This program is designed to educate first responders, civic leaders, social workers, education professionals, faith based leaders and parents about how predators access, groom, recruit and exploit victims into prostitution and sextortion. We analyze real cases from the perspective of Law Enforcement, the victim, and the perpetrator. We look at hard core trafficking cases and how law enforcement is able to intervene. We examine cases of child pornography and the Dark Web. We examine how predators use apps, chatrooms, games and the latest technologies. We discuss the impact of gangs and cartels on human exploitation. We also look at trends in global human trafficking. Our goal is to build a global interactive community of individuals empowered to eradicate human exploitation.
The grooming and recruitment of teens in sex crimes often takes place in a school setting. Sometimes a student's behavior changes. They start to dress provocatively, or leave school early. Sometimes they are regularly sleepy or hungry. A younger girl may suddenly have a new older boyfriend and seems to be controlled or dominated by him. In 60% of sex trafficking cases the younger girl is recruited by another girl and they all start missing school.
Over 9000 kids a day in the US are being blackmailed because they sent a naked or sexual photo to someone they want to care about them. This often shows up as a change in behavior as the victim is trapped and being threatened. More than 50% will meet with their perpetrator before they will tell a parent. They may start cutting, or become emotionally withdrawn or volatile. Some may consider suicide.
The signs a student is a victim of exploitation can be recognized if adults are educated on what to look for.

Parents often ask me what they can do to make certain their child is not a victim of sexual exploitation whether it is sextortion, social media exploitation or sex trafficking. The answer may surprise you.
I believe character is the single biggest element in teaching your child to stand against predators, pimps, pedophiles, gangs, and organized crime.
Don’t get me wrong. That is not to suggest victims of exploitation did not have character. But over the years we have learned that there are two critical factors in how predators identify and seduce their victims. The most common grooming tool is to look for their weaknesses and exploit it. Usually it is a desire to be loved, admired, included and cherished. They seek out young people on dating sites and live streaming apps that may be looking for excitement, adventure, affection or hookups. They also are looking for people (of any age) that are willing to take a short cut to earn easy money.
In 2016, California voters passed Proposition 57 which stated that non-violent offenders could be considered for early release from prison with the idea of helping relieve the over crowding of California prisons and assist rehabilitated prisoners to leave incarceration and begin a new life. The challenge was that no one defined what a non violent offense was . It turns out that there are only a few crimes in the California Penal Code that are considered violent. Sex with a minor, sex with a dead person, sex trafficking of a minor or assault on a law enforcement officer were not considered violent.
Proposition 20 is designed to improve on that situation. While not a perfect solution it does redefine 51 crimes under the California Penal Code as being considered Violent and providing Judges the opportunity to deny early parole. Sex Trafficking of a minor is one of those crimes.

On this week’s show we will look at the impact of decreasing investigation and policing budgets will have on crimes of sexual exploitation. And, one young girl told me recently that if you don’t send a naked photo to a guy before the date, the guy won’t go out with you. Is that what our kids need to do to be popular? These SuperBowl half-tme show “role models” have set the criteria for what is acceptable. Where do we go from here?

We explore the impact on our kids and our society of prepubescent children emulating adult sex acts while on the world wide web. We discuss the issue of our kids being exposed to adult sexual relations before they even understand adult sex and the impact of shame based sexual encounters with adult perpetrators. We discuss how sex without context, sex without morals, sex with intimacy will form life time feelings about future sexual relationships. Most important we talk about what parents and community leaders can do to counter this hyper-sexualization of our young children.

If there was ever a time when we all needed the strength of strong character it is now. The difference between being a victim online and being a warrior is knowing who you are and what you believe. We are entering a truly historic time when our very youngest children will be on the “World wide Web” using technology that accesses millions of people, and they will be exposed to more sexual promiscuity and animated pornography than any generation before them. Our kids are givers and they want to please. Pedophiles prey on a child’s need for love and approval and the need to be recognized. Easy money schemes and having the most “likes” can be very costly. Teaching a child that every time they do what is right instead of what is easy is the most important guidance a parent or grandparent can provide

