There will be various funding streams available, falling under the categories of Community, Tourism and Economic, with several recipient projects already identified. Importantly, local not for profit groups will be able to apply for grants of between $5000 and $10,000 to deliver initiatives in the areas of Health and Wellbeing, Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Youth, and Education. The Together Gladstone Community Grants will open for applications on 1 August via https://gladstone.smartygrants.com.au/TogetherGlad. Volunteer Grants available for community organisations
The Australian Government is backing volunteers, with up to $20 million available to support volunteers across
the nation.
Member for Flynn, Ken O’Dowd said up to $132,450 is available in Flynn as part of the 2021 Volunteer
Grants round.
Ken O’Dowd is calling for eligible, not-for-profit community organisations in Flynn to submit their
expression of interest now via www.kenodowd.com.au
“I am liaising with community leaders and relevant committees to identify priority volunteer support for
our local area.”
“Volunteers across Flynn freely give their time to support local organisations in a variety of ways, and make
an extraordinary contribution to our community,” Mr O’Dowd said.
Volunteer Grants of $1,000 to $5,000 will help volunteers and volunteer groups to buy small equipment for
volunteers, by reimbursing volunteer fuel, transport or training costs, or support promotional activities.
Organisations must have been nominated by their Federal Member of Parliament and meet the eligibility
criteria.
Each Member is able to nominate organisations to apply for funding in their electorate up until 29 April
apply for funding in May 2021.
Successful applicants will be announced in November 2021.

Lorinda May Merrypor: Actor, Singer and Dancer originally from Rockhampton descending from of the Kuungkari tribe, in Queensland. In 2014, she moved to Brisbane to follow her dream of working in theatre. Lorinda committed to solid training and honing her talents as a performer at the Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium. In 2016, she graduated with a Bachelor of Musical Theatre. Soon after graduating she made her professional debut as a member of the ensemble cast in the Australian premier, of Broadway’s award-winning musical, ‘American Idiot’. Following the success of ‘American Idiot’ she was cast in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical produced by The Michael Cassel Group. Since then, Lorinda has gone from strength to strength, she has played her dream role, the role of Julie in HITT productions’ touring version of stage musical, The Sapphires and most recently shared the stage with other indigenous actors in a preliminary workshop of a new Australian play, ‘A Letter For Molly’ which was performed for an exclusive audience of theatre makers and creators including representatives from the Sydney Theatre Company and Griffin Theatre, to name a few. Lorinda is extremely grateful for the opportunities she has had thus far and cherishes every day she gets to do what she loves most, to perform.
