In this episode, we discuss the expression “coming out of the closet”. Although the expression is a metaphor to describe LGBTQ people’s self-disclosure of their sexual orientation or of their gender identity, Japanese people have started to use the expression with an altered meaning, to simply disclose a secret to the public. We discuss the historical origin of the expression as well as the potential moral implications of the alteration.

In this episode, we discuss COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination in general. Countries worldwide are slowly starting to vaccinate their citizens, and Japan is planning to do so in the coming months. However, this raises the question of whether we should take the vaccine, which further gets us to think about the moral and societal implications.

In this episode, we discuss sperm banks and donor insemination. Although such service and practice are not new in many parts of the world, it is a novelty in Japan. Japanese women do have access to sperm banks; however, considering the Japanese's relatively conservative mindset, there are many limitations to such practice, which further gets us to think about gender roles and the notions of masculinity.