This week the Fresno County Sheriff conducted multiple undercover stings where they used a variety of apps and posed as children ages 12 and 13 years old. In a less than one week 34 men had conversations with the “minors” and arranged a meet up for sex where they were met by law enforcement and arrested. If you think online pedophilia is not rampant during this Covid crisis knowing that our kids will have lots of time on their hands and are playing online, you are not informed. Most of us are aware that sex trafficking and social media exploitation of our teenagers is a very real thing. Many faith-based leaders are telling me their resources are limited but still, they want to do what they can to protect and inform their families. It appears that most teens and even young children will be spending a vast amount of time online with distance learning this fall. Even first graders are being prepared for online learning. Organized crime, sex trafficking rings, and illegal pot grows all have one thing in common. Money Laundering. Few people in Southern California are aware of just how close they live to big dollar crime.
A recent illegal pot grow in Riverside County netted over one million dollars in cash. A sex trafficking ring in San Gabriel had 50 different bank accounts in 9 different banks and they were buying and selling real estate to move the money back to China. A sex trafficking ring in Chino Hills and Irvine used over 20,000 sex ads to exploit women netting over $1.7 million from sex buyers. A Thai ring out of Los Angeles County sent tens of millions of dollars back to Bangkok.
This week we will have as our guest Donna Staples with Tetrad Core. Their mission is to collaborate with law enforcement agencies across the country to assist them in stings focusing on online pedophilia and sexual assault.
Tetrad Core’s main goal is educating parents and students about the dangers the internet can pose for those who are unaware. The newest apps, video games, and social media can all present a danger to children.
They are also currently collaborating with an educational company on creating curriculum that can be introduced into schools that will teach students, and parent how to be aware and safe when accessing the Internet.
Tetrad Core helped with sting operations with Chris Hansen, “Hansen vs. Predator,” (previously of “To Catch a Predator”) in Connecticut that resulted in 11 arrests and convictions.
Million Kids has spent over ten years working with teens and parents who end up being exploited by an online predator or become victims of sex trafficking because they trusted the wrong person. Our team has often discussed the issue of what makes one person more susceptible to being violated or exploited than another. This show will explore the many factors related to vulnerability.
The number one factor is the belief that you are “damaged goods.” We will explore the difference between “failing” and “being flawed.” Very often it is the desire to “fit in” to be accepted and sometimes it has to do with the desperate need for others to “take care of me.” We will explore risk taking behaviors and how the desire to take short cuts and get quick fame and success or easy money that opens the door to exploitation.
Combating human trafficking requires the collaborative effort of trained specialists working together to conduct investigations, prosecutions, provide prevention and intervention programs, while at the same time assessing and providing a broad range of services for victims of trafficking. It is critical that all participating agencies be educated in successful anti-trafficking efforts and develop a coordinated plan within each community.
This show will educate you about how task forces are formed, the role of each collaborating agency, including local law enforcement, federal law enforcement agencies, federal prosecutors, District Attorneys, departments of social services, public health, mental health and local offices of education, while also working closely with shelters and safe houses to address the needs of victims.

Two Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies died from Corona virus and many more have tested positive. It is true that crisis accelerates bad guys. And right now, it also presents opportunity for your child to make poor decisions, act out in ways that are not healthy and take more chances on the internet. Help your child get a plan to take control of their lives and deal with adversity. Encourage them to put down the phone/tablet and verbalize what they are feeling.

Teens who are on the edge or living in high risk circumstances such as a parental divorce, diminished family income, changes in school schedules etc, will be at greater risk as the future of life as we now know it seems threatened. Some teens will turn to strangers to share their secret fears and frustrations dealing with change. Some marriages will experience more conflict as parents try to cope with financial insecurity.

Surprisingly, more than half of the cases that happen in Southern California involve U.S. citizens and, all too often, our young people. To be fair, we must also acknowledge that there are many cases where individuals from outside the U.S. come to the U.S and end up exploited through sex and labor trafficking.
Dr. Fernando works with the Department of Homeland Security as a physician on Plum Island, New York. He is also a world-renown infectious disease specialist, formerly touring the world while serving as a member of Doctors Without Borders in Sudan. Dr. Fernando will also talk about the health risks related to human trafficking, the opioid epidemic, as well as the Coronavirus.

