Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/managing-menopause-symptoms-what-know-about-hot-flashes-brain-fog-and-qunol-menopause-relief
Menopause is a significant transition for the nearly 1.3 million women who enter it every year in the U.S. While hot flashes are among the most recognized symptoms, menopause can affect nearly every aspect of life. In fact, nearly 80% of women experience symptoms such as hot flashes, brain fog, night sweats and fatigue, yet many may feel overwhelmed by the changes or not even realize these are part of menopause.
A comprehensive approach is key. That includes optimizing lifestyle habits like making intentional dietary changes, staying active, prioritizing sleep, and incorporating trusted supplements. Qunol Menopause Relief is a hormone-free, estrogen-free supplement designed to support women during menopause.
To support women during all stages of menopause, it’s formulated to address 12 common physical and mental symptoms, including brain fog, focus and attention, dizziness, mood swings, skin discomfort and vaginal dryness.
The formula combines two clinically tested ingredients: Cognizin® Citicoline, a highly absorbable nutrient that has been studied for mood, focus and attention, and Estrog-100®, which is designed to support physical symptoms including joint discomfort, fatigue, night sweats and vaginal dryness.
According to clinical study information provided by Qunol, 75% of women reported high satisfaction with improvement in overall symptoms, while nearly 97% reported improvements in hot flashes. The brand says the supplement can begin working in as little as four weeks. Find it at CVS and Amazon for $24.99.

More than 35 million Americans experience dry eye disease every year. July is Dry Eye Awareness Month and the perfect time to highlight the causes, symptoms, and treatment options. Dr. Ashley Brissette, a board-certified ophthalmologist in New York City, says dry eye disease can cause symptoms including irritated eyes and sometimes blurry vision. Factors like the environment, temperature, humidity, screen time, aging changes, and hormonal changes can all contribute to dry eyes, and it's especially common in women over the age of 50.
When it comes to treatment, Dr. Brissette suggests starting with artificial tears to help temporarily lubricate the surface of the eye. One option she recommends for her patients is the REFRESH OPTIVE MEGA-3 preservative-free multi-dose, which is gentle on the eye surface and can help treat dry eye symptoms. Some patients can even experience more than 10 hours of relief from using the drops.
Some other simple ways to support eye health include wearing sunglasses with 100% UV protection when outdoors, maintaining a healthy diet with omega-3s, staying hydrated, and taking regular screen breaks. Also try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your eyes a break from screens.

Summer break is here, and while teens are off from school and enjoying the warm weather, it’s also an important time to stay active and focused on both physical and mental wellness.
We know being a teenager today comes with a lot of pressure, and Planet Fitness recently commissioned a nationwide study that really highlighted that. In fact, 95% of teens say they emotionally or mentally struggle at times, with many reporting anxiety and challenges with body image. The encouraging news of course is that exercise can be an incredibly powerful outlet. Ninety-five percent of teens said working out helps them manage life’s challenges, and many say it boosts their confidence and makes them feel proud of themselves. So this program helps provide teens easy access to fitness with a supportive place where they can feel good physically and mentally.
That's where Planet Fitness’ High School Summer Pass® program comes in. Teens can sign up now at PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass or stop by their local Planet Fitness club. The program runs through August 31st.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/prioritizing-nutrition
Even though National Nutrition Month is wrapping up, prioritizing nutrition shouldn’t be. The key is to focus on quality ingredients, prioritize protein and fiber, and build small habits that fit your lifestyle. Here are five tips to help you prioritize your nutrition.
Nutrition works best when it works for you
Nutrition is not one-size-fits-all. There’s more than one way to eat well — whether that’s a balanced bowl, a high-protein smoothie, or a quick meal replacement on the go.
Quality foods power the day
Fruits, vegetables, yogurts and other whole-food carbs provide fiber and sustained energy. Smoothie King has new high protein Greek yogurt smoothies, such as strawberry blueberry, strawberry banana, and pineapple mango, that pair quality carbohydrates from real fruit with 10 grams of protein to support energy and balance. The new high protein Greek yogurt bowls, like the honey berry bowl with strawberries, blueberries, chia seeds, honey and Purely Elizabeth granola, deliver a satisfying balance of fiber and protein, with 32 grams of protein to help keep you fuller longer.
Look for “all-in-one” nutrition
Life is busy. Sometimes the best strategy is finding options that do more in one step. Smoothie King's new high protein Greek yogurt bowls and smoothies are crafted with their perfect high-protein yogurt, developed from scratch by the brand’s nutrition experts, making it easy to get protein, flavor, and convenience all in one.
Small habits create big nutrition wins
Consider adding an extra scoop of protein or Greek yogurt to your favorite smoothie, that will add up over time. While many brands are just now joining the protein conversation, Smoothie King has been helping guests meet their protein needs for more than five decades with clean, purposeful ingredients made without artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, and many contain zero grams of added sugar.
Lean on credible guidance
Nutrition can be overwhelming. With 50 years of expertise, Smoothie King develops recipes from the ground up, testing them hundreds of times, and working with in-house nutritional experts to balance nutrients and flavor. They do the nutritional work, so you don’t have to.
You can visit your local Smoothie King or download their app, where they make it easy to choose smoothies and bowls that fit your lifestyle.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/prediabetes-affects-1-3-americans-how-spot-warning-signs-and-take-control
More than 115 million Americans, 1 in 3 adults, live with prediabetes, and more than 80% are unaware of it. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) created Diabetes Alert Day to help people understand their risks and take action.
Prediabetes means your glucose levels are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes. It’s an early signal from your body that something in your metabolism may be out of balance.
Your risk goes up if you have a family history of diabetes, a personal history of gestational diabetes, or lifestyle factors like being less active. A quick one‑minute quiz at HelloLingo.com/prediabetes can help you understand your risk and whether it’s time to take a closer look at your glucose health.
Glucose is our body’s primary source of energy, powering our minds to our muscles. But when glucose levels stay elevated over time, it can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and other chronic health issues.
The encouraging news is that glucose is highly responsive to everyday choices: what we eat, how much we move, how we sleep, and even how we manage stress. The challenge is that most of us only see our A1C once a year, so we don’t get day‑to‑day feedback on how those choices affect us.
Today, we have tools that can make those connections visible. Continuous glucose monitoring, like Abbott’s Lingo, allows people to see how their own unique glucose responds, minute-by-minute, throughout the day.
When people can actually see how their body reacts to different foods, exercise, or sleep patterns, it often leads to more informed choices, and those small changes can add meaningful improvements in metabolic health.
The good news is that small, simple changes can have a big impact on glucose health. When it comes to lowering risk, lifestyle really matters, and what’s on your plate is a great place to start.
First, prioritize protein, which helps keep you fuller longer and slows digestion, so your body has an easier time managing the rise in glucose. Give your carbs company, by pairing them with protein or fiber, which helps your body process them more gradually.
Movement is also a powerful tool. Even a short 10‑minute walk after meals can help your body use glucose more efficiently. And of course, tracking your glucose can also be incredibly helpful.
Everyone’s body responds differently to different foods, which is why personalized insights from a CGM like Lingo can help people understand what works best for their body and make swaps that can make a difference in their health. Learn more at HelloLingo.com/prediabetes and take the prediabetes risk assessment quiz.

March marks National Nutrition Month, making it the perfect time to focus on simple, realistic habits that support a healthier lifestyle. One easy place to start is with what you drink in the morning. From refreshing sparkling water to protein-packed shakes, these two beverages can help hydrate, fuel your body, and set a positive tone for the day ahead—without adding extra sugar or unnecessary calories.
One trend we’re seeing more is the popularity of sparkling water. In fact, new stats show that 57% of sparkling water drinkers are reaching for it in the morning, and 35% are specifically looking for options without sugar or sweeteners.
One of our go-to choices is Waterloo Sparkling Water. Their drinks are custom-crafted with natural flavors and contain no sugar, no sweeteners, and no calories—just bright, refreshing flavor.
They offer a huge variety of flavors, including three newer ones that are perfect for a refreshing start to the day. Banana Berry Bliss tastes like creamy ripe banana with sweet berry notes and just a hint of orange for tartness. Melon Medley blends sweet watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew for a light, fruity flavor. And they’ve brought back last summer’s fan-favorite Lemon Italian Ice, which is now available year-round. It’s sweet, lemony, and slightly tart—one sip and you’ll feel like you’re relaxing on the beach.
They’re delicious straight from the can, but they also work great in mocktails. One fun recipe we tried is a Zesty Italian Ice Sunset made with muddled lemon, orange, and tangerine. Citrus rinds—especially lemon—are packed with nutrients, so you get flavor and benefits all in one. It’s truly a win-win when it comes to better-for-you sparkling water.
You can learn more at drinkwaterloo.com and find it at your favorite grocery stores.
Another simple way to support your nutrition goals is by increasing your protein intake, and one of our favorite options is Premier Protein. These high-protein shakes help give you the fuel you need to power through your day—whether you’re finishing a tough workout or just keeping up with a busy schedule.
Each shake delivers 30 grams of protein, only 160 calories, and no added sugar. Plus, there are more than 12 delicious flavors, from vanilla and caramel to café latte. They’re smooth, creamy, and make it easy to stay consistent with your nutrition goals—which is really the key to long-term success.
You can find Premier Protein at Amazon, Walmart, and retailers nationwide.
Beyond great nutrition products, the brand also believes healthier communities start with the people who serve them. Through their “Shakes for Shifts” initiative, they help fuel frontline workers who dedicate their days to caring for others.
This month for National Nutrition Month, they’re highlighting nurses and encouraging them to focus on realistic habits that help them refuel and recharge during busy shifts. You can learn more at healthynursehealthynation.org, which offers a free wellness program designed specifically for nurses.

Watch the video: https://www.lifeminute.tv/health/video/what-right-home-care-support-looks-older-adults-and-why-it-makes-all-difference
With the U.S. expected to have more adults over the age of 65 than children by 2034, the demand for trusted, compassionate home care is rapidly accelerating. In honor of National Caregivers Day, Home Instead gerontologist and caregiving advocate, Dr. Lakelyn Eichenberger, and Home Instead Care Pro Maureen Walsh joined LifeMinute to talk about the people behind caregiving, and how the right support can make all the difference for older adults and their families.
Home Instead provides in-home care for older adults, helping them age safely and comfortably — with dignity and joy — in the place they love most: home.
For more than 30 years, they’ve supported families through personalized, relationship-based care delivered by trained Care Pros in communities around the world. Their Care Pros assist with everyday needs like personal care, companionship, meal preparation, mobility support, and specialized care for people living with memory loss or chronic conditions.
Home Instead also takes a connected care approach — combining relationship-based support with technology that provides real-time updates and shared care information, so families stay informed and feel confident, even when they can’t be there.
Today, Home Instead has more than 650 locations across the U.S. and Canada and over 60,000 Care Pros providing trusted care to families every day.
Caregiving is about so much more than completing tasks — it’s about building relationships. Home Instead Care Pros take the time to truly get to know the people they support — their routines, preferences, personalities, and what brings them comfort and joy.
That consistency builds trust in the home. It helps older adults feel safe, respected, and understood day to day. And over time, that steady presence allows the Care Pro to anticipate needs and adapt as those needs change.
They also play an important role for families. By stepping in to provide support or respite, Care Pros give family caregivers the chance to simply be a daughter or son again — to enjoy meaningful time with mom or dad, focused on connection not coordination.
That’s what makes home care so powerful. When trust grows, the Care Pro often becomes more than a caregiver — they become an extension of the family.
National Caregivers Day is especially meaningful to Home Instead. For nearly 30 years, they’ve celebrated their Care Pro care of the Year program—honoring care pros who go above and beyond every single day.
This year, they honor 10 Care Pros from across the U.S. and Canada, including Maureen. They represent the very best of what care looks like—compassion, skill, reliability, and genuine human connection.
When Care Pros feel supported and valued, it shows up in the care they provide and in the lives of the older adults and families they support.
Visit homeinstead.com to find a local office and learn more about care options in their area.

As focus shifts from new year’s resolutions to building healthy habits that last, LifeMinute hit the Smoothie King headquarters in Dallas to share tips for staying on track well beyond January. So what’s the first habit people should focus on if they want real, lasting change? The biggest thing to remember is that you are unique, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition.
Sustainable habits start when you honor your individual needs, your lifestyle, your goals, and your schedule – and that’s where customizable options matter. Smoothie King knows this. They’ve spent 50 years on a vision to make the world a better place by nourishing healthy habits, with delicious and nutritious smoothies made without artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, many with zero grams of added sugar, and customizable options that help guests turn healthy intentions into sustainable habits. They really approach smoothies differently, developing recipes, testing them hundreds of times, and working with their in-house nutritional experts to balance nutrients and flavor.
Protein is essential for stabilizing energy, managing appetite, and supporting muscle and metabolism. Starting your day with protein-rich fuel, like a smoothie or something simple like avocado toast, can really set the tone. While many brands are just now joining the protein conversation, Smoothie King has been helping guests meet their protein needs for more than 50 years, with protein-forward smoothies and meal replacements on the menu.
The challenge is that while nearly half of Americans aim for about 100 grams of protein a day, only 8% actually get there. Smoothie King makes it easy to fuel up with protein thanks to their protein-packed smoothies like the Power Meal Slim category, and the new 100g protein pack—giving you the protein you need without the extra calories. It’s a convenient way to stay full and energized throughout the day.
Also, start to think intentionally about how food supports your overall well-being. Choose “real” foods, prioritizing minimally processed fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, nuts, seeds and whole grains to maximize nutrient intake and support long-term health. Fiber is a big one too, it’s truly the unsung hero for gut health and satiety.
Finally, build habits that fit seamlessly into your routine. When you have default choices, like a go-to smoothie order or an easy, nourishing meal, you reduce decision fatigue. Smoothie King does a great job here, from their power eats menu with high-protein toasts and protein boxes, to being the first to introduce a GLP-1 support menu last year, with high-protein, fiber-rich smoothies, and zero added grams of sugar, making them both nutritious and delicious.
To learn more and get started you can visit your local Smoothie King or download their app, where they make it easy to choose smoothies that fit your lifestyle. And just in time for Valentine’s Day, Smoothie King is turning up the “smooth” by partnering with tv personality Tyler Cameron to introduce the Berry Smooth Smoothie—a limited-time offering available nationwide at Smoothie King locations today.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/how-support-your-heart-winter-months
It’s heart health month and studies show that cold, winter temperatures force the body to work harder to stay warm, and that extra effort is one more reason to be mindful of our heart health during the colder months. Cardiologist, Dr. Tiffany Di Pietro always encourages her patients to be proactive about heart heath, especially in their 40s and beyond, and in colder temps.
Your heart is one of the hardest-working muscles in your body and relies on energy to function properly. When it comes to supplements, Dr. Di Pietro recommends Qunol Ultra CoQ10 Softgels. CoQ10 is a key nutrient your body used to produce energy at the cellular level, and no part of the body requires more energy than the heart.
While our bodies naturally produce CoQ10, those levels begin to decline with age and can also be affected by some medications. By helping supply the energy the heart needs to function properly, CoQ10 helps support vascular health and healthy blood pressure. Dr. Di Pietro recommends incorporating targeted supplementation, along with lifestyle habits like a balanced diet and regular exercise, which can be beneficial to keeping your heart healthy.
Regular CoQ10 found in many other supplements is poorly absorbed because it doesn’t dissolve well in water. Qunol Ultra CoQ10 Softgels are different. They are water- and fat-soluble to provide up to three times better absorption compared to regular CoQ10, helping people increase CoQ10 levels in just weeks.
A healthy heart supports everything you do, and Qunol is the brand that can help you champion your heart health. Qunol Ultra CoQ10 Softgels are available in 60 and 120 counts, starting at $25.99 at all major retailers including Walmart, CVS, and Costco.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., yet many of those affected have no idea until it’s too late. The good news is experts say there are things you can do to safeguard your heart. They note a good place to start is knowing your risk factors – both ones you are born with and ones connected to daily lifestyle habits. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to evaluate your risk.
Bayer, the creator of Aspirin more than 150 years ago, and a leader in science and heart health, offers a quick two-minute heart health assessment at SeeYourRisks.com.
This online tool helps you take the first step in understanding your heart condition and recognize early warning signs. Using it will help you learn about general risk factors, get a sense of how your “heart age” compares to your actual age, and receive general lifestyle guidance to discuss with a doctor, such as diet, exercise, and managing stress. It can also help you recognize commons signs that may be associated with changes in heart health, including chest discomfort, pressure or palpitations, or feeling unusually tired or out of breath.
Monitoring and tracking things like heart rate and blood pressure at home and taking notes you can review during medical appointments, can also support more meaningful conversations with your healthcare provider.

Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/managing-holiday-related-pain
The holidays are a time for joy, celebration, and making memories, but they can also take a real toll on our bodies. Between marathon shopping trips, long travel days, and endless to-do lists, many Americans are finding themselves in more pain than cheer this time of year.
Bayer U.S. Consumer Health conducted a new survey with Morning Consult among 2,201 U.S. adults that found some eye-opening things. More than half of the adults surveyed (59%) say pain limits their ability to enjoy or participate in holiday activities. Looking at just those who indicated that they were parents — 26% of respondents — the number jumps to 70%.
Half of adults surveyed responded that they have even left a holiday event early, or thought about it, because of pain. Nearly half of the parents who responded said they experience more holiday-related pain each year. Still, most parents or caregivers surveyed still push through because they want their families to have a great holiday.
According to survey responses, the top culprits are back, leg, foot, neck or shoulder pain. Almost half (47%) of the adults surveyed deal with back pain during the holidays. Respondents who experienced physical pain during the holidays attributed this largely to spending long hours on their feet, cleaning or organizing, and performing outdoor tasks. When you add in travel and cold weather, it’s no wonder our bodies are feeling it.
Beyond the physical pain, it also takes an emotional toll… two-thirds of adults and over three-quarters of parents surveyed say pain has some impact on their ability to make happy holiday memories. For many, pain can really steal some of that joy and connection we look forward to this time of year.
To get ahead of that pain and still enjoy the season, preparation and smart pain management are key. Start by pacing yourself. Don’t try to do it all in one day. Stretch before long shopping trips or car rides, take breaks when you can, and use supportive footwear.
For quick, effective relief, over-the-counter pain relievers can make a big difference. In fact, two in five U.S. adults surveyed already use OTC pain medications to relieve pain during the holidays, which are easy to find at major retailers, like Walmart, to manage holiday-related pain.
Products like Aleve®, an OTC NSAID, for example, can help relieve pain so you can stay active and focus on making those holiday memories. But remember to always talk to your doctor about your specific healthcare needs.
Visit aleve.com to find a bunch of great information on pain management.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/understanding-your-heart-health-age
A new JAMA Cardiology study shows that Americans’ hearts are biologically older than their actual age – on average, women’s hearts by four years and men’s by seven. When your heart ages faster than your body, it means your risk for cardiovascular disease increases. That’s important, because your heart health is key to longevity.
Several things such as smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and family history are risk factors attributed to accelerated aging. The more risk factors you have, the greater your risk of developing heart disease.
The good news is most risk factors are manageable. Small, everyday choices, like quitting smoking, being physically active, eating a balanced diet, reducing alcohol intake, and managing stress can all help reduce risk and improve heart health over time. This is especially important for women, where heart disease remains the leading cause of death, but risk factors are often underestimated or overlooked. Understanding and acting on those risks is critical.
To help people take the first step, Bayer® Aspirin is offering a simple, two-minute online heart health risk assessment at seeyourrisks.com. It’s a quick way to understand your potential risk factors for heart disease and start a conversation with your healthcare provider. This tool does not replace an assessment by a qualified healthcare professional about your heart health. So, make sure to schedule your annual visits.
Heart health isn’t a passing trend – it’s a critical part of our overall health and future. Understanding your risk factors is the first step to keeping your heart, and your whole self, healthier for longer. And there are easy steps we can all take every day to improve heart health over time.

October is Menopause Awareness Month, and for millions of women, it’s a time to spotlight a stage of life that often doesn’t get talked about enough. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, women’s skin loses about 30% of collagen during the first five years of menopause. They will notice changes such as dryness dullness, loss of elasticity, lines and wrinkles.
So it’s important to replenish it as much as possible. There is a new serum that skinbetter science® has launched called Mystro Revive Renewing Serum to address the issue. It’s a new formula designed to rejuvenate the look of skin and restore vitality during hormonal fluctuations associated with perimenopause and menopause.
What’s special about it is that it’s formulated with P.A.T.H.[13] biotechnology, which is a proprietary blend of 13 plant adaptogens selected to harmonize pathways affected by these hormonal fluctuations and clinically tested for women ages 45+ with dry to very dry, perimenopausal or menopausal skin.
It revives, rebalances, and restores skin’s natural luminosity and youthful appearance. It was clinically tested and showed a 32% improvement in crepey skin, 22% improvement in lines and wrinkles, and 60% improvement in hydration. Your skin just feels good and is more resilient when using this product. It's also easy to layer into a skincare routine.
You can find it exclusively through authorized skinbetter science® providers or online at skinbetter.com.
Now beyond skincare, wellness matters too. Supporting your body with nutrient-rich foods, staying hydrated, managing stress, and light exercise can help ease the transition through menopause. Remember, it’s not about anti-aging, it’s about better aging through this important stage that affects all women at some point in their lives.

What’s the trick to keeping our nutrition goals in check? Well remember the basics. First, keep healthy food accessible so when you’re super hungry and need something quick you’ll grab fruits, veggies, high protein snacks and stay away from those highly processed foods and fried foods.
Also consider supplements which can help to provide supplementation and nutrition to an already healthy diet. Look for a brand that’s rooted in science and uses only the best ingredients. MegaFood for example, makes great ones and what’s special about them is that they’re made with real food and added nutrients that your body can recognize. This is key for optimal absorption. There are three that we love. The Women's Whole Body Multi is for simple whole body support; Blood Builder Minis Iron Supplement to combat low iron and low energy levels; and Baby & Me 2 Prenatal Multi has choline which is critical for baby’s brain health, actually two and a half times more than the leading prenatal brand. Find these all at Costco stores and costco.com.
MegaFood is also planet-friendly and B Corp certified, which means it meets high environmental standards, free of pesticides, and unnecessary additives.
What else should we be doing? Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Think of your body as a plant that withers without water inside and out.

Despite being among the most popular cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries in the U.S., breast procedures are still often misunderstood. Natrelle is proud to spotlight the stories of real women that reflect a growing cultural shift towards transparency and empowerment. In 2025, we are entering a new era of transparency in aesthetics, and Natrelle is committed to fostering education and open a dialogue in order to help women make informed decisions and embrace their choices with confidence.
Natrelle is the #1 breast implant brand selected by plastic surgeons, with a collection of 300 implant options to choose from. They offer the most comprehensive portfolio of smooth breast implants with five profiles, from minimal to maximum fullness, and three different gummy gels for different levels of softness.
During consultations, they recommend encouraging patients to hold and compare all three gel types. This experience helps patients understand the subtle differences and reinforces the brand’s commitment to personalization and comfort.
Breast reconstruction has become a common and empowering option for women undergoing breast cancer surgery, helping restore their sense of wholeness. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, reconstructive procedures rose by 2% in 2024, making them one of the fastest-growing categories.
Advancements in surgical techniques now allow for highly personalized breast reconstruction outcomes. Surgeons can recreate the breast to the desired look the patient wants – whether it is what they looked like pre-mastectomy or if they want something smaller or larger.
This year, we’re starting to see more transparency in aesthetics, with patients and public figures alike opening up about the treatments they choose. This is helping to break down stigmas around breast procedures and empowering people to make informed decisions about their appearance. Whether patients desire an enhanced size or are looking to restore fullness, Natrelle offers options to help find a silhouette they will love. Based on their available tissue, body structure, and aesthetic goals, board-certified plastic surgeons can help patients identify the profile and size for a result that’s right for them.
Natrelle launched the Faces of Natrelle campaign featuring nine inspiring women who openly share their personal journeys with breast augmentation and reconstruction, celebrating authenticity and the power of choice.
By highlighting stories of transformation, from post-cancer reconstruction to self-investment after motherhood, Faces of Natrelle encourages open, stigma-free conversations around aesthetic choices and personal healing.
These stories spotlight a wide range of lived experiences, reminding patients that no two journeys are the same. For more information go to Natrelle.com.

A new survey reveals that Americans consider brain health one of the most important health issues today—and it’s no wonder. Look no further than the brain rot memes sweeping the internet to see that brain health is a main topic of conversation in today’s dialogue. Maintaining mental clarity, focus, and memory as you age is more important than ever. Neurologist, Dr. Shae Datta joined us at the LifeMinute studios with expert advice on keeping your brain healthy.
Brain health has become a growing concern among her patients, especially as more people notice feelings of forgetfulness and lack of focus as they age. As a neurologist, she always emphasizes putting a foundation in place to support brain health: a balanced diet, regular exercise, and quality sleep. But even with those routines, many people benefit from incorporating targeted supplementationto give their brain that extra layer of support.
That’s why she recommends Qunol Brain Health Memory Plus to her patients. It’s a new supplement with ingredients clinically shown to support brain health for improved memory, focus, and attention.
Qunol is already known for its science-backed supplementsthat empower you to age well and their new brain health products are no different. What she loves about Qunol Brain Health is its unique high absorption, dual action formula which combines two powerful, clinically tested ingredients: magtein® magnesium l-threonate and cognizin® citicoline.
Magtein® is a patented form of magnesium that’s specifically designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and deliver essential magnesium to the brain — which is key for cognitive function, and cognizin® aids in the maintenance of brain cell structure. Together, they deliver up to nine cognitive benefits – Qunol Brain Health Memory Plus and Focus Plus have both been shown to improve attention, focus, and even productivity and energy among those with occasional sleeplessness. Qunol Memory Plus, with its 500 mg cognizin per serving, has also been shown to improve memory. Qunol Brain Health is available in two varieties— Memory Plus and Focus Plus. Both products are caffeine-free, stimulant-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, and contain no synthetic dyes.
They are very easy to incorporate into your routine, just take two tablets daily with or after a meal — or follow your healthcare provider’s guidance.
You can find Qunol Brain Health Memory Plus and Focus Plus at major retailers nationwide including Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Sam’s Club, and Amazon. It’s an excellent addition to help support a healthy brain as you age.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/menopause-101-essential-guide-thriving-through-change
Menopause, a topic all women can relate to, doesn’t just impact your health but can also change your beauty routine according to board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky. When menopause occurs, it slows down the production of estrogen and progesterone hormones, which in turn majorly affects the body, not only in how you feel, but how you look as well with of course, hot flashes but also dry, itchy skin to thinning hair. However, Dr. Zubritsky says there are easy over-the-counter and affordable products that can help.
Let’s start with hair. She recommends John Frieda's ULTRAfiller+ Collection designed to help people with fine, thin hair get the look of thicker, fuller hair instantly. There’s a thickening shampoo, conditioner and styling spray. Each around $10 at Walmart and Amazon.
The doc also loves the new John Frieda ULTRAfiller+ Hair Density Scalp Serum for Fine Hair ($10.97). It’s powered by an advanced blend of capixyl™ and baicapil™ clinically proven to promote denser hair strands. It’s non greasy (or ultra-lightweight) so you can use it on wet or dry hair. Using these together every day will really help reduce breakage and hair shedding for thicker, fuller hair.
Next for your skin, you want to try Puri-CAPILIQUE Redness Soothing Dermo Mist Toner for The Face from the brand Pharmaceris. Pharmaceris is a European “dermocosmetics” skincare line developed by an expert team of dermatologists, biologists, and chemists. Pharmaceris is well-known in European pharmacies, and it recently launched in the US at Walgreens.com and in nearly 1,600 Walgreens stores nationwide.
This refreshing, soothing, and hydrating toner mist instantaneously cools you down and combats redness, excessive dryness, irritation, and hyperpigmentation. All of which are affected by menopause. Use this toner in your daily skincare routine and as a midday refresher, or any time you need a calming spritz. It’s suitable for all skin types and it’s just $14.99.
What else should we be doing? Drinking enough water and eating right is huge. Make sure your meals are high in protein, antioxidants, and Omega-3 fatty acids to really help boost collagen in your skin, which drops once you hit menopause. Underrated things like getting enough sleep are crucial. Eight hours a night can really boost mood and energy. Lastly, don’t forget to relax and destress to reduce cortisol levels.

Did you know that using SPF 15 or higher every day can reduce the risk of skin cancer by 50%, according to The Skin Cancer Foundation? Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Camille Howard-Verovic shares the importance of daily sun protection and the latest products to protect yourself and your family.
We know sun protection is important, but we also know that most people usually only think about sunscreen during the summer months. Sunscreen is often a last-minute thought, with 75% of SPF purchases being made for that day based on the weather or a specific event, according to CVS Consumer Insights.
However, sunburns can happen when you least expect them. UV rays are always present, even when inside or on a cold, rainy, or cloudy day, and can reflect off of snow, water and concrete, resulting in increased sun exposure. In fact, according to The Skin Cancer Foundation, 80% of UV rays can penetrate through the clouds. Additionally, some medications, including certain antibiotics and retinoids, can heighten your sensitivity to the sun, increasing the chances of burning.
With that said, daily application of sunscreen is one of the most effective ways to lower your risk of skin cancer especially in areas we often forget like the scalp, ears, feet and eyelids, also according to The Skin Cancer Foundation.
The good news is, CVS Pharmacy is right in your community and is making it easy to find SPF solutions that are right for you with a curated selection of head-to-toe suncare essentials that fit into any daily routine.
One of the doctor’s favorites is CVS Health’s Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen, which is a dermatologist-tested formula and great for acne-prone and sensitive skin. She also loves the Sun Bum Face + Body Stick with SPF 40, which is perfect for on-the-go protection, especially for those unexpected sunburn areas, like the tip of the ears. Finally, Vacation’s Classic Whip SPF 30 has a lighter-than-air texture and an award-winning scent that makes applying sunscreen so much fun.
We know CVS has made some bold moves to promote healthier beauty choices for consumers over the years. From being the first national retailer to remove all suncare products with an SPF below 15 from shelves to eliminating oxybenzone and octinoxate from all store brand sunscreen products, CVS has taken major steps to make healthy, whole-body beauty more personal, convenient, and accessible.
This year, CVS also partnered with L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty and other industry leaders to launch “Sun Responsibly,” a campaign promoting sun safety and encouraging daily sunscreen use. The initiative aims to combat misinformation about suncare and highlights the importance of year-round sun protection, including for skin cancer prevention.
Visit cvs.com/suncare to learn more about SPF use and explore the full range of CVS Pharmacy’s suncare products. Plus, be sure to sign up for CVS’ ExtraCare program to save while shopping SPF.

