLS is gearing up for a flagship season and boasts having most of it's national team playing in its league....finally. Nothing good came from the OU racist rant, but hopefully we can stop thinking like this from being socially acceptable.
She may not be the show off of the week but Ronda Rousey straight dominates the UFC. The Jazz are better by trading a player for nothing? that seems wrong...
Justin Smith from Salt Roads joins us again to discuss the PED regulations in the UFC, the huge injuries in the NBA, and how March Madness is shaping up this year.
New guest to the program Travis Mark joins the program to talk about all things Utes, NBA and MMA.
Getting ready for the big game, we talk how the game has been tainted but promises to deliver greatness. Brian Nace joins us again for NBA talk on the All Star game and where they went wrong.
The NFC Title game may have been sloppy, but the AFC game was sketchy. With the NFL winding to a close the focus shifts to basketball (both college and NBA. Is there enough to say about McGregor? Dude going to get knocked out by Aldo.
The one and only Denny Bates comes back to rehash the NFL Playoffs, why Payton won't retire and how he let the fantasy trophy slip through his fingers. This weeks show: Urban Meyer. Do we need a reason?
Jon Jones is a shining example with cocaine rehab, the college football playoff is better than anyone could have thought and NFL playoffs may be fixed but the match-ups are what we all need.