We often see documentaries on sex trafficking portraying the image of sex buyers as men who look like Richard Gere in his role in “Pretty Woman.” The pimps almost always look like they are high rolling men who wear furs and chains. And, the women are beautiful, smiling and excited to be selling their bodies in upscale establishments.These are stereotypes that are certainly entertaining, but mostly inaccurate.
In reality, nearly 60% of sex trafficking cases, the recruitment and selling of the female victim is done by another woman. Few commercial sex buyers are professional Caucasian men in suits. Most are laborers of all ethnic backgrounds. And, many of the victims are average looking young girls, who are desperately seeking someone to take care of them, and have little understanding of the path they are traveling on.
A cell phone is a device that requires Adult Cognitive Reasoning. Certainly, you can use a device without internet access. But, putting a pre-pubescent child on the world wide web without the emotional and intellectual capacity to identify danger and react is like putting your child out to play on the freeway without mentioning there are cars on it. Some people are wonderful, but some are pure evil AND YOUR CHILD WILL BE CONNECTED TO ALL OF THEM!
January is National Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention month. This week we will be talking about labor trafficking.
Labor trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which individuals perform labor or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion. Labor trafficking includes situations of debt bondage, forced labor, and involuntary child labor.
Often, not enough emphasis is put on understanding labor trafficking. From the San Francisco Bay Bridge, to the agriculture fields of Hawaii, an upscale bakery in Beverly Hills, small, independent care homes for the elderly, sweat shops in L.A. and a chicken ranch in Ohio labor trafficking in the U.S. is very real.
The year 2020 will be the year where our kids will strive to have a million likes and 100,000 followers. Sites like Tik Tok Thot, Twitch, Likee, Live.me are platforms for provocative videos that put young people on the world wide stage. Sadly, today many kids equate mass audience following with personal value. Pedophiles comb through live streaming videos looking for the kids with low self-esteem and low value self image. Kids who function from a shame-based self-perception are easy targets for pedophiles.
This week we will look at what happens when a child with low self-esteem is seduced by a predator and thinks they have fallen in love, they are exploited and blackmailed. It will change their life forever.

Global Law Enforcement and Intelligence organizations discovered the largest child pornography ring in history with over ONE MILLION users that subscribed to a Dark Net site and received frequent user points for paying their subscription with Bitcoin.
The US Congressional Intelligence Committee is investigating TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, for possible international security violations for using artificial intelligence to record and share user data.
The People’s Republic of China introduced their cryptocurrency that will be 300,000 times faster than Libra being introduced by Facebook, which is being investigated by the U.S. Congressional Finance Committee.

The People’s Republic of China introduced their cryptocurrency that will be 300,000 times faster than Libra being introduced by Facebook, which is being investigated by the U.S. Congressional Finance Committee.

Recently, PornHub (the largest porn site in the world) released their 2018 data, and the findings are very concerning. Many of the popular searches in PornHub were video game characters created in a pornographic setting. For example, of the 33 BILLION porn video downloads, Fortnite and Bowsette (a Nintendo character) led the searches. Equally disturbing is the new trend of creating animated pornography parodies of these video games, which are being downloaded by the tens of millions.
5 of the searches were related to FORTNITE characters and 9 of the top searches were related to Overwatch characters. Many more were related to Marvel characters. The other significant revelation is that in categories viewed the longest, the leader is “Amateur” videos, something teens can create on their own just by using live-streaming apps.
In this episode we will discuss the implications of this report for our teens who play video games which contain explicit animated pornography.
Years ago, pedophiles would hide in the shadows and take photos of their acts when violating a child. Sometimes they would share these photos with one or two other pedophiles they trusted.
Today, we are seeing large-scale child pornography rings in the Dark Net. Some have been discovered with over 200,000 pedophile members who upload photos and videos via peer-to-peer networks or virtual private networks. Law enforcement agencies have discovered databases exceeding 30 million images of exploited children.
As criminal activities become more complex, experts are developing technologies that are identifying and prosecuting child pornographers by the thousands. These advancing technologies are critical for discovering how pedophiles and organized sex crime rings use mass-audience live streaming, artificial intelligence, encryption, cryptocurrency, block chain and the Dark Net to communicate and help them decode and transcend illicit activities to bring these evildoers to justice.
Every day new technologies are being handed to our kids that will catapult them from the safety of their homes to becoming performers on the world stage. The challenge is that the victims are becoming younger and younger. Certainly, many 15 to 17 year olds have fallen prey to sextortion, but today we are seeing kids 8 to 12 years old being trapped in this heinous crime. So who is at fault?
So who is to blame? Society? The app maker? The pedophile? The parent? And even more important, how do we keep our kids safe from predators?
Million Kids has worked to combat sex trafficking in the U.S. for over ten years now and one thing we most often see, when a predator, pimp or bottom girl is recruiting a victim, is the Bait and Switch method of seduction. Using blockchain technology and 5G connections, Facebook stands to increase global online commerce exponentially as teens and adults from third world countries are introduced to online gaming and easy money schemes. Crowdsourcing sextortion is truly a 21st century concept. It is the tsunami of sexual exploitation. In the past, child pornographers stayed in the shadows and kept their illicit photos to themselves or maybe shared them with a close friend.
Today, sextortion rings can form via the internet with six, eight, ten or even more pedophiles, who collectively utilize sophisticated seduction methods to exploit children. These innocent children or teenagers do not stand a chance once they are lured into this snare. They have no idea they are communicating with multiple adults.
For the pedophile, crowdsourcing gives them a sense of inclusion, validation and acceptance. They also become competitive with one another, and continually expand their knowledge of technology and psychology to sharpen their skills. They often maintain sophisticated records and logs of their victims’ responses and celebrate their successes, even as an innocent victim’s life is destroyed.
This week we will examine the power total strangers can have over our kids. Think about this. A child meets an individual on the world wide web. That person seduces him/her. They isolate the child and get him/her to engage in self degrading behavior. No one is in the room with them. No one physically touches the child, but they degrade themselves. And when the child is blackmailed, he/she will go to extreme lengths to try to satisfy their virtual captor, BUT THEY WILL NOT TELL!
We will explore the power of shame from self-degrading acts. And, how a predator, who they have never met and will never meet, can get a young person to commit acts where they are unable to project out the consequences. Acts that destroy the soul and challenge the support and love of a caring family. This is a wakeup call for all of us. We must find ways to educate our kids about how predators use the internet and why kids MUST reach out for help when they are being exploited!