Back pain is no joke. Nearly 65 million Americans suffer from it each day, according to the Health Policy Institute. Dr. Natalia Serrano, Senior Associate Director, Global Medical Affairs at Bayer, shares the latest news from a new study examining different treatment options.
This study examined over 300 trials of different non-surgical and non-interventional treatments for low back pain. Among the treatments effective for acute lower back pain, NSAIDs—nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which help reduce pain and fever—were among the few that proved successful. NSAID medications, like the active ingredients in Bayer Aleve® and Bayer® Aspirin, are some of the proven effective options in relieving this type of pain.
This study reaffirms the role of an NSAID as a science-backed option, underscoring their value as part of non-opioid, first-line care for lower back pain. It’s reassuring to see options like NSAIDs validated in rigorous, placebo-controlled studies.
Acute pain is short-term pain that comes on suddenly, lasts no more than six months, usually because of an injury, surgery, or illness. It’s your body’s way of saying, “hey, something’s wrong!”
Beyond medication, what else should we do to alleviate back pain? The doctor says it’s all about keeping a healthy lifestyle. “Eating healthy, sleeping well, sleeping on a supportive mattress, exercising, keeping hydrated, avoiding lifting heavy things,” she says, “all of these are strategies that will help you manage your lower back pain.”
Dr. Serrano also urges people to feel empowered to speak to their healthcare providers about their back pain and options that may be available based on their circumstances, because not all pain is the same.
This isn’t just about pain relief; it’s about accessible, non-surgical, evidence-based care that may be an option to empower people to get back to life.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/new-data-state-smoking-2025
Although smoking rates have gone down over the past decades, tobacco remains a key national public health issue. According to the FDA, nearly one out of every five U.S. adults report using tobacco products, as does one of every ten high school students, according to the CDC. Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Retail Health at CVS Health, Dr. David Fairchild joined us to talk about the current state of tobacco use in the United States and resources to help Americans quit.
The beginning of April marks efforts to reduce tobacco product use, and 10 years ago, CVS pharmacy made the bold move to become the first and only national retailer to stop selling tobacco products in its stores.
Within the first year of their 2014 decision to stop selling tobacco products, there were 100 million fewer cigarette packs sold in the U.S. More than a decade later, CVS Pharmacy is still the only national retailer that doesn’t sell tobacco. They have also never sold vapes, e-cigarettes, or nicotine pouches in any of their retail locations. They continue to be a leader in supporting Americans during every step of their quitting journey because they know there is still work to do.
CVS Health recently conducted a survey to understand the current smoking landscape in America. They found that 77% of U.S. Gen Z and young adults ages 18 to 28 said they currently use e-cigarettes and vapes and nearly half report using cigarettes.
Smoking remains the number one cause of preventable disease and death in the U.S. According to their survey, 67% of U.S. Gen Z and young adults say the biggest challenges teens face when trying to quit using nicotine are stress, anxiety or mental health struggles. Half said they don’t know where to access support programs. But counseling and medication can more than double a tobacco user’s chance of successfully quitting.
CVS Health’s MinuteClinic offers smoking and vaping cessation programs that cater to individuals’ needs. These programs are available both in-person and virtually. In addition, smoking cessation products, such as gum and lozenges designed to help curb nicotine cravings, are available in CVS Pharmacy stores and online at cvs.com.
CVS continues its mission to create a tobacco-free generation. The decision they made in 2014 had a powerful public health impact by disrupting access to cigarettes and helping more of their customers be healthier. In fact, the survey found that 70% of U.S. Gen Z and young adults ages 18 to 28 believe that fewer retailers selling nicotine products makes a difference in reducing teen use.
But, there is still more work to be done. CVS is always looking for new ways to help, so the CVS Health Foundation is working with leading organizations that support educating the public on the dangers of tobacco products.

Did you know that in a study of those who experienced a heart attack at age 50 or younger, half were not previously seen as high risk? Renowned cardiologist and Bayer spokesperson, Dr. Jayne Morgan, joins us at LifeMinute to share insights on what Bayer Aspirin is doing to help empower Americans to take proactive steps toward their heart health and what you can do to protect your heart.
Unfortunately, 104 million Americans are at risk of cardiovascular disease, and though the statistics are astounding, many don’t realize they are at risk at all. People often dismiss the connection between age and heart health risks, believing they're fine because they feel young, lack family history, or think they have no risk factors. But the prevalence of cardiovascular disease, including hypertension, chronic heart disease, heart failure, and stroke, increases from about 40% in men and women 40-59 years of age, to 70-75% in persons 60-79 years of age, and to 79-86% among those aged 80 years or older.
Bayer Aspirin is working to empower Americans to take proactive steps toward their heart health. They're encouraging individuals to take their simple, two-minute heart health risk assessment at seeyourrisks.com. While this does not replace an assessment by a qualified healthcare professional (and we encourage you to always talk to your doctor or healthcare professional about your heart health), the assessment helps uncover potential heart health risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking.
There are many quick and easy ways to improve heart health. Consider taking a 30-minute walk, signing up for a Pilates class, or adjusting your diet to include more lean meats, fruits, and vegetables.
Go to seeyourrisks.com to take the two-minute heart health risk assessment and to learn more. And of course, always speak to your doctor about your cardiovascular health.

We’ve made it to February after what seemed like an endless January. For many, New Year’s resolutions may already feel like a distant memory, but with February being Heart Health Month, it’s still important to stay on track and focus on your fitness goals.
It’s never too late in the year to prioritize your health—this is your sign to get moving. Heart Health Month is especially a great time to focus on your health. The American Heart Association recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity weekly to maintain heart health. Exercise strengthens your heart, boosts the oxygen your body uses, supports healthy blood pressure, and helps regulate glucose levels.
This Heart Health Month, it’s important to focus on strength training and cardio to keep your heart healthy and your body strong. Planet Fitness is now offering new plate-loaded strength equipment in more than 1,700 locations—with plans to expand to all 2,700+ clubs by the end of 2025—to further meet consumers' evolving needs. The introduction of these new machines, such as the Magnum Supine Bench Press, Magnum Hack Squat, and Seated Calf, ensures members can focus on building strength and achieving their fitness goals.
Here are some simple tips Planet Fitness’ National Lead Trainer Teddy Savage often shares with members new to the gym or looking to get back into working out. First up, bring a workout buddy. Having someone to work out with makes exercise more fun and keeps you both accountable.
Another great tip is to start slow and steady. Fitness is a marathon, not a sprint. At Planet Fitness, all fitness levels can get stronger together in their welcoming community. Planet Fitness offers a high-value membership with thousands of convenient locations and best-in-class equipment, and many are open 24 hours a day.
Finally, to keep things fresh, change up your workout playlist. Music can significantly boost your energy and motivation, whether stretching to relaxing tunes or running to high-energy beats. It can make a big difference in keeping you going.
If you want to join Planet Fitness, the Classic Card membership starts at only $15 monthly. The PF Black Card membership includes additional amenities, such as bringing a guest every day at no additional charge, access to the Black Card Spa, and access to 2,700+ Planet Fitness locations across all 50 states, among other benefits.

As the new year kicks off, the focus is usually on improving our physical health, but our brain health needs attention too. Pharmacist and educator Dr. Suzanne Soliman joins us with simple tips and a regimen we can follow every day for our memory, learning, focus, and more.
What are some tips for supporting brain health? For starters, get enough sleep. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.
Next, a brain-healthy diet. Consume plenty of fruits (berries), vegetables (leafy greens), and healthy fats (avocado, fish, and nuts); limit processed foods, especially sugary drinks, fast food, and processed snacks.
Exercise—move your body because you love yourself not because you have to; movement is key. Also, keep stress at bay. Manage it with meditation, deep breathing, exercise or yoga, hobbies, and other activities.
The doctor also always recommends a good supplement. Neuriva is a favorite of hers. Unlike some supplements, she says, such as Prevagen, which she notes said it "improved memory," but can’t support the claim—Neuriva Plus actually supports up to six brain health indicators, including memory when taken regularly. Plus, she adds, you can find Neuriva right over the counter.
What else should we be doing? Cognitive stimulation, such as reading, puzzles, learning a language playing an instrument, or taking a class, social activities that include conversing with others. Don’t smoke and limit alcohol and certain medications that can impact cognition negatively.
For more information, visit neuriva.com.

The new year brings new opportunities to improve our health and wellness regimen, and it doesn’t have to be overwhelming or cost a fortune. Whether you are looking for help to reach your weight loss goals or looking for blood sugar support, Dr. Stephanie Redmond, PharmD, CDE, BC-ADM is here with the latest innovation in natural, prescription-free supplement options for hormone and metabolic health, including a natural GLP-1 option.
With the current craze about GLP-1 products such as Ozempic, what exactly is GLP-1? GLP-1 as a hormone target has been a breakthrough in the weight loss industry, and there is incredible research about how this gut hormone is crucial in regulating body weight.
What does GLP-1 do? When we eat food, our intestinal cells make GLP-1 as a signal to our brain and body that we are full, to stop eating, and to stop being hungry. But our body’s ability to make GLP-1 can naturally decline as we get older and be impacted at even a young age by our environment full of processed food and exposure to chemicals—leaving us feeling hungrier than we were designed to feel.
Dr. Stephanie, as a Doctor of Pharmacy, board certified in advanced diabetes management, and founder of Dr. Stephanie’s supplements, is excited to share her new product: GLP-Wonder. Unlike a medication that gives your body high amounts of synthetic GLP-1 hormone, this is a natural formula that is clinically proven to help your body make more of its own GLP-1.
Take one simple little capsule every day to reduce cravings, suppress your appetite, and feel fuller and more satisfied when you eat, so you find yourself eating less and find it easier to make healthier food choices. GLP-1 is key in optimizing metabolic health, weight, blood sugar, heart health, brain health, and more. GLP-Wonder is a natural and gentle approach to boost GLP-1 without side effects.
The whole foundation of Dr. Stephanie’s company is making natural supplement options that not only use science-backed ingredients but clinically studied doses—meaning you are getting high enough amounts of these natural ingredients to give you results—because it is the dose that makes the difference.
All her products are clean, sourced from the highest quality, every batch is third-party tested for safety, and made in the USA. Like GLP-Wonder, Dr. Stephanie’s products are all about targeting hormone health. We talked about GLP-1 gut hormone, but she also offers products for insulin health—the main hormone in maintaining blood sugar balance. Natural ingredients can have very powerful and meaningful blood sugar benefits.
Her Blood Sugar 24 Hour uses a custom blend of six vitamins and herbs to optimize insulin function to support healthy blood sugar levels around the clock. Pair this with her Carb & Sugar Blocker, which has premium grade Berberine, to help block carbohydrate absorption from food but also to fight insulin spikes —as insulin is a fat-storing hormone.
Learn more or purchase GLP-Wonder and Blood Sugar support products at DrStephanies.com. GLP-Wonder is in stores at Walmart, and all her products are available nationwide in CVS and Walgreens—you can find them near the pharmacy.

Are you a parent who struggles to get their kids to brush their teeth—and brush them properly daily? Dr. Christina Carter, a highly skilled pediatric dentist and orthodontist with more than 9 years of advanced training, joined us to share an easy way to get kids to brush.
One of the biggest challenges Dr. Carter says she sees is ensuring that kids brush their teeth properly and consistently. It can be difficult for kids to develop the right technique or stay engaged long enough to do a thorough job. That’s why she’s excited about the Willo AutoFlo+. It takes the guesswork out of brushing, making it easier for kids to brush effectively while giving parents peace of mind that their child’s teeth are being properly cared for.
Willo AutoFlo+ is also super intuitive. Unlike traditional toothbrushes or automated brushes that require kids to control the brushing motion, the Willo AutoFlo+ does it for them. The brush head moves automatically in a side-to-side motion, clinically proven to remove 7x more plaque.
The Willo AutoFlo+ comes with an app, which allows parents to track their child’s brushing habits. The app provides reminders, keeps a record of brushing times, and even offers rewards to keep kids motivated. It’s a great way for parents to stay involved and ensure their child is brushing regularly and effectively.
The Willo AutoFlo+ is available on Willo.com and will also be available on Amazon starting in the spring.

As we enter the new year, many of us are making health a top priority. With obesity rates tripling over the past 60 years, GLP-1 medications dominated the conversation in 2024 as an effective solution for this pervasive issue. But are they a one-shot deal? While the health benefits of GLP-1 medications are positive, it's important to remember they are one tool in a journey to a healthier life. Lasting weight loss can often be overwhelming to navigate on your own. That’s why having a coach is important in staying on track toward your goals and achieving long-term success. Independent coach Deanna Asencio from OPTAVIA, the habit-based, coach-guided lifestyle solution, and her client and friend, Sharon Reine, joined us at the LifeMinute Studios to share how to reach your healthy goals throughout your weight loss journey.
This time of year, many people are starting a weight loss journey, and it can feel very daunting, especially if you’re trying to figure it out on your own. That is why OPTAVIA was designed for real life and simplifies things for busy people like you. It’s all about making small, manageable changes that fit into your daily routine.
Millions of Americans are taking GLP-1 medications. It can be tough to get healthy, whether on GLP-1s or not. However, for those on GLP-1s, reduced appetite can make things trickier—eating less often can mean eating less of the same foods that contributed to unhealthy habits in the first place. Let’s be real—being on GLP-1s can be frustrating when you're trying to figure out what to eat, how often, and how to lose fat without losing muscle. It’s not easy to navigate alone. That’s where a coach and OPTAVIA’s simple, structured plans come in. GLP-1s can give you a great start but combining them with the right nutrition and personal support is what creates lasting change.
Muscle loss is a real concern on GLP-1 medications—up to 50% of the weight lost with GLP-1s can come from muscle. In just 12–18 months, the muscle loss on a GLP-1 could equal a decade’s worth of naturally occurring muscle decline*. Muscle is crucial for health, energy, and longevity, not just for looking toned. OPTAVIA created the ASCEND line to support people on GLP-1s with simple, protein-rich products. Packed with protein, fiber, and key nutrients like calcium, this program offers a science-backed plan, tools for healthy habits, and a personal coach to guide you every step of the way.

It’s 2025, and with the craziness of the holiday season behind us, many of us are looking for ways to regain our strength and tap into that New Year energy. As we look ahead, it's crucial to focus on both physical and mental well-being, which includes prioritizing exercise to start the year strong, and Planet Fitness is here to help.
Industry trends have shown that people are looking to do more strength training. Not only does it help develop muscle, but it also helps preserve muscle mass that naturally declines as we age. Stronger muscles also help with bone density and injury prevention, as they provide better joint support and overall physical stability. To help members get stronger together, Planet Fitness is starting to roll out plate-loaded equipment, including Supine Bench Presses, Hack Squats, and Seated Calf machines. They’re already in 1,700 clubs nationwide and will be in all clubs by the end of the year.
If you are looking to get back to the gym after stepping away from exercising, there are a few things to keep in mind. Start every workout with a dynamic stretching routine. That will get your blood flowing to the muscles and joints to offset injury and prepare for movements such as arm circles, leg swings, or caterpillars. It’s also important to get a complete total body workout with a strength circuit that targets various muscle groups. Lastly, finish your workout with a cardio blast to help maximize calorie burn and improve overall cardiovascular health and endurance.
For more information, visit PlanetFitness.com to find the nearest club to you. From now through January 10, join for $1 down, then $15 a month. You can cancel anytime.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/dont-let-your-nerves-keep-you-holiday-travel
‘Tis the season for holiday travel, and we know how stressful it can be, especially if you suffer from nerve discomfort. Driving to your holiday destination, walking through the airport with your luggage, the cold weather, and even wrapping presents can cause you to feel it. We have some tips from podiatrist and foot and ankle surgeon Dr. Dana Brems-Figura to help manage nerve discomfort.
Occasional nerve discomfort impacts many people. As we age, natural changes in nerve health may lead to occasional aches, weakness, and discomfort in our hands and feet, even a feeling of burning and stabbing.
Many don’t know they are experiencing occasional nerve discomfort. People often normalize their discomfort and don’t know how to articulate the feeling. For starters, Dr. Dana encourages her patients to talk about it. And to know they don’t have to suffer. She also recommends using Nervive Nerve Relief to help reduce occasional nerve discomfort.
Nervive Nerve Relief contains neurotropic B vitamins to nourish nerves, build nerve insulation, and enhance nerve communication. It also has a clinically studied amount of Alpha-Lipoic Acid based on a double-blind, placebo-controlled (DBPC) trial, which can reduce nerve discomfort by over 50% in 4 weeks and starts working in as little as 7 days.
What else can you do? The doctor says to get your body moving. Whether it's aerobic exercise like jogging or even walking, she says, it will enhance blood flow and circulation to help get nutrients to your nerves. Also, make sure to eat a balanced and healthy diet. Lastly, stay up to date on doctor visits and manage any underlying conditions you may have.
To learn more, go to Nervive’s website. You can also find it at your local retailer or wherever you usually buy your supplements.

Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/first-its-kind-medicine-approved-chronic-lung-disease
In the United States, more than 10 million people over the age of 40 live with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a chronic lung disease that limits air flow and causes breathing-related symptoms. COPD primarily affects people aged 40 and older, with current and former smokers having a higher risk of developing the disease.
Patients with COPD have various symptoms that impact their daily life, including persistent cough and breathlessness. Those living with the disease often experience exacerbations, or flare ups, of their symptoms which may reduce lung function and can impair their ability to perform routine activities such as getting dressed, walking up stairs and going to work. Each time a patient experiences an exacerbation, there may be permanent, irreversible lung damage.
Additionally, a subset of people living with COPD also have a high number of a type of white blood cell, called blood eosinophils, that can contribute to COPD. These patients may be at increased risk for exacerbations and even hospitalizations due to their condition.
Although there’s been some progress in the treatment of COPD, there has been a strong unmet need for novel treatment approaches, particularly for patients with inadequately controlled COPD and an eosinophilic phenotype. A first-of-its-kind treatment was recently approved to use with other medicines and was shown in clinical trials to help reduce COPD exacerbations, while improving patients’ ability to breathe and their health-related quality of life.
The approval of this innovative treatment provides patients, their caregivers and physicians with a new option to treat this chronic disease.
Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Michigan, Dr. MeiLan Han joined us to discuss the impact inadequately controlled COPD has on daily life and a new breakthrough treatment.

Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/new-tool-veterans-offers-proactive-approach-suicide-prevention-during-year-following
It’s National Suicide Prevention Month, and once again, Cohen Veterans Network, the non-profit network of mental health clinics for post-9/11 veterans, service members, and their families, has launched a special initiative to help.
Veterans are 1.7 times more likely to die by suicide than civilians, with the highest risk occurring during their transition from military service. To bring awareness to this critical period, Cohen Veterans Network has launched Mind the Gap: Preventing Suicide After Service. The campaign highlights the challenges veterans face during their transition from the military and provides strategies and resources for suicide prevention.
Approximately 200,000 men and women each year transition from U.S. military service to civilian life. The year following military service has been called the “Deadly Gap,” a period in which the veteran suicide rate is 2.5 times the rate among active duty military personnel.
As part of the campaign, the network has created a new interactive tool that individuals can utilize for a proactive approach to suicide prevention. The tool Speak Up: How to Address Concerns About Suicide provides suggestions about what to say and do if a loved one is exhibiting signs of emotional distress related to hopelessness, a lack of belonging, guilt, and other difficulties.
It can help empower users to effectively engage in difficult conversations and connect those at risk with the help they may need. In addition to therapy, CVN provides comprehensive case management services, which can support transitioning veterans and all clients with potential stressors such as unemployment, finances, housing, and more. These services are tailored to the unique needs of veterans and their families and offer a holistic approach to care.
Since its inception in 2016, CVN has treated more than 73,000 clients and provided more than 625,000 clinical sessions. The network treats a wide variety of mental health concerns, including transition challenges, depression, anxiety, PTSD, anger, grief and loss, family and relationship problems, and more. Care is available for the entire military family through the network’s 22 Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics, serving 20 states in person and via face-to-face video therapy.

Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/it-cold-or-allergies-heres-what-you-need-know
As the seasons change, it can be difficult to know if allergies or the common cold cause your sniffles. Board-certified in allergy and immunology, and ZYRTEC partner, Dr. Tania Elliott stopped by to share the scoop on how to effectively tell the difference and share tips to help you and your family navigate symptoms and get you back to feeling your best selves.
How do we determine if the symptoms someone is experiencing are caused by allergies or the common cold? Based on the early symptoms, it can be hard to decipher between allergies and a cold. Symptoms of both can include a runny or stuffy nose and sneezing. While you might think it’s a cold, in colder months, allergies can be triggered all year. It's important to know what you’re dealing with to ensure you get the best possible treatment.
There are three easy ways to tell the difference. First, a cold can cause a mild fever and physical discomfort. Allergies will not cause a fever or swollen lymph nodes. Second, allergy symptoms develop immediately after exposure to allergy triggers such as dander, dust, and pollen. In the fall especially, ragweed pollen is prominent across the country and a common outdoor trigger for allergy symptoms. Cold symptoms develop slower and are milder in the beginning. Lastly, cold symptoms typically last 7-10 days, while allergies can last longer and/or be recurrent if allergens are present. In fact, fall allergy season can persist until the first frost.
If you think you’re struggling with these symptoms, it's helpful to see a doctor to decide on possible treatment to relieve your symptoms. Rest, hydration, and good hygiene are all important, whether it's allergies or a cold. The first line of treatment is avoidance of triggers, so take a shower as soon as you get home to rinse off pollen, launder your clothes right away, and use an air purifier. However, if allergy symptoms persist, Dr. Elliott tells her patients they don’t need to, and shouldn’t, suffer through it. By treating your allergy symptoms, you can get back to doing the things you love, without allergy symptoms getting in the way. That’s why she recommends ZYRTEC to her patients. It’s the #1 allergist-recommended brand among OTC oral antihistamines with a wide variety of products for the whole family.
For those on-the-go, ZYRTEC Dissolve Tabs dissolve instantly in your mouth, with no water needed, and they provide fast, 24-hour relief from both indoor and outdoor allergies starting at hour 1 to help treat those allergy symptoms like runny nose, and sneezing, and itchy, watery eyes, nose and throat.
And for your kids, Children’s ZYRTEC is available in a variety of forms and flavors all of which provide 24-hour relief from indoor & outdoor allergies, suitable for ages 2+. While allergies and colds share many symptoms, antihistamines like ZYRTEC directly block the histamine molecules that trigger allergy symptoms. Cold medicines without an antihistamine are not designed for allergies, so they will not block those histamine molecules and will not be as effective if allergies are causing your symptoms.
As for colds, rest is vitally important, as well as hydration and stress reduction. When we are stressed, our immune system doesn’t work as well. Now is a great time to pick up a meditation practice or incorporate daily exercise into your routine to help prevent a cold. Talk to your healthcare provider about the right treatment option based on your cold symptoms.

What are the keys to healthy aging? Research suggests that genetics contribute only about 20% to the cellular aging process—with lifestyle (diet, exercise, and stress) playing a significant role. While you can’t change your genes, you can control your life habits. Double board-certified integrative medicine physician and founder of CentreSpringMD, Dr. Taz Bhatia, joined us to discuss why aging starts in our cells and what we should be doing.
We may think our true age is our chronological age, the number of years since birth. But the reality is that aging starts within our cells, known as our cellular or biological age. Due to factors like genetics, more importantly, lifestyle, it may not always match our chronological age.
Think of your body as a complex machine, with cells as its tiny gears and parts. Oxidative stress is a natural cellular process caused by free radicals—tiny molecules that can cause damage to cells, proteins, and DNA, which impact their efficiency and contribute to the aging process.
Luckily, our bodies have a defense system—antioxidants—that help neutralize free radicals and defend against age-related oxidative stress.
Dr. Taz always tells her patients that a healthy diet and lifestyle are important at any age. But as we age, it becomes increasingly important to support your body’s natural antioxidant defenses. So, it may sound cliché, but eating right, exercise, water, and good sleep are crucial for supporting your cellular health.
She also recommends that her patients add supplements to their healthy diet and lifestyle and has partnered with One A Day. One A Day just released Age Factor Cell Defense, which includes key ingredients that support cell health and resilience. It is formulated with antioxidants, including olive polyphenols from olive fruit extract, which help defend against oxidative stress and have been shown to make a measurable impact on biomarkers associated with cellular aging.
It also has omega-3 fatty acids, resveratrol, and vitamins B3, C, and D to help support cell resilience as you age. And One A Day goes beyond the supplement to support your healthy aging journey with the age factor ecosystem. The ecosystem includes the supplement, a free wellness app, and a saliva-based biological age test by Chronomics. The app and the test will give you valuable insights into your habits and how to make incremental changes to support your healthy aging journey.
The One A Day Age Factor Cell Defense Dietary Supplement is available online and at retailers like Walmart or Target. If you buy Age Factor on Amazon, you can claim 10% off using the code 10AGEFACTOR. Learn more about the Age Factor ecosystem and download the wellness app at shop.oneaday.com.

Approximately 1.3 million individuals enter menopause each year. It’s so important to know that menopause is not one-size-fits-all. Every person’s experience can be very different. Many of us know about hot flashes and night sweats, but there are over 34 symptoms, including unexpected ones like mood swings, memory lapses, loss of collagen in the skin, and more. Because of this, it is common for people not to realize they are entering menopause because the symptoms can be subtle and vary in intensity. Understanding your experience may differ from others is a crucial step in understanding and unlocking ways to manage symptoms.
Symptoms can be confusing and leave you feeling isolated, but resources can help you from becoming overwhelmed. The digital-first platform, VERSALIE, was created to redefine how we think and talk about health, hormones, and menopause so that individuals can better understand their bodies and confidently discover what may work best for their personal needs. The platform includes a virtual care component called VERSALIE CARE, where individuals can book one-on-one visits with experienced medical professionals trained in the most up-to-date menopausal care.
During visits, individuals can discuss menopause symptoms, hormonal and non-hormonal prescription options, and everyday care considerations such as healthy eating, exercise, stress management, and more. This piece is key to not feeling overwhelmed and isolated with your symptoms.
There’s also a plethora of products specifically designed to address menopause-related symptoms and challenges. Not only does VERSALIE have a curated storefront where you can shop by symptom, but the brand just launched its own line of skincare products clinically tested on menopausal complexions.
Using dermatologist-recommended, gentle, and effective ingredients, the brand has products that support menopause skin changes as a result of estrogen-depleted skin like loss of firmness and radiance, dryness, fine lines, and wrinkles—a great go-to for those looking to address these symptomatic changes.

August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month, and renowned trichologist and hairstylist Penny James joined us at the LifeMinute Studios to share her expert insights on maintaining healthy hair, debunking common myths about hair loss, and offering practical solutions.
Some initial signs of hair loss can be noticing more hair in your hairbrush, excess hair in the shower or bath drain, and seeing more of your scalp showing. Hair is part of our identity and contributes to our inner self-confidence. Yet hair thinning and hair loss are common, frustrating parts of life. The Viviscal Hair Growth Supplement is a clinically proven solution for those suffering from fine or thinning hair to achieve thicker, fuller hair in as little as three months with two pills daily.
For 25 years, Viviscal has been dedicated to helping its users achieve thicker, fuller-looking hair with easy solutions such as daily supplements, shampoo and conditioner, and many other great products. They are all formulated with scientifically proven ingredients like biotin, keratin, and Viviscal’s proprietary AminoMar™ collagen complex, all great for promoting hair growth.
One common myth James often encounters is that frequent shampooing causes hair loss. In reality, washing your hair regularly with a gentle shampoo can help maintain scalp health and prevent buildup, which is beneficial for hair growth. Another myth is that frequently cutting your hair makes it grow faster. While regular trims can help maintain the health of your hair by preventing split ends, they don't affect its growth rate. Additionally, many believe that hair loss is solely determined by genetics and that there is nothing you can do about it. While genetics play a role, lifestyle factors such as diet, stress, and hair care practices also influence hair health. It's essential to address these factors to promote healthy hair growth.
There are some easy things people can do to promote healthy hair and overall well-being. Incorporating essential wellness practices into your daily routine can significantly promote healthy hair and overall well-being. Firstly, maintaining a balanced diet rich in nutrients, like vitamins A, C, D, and E, and minerals like iron and zinc is crucial for supporting hair growth and strength.
Additionally, supplementing your diet with Viviscal Hair Growth Supplements can provide the necessary nutrients to nourish thinning hair and promote existing hair growth. Regular exercise not only reduces stress, which can contribute to hair loss, but it also improves circulation, delivering vital nutrients to the hair follicles. Managing stress through relaxation techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, or yoga also can have a positive impact on hair health. When it comes to hair care, use gentle products, like Viviscal Thickening Shampoo Strengthening Conditioner, which can strengthen and cleanse hair to prevent breakage for thicker-looking hair.
Finally, when it comes to hair loss, don’t feel alone. There are resources for you. Viviscal has an online community where you can ask questions, get recommendations, and learn more about products and practices that are right for you.
Always prioritize yourself, your health, and your well-being, and take the time to do the little things that make you feel good. Whether putting on extra makeup in the morning, completing a workout, or eating your favorite snack, stay positive and keep yourself happy. That ultimately translates into better health, including hair health.

Cancer is very much in the news this week following the tragic passing of actress Shannen Doherty. But for many women cancer patients and their surviving family members around the nation, a critical deadline is approaching that they may not be aware of.
Anne Andrews, a personal injury and project liability attorney, and her client Nonnie HighTower detail Nonnie’s heartbreaking story of being diagnosed with late-stage cancer after using Johnson & Johnson’s talcum powder products, like tens of thousands of others who have sued the company.
They joined us to discuss why Nonnie voted for a historic and ground-breaking multi-billion-dollar settlement plan to end years of fruitless litigation over her claim.
Next week, tens of thousands of women who contracted cancer as a result of using talcum powder will have an opportunity to vote on an $8 billion settlement plan that would resolve years of litigation. The deadline is 5 pm Eastern Time on Friday, July 26. Vote for the plan at OfficialTalcClaims.com. Claimants and potential claimants can also call 1-888-431-4056.

Many women in the U.S. are experiencing anxiety and uncertainty about their ability to manage and make decisions about their reproductive health and the healthcare options available to them today. That's why it's so important to ensure all women have access to contraception and education to help prevent unintended pregnancies and support their autonomy. Dr. Ali Rodriguez, MD, OB-GYN, joined us to fill us in on some options and where to find them.
As always, condoms are effective and widely found at local drug, grocery, and convenience stores. They also have the benefit of helping to prevent the transmission of STIs and give longer-acting contraception backup.
Cadence OTC has made it easier for couples to access Morning After Pill 24/7 at neighborhood convenience stores like 7-Eleven and Circle K so they can get emergency contraception right away after an "oops" moment without even having to wait until morning. It is called "emergency contraception" because it is time-sensitive. While it must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex, the sooner you take it, the better it works.
The Morning After Pill does not interfere with future fertility, regular birth control, or stop a current pregnancy. It prevents pregnancy completely by stopping the egg from meeting the sperm or adhering to the womb.

Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/dry-eye-awareness-month-how-alleviate-dry-eye-symptoms
Dry Eye Disease is a common eye disease that affects over 35 million Americans. It occurs when tears produced by the eyes do not keep the eyes sufficiently wet and can cause dry eye symptoms such as scratchy, burning eyes, redness, sensitivity to light or blurry vision. Dry Eye Disease can be a chronic condition that may be caused by many factors, including advanced age, contact lens wear, certain medications, eye diseases, other medical conditions, or environmental factors.
In recognition of Dry Eye Awareness Month, Dr. Priya Mathews, Director of Cornea and Ocular Surface Disease, Cataract, LASIK & Corneal Surgeon at the Center for Sight, has teamed up with REFRESH®, the #1 doctor-recommended brand with the #1 selling brand in preservative-free artificial tears.
Even though we recognize Dry Eye Awareness Month in July, the fact is that dry eye symptoms can occur at any point in the year and be caused by any number of factors. Some lifestyle and environmental factors that people should be aware of that could impact their daily eye health and/or cause dry eye symptoms include exposure to smoke, wind, or dry air blowing in the eyes from heating or air conditioning sources, as well as increased digital device screen time.
For example, for those who travel often, the air inside of airplanes can be very drying to the eyes. And for those who live active lifestyles, outdoor activities like playing sports or hiking can lead to wind or dry air exposure that can trigger dry eye symptoms. In these types of situations, it’s best to carry eye drops for use on-the-go before or after participating in these activities to get symptom relief when you need it.
People can experience temporary relief of dry eye symptoms from over the counter, or OTC, lubricating eye drops, which can help to ease dry eye symptoms. In fact, there are two new preservative-free REFRESH® products that AbbVie recently launched: REFRESH TEARS® PF and REFRESH® RELIEVA® PF XTRA.
When dry eye disease symptoms such as burning, irritation, and discomfort occur, REFRESH TEARS® PF and REFRESH® RELIEVA® PF XTRA can help to deliver temporary relief, but these eye drops are not a treatment, solution, or cure for dry eye disease. Both products come in soft squeeze, multidose bottles offering enhanced convenience and feature a double lockout system that keeps the drops sterile. They also both include AbbVie’s HydroCell® Technology, which is a proprietary NaCl-free glycerin-based solution that enables rehydration and maintains the volume of cells on the eye’s surface.
For those with sensitive eyes, there are preservative-free options like REFRESH TEARS® PF and REFRESH® RELIEVA® PF XTRA, which are formulated to help deliver temporary relief for dry eye disease symptoms such as burning, irritation, and discomfort, but are not a treatment, solution, or cure for dry eye disease. Preservative-free options are recommended for those with sensitive and more intense symptoms of dry eye. These types of eye drops are suited for those who need to use them more than 4 times per day.
Find these at Walmart in stores and online as well as online at Amazon as well as in store and online at other retail locations nationwide wherever over-the-counter eye drops are sold.
If you’re experiencing dry eye symptoms and are looking for a solution for symptom relief, visit RefreshEyeDrops.com or talk to your eye doctor about what option might be right for you.

One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime, and 90% of those cancers are melanoma, the deadliest type. But the good news is it is treatable if detected early. In fact, the five-year survival rate is 99%.
On a mission to spread that message, longtime leaders in sun protection, skincare brand La Roche-Posay in partnership with TDS, the dermatologist specialists of New York City were offering free head to toe skin cancer screenings to the public.
The brand says they’ve helped facilitate more than half a million skin exams by board certified dermatologists over the last ten years. Events like these, they say, help provide access to someone who may not visit a dermatologist regularly or have access to one.
The team says more than 90% of skin cancers are caused by sun exposure and the sun’s harmful rays can penetrate even through glass, so that means no matter where you are or what you’re doing, if you’re exposed to sunlight you need to protect your skin and remember – every day is a sunscreen day.

Spring has sprung and with it, allergy season is in full bloom. Dr. Tania Elliott, M.D., board-certified in allergy and immunology chatted with us about the do’s and don'ts to empower the one in four Americans that live with allergies.
For starters you need to figure out what’s causing your symptoms. It can be difficult to tell if the symptoms you are experiencing are allergies, so patients may not treat it with the right medication. Common symptoms of allergies are sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery eyes and itching of the nose or throat.
And if your symptoms are from allergies, don’t forget to treat at first sign of symptoms with an oral antihistamine like ZYRTEC. Dr. Tania Elliott always recommends ZYRTEC to her patients because it provides a full 24 hours of indoor and outdoor allergy relief, and it starts working hard at hour 1 and stays strong day after day.
Something else you should do is keep your home clean so that pollen or other allergens are not settling into your carpeting, furniture or bedding, which can trigger symptoms even if you’re not spending too much time outside. You can also keep the windows closed and the air conditioning on so that when you are ready to get outside, you’re not already suffering from pollen that snuck inside.
And on that note, don’t forget that springtime is supposed to be fun! Embrace the benefits of spending time outdoors with your friends and family when you can. If your kids are suffering from allergies this season, don’t forget to give them a shower as soon as they get home. You don’t want to wait until the evening or (even worse) the morning. If you do, they can track pollen into their beds at night and sleep on what they are allergic to.
When your little ones appear sick, keep an eye out for eye rubbing or nose rubbing (aka the “allergic salute”), as these can be signs of allergies. If you notice any of these signs, consider an OTC allergy medicine like Children’s ZYRTEC Chewables, which are a great tasting, dye-free chewable that provides powerful allergy relief that stays strong day after day for the whole family.
To learn more, check out ZyrTalk on zyrtec.com, which is a great resource that is helping make the science behind allergies fun and easy for anyone to understand.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/spring-clean-your-oral-routine
Spring is upon us and there is more to clean than just your home. Even your oral care routine can use a refresh. Here are some tips for those who are hoping to do just that.
There’s more to oral care than just brushing and flossing. An oral rinse is a crucial step to a healthy mouth due to its ability to kill bacteria. A good dental care routine is key to achieving total wellness, and poor oral hygiene can lead to gum disease. Consistent brushing and use of oral rinses in the morning and before bedtime, along with regular flossing, are essential practices for maintaining a healthy mouth. Just as you prioritize your annual physical or consult with medical specialists, it's crucial to schedule regular dental check-ups every six months as well. These appointments not only entail professional cleanings from a hygienist but also ensure that your oral health is at its best.
To refresh your smile for spring make sure to brush and floss twice a day; use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Brushing and flossing help remove plaque, bacteria, and food particles that can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Don't forget to use an oral rinse regularly, too. Eat fibrous foods (fruits and veggies) daily to remove bacteria from mouth, help hydration and deter dry mouth. Ensure that your balanced diet includes vitamins C, D, and E. Stimulate salivary flow with sugar-free mints, lozenges, or gum.
TheraBreath, created by a dentist over 20 years ago has an all-new Deep Clean Oral Rinse with antiseptic benefits to incorporate in your daily routine, all while preserving their signature alcohol-free formula across their oral rinses. This rinse also effectively kills 99.9% of germs that cause bad breath, plaque, and gingivitis. Available in a new Fresh Mint flavor, Deep Clean Oral Rinse provides a minty fresh taste. Additionally, hit snooze on morning breath with the TheraBreath Overnight Oral Rinse, which is intended for nighttime use and is an anticavity fluoride rinse that fights bad breath for 12 hours*.
Go to therabreath.com to learn more about these rinses, and they are available for purchase at major retailers such as Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS Pharmacy in addition to Amazon.

Spring is around the corner, and while you're focusing on getting into spring shape, don't forget your brain. Here are some tips, tools, and regimens you need to know about on how to improve your brain game.
It’s so important to establish a routine to support brain health. Many people don't realize its impact on improving memory, focus, and even mood. There are simple things you can do for your brain every day by incorporating easy habits into your daily routine. Start each day by taking Neuriva, a brain health supplement. When taken routinely, these supplements support up to seven brain health indicators: memory, focus, learning, concentration, accuracy, reasoning, and mental alertness.
There are three varieties of Neuriva. First, the Original is a clinically studied formula designed to support five indicators of brain health: memory, learning, focus, accuracy, and concentration. All three Neuriva supplements have the rockstar ingredient, Neurofactor, a whole coffee cherry extract, and plant-sourced phosphatidylserine. These ingredients have five clinical trials behind them to aid in neuronal health and fuel memory and learning ability.
Next, there’s Neuriva Plus, which has 2x the amount of Neurofactor and plenty of B Vitamins to support reasoning. Finally, there’s Neuriva Ultra, which features the five-time clinically tested hero ingredient Cognivive supporting mental alertness. Find Neuriva at your local pharmacy.
To compliment Neuriva, play their brain games. They launched a 30-day Brain Health Challenge full of simple and fun brain games that help enhance cognitive potential by establishing a brain-healthy routine. The daily games help with memory, learning, accuracy, focus, concentration, reasoning, and mental alertness. Signing up is easy. Download the Neuriva Brain Gym app, and you'll see them all.
What else should we be doing? Physical exercise—start with 20 minutes of movement you love most days, drink plenty of water, get your sleep, and be mindful of what you eat. Try the MIND diet for brain health, which focuses on leafy greens, berries, nuts, olive oil, whole grains, and lean proteins.

Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/what-do-survive-cold-and-flu-season
As colder weather sets in and we return from holiday travel and gatherings to the office with colleagues, we also face the annual cold and flu season. To get us through this time of year, here are some effective ways to stay healthy and ready ourselves for the challenges of the cold and flu season.
Do not underestimate the importance of hydration, rest, a full night’s sleep, and reducing stress. Eat foods high in quercetin, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, like blueberries, citrus fruits, apples, broccoli, and raw onion. Get enough zinc to decrease the risk of developing viral infections. About 15% of the population has a zinc deficiency, increasing the risk of developing viral infections. Foods high in zinc include meat, shellfish, and legumes like chickpeas, lentils, and beans.
If you feel yourself coming down with a cold, look for products with naturally occurring ingredients like manuka honey, and take zinc-based products as soon as symptoms appear. Consider homeopathic remedies like Zicam RapidMelts and Medicated Fruit Drops, which leverage zinc to help shorten colds. For a zinc-free alternative, explore Zicam Nasal Swabs, utilizing a plant-based homeopathic formula to reduce the duration of the common cold. Keeping allergies at bay is also important, as uncontrolled allergies trigger increased mucus production, fostering an environment ripe for viral and bacterial growth. Zicam’s No-Drip Liquid Nasal Spray, a non-drowsy formulation, provides relief of allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and sinus pressure.

Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/preparing-cough-cold-and-flu-season
Individuals in the US are estimated to suffer 1 billion colds each year. Family physician Dr. Leslie Gonzalez can help you get prepared for cold, cough, and flu season, from what to have ready in your medicine cabinet to tips on how to stay healthy this winter.
Now that cold, cough, and flu season is upon us, we know children can easily and often get sick. What can we do to get ahead of this? One thing you can do is support your immune system by taking vitamins and improving your child's bedtime routine. To help little ones transition to bedtime, Dr. Gonzalez recommends solutions with effective and wholesome ingredients like calming chamomile and natural honey, which can be found in Zarbee's Gentle Bedtime products. They're great because they come in multiple formats, like a melatonin-free gummy and a syrup.
Zarbee’s also offers a calming, gentle bedtime room spray with lavender and chamomile, which helps kids relax and unwind as they prepare for bedtime.
Sometimes, despite our best efforts, our kids still get sick. First and foremost, you should always talk to your doctor. One of Dr. Gonzalez's favorite hacks is to turn your bathroom into a steam room. If your child is experiencing a cough, the warm, moist air can help clear nasal pathways and relieve discomfort.
If your child is experiencing a fever, the good news is there are many different ways to treat it. First, you can use a cold compress to cool their body. And remember to give them lots of fluids to avoid dehydration. Then, two key ingredients can reduce a fever — acetaminophen and ibuprofen.
Acetaminophen can be found in medicines like Children’s Tylenol or Infants' Tylenol. These products can start reducing fever in as little as 15 minutes. If your child is under two years of age, ask a doctor before using Infants' Tylenol. It's helpful these medicines come in various formats, from liquids in flavors like grape, cherry, or bubble gum to dissolve packs and even chewables.
Ibuprofen can be found in Children’s and Infants’ Motrin. In addition to reducing fever, Children’s Motrin can relieve minor aches and pains. And it lasts up to eight hours. For important product information, always read and follow the product label before use.
Now, for adults, just like kids, if you are experiencing a fever, consider acetaminophen or ibuprofen. For fast pain relief, Dr. Gonzalez recommends Tylenol Rapid Release Gels, which contain acetaminophen.
For a runny nose and sneezing, we first need to know if it’s from a cold or allergies. Allergy symptoms usually flare up when exposed to allergens you are most sensitive to and cause symptoms such as itchy eyes, nose, or throat. To identify the allergens that bother you, pay attention when experiencing these symptoms. With a cold, people typically experience a wet cough and potentially run a fever. Allergies don’t cause fevers, which is a primary difference to look for.
The good news is the ingredient diphenhydramine can relieve a runny nose or sneezing, whether from allergies or the common cold. This effective allergy and cold relief can be found in Benadryl Allergy Ultratabs, which are effective day or night.
Also, look for a decongestant like pseudoephedrine that targets sinus pressure and congestion. This can be found in products like Zyrtec-D and Sudafed Sinus Congestion. You can find them behind the pharmacy counter.
For more information on ingredients, dosing, and tips for making the most of your health, go to healthinhand.org.

Supplement: RepHresh Urinary Tract Health + Immune Support Supplement
Let's talk about taking care of your insides. The wonderful RepHresh, which makes great feminine care products, has recently launched the RepHresh Urinary Tract Health + Immune Support Supplement that you can get on Amazon. This daily supplement helps reduce the risk of recurring urinary tract infections (UTIs). And you know, if you have ever had one, they can be painful, so if there is a possibility of preventing it, help yourself. Some evidence shows by consuming 500 mg per day of cranberry dietary supplement, healthy women who have had a UTI can reduce their risk of having another one. One serving of RepHresh (2 capsules a day) is 500 mg of whole cranberry fruit powder. Plus, they have vitamin D and zinc for immune support.
Eyes: Biotrue Hydration Boost Eye Drops
Our eyes are an often-overlooked part of our self-care routine, so these are fabulous for irritated, dry eyes. The Biotrue Hydration Boost Eye Drops give your eyes instant moisture and relief and help them feel hydrated throughout the day. It uses a pH-balanced, preservative formula inspired by the biology of the eye, with ingredients like hyaluronan, a moisturizer found naturally in tears, an electrolyte, and an antioxidant. Find Biotrue at most mass retailers.
Some other tips? Of course, you should keep your body hydrated too. Drink more water or try some green tea, which is good for you. Make a few healthier eating choices, even if you can just cut out some processed foods. It makes a big difference.
Surround yourself with things that make you happy—and feel zen—and take that 10-20 minutes out of your day to stop and breathe (in through the nose and out the mouth). If you can get out and walk in nature, it can help you mentally and physically. Keep it simple — small tasks equal big rewards. Sometimes, when an assignment is too big, we may give up, so make little lifestyle changes to better yourself, and soon enough, you can take on more and more, and it gets bigger and better.

August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month, and 80% of Americans are affected by hair loss. The first FDA-approved over-the-counter topical hair loss treatment Rogaine is celebrating its 35th-anniversary helping people with thinning hair. Why is it the #1 derm-recommended brand? Because it works on contact using 5% of the magical ingredient minoxidil, the only ingredient that stimulates hair regrowth in topical form. And it counteracts the effects of hair loss by increasing protein production and revitalizing the hair follicles so you can regrow thicker, fuller hair. It works in as little as 12 weeks and has no scent.
Easy to use, apply half a capful of foam once or twice a day on dry or damp towel-dried hair, and gently massage it into the scalp where the hair is thinning. Allow the foam to absorb; then air dry completely before blow-drying or styling it.
Get it on Amazon, Target, rogaine.com, and most mass drugstores (including CVS and Walgreens). The women’s two-month supply is $28.99, and the men’s is $51.99 for three months.
Now for other ways to protect your hair: Don’t brush your hair when wet. Be gentle when using a comb. Also, use mild, gentle shampoos and leave-in conditioners. Avoid harsh treatments like bleaching and dying. Don’t use rubber bands or tie your hair back too tightly. Stress can play a factor, so take care of yourself and keep your stress levels in check. Of course, genetics or health can be a factor, so get checked out if you’ve noticed a lot of hair loss.

Multiple studies have shown that laughter and joy can improve mood, curb anxiety and depression, relieve pain, and mitigate the negative effects of stress. Now, Comfort Keepers, a leading provider of in-home care for seniors and adults in need of assistance, will celebrate their fifth annual National Day of Joy on June 28 to encourage and inspire seniors to find joy in everyday moments.
They also surveyed to find out what makes seniors happy. Their findings show 71% cite family, and 26% say good weather. They also say exercising, listening to music from their youth, new music, and simply smiling. In addition, watching current tv shows, trying new activities, and following food trends. A whopping 63% said they use social media every single day.
And we all know the most valuable advice usually comes from our elders. What did they say the younger generation should do? Be a good person, learn from the mistakes of others, and stay true to yourself.
Pretty sound advice. The study also found some other interesting tidbits. Most seniors (73%) believe it’s never too late to find your true love in life, with 26% admitting to having tried a dating app. However, 86% would go back in time if they could. More than half say they would do so to make better decisions, spend more time with loved ones, and relive all their happiest moments.

The good news is that treatment options for schizophrenia are available. It’s important to talk to your healthcare provider about which treatment approach might be right for you. One way to receive schizophrenia treatment you might not know about is a long-acting injectable or LAI. An LAI is an injection given by a healthcare provider and can last weeks or months depending on the medication chosen. It’s Melanoma Monday and Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Since 2010, the skincare brand, La Roche-Posay, has been on a mission to educate the public about the importance of sun safety. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. La Roche-Posay, in partnership with Schweiger Dermatology Group, will offer free skin cancer screenings to the public in New York City on Monday, May 1. La Roche-Posay plans to conduct over 1000 skin checks and hand out full-size sunscreen samples, hats, beach totes, and other goodies, all to educate the public about sun safety and skin cancer prevention. The brand hopes to break the Guinness World Records for the most skin cancer screenings in one day.
When detected early, the 5-year survival rate for melanoma is 99%. A skin check is essential for detecting suspicious moles that may be cancerous. La Roche-Posay has a long history of supporting skin check events through its annual SOS Save Our Skin campaign.
Over the last ten years, La Roche-Posay worldwide has helped facilitate more than 540,000 skin exams by board-certified dermatologists. Events like this help provide access to someone who may not visit a dermatologist regularly or be aware that they need to get their moles checked annually. This year alone and worldwide, they aim to achieve 350,000 skin cancer checks.
We know that 90% of skin cancers, including melanoma (the most deadly type of skin cancer), are caused by sun exposure. That means you can make meaningful changes to protect yourself and those you love from hearing the words: you have skin cancer.
So what else should we be doing to protect ourselves? First, check for suspicious spots before the sun season starts. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every time you are exposed to the sun, and reapply it every two hours, even more so when in the water. Incorporating sun protection into your daily routine is easier than you think. Wear a hat and sunglasses, because you can get melanoma in your eyes too.
For every skin cancer screening conducted, La Roche-Posay will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society. For more info on sun safety, visit laroche-posay.us/saveourskin.
Spring is here and that means more time outdoors with our beloved pets. This also means potential risk for parasitic diseases transmitted by ticks and mosquitos which can be deadly to pets and harmful to humans. Parasite infections are real and the risk is higher than ever. How to keep everyone safe? Veterinarians and members of the Companion Animal Parasite Council Dr. Rick Marrinson and Dr. Kathryn Sarpong share the findings from the 2023 National Parasite Forecast and how to protect your pets.
The Companion Animal Parasite Council, or CAPC, is a non-profit board made up of veterinary parasitologists and practitioners. Their mission is to inform veterinarians and educate pet families about parasitic diseases that threaten the health of pets and their people. Every month, in alignment with that mission, CAPC publishes 30-day pet parasite forecasts at petdiseasealerts.org. These are prediction maps, much like weather or pollen forecasts and highlight the parasite risks down to the county level. Additionally, every April CAPC releases its annual National Parasite Forecast. This year they are emphasizing the risks of Lyme disease.
The big news from the 2023 annual forecast is that the risk of Lyme disease is on the rise and has spread into new parts of the country. All the areas of red and orange on the map indicate high levels of Lyme disease. Lyme disease is considered zoonic, which means it is a disease that can affect both animals and people. In many ways, dogs are the indicator for human disease. Far more dogs than humans are tested each year for Lyme disease, so we have much more data about the amount of Lyme in dogs. But research by CAPC’s parasitologists has proven that the incidence of disease in dogs, parallels Lyme disease in humans.
The forecast map speaks directly to the risk for both dogs and people. It is also important to understand that people cannot catch Lyme disease directly from their dog, or vice versa. The bacteria that causes Lyme must come through the bite of an infected tick. To protect our dogs and ourselves talk to your veterinarian at least once a year for testing and advice. They’re the local experts who can best advise you on infectious diseases for your specific circumstances. Fortunately, there are very effective vaccines, great testing, and safe anti-tick medications to prevent infection. Vaccines are great to consider in all endemic and emerging areas for Lyme disease. And the medications keep your dog from bringing live ticks into your house and exposing you. This is important year-round. If you protect your dog from Lyme disease, you are helping to protect your family.
CAPC also reminds you to see your veterinarian, to test your pets for parasites annually, to vaccinate when appropriate, and to maintain pets on year-round parasite preventive medications.
Visit petdiseasealerts.org for more information and to view the parasite forecast maps, which allow you to monitor parasite activity in your county and in areas you might be traveling to.

If you think allergy season seems to start earlier every year AND last longer, you are not alone. Spring pollen and lingering winter allergens like dust and mold can impact your quality of life. ZYRTEC partner Dr. Leslie Gonzalez joined us to educate allergy sufferers about symptoms and how to beat them.
So, what are seasonal allergies, and what triggers them? Allergies result from a chain reaction of chemicals that release histamine in response to allergen exposure resulting in the symptoms that many commonly experience, like sneezing, itchy eyes, nose, and throat, and a runny nose. The most common triggers are allergens such as pollen, dust, pet dander, grass clippings, and fungal spores which can be found inside and outside.
We associate spring with allergies because they are the most common and severe this time of year since pollen is present only in spring. But many still suffer from lingering winter allergens like dust, dander, and mold, so allergies have become a year-round occurrence for many. This longer and stronger allergy season is partly due to weather changes, such as more extended stretches of freeze-free days in winter months and expanded growing seasons for plants, which gives them more time to release allergy-causing irritants.
To deal with changing allergies, Dr. Gonzalez recommends ZYRTEC as a go-to solution because it effectively treats symptoms caused by indoor and outdoor allergens. ZYRTEC starts working at hour 1 and provides a full 24 hours of prescription-strength relief so allergy sufferers can enjoy the day without worrying about their allergy symptoms getting in the way. Also, allergy symptoms can get even worse if left untreated. ZYRTEC is effective. And it is the #1 allergist-recommended brand among OTC oral antihistamines. ZYRTEC, and lifestyle changes, can provide powerful relief to those suffering. It comes in tablets, liquid gels, and chewable form, which are convenient because you don’t need water. The chewable also comes in a kid-friendly version for children with seasonal allergies.
For other tips to conquer allergies, try staying indoors when it is windy outside because pollen and dust in the air will trigger your allergies. The best time to go outdoors is after a good rain, which helps remove pollen from the air. Also, wipe or wash your face throughout the day to help keep it clear of pollen, dust, dirt, and other allergens. If you’ve been outside for a long time, removing shoes upon entering the house, changing clothes, and showering before bed, are all good ways to minimize allergens in the home.

Oral Health Day is Monday and a lot of people don’t realize just how important a healthy smile is and how bad plaque bacteria can be for your oral health. It’s the root cause of many oral health problems, including bad breath, cavities, weakened enamel, tooth decay and early gum disease.
It’s crucial to help stop problems such as gingivitis and cavities before they start by reducing plaque bacteria and preventing its growth with daily brushing. So, like anything else, it's all about getting ahead and staying ahead, which is why Colgate is doubling down on proactive care, with new Colgate Total Plaque Pro-Release Toothpaste, their newest innovation formulated by Colgate scientists.
Brush with it every day to dissolve and lift away gum-harming plaque to help stop oral health problems like gingivitis and cavities before they start, so you can be dentist-ready and confident going into your next visit. After six months of twice daily brushing, it is clinically proven to result in two times less gum-harming plaque compared to regular fluoride toothpaste.
It’s uniquely formulated with SmartFoam Technologywhich penetrates hard to reach places to fight plaque bacteria along the gum line and in between teeth, improving long term gum health and strengthening the foundation of a healthy smile.
Keep an eye out for plaque pro-release next time you’re getting toothpaste - you can get it at major retailers including Walmart, CVS, Amazon and more.

The clocks have been moved forward. And we are in the midst of Sleep Awareness Month. This is a great reminder to prioritize sleep because it's essential to overall wellness.
Beauty sleep is no joke. A recent survey by OnePoll for Serta Simmons bedding revealed that more than a third of Americans believe a new or better mattress could help them get a better night's sleep. We are huge fans of the Beautyrest premium mattress collection. It’s a gorgeous black and delivers an exceptional sleep experience. And luxury isn’t just in the look. It's also in the feel. The Beautyrest Black targeted zoned support system reduces motion transfer while providing support where you need it most. It also has cooling technology, which is plant-based, to keep you cool and comfortable through the night. Learn more about it at beautyrest.com.
A good dry shampoo is a must when you are limited in time and running around. The science-led haircare brand OLAPLEX has just come out with a new dry shampoo that works called No.4D Clean Volume Detox. If you didn't know, OLAPLEX was the #1 selling Prestige hair care brand last year and so far, according to NPD, this year too. They are the Original Bond Builder which single-handedly created the Bond Building category. They have an exclusive patented technology which is the main ingredient in all of their products, that relinks the disulfide bonds in the hair, which are the most important hair bonds to repair for the strength and health of the hair. The new dry shampoo formula also contains an ultra-fine micro starch from brown rice that won't leave a powdery residue on the hair. It absorbs dirt, oil, and sweat and detoxifies the scalp with rambutan seed, an antioxidant without clogging pores. Use it instantly to refresh hair in-between wash days, or apply it on clean, dry hair to add volume. It's weightless, leaving no grit or powdery residue – even on dark hair and clothes which is key. It's $30 at sephora.com.

It’s Brain Awareness Week, so what can we do to support brain health? Just as you work out your body and support it with nutrition, do the same for your brain. Lifestyle has a profound impact on brain health. In addition to Brain Awareness Week, it’s also Sleep Awareness Week. Sleep is crucial. Daylight saving time has just begun. During this time, change can often be disruptive to daily routines and sleep patterns, so it’s important to try to get a good night’s sleep, which does wonders for your brain.
Exercise is also key. Allow time for daily movement – at least 30 minutes – in any form, from hikes to high-intensity interval workouts. Drink lots of water – about eight glasses a day – and eat nutrient-rich foods like spinach, kale, walnuts, and berries.
If you’re unable to get the nutrients you need from food alone, supplements are a great addition. We love Neuriva. They are decaffeinated, GMO-free, and gluten-free. And they include NeuroFactor, a decaffeinated botanical fruit extract made from coffee cherry that has been shown to support connections between neurons. It includes phosphatidylserine and vitamin B, essential for brain function.
To learn more, check out the Neuriva website and Instagram @neuriva for brain training games. Tips and tricks will be posted all week long.

This past winter, Degree Deodorant commissioned a study that surveyed thousands of people across the country on their experiences with sweat. The study explored a range of topics such as: unique and relatable moments that are likely to trigger sweat, what compromises people make due to sweating, and how people would live without limits if they could manage their sweat, and the results were astounding...
Two thirds of Americans experience heavy or anxious sweat, three in four anxious sweaters anticipate feeling just as stressed in 2023, or it even getting worse, and four in five anxious sweaters admitted they have avoided doing something because they were worried about sweat and they would live their life differently if they could better control their sweat.
To help deal with the issues Unlimited by Degree introduced a breakthrough, patented antiperspirant Smart Adapt technology, which creates a flexible microbarrier that responds to sweat from movement, heat and stress for ultimate odor + sweat protection (up to 96 hours.) It’s available in two formats - an invisible solid antiperspirant deodorant and a dry spray – and five gender-neutral fragrances (Bold, Clean, Fresh, Marine, Neutral.)
The Unlimited by Degree Dry Spray is the most effective dry spray ever as it’s the only antiperspirant with Smart Adapt technology in the category; and their invisible solid antiperspirants offer superior sweat protection vs. the #1 clinical soft solid product in the category.

It’s 2023, and with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season behind us, many are experiencing low energy and fatigue. As we look ahead to the New Year, it’s more important now than ever to prioritize your physical and mental well-being – including making time for fitness, which can boost your overall energy. With a fresh New Year officially underway, National Lead Trainer at Planet Fitness Teddy Savage joined us to share tips and tricks to keep you motivated and find your Big Fitness Energy in the New Year and beyond.
The New Year serves as an opportunity to renew our focus – now more than ever – and there’s nothing more meaningful for what we all need now than making health and wellness a priority. Let’s face it – coming out of the pandemic and the hustle and bustle from the holidays have left many struggling with low energy, or ‘Low E’ as we call it. Exercise and a great workout can boost one’s energy and mood, improve sleep and even reduce the risk of anxiety and depression.
A recent Planet Fitness survey found 72 million people suffer from low energy. Of them, 89% reported that they’d give up things like online shopping (40%), social media (36%), and caffeine (33%) for a year if they could have more energy. Exercise can help remedy low energy, and daily activity can help reduce stress and alleviate anxiety, but routine functional movement can help keep you out of the fog altogether.
Exercise reduces levels of the body’s stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It also stimulates the production of endorphins in the brain, which are the body’s natural painkillers and mood elevators. Fitness is an essential component of overall well-being. And Planet Fitness continues to provide a safe, Judgement Free environment for our members, allowing them to find their Big Fitness Energy.
Some good fitness tips to get you started? First, begin every workout with a dynamic stretching routine. Get your blood flowing to your muscles and joints to offset injury and prepare for movement. Example movements include trunk twists and bend and reaches. Next, get a total body workout with a strength circuit that targets various muscle groups, including weighted machines. Lastly, end your workout with a cardio blast to help maximize calorie burn and improve overall cardiovascular health and endurance.
Planet Fitness is known as the Judgement Free Zone, offering an atmosphere that is welcoming and non-intimidating – appealing to all fitness levels, including those who maybe have never entered a gym or are seasoned fitness pros. Right now, through Thursday, January 12, you can join for $1 down, then $10 a month, and cancel anytime. Visit PlanetFitness.com to check out your nearest club.

Today in America, millions of kids woke up this morning without access to the basics many of us take for granted: a toothbrush and toothpaste. Too many kids are forced to use their fingers or washcloths. Or go without them. Kids should not have to brush their teeth this way.
It’s part of a much bigger problem – underserved kids don’t get the oral health care they need. Kids from low-income families are 2x as likely to suffer from tooth decay. And millions of them live with untreated tooth decay and completely preventable issues. Crest and Oral-B call this the Smile Gap and have created a new campaign to bring awareness to this harsh reality and get toothbrushes and toothpaste into the hands of every kid who needs them.
Beginning November 1 (National Brush Day) and throughout November, you can help out by joining Crest and Oral-B in closing America’s Smile Gap. With each product purchased, Crest and Oral-B will donate to a child in need. Follow the journey at crest.com.