This week we look at the case of Richard Lee DeVito, who pretended to be a 13-year-old boy and groomed more than 40 girls (between the ages of 8 to 12-years of age) into having sex on camera and then got them to send the photos to him.

We often see documentaries on sex trafficking portraying the image of sex buyers as men who look like Richard Gere in his role in “Pretty Woman.” The pimps almost always look like they are high rolling men who wear furs and chains. And, the women are beautiful, smiling and excited to be selling their bodies in upscale establishments.These are stereotypes that are certainly entertaining, but mostly inaccurate.
In reality, nearly 60% of sex trafficking cases, the recruitment and selling of the female victim is done by another woman. Few commercial sex buyers are professional Caucasian men in suits. Most are laborers of all ethnic backgrounds. And, many of the victims are average looking young girls, who are desperately seeking someone to take care of them, and have little understanding of the path they are traveling on.
Every hour around the world technology is scraping, storing, sorting and manipulating your online photos, gathering your personal information, as well as your every search, click and location and storing your facial image. Get used to it. Privacy is dead. As my new book suggests: It is truly a “Societal Shift: A World Without Borders and a Home Without Walls.”
Artificial intelligence gathers and sorts massive amounts of data and images and uses “artificial intelligence” to teach machines to use logic, make decisions and perform human-like tasks. Certainly, there is a down side to this as pimps, predators, pedophiles, gangs, cartels, and other organized criminals find new and innovative means to access and seduce our kids.
But, there is an upside to this scenario. Law enforcement is learning to use creative approaches with AI to find predators, solve criminal cases, reach out to sex trafficking victims and send a cautionary message to potential sex buyers.
In Part 1 of this two part series, we will discuss all about how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is utilized to create apps and games that kids use everyday. In Part 2, we will look at how tech companies are using AI to solve crimes, identify sex buyers and pedophiles, and locate and rescue victims of child sexual abuse.
Google Maps drives by your house and stores the photo(s), address and physical information of your home. When your child uses Tik Tok to make a video, it is tied to their location, public profile, and mobile phone number. IBM scrapes public photos off the web by the millions. Apps and sites like Facebook, Amazon, and Instagram are storing and selling your every click, search and location.
The real challenge here is that we are putting very young kids in the world of AI, and making them available to literally millions of strangers and VERY LITTLE is being done to educate them about the dangers. It is one of the greatest societal experiments of all time.
Every day new technologies are being handed to our kids that will catapult them from the safety of their homes to becoming performers on the world stage. Much of this technology is encrypted or vaporware which means the child is isolated from parental supervision resulting in the child being solely responsible for their decisions and behaviors. Advancing technologies mean that a pedophile no longer has to worm their way through the Instagram system and seduce your child, but, rather, your child freely performs before potentially millions of strangers, who can communicate with your child and know their profile information and geo location.
Few of us understand the over-ranging impact of this Societal Shift. Global Social Technology will change our kids and how they perceive relationships.Teaching our children to transition between the cyber-fantasy world and real-life decision consequences may be one of the greatest challenges for this generation.
This week we are going to look at how communication, relationships, and sexual exhibition has changed based on new technologies. For one-to-one conversations, it started with email then moved to texting. Facebook followed and we began to choose who would be our “friends” and “unfriended” the undesirables. Today, most teens would die of embarrassment using either email or Facebook. In fact, less than 5% of Facebook users are teenagers.
From instant messaging apps to mass audience individual live-streaming and video chat rooms, technology has literally torn down the walls of our homes while teens conduct the most intimate of acts at any time to be shared with any one.
Each of these apps has given pedophiles and predators access to groom, recruit and exploit our kids. THE WORLD HAS DRAMATICALLY SHIFTED IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS. All a pedophile has to do is sign up for the app and wait.