By 2025, there will be more than 1 billion women experiencing menopause in the world. That's equivalent to 12% of the entire world population of 8 billion. Although menopause impacts such a large group of the population – many women are left without the educational resources they need to learn about this new life stage and its impact on the body.
In honor of World Menopause Day, we examine the taboo and unexpected skin changes that come with this change of life. We also offer tips and tricks to battle these changes, including the science-backed skincare brand No7 Menopause skincare line targeting the six key signs of menopausal skin aging, co-created with 7,000 menopausal women.
Menopause is a topic that society tends to shy away from, but we shouldn't. As a culture, we need more educational information about what happens to our skin as it ages, especially during menopause. The skin changes in three major ways during this transitional period.
The first is collagen loss. Studies show that the skin experiences 30% collagen loss during the first five years of menopause. The next is dry skin. Skin loses its ability to retain water as you age, so it gets extremely dry/sensitive. And lastly, hot flashes cause aging, redness, dullness, loss of radiance, fine lines, and wrinkles.
However, there are skincare solutions on the market for women in menopause. No7 Menopause skincare collection was co-created with 7,000 menopausal women. It costs so much less than other luxe products, but it works. It's also easy to find online and in-store at your local Walgreens.
Some of our favorites from the line include the Instant Radiance Serum, which works in one week to improve the appearance of collagen-depleted skin.
Protect & Hydrate Day Cream SPF 30 provides proven 72-hour hydration for sensitive skin, and the Nourishing Overnight Cream is packed with ceramides and peptides. The line also includes the Firm & Eye Brightening eye cream and Instant Cooling Mist to relieve hot flashes symptoms.

We all want to get healthy, but the big question for many is, where do you start? Pilates may be the answer. The classic workout is making a significant comeback. We chat all about it with Robin Long, a Pilates innovator and founder of Lindywell, a new lifestyle program with Pilates at its core.
Pilates is having a moment right now, and people are catching on to its benefits, which include building core strength, relieving chronic pain, lowering stress, and improving mobility. Robin loves what Joseph Pilates said: “If your spine is stiff at 30, you are old. If it is flexible at 60, you are young.”
Pilates has benefits for all ages and all abilities, and you only need 15 minutes a day. It’s one of the best-kept secrets, and now it's more accessible.
Robin created Lindywell because she felt something was missing in the world of health and fitness. “I struggled with my own body image," she said. "I could not stick with a regular routine. And I knew I wasn't alone. So eight years ago, I created an online Pilates platform to provide a new way of thinking and living that doesn't require so much sacrifice or shaming.”
Lindywell embodies "Grace over Guilt" when it comes to our bodies and our workouts. A lot of people feel guilty they can't stick with a healthy routine and feel overwhelmed and stuck in their lives. Lindywell takes a more personalized approach. One that embraces positivity and realism to help eliminate the guilt.
Lindywell is offering a 30-day trial starting on October 3rd. Sign up at lindywell.com to get started.

The fall allergy season is upon us. Here are the tips, tricks, and the latest must-haves to take charge of allergy symptoms and find relief fast. So, what can we do to help ourselves when allergies hit quickly in the fall? Fall allergies are usually due to weed and ragweed in late summer and early fall and mold in late fall as leaves and branches accumulate. As warmer temperatures extend into September, this can lead to the potential for longer and more intense allergy seasons.
The first thing you can do is check allergen counts before you leave the house so you can plan your day and manage your symptoms. For those that suffer from allergies, we know they can hit fast and hard, so make sure you’re prepared early for the season. ZYRTEC AllergyCast app is a great option to help track pollen in your area and better understand your allergy symptoms. You can download it on the App Store and Google Play. Try to avoid outdoor activities for prolonged periods on those days.
Different pollens in the fall season can create a multitude of allergy symptoms, so be mindful of this when you consider outdoor exercise. And, of course, if you are outside, you should keep your allergy medication on hand. You can try the over-the-counter brand ZYRTEC. The brand just came out with new Dye-Free Chewables, which are just as effective as the tablet and liquid options, but now easier to take while on the go (no water needed), and they provide a full, 24 hours of relief in just one chew. They’re available for adults and children ages two and older.
You’ll feel relief with ZYRTEC Chewables on day one and even stronger relief on day two from symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, and itching of the nose and throat. It works for indoor or outdoor triggers, such as dust and pollen, all year round. Plus, you can find them nationwide in-store or online at mass retailers, grocery stores, and Amazon.
Another tip is to consider wearing protective items like sunglasses or a hat. They provide layers of protection against different allergens in the air and keep pollen out of the eyes and hair, which can help mitigate symptoms.
Also, fall activities such as pumpkin picking, apple picking, and fall sports for kids might lead to exposure to outdoor fall mold spores, so make sure to wipe off items once you bring them home.
Lastly, at the end of any day, when coming in, leave your shoes at the door, change your clothing, shower and rinse out your nose gently with saline spray. Also, consider a HEPA-certified air purifier in the bedroom to avoid nighttime exposure to allergens that drift in from outside. Remember, there are measures you can take right now to get ahead of the fall allergy season, which is already here.

With BBQ and entertaining season upon us, “America’s Bad Breath Doctor," Dr. Harold Katz, stopped by the LifeMinute studios to talk about the foods and drinks that can cause bad breath and the best stuff to fix it.
What bacteria causes bad breath? Anaerobic, sulfur-producing bacteria breed beneath the tongue's surface and often in the throat and tonsil area. The term "anaerobic" means living without oxygen. Anaerobic bacteria do not require oxygen to live. They occur naturally in the oral environment and aid in digestion by breaking down proteins into amino acids. As bacteria feast on proteins in the mouth, sulfur compounds are released from the back of the tongue and throat. Chemicals such as cadaverine and putrescine are produced in the process, both of which smell very bad.
Dr. Harold Katz created TheraBreath advanced oral care products to combat bad breath to help his teenage daughter, who suffered from it. TheraBreath doesn't mask bad breath with heavy flavors or powerful odors like other products on the market. Instead, it uses the power of oxygen to target bad-breath-causing bacteria.
While he was here, the doctor bit into an onion and then breathed into a Halimeter machine to measure the amount of sulfur before and after swishing with the TheraBreath mouthwash to show its effectiveness.
Check out TheraBreath's advanced oral care products, such as mouthwash, toothpaste, sugar-free chewing gum, and more, at Therabreath.com.

Cataracts are more common than you think -- 50% of people in the U.S. over the age of 75 have them. Cataracts are the leading cause of preventable blindness worldwide, impacting more than 94 million people. Here’s some advice for the 25 million Americans that have the condition.
Soccer all-star Megan Rapinoe has teamed up with Schmidt's deodorant in celebration of the brand's birthday this month for the Quit with Schmidt's campaign showing us how quitting can be positive when guided by self-fulfillment.
Rapinoe said as an athlete and someone who always aspires to be her best self, you hear a lot that quitting is not an option. But, she shared, "oftentimes it can be a pursuit of self-fulfillment." 12 years ago, Schmidt’s founder Jaime Schmidt made the courageous decision to quit her nine-to-five job and created a natural deodorant free from ingredients like aluminum salts, parabens, and artificial fragrances, in favor of natural ingredients that worked.
Inspired by Jaime’s story and in celebration of Schmidt’s upcoming birthday this month, the campaign aims to change the perception of quitting in our culture for the better by celebrating folks who have shown the courage to quit what doesn’t serve them in pursuit of what does.
As part of the campaign, Schmidt's had anInstagram contest asking people to submit their personal quitting stories for a chance to receive both a $1,500 gift card for a weekend retreat to take the time and space to reconnect with what fulfills them and a year’s supply of Schmidt’s products. The named three winners will also participate in a "Schmidt’s Quitters Club" video chat with Rapinoe and Jaime Schmidt.

They’ve launched a campaign to further amplify the message through the brand’s first-ever marketing campaign, “Clear Start on the Street.”

According to the American Heart Association about 1 in 5 people who have had a heart attack will have a second one within five years. The risk increases to 1 in 4 for another ischemic (clot-related) stroke. Recent updates have led to confusion among healthcare providers and patients alike about the use of aspirin for cardiovascular prevention. The updated guidelines do not include patients who take a doctor-directed aspirin regimen for secondary prevention, which is when someone takes aspirin because they have already had a cardiovascular event, such as a heart attack or ischemic (clot-related) stroke, and want to help prevent another one from occurring.
Aspirin is not appropriate for everyone. Talk to your doctor before you begin an aspirin regimen. The CDC says that aspirin continues to be a life-saving preventative treatment for many patients who have already had a cardiovascular event and three key things to keep in mind.

This National Infertility Awareness Week, former E! host Jason Kennedy and wife Lauren Scruggs Kennedy reflect on their infertility journey as they recently welcomed their son into the world. The couple says friends and family helped them through it, and sharing their experiences with their community on social media, was second nature to them. And they joined forces with First Response and RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association to help in its mission of rebuilding RESOLVE’s network of support groups that took a hit due to COVID-19, leaving huge gaps of support in local communities nationwide.
"Research shows that infertility carries with us the same burden as a cancer diagnosis. We need to ensure people have support and community," says Barbara Collura, CEO of RESOLVE. "When they have it, they have better outcomes. 85% of people have told us they feel better after participating in a support group. Many people have told us that it saved their lives." The goal is to make your journey through family building easier with fewer barriers. "Improve your life —have all the support you need," Collura says. "It’s an opportunity for people to share their story and realize they are not alone.”
RESOLVE, founded by a nurse experiencing infertility, created its first support group in 1974. It has provided free support groups ever since.
“It's really about raising awareness about the need for support and then finding all of those amazing volunteers who are going to help run those support groups,” Collura says. "We’re so excited to be able to partner with First Response on something that is, quite honestly, one of the most important things that we could be doing for the community.”
Jason and Lauren encourage others to share their stories and give back to those experiencing infertility by joining a nearby support group or volunteering to start one of their own.
To get involved, connect with others, and share your story, visit resolve.org/firstresponse.

As part of this, over the next three years, they have committed $225,000 to fund Doula services and provide Doula education grants for aspiring birth workers. Helping to lead the charge for public awareness and advocacy for Black mothers, Carol’s Daughter and the Mama Glow Foundation urge you to learn more and get involved in their Love Delivered program.

We all know that to be healthy, we should eat well, exercise more, manage our stress, and get better sleep, yet most don't know how to achieve these goals. A first-ever “State of Healthy Behaviors” report conducted by the consumer-first digital health platform Noom found that people would rather endure a root canal than make healthy changes to their lifestyle. So how do we start on the right path? The solution lies in the concept of behavior change, which yields positive outcomes that directly impact our health and can prevent chronic conditions. Ahead of the new year, here’s a look at more of the latest research into how we view personal health goals, from weight management to mental wellness and stress reduction. Plus, the barriers that may be stopping us from being able to achieve them. And how behavior change can help.

The statistics are staggering. According to the American Heart Association, 1 in 4 heart attack and clot-related stroke survivors will have another one. But internist and board-certified gastroenterologist Dr. Roshini Raj says there are simple things we can do every day to help prevent it.
“The key is to manage your risk factors,” says Dr. Raj. “After a heart attack, it’s important to manage things such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes by taking recommended medications, quitting smoking, eating healthy food, and getting active.”
The doctor has the following thoughts for those who have had a heart attack or clot-related stroke. “A doctor-directed aspirin regimen may help reduce their risk of another heart attack or clot-related (ischemic) stroke. Aspirin is not appropriate for everyone, so be sure to talk to your doctor before you begin an aspirin regimen,” he advises.
As a reminder, no one should start, stop or modify an aspirin regimen without first speaking with their doctor. It's always important to talk to your doctor before making any changes to your regimen.
How can aspirin help prevent a second heart attack or clot-related stroke? “Aspirin helps limit the stickiness of platelets, which are part of the blood cells responsible for blocking arteries that lead to a heart attack or clot-related stroke. This helps prevent these harmful clots from forming and getting bigger and helps keep blood flowing,” says Dr. Raj.
He says you should ask your doctor about cardiac rehabilitation too. “This is a medically supervised program designed to help you recover after a heart attack or clot-related stroke," says the doctor. "It is comprised of an exercise program, education for heart-healthy living, and emotional support counseling. You should have received a referral to cardiac rehab when you were discharged from the hospital – if you didn’t, ask your doctor to provide one," says Dr. Raj.
Lastly, he says to find a support system. “It’s normal to feel scared, overwhelmed, or confused after a heart attack or clot-related stroke. Getting support from loved ones or from people who have also experienced a heart attack or clot-related stroke can help you cope.”
The bottom line is to make prevention a priority. Talk with your doctor about steps that are right for you.

It's flu season, but with COVID still looming, there is so much to consider—like when is the right time to get the flu shot and your COVID booster? Dr. Nagrani from Heal, a healthcare company that provides medical care to seniors in the privacy of their own homes, says it is not only safe to get the flu shot and your COVID booster but also safe to get them at the same time.
“The flu shot and COVID vaccine will have similar side effects to previous doses,” says Dr. Nagrani. “It’s particularly important for patients 65 years and older to get these vaccines because they are at higher risk for serious complications from either condition.”
Bottom line: Dr. Nagrani says it’s crucial to get protected before flu season begins, and while COVID remains a serious threat, it’s important to consider other factors as well.
“Where we live, work, and play has important consequences for our health risks and outcomes, so with Heal,” says the doctor, “having the doctor come to your house, we remove the barrier and deliver primary care there, where we can both take extra time to address all of your needs and concerns. Primary care includes preventive health, acute urgent care for minor issues that don’t require an emergency room, but also things that are important like screenings for your health, drawing labs like bloodwork, and vaccines.”
Heal doctors can evaluate a wide range of social determinants of health, confirming medications are being taken correctly, patients are eating well, and their surroundings are safe and well-maintained.
“That’s part of the value of a doctor coming to your house for a house call, but another part is having the time to build a relationship and getting to know each other so you can skip the waiting room, have that extra time and discuss all the things that are going to be important to your health,” says Dr. Nagrani.
Heal is covered by Medicare and major Medicare Advantage plans, plus there are no added costs or membership fees. And Medicare annual enrollment takes place until December 7th. For more info, visit heal.com.

With so few things we can control in life, we at LifeMinute.tv are BIG BELIEVERS in the little things you can do to make yourself feel good, like treating your senses. They play a huge role in mood and emotion.
Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar, the co-founder of the Happiness Studies Academy, says personal smells change our mood based on people or cultural things we find pleasing because of our upbringing and those experiences we remember. And then there are universal smells ---- these impact us regardless. The key, Ben-Shahar says, is to find whatever scent works for you.
We like surrounding ourselves with great scents. Our fave ways?
The smell of fab coffee brewing first thing in the morning helps us get out of bed. Just make sure to set that timer before you go to bed!
Using fab-smelling soaps, shampoos, and moisturizers can also set the tone for the rest of the day.
Another way to stay positive: Having fresh flowers around you can immediately brighten your day.
If you love music—pop on your favorite tunes.
Get fresh air: Even a quick 30-minute walk outside can do wonders.
Exercise: It releases endorphins in your brain that make you feel happy, and it helps you feel good about yourself in general.
Stay hydrated: Drink at least six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day.
Of course, how you look affects how you feel. Try a new hair color or haircut, even a new lipstick. Studies have shown it can cheer you up.
Positive moments can lead to an upward spiral too. The important thing is that we make it a habit.

It’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Paralympic athlete Blake Leeper is drawing awareness to the lack of inclusivity in the fitness industry and what companies can do to help ensure people with disabilities feel represented.
People with disabilities face discrimination and bias in fitness spaces stemming from societal ability standards and ideas of what an athlete should look like. It's only made worse by the lack of representation of trainers and coaches with disabilities, not to mention limited access to inclusive fitness facilities. Leeper teamed up with Degree to call on the fitness industry to hire trainers with disabilities, to help increase representation, and ensure everyone can feel seen in their facilities. The Trainers for Hire campaign resulted from a study that found 81% of people with disabilities don’t feel welcome in fitness spaces.
As part of the Trainers for Hire campaign, Leeper taught two inclusive cycling classes in New York City’s Flatiron Plaza. Participants included people of varying ability levels, showcasing the ideal image of what inclusion in fitness classes should look like and that adaptive trainers are equally qualified to instruct and train.
Check out Degree’s TrainersforHire.com site for a free educational toolkit co-created with Lakeshore Foundation, a notable NGO in the disability space. The website also hosts a database of qualified trainers available for hire and ready to help make spaces more welcoming and inviting for people with disabilities.