Tik Tok offers the ability to make short videos with music, stickers, filters and other special effects. It is the worlds most far reaching chat site. It is, in essence, live streaming on steroids. There are only two privacy settings: Private or Public. Kids as young as 9-years-old are playing on it even though the parental warning is that you need to be 16 to use it. The ONLY reason most kids are on Tik Tok is to reach thousands of people and become famous or discovered. In pedophile vocabulary, this is called “available and vulnerable.”
It should also be noted that Tik Tok uses a CHILD'S FACIAL RECOGNITION to detect facial expressions. Kids think this is really cool because they can add special effects to make them look funny or cute. But, what no one is saying is whether this facial recognition is being stored or if it will later be shared as user data, which is often done through artificial intelligence.
These technologies will change our world so PAY ATTENTION MOM AND DAD!
The recent arrest of the New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, is bringing to light the sordid underground world of local neighborhood massage parlors where women from China, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and other countries are lured to the U.S., often with legal visas, with promises of a better life, and then forced into modern day slavery by human traffickers.
The Orchids of Asia Day Spa, where Mr. Kraft allegedly solicited prostitution, is now the focus of a large-scale sex trafficking investigation by the Jupiter (Florida) Police Department. The investigation was triggered by numerous complaints by concerned citizens, as well as online reviews.
According to police, the victims averaged eight clients a day. They were forced to live in the spas for days, sometimes months, for the purpose of sexual servitude. Many of them came from China on temporary work visas, believing they'd get legitimate jobs in the U.S.

5 of the searches were related to FORTNITE characters and 9 of the top searches were related to Overwatch characters. Many more were related to Marvel characters. The other significant revelation is that in categories viewed the longest, the leader is “Amateur” videos, something teens can create on their own just by using live-streaming apps.

Unfortunately, most parents are unaware that video game pornography shared with strangers in a public chat room is a dangerous virtual incubator for grooming and exploitation.
Researchers will tell you that 70% of victims of sex trafficking have been previously sexually exploited. These are kids that often struggle with self-worth and self-condemnation.
Working in this field for over ten years, I have often searched for solutions on how to provide prevention and intervention education for teens and parents so our precious kids do not end up being violated and become easy targets for sex trafficking. Having dealt with hundreds of parents of trafficking and sextortion victims tells me that it is critical that parents work through their own emotional traumas from childhood or marriage experiences so they do not pass their shame, guilt and feelings of condemnation onto their children.

Many times, after I have spoken about technology and sexual exploitation at an event both men and women will contact me and share that they had been sexually violated as a child. This is far more common than most of us realize. Most of these individuals have gone on in their lives and have become successful professionals, parents and citizens. But they secretly carry the self- image of having been violated, of fearing they are less than.
Psychologists will tell us that shame is often generational. Children and teens will absorb shame-based behaviors from their parents making them much more likely to become victims of physical or virtual sexual exploitation. When we internalize an inferiority, it will be difficult to find a sense of worth and identity.

For the pedophile, crowdsourcing gives them a sense of inclusion, validation and acceptance. They also become competitive with one another, and continually expand their knowledge of technology and psychology to sharpen their skills. They often maintain sophisticated records and logs of their victims’ responses and celebrate their successes, even as an innocent victim’s life is destroyed.
Many people think that sex trafficking and sextortion does not take place in the midwest and/or in small communities. We will explore the power of shame from self-degrading acts. And, how a predator, who they have never met and will never meet, can get a young person to commit acts where they are unable to project out the consequences. Acts that destroy the soul and challenge the support and love of a caring family. This is a wakeup call for all of us. We must find ways to educate our kids about how predators use the internet and why kids MUST reach out for help when they are being exploited!

Through Senate Bill 10 California will become the 1st state to eliminate bail for non-violent suspects and replace it with a loosely-defined risk-assessment system.
The crux of the argument is that the current bail system was unfair to individuals who could not afford to pay a bail bond company to guarantee that they would later show up in court for their hearing. The new system is yet to be detailed. It appears that each county will use the councils framework to create their own protocols and procedures for deciding who will be released prior to trial. The county will create an “agency to create a risk-based system to decide each individual defendant’s risk and flight assessment. As it is written, defendants can be held 12 hours (with a 12 hour extension) prior to determining their flight risk, which will create a massive court processing log jam expected to cost California taxpayers at least $200 million dollars.

Live streaming apps like Live.Me are providing a whole new level of access to our kids. Live.Me is a relatively new app with about one hundred MILLION users. It has a geotracking function that alerts people nearby when you are broadcasting. Pedophiles have been using this app to encourage kids as young as 7 years old with virtual currency to grind, strip and photograph themselves provocatively. The app advertises itself as a way for kids, tweens, teenagers, to be a star.

Additionally, we will look at cases where laws were put into effect, such as California SB1322 that has crippled law enforcement's ability to assist and protect minor victims. And, we will look at the effects of California Proposition 57 that was passed and approved by voters, but is so undefined that it could end up releasing over 10,000 convicted felony sex offenders early from prison and right back into the communities where the victims testified and believably received justice.

It’s easy to believe that because we don’t see a mob of gang members in our neighborhoods that our kids will not be exposed to gangs. Did you know that gangs have I.T. guys, webmasters and social media experts?
Today we will explore how gangs and cartels are maximizing technologies to access, groom, recruit and exploit our young people. Social media allows gangs to form cliques. They have dispersed management so as not to be obvious to the public. They use Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and other apps and sites to meet young girls to groom them into sex trafficking. They use social media for money laundering, buying and selling of drugs, guns and commercial sex, and to announce hit lists. And yes, they use social media to lure in sex buyers in order to blackmail, beat and, in some instances, murder them.
One of the first questions people often ask in a sex trafficking case is, if the girl is being treated so badly, then why don't the run? Why don't they do whatever they have to do to get out?
Truthfully, this is a complex subject. It often has to do with layers of trauma. I sometimes refer to this as the Chain of Shame. Research indicates at least 70% of sex trafficking victims were previously sexually exploited. There is an element of self-incrimination as the victim is slowly groomed to accept the blame for his/her weaknesses and need.
Often the victims are highly drugged making them controlled and dependent. Many of the female victims are recruited and controlled by a bottom girl blurring perceptions of trust and friendship and vulnerable to feelings of failure. Most victims experience perceived rejection of their families and they know there are hundreds of pornographic photo and videos of them on the internet so they feel they are in the bondage of shame forever.
I am contacted by parents of 8-11 year olds, who have been exploited by someone they met online. The parent(s) (especially dads) are experiencing deep loss when they find out their innocent little girl has sent vile sexual photos of herself to a pedophile she met in a Roblox or Minecraft game or through Kik or Facebook. The child, whether boy or girl, is trapped and being threatened by the predator.
The psychological impact of sextortion on children who have not yet developed their sexual and moral identity is enormous. One of the challenges is that the child does not have the physical equipment or the intellectual capacity to understand why a pedophile wants their photos.
In many online video games SEX IS A WEAPON for which you receive points. No love, no respect, just points. When sex is used by predators to trap kids, they experience multiple levels of shame and depression. Today, predators define our kids sexuality BEFORE parents have The Talk.”
When Gov. Jerry Brown was promoting Prop 57 to voters in 2016, he characterized it as a common sense criminal law reform that would give nonviolent felons a better chance at rehabilitation by allowing them to earn earlier releases on parole.
However, it did not specify which felonies would be deemed nonviolent. Rather, Brown’s campaign confirmed that it would be every felony not included on a specific Penal Code list of 23 violent crimes – and that lack of specificity is now backfiring.
Prosecutor Michele Hanisee, president of the L.A. Assoc. of Deputy D.A.s, said the public was duped by the language of the proposition.
“It’s very clear they intended to release violent offenders by re-describing them, despite their crimes, as nonviolent offenders,” she said.
Prop 57 could allow earlier parole for those convicted incest, pimping a minor, advertising or possessing child porn, among others.
This week we will look at the global epidemic of child sexual exploitation and child pornography and discuss how law enforcement is creating a global investigation network in both the clear and dark net to find and apprehend pedophiles and child abusers around the globe. The cases we will discuss are Mark Salling from Glee, Peter Henry Herz, pianist and musical director for the Pageant of the Masters, and Meghan Alt, a former Orange County beauty pageant contestant and mother of three.
Just this week, a collaboration of more than 85 federal, state, county and local law enforcement and nonprofit community organizations conducted Operation Reclaim & Rebuild - a statewide, law enforcement effort aimed at sending a clear message that human trafficking will no longer be tolerated in California. In all 45 adults and 11 minor females were rescued from sex trafficking, and 30 traffickers and 178 johns were arrested during the operation.