On the heels of Suicide Prevention Month in September, we’re uncovering fact versus fiction from a new survey that looked at Americans’ general knowledge of suicide prevention. The stigma associated with suicide and seeking help are significant barriers to treatment. Cohen Veterans Network (CVN), a not-for-profit organization that provides mental health services to veterans and military families, revealed findings of its America’s Mental Health Suicide Prevention Pulse Survey.
The survey found that more than one-third of Americans, 36%, believe it’s best not to ask someone if they’re thinking about taking their own life, and 29% believe it will make them more likely to kill themselves. However, talking about suicide reduces stigma. It can provide relief to someone experiencing suicidal thoughts, knowing that someone cares, wants to listen, and is there to help.
Moreover, asking about suicidal thoughts won’t necessarily push someone into doing something self-destructive. It may reduce the risk of them acting on their suicidal feelings.
Another 44% are uncomfortable asking someone directly if their thinking about taking their own life. But asking can help you better assess if the person you are concerned about is in danger of acting on those thoughts. As uncomfortable as it may seem, it's best to ask.
The survey also found that nearly half (45%) of Americans believe that most suicides happen suddenly, without warning, or ''on a whim." But that's not always the case. Most people who attempt to kill themselves will display warning signs. Recognizing the signs could help prevent suicide. Warning signs include talking about wanting to die or wanting to kill themselves, withdrawing from family and friends, giving away important possessions, putting affairs in order, such as making a will, and more.
Cohen Veterans Network is encouraging all Americans to “ask the questions.” Suicide prevention is their top priority, and their goal is to help empower people to take action if they are concerned about someone they know. It could help save a life. You can follow along with their movement at hashtag ask the question. For more suicide prevention facts, visit cohenveteransnetwork.org/amhpulse.

September is Self Improvement Month, and it’s also the start of our beauty and wellness routines for fall. Here’s the scoop on three must-haves to look and feel your best from the inside out.
Watch the video: https://lifeminute.tv/health/video/tips-and-tricks-look-and-feel-your-very-best-fall
As we gear up for a time of transition – going back to school, a new season – now is the chance to take control of what’s most important . . . your physical and mental wellness! Planet Fitness just commissioned a national study that found Americans this fall are looking to get more active and improve themselves. Close to half of Americans will devote more time to exercise this fall than one year ago. And 50% say they will eat better-for-you foods than compared to last fall.
Exercise and daily activity can help reduce stress and alleviate anxiety, but routine functional movement can help keep you out of the fog altogether. The mental benefits of aerobic exercise have a neurological basis. Exercise reduces levels of the body’s stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It also stimulates the production of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that are the body’s natural painkillers and mood elevators. Physical activity may help to bump up the production of your brain’s “feel good” neurotransmitters called endorphins.
If you want to improve your overall wellness this season, you can start by finding fun ways to be creative with your fitness. Who says that exercise has to be boring and mundane? Color outside the lines by doing fun things like dancing, going on nature walks, or even dusting off those old skates. When prioritizing your personal health, we’re a fan of supplements for your brain. That’s why we’ve partnered with Neuriva. They’re made specifically to fuel the five indicators of brain health: focus, memory, learning, accuracy, and concentration.
They’re made with naturally sourced ingredients such as NeuroFactor®, a decaffeinated coffee fruit extract. They come in capsule and gummy forms. Find Neuriva® at The Vitamin Shoppe. It’s the place for quality products and trusted advice for lifelong wellness.
Cleansing is a key step in your skincare routine, especially during the summer from sunscreen, sweat, oil, and residue build-up, so choosing the right cleanser for your skin is important. CeraVe has a great range of products to meet your skin needs. They're all developed with dermatologists with ingredients that are essential for healthy skin, like ceramides that actually restore your skin’s natural barrier and hyaluronic acid to lock in hydration. If you tend to have dry skin, the hydrating facial cleanser is fantastic. It is a gentle hydrating formula. If your skin is on the oilier side, the foaming gel cleanser is for you. Both products help your skin find a healthy, clean balance without stripping it or leaving it feeling tight and dry.
When it comes to water, drink at least half your body weight in ounces. Our bodies are like plants. They shrivel up without water, so hydration is key. If you don’t like the taste, add your favorite fruit, mint leaves, even basil or cucumber, and let it sit in the fridge overnight. It will add a nice flavor to the water.
Get your Z’s – at least 6-8 hours a night. Try to get some exercise each day, even if it’s a brisk 20-minute walk too. Exercise, water, and a good night's sleep keep us well. And skip the processed foods. Not only does it make a huge difference in how you feel but how you look too.

The first 1000 days of a child’s life are important since it represents the most active period of brain development. But new data shows that some toddlers may not be getting all the recommended nutrients to support optimal development. Here’s the scoop on how to support it from the start.
Brain development doest not stop at age one. In fact, 85% of brain growth occurs within the first three years of a child’s life, and poor nutrition in this timeframe can have lasting effects. Although most children have an adequate intake of most vitamins and nutrients, new data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey shows that many young children aren't getting adequate or recommended amounts of key nutrients such as calcium, DHA, vitamin D, and iron.
Adequate iron intake is needed for children's growth, brain development, and immune health. But it is estimated that approximately 1.2 million children ages 1 to 3 in the United States may have iron deficiency. Vitamin D supports bone health, but 79.2% of children 1-2 year-olds and 87.3% of 2-3 year-olds do not consume an adequate amount of vitamin D.
DHA is important for the brain development of toddlers. Yet the data showed that almost the entire population (97–99%) of children aged 1-6 had DHA intakes below the expert-recommended amounts. Furthermore, the data estimated that 17% of toddlers 1-6 years old have inadequate intakes of calcium, a building block for healthy bones.
Parents can do things to help close the gaps and get children engaged in eating nutrient-dense foods. When it comes to trying new foods, reading books with your child about different foods can be a low-pressure way to build confidence. Plant a fruit or vegetable garden to encourage them to eat more produce. Fill a muffin tin with various nutritious foods like nuts, berries, chopped veggies, whole grain crackers, cheese, etc. It makes snack-time fun, and it allows your toddler to be 'in control,' but you’ll have peace of mind knowing your child is choosing from healthy foods. Lastly, toddler nutritional drinks can also be an easy way to help address nutrient gaps. A great one is Enfagrow® Toddler Nutritional Drink by the maker of Enfamil. Enfagrow can complement a toddler's diet to help fill nutrient gaps, which will help ensure they’re getting important vitamins to support growth and brain development. Enfagrow is made with real milk, and it contains nutrients like DHA, vitamin D, and iron. In fact, 2 servings have 70% of the daily value of iron toddlers need for development, and it helps support growth with as much iron as about 2 gallons of milk. You can find Enfagrow at local grocery stores and most retailers like Walmart, Target, and Amazon.
Start good habits early, but don’t worry if your child is going through a picky phase. It’s common, and implementing some of these tips may help.

Qorvo Biotechnologies, a semiconductor company that delivers radio frequency solutions that connect our smart devices, has just received FDA emergency use authorization for COVID-19 antigen testing through its new Omnia platform. The diagnostic tool uses high frequency, bulk acoustic wave sensors – technology that can be found in your home Wi-Fi networks – to detect COVID-19 antigens, providing accurate results in approximately 20 minutes.
Omnia represents a paradigm shift in how diagnostic testing is done. Instead of relying on traditional molecular testing methods, it uses RF sensors to detect concentrations within a sample. Qorvo’s goal is to provide lab equivalent results. We believe this platform has the potential to give physicians fast access to test data they can trust.
To help advance the production of the Omnia diagnostic test platform, Qorvo Biotechnologies has been awarded a $24.4 million contract from the National Institutes of Health to help meet the clinical need for rapid antigen testing.
Along with the FDA’s emergency use authorization, the recent NIH contract is recognition that the Omnia platform can help address the public health need for rapid, accurate, and clinically reliable diagnostic testing.

If your eyes are sensitive, dry, scratchy, tired, or excessively teary, you may be experiencing dry eye syndrome. If left untreated, it can cause permanent damage. Doctors say it’s one of the most prevalent conditions they see in their practice.
On average, we spend at least 6 hours a day online. This increased time can cause us to blink less often or only partially blink, and that's problematic. A healthy blink rate is essential to activating the oil-producing meibomian glands, which spread the needed tear oil across the surface of the eye to keep it hydrated.
While there are some great medications and treatments available, many focus on tear deficiency issues. However, in most cases, dry eye symptoms are caused by something else. In fact, the majority of patients experiencing dry eye symptoms have blocked meibomian glands, which is a condition commonly known as meibomian gland dysfunction, or MGD. For the 86% of dry eye patients that do have MGD, there are treatments that can help.
The TearScience® LipiFlow® procedure has been shown to increase gland secretion threefold, on average, with just one treatment. Most patients experience reduced dry eye symptoms by more than 50%. The in-office procedure takes 12 minutes and is the only treatment that utilizes heat and therapeutic massage to remove blockages in the meibomian glands. Removal of the gland blockages is essential to improve gland function and reduce the progression of MGD, the leading cause of dry eye.
Other things you should do on a regular basis to keep your eyes in check? Make sure you’re blinking correctly! The new Blink Break app helps you practice good blinking habits. You can download it for free in the app store. And of course, make sure to visit your eye doctor once a year for regular checkups.

We all know the oral and other obvious benefits of straightening your teeth, but you probably didn't know that doing so is great for your general health too. When you have straighter teeth, they are easier to clean and floss and lead to healthier gums. And since poor dental health has been linked to heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and more, clean teeth means less chronic inflammation of the gums and supporting tooth structures. Studies show that if patients reduce the chronic inflammation that gum disease causes by having good oral hygiene, they can also have a positive effect on their diabetic, heart and overall health condition. Plus, straighter teeth means fewer "smile lines" on your face. Who doesn't love that?
At a time when self-care, unity and world peace has never been more vital, spiritual guru, Yogmata Keiko Aikawa is sharing her secrets on how to create the ultimate well-being in her latest book 108 Teachings: The Path to the True Self. Revered all over the world as the preeminent figure on yoga, meditation, spiritualism and world peace. Some refer to her as the “supreme master of the universe” and she's an inspiration to many.
Yogmata says it’s all about getting in touch with your energy, then you will be able to detach your mind from anxiety, worry and other negativity.
We’re all trying to practice self-care now more than ever and doing whatever we can to make ourselves feel good. If you have kids you know that goes for them as well. So here are some tips to help.
Hygiene is key and sometimes it can be a challenge. So do little things to make it appealing for the children in your family, such as buying some cool smelling soaps or great bath bombs. You can also try a fun electric toothbrush. Challenge your kids to find the most unique shampoos for individual members of the family.
If your kids are complaining about their glasses fogging up when wearing a mask, consider asking your eye doctor about contact lenses instead. Nearly 4/5 teens prefer them over glasses. A great choice for first-time wearers are Biotrue® ONEday daily disposables because they’re easy to handle, and comfortable for all day wear. Research shows that we blink less when we read on screens – which can reduce moisture in our eyes. Biotrue® ONEday contact lenses are unbeaten in moisture, maintaining almost all of their moisture for 16 hours. This is important because teens can spend a large part of their day texting with friends, binge-watching shows and gaming online! Not to mention remote learning. Plus, they’re disposable, so you don’t have to worry about cleaning and storing them – you get a nice fresh pair of lenses every morning and you just throw them out at the end of the day, so super easy.
Just be sure to ask your doctor if your child is a good candidate for contact lenses. If she or he shows responsibility in other areas of their lives, contacts might be a great next step.

While we typically think of aging in terms of our physical appearance, it’s more than just the wrinkles on our face and the graying of our hair. As we get older, our body is changing at the cellular level. Luckily, there are simple lifestyle changes we can make to help take control of how we age.
1. Exercise Everyday
As we age, there is a natural decline in strength, endurance, and stamina. The benefits of exercise reduce the risk of dying from heart disease and developing high blood pressure, colon cancer and diabetes, as well as reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
2. Get Social
Isolation can have potentially devastating effects emotionally and physically. Research has shown that those who engage in meaningful, productive activities on a regular basis tend to live longer, have improved mood, and a greater sense of purpose.
At least 7 hours a night. Sleep deprivation speeds up the aging process and can cause irritability, memory loss, depression, and even falls or accidents.
Cellular health is an emerging category we're seeing in the health and wellness space and it's revolutionizing how we age. A well-balanced diet that includes proper macronutrients and micronutrients is helpful in maintaining optimal health; however, they may not be enough to combat the age-related declines happening inside your cells. Trillions of cells power every aspect of your life and unfortunately, as they get older, your cells no longer function at their peak performance due to declines in what we refer to as age-associated cellular decline, or AACD.
This is why supplementing is important. Celltrient™ Cellular Nutrition from Néstle Health Science is a breakthrough range of nutritional products with cellular nutrients that addresses 3 major sources of cell aging. Visit Amazon.com or celltrient.com for more info.

Next up is something that’s truly cracked the “digital code” for how we’re living right now. According to a 2020 Eyesafe Nielsen screen time estimate, many of us are spending more time on digital devices than ever before, an average of 13 hours per day. This can irritate our eyes. Normally, the average person blinks about 20 times per minute, but when staring at screens, we blink less completely, often reducing our blink rate by half. That causes our eyes to miss out on essential hydration.
So, we've partnered with REFRESH® DIGITAL, a lubricating eye drop formulated specifically to quickly relieve dry, irritated eyes, which may be associated with extended screen time. It uses a special proprietary technology that protects tears from evaporating. Get it online or at retail locations nationwide, wherever over-the-counter eyedrops are sold. Refreshbrand.com

The real dangers of the sun and what you need to do on a daily basis to protect yourself before you head out the door.
What should we know about melanoma?
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, a person’s risk for melanoma doubles if they’ve had more than five sunburns. And, one blistering sunburn as a child can also double a person’s chances of developing melanoma later in life.
This really sheds light on why it is extremely important to wear sunscreen daily, no matter your age, skin type or tone. Even if you don’t burn easily from the sun, harmful UV rays can still penetrate the skin and cause damage.
Although melanoma and other skin cancers aren’t 100% preventable, UV exposure is the most preventable risk factor for skin cancer and using a broad-spectrum sunscreen helps lower the risk of sun damage and skin cancer when used correctly on a daily basis.
What types of sunscreen should we be using?
Always look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or higher, as this will protect against the sun's UV or ultraviolet rays, specifically UVA and UVB. UVA rays penetrate more deeply into the skin and play a greater role in premature skin aging or damage, while UVB rays are more responsible for producing sunburn.
This year, Cetaphil actually launched its first-ever sunscreen line, which is 100% mineral-based and includes SPF 30 and SPF 50 lotions, an SPF 50 face liquid, and an SPF 50 stick, which I love for its convenience – not to mention it’s great for kids. The entire collection is dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic, paraben and fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, reef-safe and water resistant for up to 80 minutes.
How should we apply sunscreen?
First, prep skin with a regular or tinted moisturizer. A hydrated base will help the minerals disperse more evenly over the skin, which leads to easier blending. Next, apply a small amount of sunscreen at a time and rub in a circular motion until it’s fully absorbed into the skin. You can also mix your sunscreen right into your foundation – just make sure you’re using enough for it to be effective. Make sure to apply at least 15 minutes before any sun exposure and reapply every two hours especially if you’re in direct sunlight, swimming, or sweating.
You can follow @CetaphilUS on Instagram and visit Cetaphil.com or your local retailer for more info.