We are entering an age where a child's first sexual experience may be virtual. Sextortion is the act of blackmail with a photo. Today thousands of sextortion-rings prey on available and vulnerable minors. Kids get believe they are communicating with another young boy or girl, but in-fact it is more likely a 52-year-old registered sex offender who is part of a large-scale ring of pedophiles preying on innocent young children. Many parents seem oblivious to the reality of their child's situation believing their child is smarter than most and that they will be careful. The result: Instead of waiting for the child to grow up in a world of innocence, they EXPERIENCE SEX as a WEAPON. Their lives are changed forever.
When it comes to the migration of people around the globe, we are living in historical times. Europe is seeing a major influx of displaced persons arriving from foreign cultures. The U.S. is grappling with “the wall and how to deal with the entry of people from Latin America, who are seeking to escape violence, crime and poverty.
This week legislators voted to make California a Sanctuary State ignoring immigration laws. Lost in the dialogue is the reality of what happens to a vulnerable undocumented adult or child alien with few resources, who has paid a cartel member (coyote) to cross the border illegally and is now being extorted. For many, their family members back home are being threatened with violence if they don't come up with more money. They fear ICE and being deported and being violated both financially and sexually by gangs or organized crime. Few can go back home. Many become victims of sex and labor trafficking. Their dream of starting a new life becomes a nightmare.
Backpage has long been a target of activists, NGO's, Law Enforcement and Congress. Backpage is, in fact, the electronic auctioning of people’s sexual services,” while veiling themselves as only being in the advertising business. They insist that they are not responsible for what people sell once they advertise on their site.
Millions have been spent trying to put Backpage out of business. Organizations launched complaints resulting in Backpage no longer able to accept credit cards. However, with credit cards, law enforcement could at least get a search warrant and trace the money. Now sex trafficking investigations have become harder as Backpage began using Bitcoin, which can be anonymous and non-traceable.
Tech companies spent millions developing algorithms to track keywords and emojis on the Backpage ads to help identify potential victims of sex trafficking. BUT, Backpage CHANGED again. Now they only offer phone numbers on the ads. So what is wrong with THAT? Join us this week!

I will never forget chatting with a survivor of sex trafficking. She shared with me about the first night she was homeless. No one told her that a homeless woman cannot sleep at night. She said she was sleeping on a park bench when she was raped.

People often ask if the global epidemic of sexual exploitation is real. Million Kids has been in the “business” of combating adult and child sexual exploitation for nearly ten years now. While trafficking is NOT occurring on every street corner, there is a very real threat to the safety and sanctity of the most vulnerable in our society.
What is disturbing is the frequency of cases being brought to the court system, the number of perpetrators, and the number of victims in each case. In the early days, we would often see one pimp with two to five victims in a case. Today, it is not unusual for a case to be comprised of eight to thirty perpetrators exploiting dozens, even hundreds of victims covering many cities and states in the U.S.

Randy McKinney is the founder of African Wildlife Initiative.In the Central African Republic, terrorist groups are targeting children, kidnapping them for use in the sex trade and as child soldiers. These same groups are also poaching elephants to finance their exploits. AWI is an Alaska-based organization working to protect and rescue children and elephants by training and supporting local people in CAR to defend their communities. Randy founded AWI and leads efforts on the ground in CAR.
Because of the dangerous political and social environment in CAR, it’s impossible for foreigners to enter the Central African Republic without special permission from the highest levels of government. The type of person who can and will go needs to be uniquely qualified and prepared. Randy is one of few men who can pull it off, equipped by his experience in law enforcement and as former CEO of an international security company.

This week we will have as our guest Donna Staples with Tetrad Core. Their mission is to collaborate with law enforcement agencies across the country to assist them in stings focusing on online pedophilia and sexual assault.
Tetrad Core’s main goal is educating parents and students about the dangers the internet can pose for those who are unaware. The newest apps, video games, and social media can all present a danger to children.
They are also currently collaborating with an educational company on creating curriculum that can be introduced into schools that will teach students, and parent how to be aware and safe when accessing the Internet.
Tetrad Core helped with sting operations with Chris Hansen, “Hansen vs. Predator,” (previously of “To Catch a Predator”) in Connecticut that resulted in 11 arrests and convictions.
In July, Teen Vogue Magazine (readers ages 12-18) published an article on line entitled Anal Sex: What You Need to Know and How to do it the RIGHT way. The article is targeted at teen girls and is very explicit and graphic and encourages teens to try it. The article was written by a well known sex educator, GiGi Engle who defends her approach as being clinical and informing teens about how anal sex works.
Elizabeth Johnston, a mother of ten and activist said enough is enough. Elizabeth posted a video of her calling the article Trash as she was burning the published copy of Teen Vogue Magazine in response to the on line story. Elizabeth's You Tube has received over 10 million views at this writing. Ms Johnston is encouraging the public to take a stand against exposing young people

STOP ENABLING SEX TRAFFICKERS ACT (SESTA) would amend the Communications Act of 1934 to clarify that section 230 of that Act does not prohibit the enforcement against providers and users of interactive computer services of Federal and State criminal and civil law relating to sex trafficking.

This week we will explore “FREEMIUMS and the world of online gaming. The video game industry is expected to reach $102.9 BILLION IN 2017. Game makers all over the globe have discovered a most lucrative revenue generator called “FREEMIUMS.” FREEMIUMS are defined as a business model that provides a game to players free of charge, but charges a premium fee for special features, powers or content. Game designers purposely make the game as difficult as possible to progress within the game so you will buy upgrades, power ups and equipment that will raise your score. It was reported last year that 76% of iPhone app revenue came from in-app purchases. In a video game, the player's score determines their acceptance and/or rejection by their teammates. This means game players are ensuring the difficulty in succeeding and ultimately the player will pay for acceptance and success. A gaming chat room is open season for grooming and influencing a young player’s ideas on many subjects.
Recently, I was having a dinner table discussion about commercial sex and exploitation when a family member suddenly made a statement, “sex buyers are all Caucasian men in suits and are Republicans.” Well certainly this person is young and uninformed and I found it all quite amusing. And, perhaps she just saw a rerun of the movie “Pretty Woman.” But it occurred to me that ALL of us have prejudices and preconditioning on the subject of sex buying. Certainly prostitution is the world’s oldest profession. We have all heard that ad nauseam. But, because of gangs and social media, commercial sex is not the casual activity we once thought it was. This week the US Attorney's Office announced the sentencing of defendants in the Polywood Crips Street Gang out of Fort Worth, Texas. There are nine defendants, six males and three females, with multiple victims many of whom were minors in a child sex trafficking conspiracy.

I believe that the selling of another person’s body is one of the lowest crimes on earth. It is hard to look at but I believe if we don’t do that, then how do we stop it? This week on “Exploited: Crimes Against Humanity” we are going to look at the “selling” process involved in human trafficking.
Backpage.com this week made national headlines because they were “shutting down” the adult ads in the “Escort”section of their website. Those sneaky little buggers (a Christian substitute for what I am really thinking) simply moved the ads to the “Dating” section. So we will spend some time understanding ads and what they really mean. We will also look at the many ways traffickers “market” their prey. It is important for all of us to recognize that what we are seeing is not OK but is in fact the total exploitation of another human being.
California Senate Bill SB1322 passed earlier this year, signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown, became effective January 1, 2017.The law was designed by activists and legislators to protect minors from being arrested for prostitution. In essence, this was an enhancement of Proposition 35 passed in 2012 that says that minors (under 18) cannot consent to sex in California and, therefore, cannot decide to participate in commercial sex. However, as the bill was signed into law, opposing parties have declared the law will actually legalize child prostitution.
